Museumsschänke Schmölln in Schmölln

Large portions, everything delicious. We had salmon, steak with spiced meat, and a "Räuberpfanne" (ruffled pan) with spaetzle. Our little grandchild, of course, had a variation with ice cream. Don't forget to pre-order!

Simply an awesome pub. Some people who don't understand the owner probably go down to the cellar to laugh. The portions are absolutely huge. Not just in taste, but also in size. Regards, Andreas Wagner

We have to go to the museum tavern for birthdays. Since we pre-ordered, they don't have the regular menu. There's barely room for vegetarian dishes. It's either soup or fish. Even when we asked, they didn't accommodate us. It's a shame, because the food isn't bad. The owner's jokes aren't really funny.

We had reserved a table for four people for 6 p.m. the day before. When we arrived, the proprietor greeted us with, "I don't have room for another hour, and 14 people have already arrived." We thought about it and decided to stay and have a drink. When we were seated at the table, the proprietor came over and asked, "So you reserved a table and you want food too?" We said, "That's why we ordered." The proprietor replied that we only had one table and there was no mention of food." We all shook our heads in incomprehension, to which the proprietor said he was too stupid and asked us to leave. Something like that had never happened to us in our entire lives, and we had even called twice to confirm the table. But if you treat guests who travel over 200 km like that, they certainly won't see us again. We've never been treated so rudely in any restaurant.

A hidden gem not far from the highway! You wouldn't believe it, but freshness is still a top priority here! They also go above and beyond, but this is in the portion sizes, not the price. You can not only hear from the kitchen how fresh the food is cooked here, but you can also taste it. The venison roast seemed almost slaughtered, the salad had just been cleaned, and the dumplings had been formed far too long ago. I highly recommend this place with its classic ambiance.

Very clean, food very good and super nice people

We're usually invited there for birthdays. I always order venison, which tastes delicious. You have to like the owner's sense of humor. Every time, we're asked who ordered the A9 (because the venison was run over there). Even when my child can't manage everything and we ask if they can pack her, they always say, "Then open your purse." That's not my kind of humor at all. That's such a shame, because the food is really good.

We were in Schmölln for further training and were looking for a restaurant... so we ended up here in the museum tavern. The host gave us a warm welcome, great food and gave us lots of tips for things to do. The food was really very tasty. We'll definitely be back.

A beautiful restaurant with a lot to discover. The landlord is a friendly and funny man who told us a lot about Schmölln and the surrounding area. He even brought us an interesting book to the table. After visiting the museum, we stopped in for coffee, apple strudel and ice cream. I had a salad myself because I'm not one for sweets (unimportant information). Everything was very tasty and the prices are justified. Conclusion: We felt very comfortable and hearing “stay healthy” as we said goodbye felt very good.

The "innkeeper" fits at most in a snack bar on the A4 for grill sales! Completely unfriendly, completely overwhelmed with larger orders and completely clueless! But the rudeness and unfriendliness towards the guests and the staff was the crowning glory! Food is great, greetings to the kitchen!

The waitress/boss is an absolutely impossible person. Rude to us as guests and condescending to his employees. Counting and recording food and drinks didn't work properly either. You got the feeling that he wasn't interested in making money because he accepted every order with a roll of his eyes. Card payment not possible. The two stars are only for the excellent food and the nice ladies in the kitchen. Definitely not recommended.

There are only a few button museums in Germany, we don't have the most magnificent, but the most authentic. You can enjoy a good beer and a good meal here.

For 2 small non-alcoholic beers 9€ I think it's very overpriced, I won't be coming back.

A nice Thuringian restaurant with good German cuisine. The dishes are freshly prepared and you can relax and unwind while you enjoy the food.

We had made a reservation for around 14 people for a birthday, the landlord simply canceled the reservation without prior consultation, we were forced to stay, the restaurant had enough capacity because only one table was occupied. We politely asked if we could push tables together, the host's enthusiasm was limited, he didn't help either, it also became clear that he was extremely overwhelmed with our group, he was unfriendly, his humor was incomprehensible and it almost lasted There was an argument, he also had no idea what drinks were available, the menu was small, the food came quickly and was good, and the cook was friendly to disabled people and asked if she could do something good for our severely disabled daughter, If you're traveling with a wheelchair, you should be prepared for a step in the entrance, but it's okay... Resome: becomes unfriendly and quickly overwhelmed, kitchen is good

Very good food. We had roast venison with dumplings and red cabbage. Simply delicious, very tender meat. All in all was good. The innkeeper is joking, you have to understand them correctly.

