Mr. Franz in Frankfurt am Main

I regularly have to reserve a table with Mr. Franz for my boss. In all my time assisting with reservations, I have never had such an unfriendly lady on the phone. And that’s true on pretty much every call. The food and the ambience are very good, but something urgently needs to be changed in this service. I dread every call there.

The Schnitzel was really good and we also loved the Kaiserschmarrn. The prices are reasonable. Service was friendly and interior of the restaurant is chique. Only thing was to find the entrance inside the Palais - was not too obvious.

Well... what can you say? Great location, great menu including daily special. Great wine list with many great wines at reasonable prices. There is no question that Hannes can cook; however, his knowledge of wine is astonishing; Not every chef can do that. The service staff on site do a reasonable job; With the competence of Mr. Franz personally and Hannes, it's a great deal. The fact that you get something to eat all the time is unusual and not common these days. Always my pleasure; preferably weekly

Unfortunately, it's not as good as expected here. The service is mediocre to okay, but doesn't suit the location at all. Mediocre food, poor parking. “Woman” cannot walk on the pavement. Apparently drinks aren't supposed to be sold, we've been left high and dry several times. It's a shame ☹️ Unfortunately there is no espresso for dessert even if you ask!

The monkfish was outstanding. You can sit in the sun in the courtyard.

Everything was great, we sat outside and had a great meal. The service was the same!

Wanted to have a great lunch with my hard working girl. No reservation, pretty empty place. Sat down, outside. Lovely setting. Could have been great. Could! Ordered dishes from the lunch menu and seasonal asparagus menu, expecting quick service for a short lunch break. We got our water, the side salad for my company's dish. Then... Nothing!!! After an hour she had to go back to work - hungry! On the way out, the patron expressed hopes we would come back... I don't think so.

Nice ambience, nice service, but... it could be better attended if the schnitzel wasn't so dry and darkly baked. The Kaiserschmarrn is airier and has larger portions. In general, gastronomy never skimps on materials, it's only a little money to serve larger portions, but the guest is happy about it. You have such a nice location, I enjoyed it

At the last meal, Friday dish fried fish with potato salad: the latter was a crash! Precious Pinot Noir from the Fürst winery: considerably too warm, but thankfully the lady in service cooled it down by bathing the bottle in cold water! Please do not allow Schluri businesses to enter there now.

Unfortunately, the service was generally never friendly; However, we have so far ignored it generously because the food is good, especially the lunch menu. Today, however, the older female waiter was extremely unfriendly when it came to paying the bill. There was a sign on the door that only allowed cash or debit cards. When we asked to pay separately, this was not welcomed and we responded with an annoyed comment. We wanted to pay in cash and with an EC card, but were told in an extremely unfriendly manner that either only one or the other was possible for everyone, as this would have to be entered into the cash register beforehand and this could supposedly cause problems with the tax office. She continued the payment process extremely annoyed, accompanied by several inappropriate comments and cards and cash were angrily received and thrown back on the table. The farewell greeting was: “We should remember this for next time”. There will be no next time. We hope that management will take this feedback constructively to improve service quality.

Mr. Markus Schaufler, I wonder how you can seriously complain about the uneven browning of a schnitzel from the pan.. Gourmet secret tip just for you: At KFC, everything comes out of the deep fryer identically browned. There you can stay seated in the car and not be bothered by the background noise of other guests. A satisfied, laughing guest

Apart from the fact that the schnitzels were prepared in the pan, which resulted in uneven browning of the breading, the food was good to very good. Unfortunately the waitress took a lot of time to take the order. But the cleaning process of the kitchen with an excessive amount of chlorine and lemon cleaner without ventilation has very unpleasant effects on the sensory perception of the wines. In the rather dim dining room you also have to contend with very poor acoustics. Unfortunately not a real recommendation.