This button museum is beautiful and interesting. After the very good meal, we took a tour of this museum and received good and detailed advice from the museum person.

Good price-performance ratio. Good home-style food.

A family atmosphere that invites you to feast, with a very nice host who provides entertainment with a pleasant conversation in the evening. This makes good, traditional Thuringian home cooking taste a little better. Even the long journey back home from outside was absolutely worth it just for that.

If you like good home-style cooking and the cozy atmosphere to go with it, this is the place for you. We will be back definitely.

We like to eat there. Very familiar and fun.

Wir waren zu einer Geburtstagsfeier eingeladen. Ich persönlich fand den Service sehr unfreundlich. Auch ist es nicht schön wenn der Kellner an der Theke sitzt und irgendwelche Videos schaut und man alles im Gastraum hört und auch die Küche klar und deutlich versteht. Auch für Kinder eher nicht so geeignet .

The ambience was exceptionally amazing. I was there for diner with my american business partner recently and the Kellner payed more attention to every table (ours included obviously) than i have ever seen in my life before. My business partner commented that the humor of the Kellner was so typically german, and also somehow funny at the same time, that he wont forget that night.

Wir sind heute anlässlich eines Familientages eingekehrt und haben uns sofort wohl gefühlt. Super nettes und aufmerksames Team, ein Wirt, der ins Leben passt und auch keine Antwort schuldig bleibt, nicht zu vergessen sind die leckeren Speisen. Für Freunde gutbürgerlicher Küche ohne Chip Chi zu empfehlen. Wir möchten uns auf diesem Wege noch einmal bedanken und sagen: bis zum nächsten Mal. Familie Hildebrandt

Essen war lecker ,gute bürgerliche Küche. Preisen passen auch und der Wirt ist sehr freundlich.

Vor dem Museumsbesuch kehrten wir zum Mittagessen im Biergarten ein und würden mir riesenhaften, köstlichen Portionen verwöhnt. Und nach dem Museum gönnten wir uns noch einen leckeren Eisbecher oder besser gesagt -pokal. Größer gehts nicht! Wir können die Schänke nur empfehlen und viele Grüße aus Zschopau an den Wirt! 😊

Gute bürgerliche Küche. Uns und den Kindern hat es sehr gut geschmeckt. Der Wirt hat uns sehr freundlich empfangen und bedient. Wir kommen gerne im Sommer wieder.

...leckers Essen!!! Mittlerweile hab ich eine andere Meinung zu diesem Lokal. Das Essen ist wirklich super, aber der Wirt hat sich massiv in Art und Weise vergriffen, nur weil mein Schwiegersohn vegan ist, eine Feier wo wir Gast waren Kunden so zu beleidigen geht gar nicht. Ich bin froh das Oma und Opa die seit Jahren dorthin einladen, das nun sein lassen und andere Lokale wählen. Es ist absolut nicht mehr zu empfehlen dorthin zu gehen.

Herrlich, dass es so etwas noch gibt. Das Essen ist echt lecker und auf der Karte finden sich Gerichte von guter deutscher Hausmannskost bis zu vegetarischen Essen - alles zu wirklich fairen Preisen. Was aber den Besuch hier abrundet, das ist der Wirt, der erfrischend offen und ehrlich ist & sein Herz am rechten Fleck und auf der Zunge trägt - direkt, aber fair und alles mit einer Portion Ironie serviert ;-) Wenn es mich in die Gegend von Schmölln führt, dann ist der Besuch der Museumsschänke ein Muss ;-)

Sehr schöne Gaststätte, tolles Ambiente und 🐕 willkommen. Essen, Nachspeisen sehr lecker. Wirt/Kellner sehr freundlich mit lieblich sächsischen schwarzen Humor. Genau mein Ding. Wir Franken können das auch. Man muss es nur verstehen, was so manche laut der anderen Bewertungen anscheinend nicht können oder Mißverstehen. Also, wir kommen gerne wieder.

Essen war sehr gut, ein Stern Abzug weil die Bedienung etwas unfreundlich war und nicht mal beim Trinkgeld es für möglich hält danke zu sagen.

Das Essen ist sehr gut und preiswert. Werden gerne wieder hier einkehren.

Für die Gaststätte sollte man sich Zeit einplanen, aber dafür gibt es ein leckeres Essen. Günstig zu Fuß oder Auto zu erreichen. Parkplätze gibt es gleich vor Ort.