Despite registering twice by phone and asking us to prepare a vegan meal for two people in the group, there was only an “emergency meal”. We were offered a "rice dish with vegetables", which only consisted of dry rice with a few fried mushrooms, zucchini and broccoli pieces without any sauce. There was also a salad. That wasn't a court and I wouldn't have wanted to pay anything for it. However, since we asked when we made the reservation and shortly before the appointment whether vegan dishes were possible, that's very cheeky. Then it's better to say that it's not possible and that you should go eat somewhere else. There were also no vegetarian dishes on the regular menu. However, the atmosphere was pleasant and the meat dishes also looked reasonable, which is why we get the second star.

A great restaurant... worth it 👍

The waiter dropped a few glasses and the glasses landed right behind me. There were broken glass all around my feet, but the waitress didn't apologize or say any kind words. The glasses were never cleared away afterwards. No consideration is given to customer safety. Irresponsible.

Brilliant evening with our friends and family! The location was really nice and quiet, we have a separated room as we were 10 of us. Service was great! And food was of course really good. They do have a separate room if you are looking for a place to celebrate with small group of people like 20. We will definitely come back and try other dishes that they have to offer.

Ja naja, also zunächst mal ist das Ambiente allein schon aufgrund der besonderen Architektur, in der Herr Franz untergebracht ist, hervorzuheben. Die Lage ist durchaus exklusiv. Auch ohne Reservierung wurde ein Tisch im ansonsten gut gefüllten Lokal angeboten. Das Essen war von hoher Qualität und auch entsprechend hoch bepreist. Alles in allem kann man sich das aber schon mal leisten und es lohnt sich.

Great location, average to good food a bit on the overpriced side. However, the waiters I think had a stroke simultaneously. First, it took 5 minutes to get me a menu. Second, instead of giving me the drinks card they were asking if I drink wine because they know a good wine. I want to choose for myself. The only course I had was pretty quick to come. Then the desert took 25 minutes! The waiters, although seeing me waive, were non responsive and were not even in a rush. Having the bill took another 5 minutes. Plus, they asked for tip at the end. My best advice to the owner: change the waiters. Everyone around me was pissed with the poor service.

Sehr leckere Gerichte. Gehobene ehrliche Küche zu vernünftigen Preisen in einem sehr schönen Ambiente mit sehr herzlich freundlichem Service.

Roast beef is quite ok. Can be described as delicious among German dishes, which is, not easy. Wienna Schnitzel is particularly tasty and with big portion. Coffee is super.

Herr Franz ist eines meiner Lieblings-Lokale, und wir kennen und schätzen ihn seit Jahrzehnten.

I booked the table 4 weeks prior to our visit (my 5 friends visited me from England). When we arrived, the owner told us there was no table for us. Instead of trying to move some tables around he simply threw up his hands and said “what do you want me to do?”. By the end of it he was obnoxiously waving his hands in my face, quite literally wafting me away like a fly. Yes the food can be good here but the people are pretentious, impolite snobs who think they are better than you!

Sehr nette Atmosphäre im Innenhof, drinnen leider äußerst laut. Die Gerichte sind ausgezeichnet zubereitet, nicht extravagant aber solide gute Küche. Die Karte könnte etwas Abwechslung gebrauchen aber insgesamt gehe ich da sehr gerne hin, nur nicht zu oft da die Karte sich kaum ändert. Die Dame des Hauses könnte etwas freundlicher sein

This is an awesome German restaurant in a great location at the Pressclub. The chef is amazing and the wait staff very friendly. Have eaten here many times and they switch the menu up often with great Germany dishes and deserts. Highly recommend

Leckeres Essen in entspannter Umgebung. Speisen wie bei guten Freunden zu besonderen Gelegenheiten. Geräuschintensiv, da der hohe Raum wenig Gelegenheit zum Schallabsorbieren bietet. Anreise zu Fuß erspart eine schwierige Parkplatzsuche.

Sehr angenehm im Innenhof zu sitzen. Gute Atmosphäre. Toller Service. Das Essen ist - wie immer - sehr läcker und die Weine sehr überlegt ausgewählt, passend und wohlschmeckend. Beim Preis-Leistungsverhältnis schlägt die Waage eindeutig in Richtung Leistung aus.
