Moritzburger Schlossrestaurant in Moritzburg

I was there with my family on September 16, 2025. The ambiance was appropriate, as you'd expect in a castle. But then it started. The waiter was aggressive, and I'm almost certain if I'd spoken to him about it, the whole thing would have escalated completely right from the start. It was lucky my daughter was sitting at the table with me. And before I get to the food itself, a quick note. I'm a trained chef and have worked in the profession for a long time. I know when something is spoiled or not. I ordered the sword plate, or something like that. Three tiny slices of pork fillet, so you could have read a newspaper through them, with some vegetables that neither looked fresh nor were fresh in any way. It was sour. That means spoiled. I tried to tell the staff quietly and discreetly so as not to scare off other guests. Because I know the restaurant industry. Meanwhile, the aggressive waiter had already chased another couple out of the restaurant simply by being unfriendly and silently slamming the menu onto the table before the guests were even seated. Meanwhile, the waitress apparently came over and desperately wanted to apologise for the inconvenience, telling me that neither the chef nor she had noticed that the vegetables were spoiled. Remember: I'm a chef myself. I know how vegetables should taste and how they absolutely shouldn't. And what I got definitely shouldn't taste like that. All in all, 5 main courses and one starter plus 6 drinks cost 150 euros. I've been thinking for a long time about whether or not to take this step. Sorry, but as much as I know how unfair and stressful the restaurant industry is, cheating guests is unacceptable, and especially not in a historic landmark like this. You can behave like that at Uncle Ali's kebab shop in the main train station, but not in an establishment like this.

The castle tour concluded with a delicious finale of delicious soup, delicious cake, and cream puffs. A super-friendly and cheerful waitress rounded it all off.

A lovely conclusion to the castle tour. The service was attentive, and the Cinderella coffee with three hazelnuts was magnificent.

The café is truly beautiful and wonderful. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the coffee itself. Very poor quality and quite expensive (which is appropriate for the location). The cake was a bit uninspired compared to the other offerings in town. There's definitely more to it. I'm looking forward to my next visit.

Yesterday, I went to the Moritzburg Castle Restaurant with a friend – unfortunately, it was a complete disappointment. My shandy tasted old, stale, completely lacking in carbonation and a head of foam. There wasn't even a beer mat. The tables aren't numbered, which meant the waiters wandered around the beer garden completely disoriented and had to repeatedly ask who had ordered what. It seemed chaotic and unprofessional. The waiter practically pressured us to order immediately, and we felt like we were constantly being watched – very unpleasant. The overall atmosphere was loud and hectic, and there were also a lot of agitated retirees. For a restaurant in such a well-known location, this is simply embarrassing. The service, organization, and quality of the drinks urgently need to be improved!

Unfortunately a place in a great location but with partially unfriendly staff. Best to go when there are only few people.

A day at the museum! The castle was a dream. Afterwards, we ordered sparkling wine and Buchteln (a kind of German bun) outside. The service was wonderfully attentive and friendly. Our order arrived shortly, and the Buchteln were fluffy and soft, with vanilla sauce and a selection of meticulously chopped fruits, a dream in themselves. We had a day at the museum from start to finish and are very grateful for the attentive service.

The ambiance is pleasant. Only one server can take orders, leading to long waits and frustration among guests. The food is okay, but for the price, the quality could be better. People come here for the location; the other things aren't outstanding.

Here you can enjoy good food and drinks after touring the castle. The roast pork was excellent!

Since you can only get a sunny spot (at 30°) without a reservation and the staff seem very annoyed, we cannot recommend the castle restaurant.

We visited the castle café/fireplace room yesterday. It was truly beautiful and cozy. We would especially like to emphasize the friendliness and service of the staff. The selection of cakes, tarts, and ice cream was excellent. All in all, a successful afternoon.

The cake we ordered never arrived (we ate our own food in the meantime), the coffee wasn't good, the staff was friendly but overwhelmed. Other guests weren't served or simply forgotten. The overall organization just wasn't up to scratch, despite the lovely ambiance. What a pity.

A restaurant in a beautiful castle! It's very romantic! The staff is friendly, and we got everything we wanted. The prices are a bit higher than usual, but that's due to the great location. We sat on the sunny terrace. But the restaurant's interior also looks very interesting, truly historic. I've been to this restaurant several times and have always been satisfied. This time I had the chicken salad and a Hugo—both were good.

The castle restaurant is beautiful inside. Unfortunately, that was the weather on April 8th, 2025 and we were initially ignored in the restaurant, as if they wanted to force us to sit on the terrace. But it was simply too cold for us and we don't like eating in jackets. So we waited patiently until they took pity on us. We had the impression that the staff was completely overwhelmed, even though the guests weren't even that numerous. We had to wait some time for the food, but our order of an ice cream sundae and a spicy meat was incomprehensible. At least there was nothing to complain about in terms of taste. Overall, we unfortunately got the impression that the staff didn't care about anything because the guests rarely come back. Too bad.

Unfriendly waitress, pushy waiters, food wasn't that good and a lot of ready-made food from a bag or Teka. It's a shame, I would have expected more in such a beautiful place.

Let's start with the positive. The castle is beautiful and the atmosphere outside is really great. But that was it. The employees were consistently unfriendly and the food was ok but not particularly great. Vegan is a completely foreign word and you don't always want to just eat salad or side dishes.

So I have to say that it's mega, although it's also price intensive, but it's very nicely done.

My impression of the castle restaurant, service was 0, were not served, but should use the outside tables in full sunshine without a parasol. Temporary service staff very unfriendly.

We know it was much better with a different operator. The labeling on the cake wasn't correct or there were signs about cakes that didn't even exist. Drinks were cold. Coffee was provided but not restricted, you had to take your food from the waiter yourself and put it on the table. When asked about a seat cushion, the only exception that came up was that it was for special occasions. That doesn't work at all. If an older woman or man just needs chairs, that shouldn't be a problem. So we were really disappointed 😞

Drink coffee after the castle tour in a great atmosphere with top service. Delicious cake and coffee specialties at moderate prices. Our waitress (Ms. Tzentscher) was awesome, funny and competent. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Neither good nor bad in itself. Service is tried hard (especially the head waitress). The location makes the price. Otherwise it wouldn't be fair. But I would like to give the new operator a chance.

We were invited to the 90th birthday party, unfortunately the room was too small for so many people. Lunch was very little and was already at the table without drinks, the same with coffee, the cake was in front of you but no coffee. The service was simply not a team, people didn't talk or work with each other, no care and little attention...for example, just refill the coffee, just pass the cake plate around again. The restaurant is highly recommended and the buchtels were simply amazing as a dessert.

Unfortunately it's totally gone, we waited forever, food only served 1, 2, not advertised, the product we ordered, smooth taste, cold and the price was off, we'll never come back, it's a shame our 92 year old mother was so happy. It showed me again today that our gastronomy is on the ground, people, what's wrong with you??

The visibly overwhelmed waitress interrupted the visibly overwhelmed waiter several times while he was taking the order at our table and tried to clarify internal problems in our presence and while taking the order. She then brought z. B. after each individual order of “pasta” at the table, a single spoon each. 🙃 From the menu, which was already quite clear, both parsley potatoes and bacon Brussels sprouts were no longer available on Saturdays at 1:30 p.m. and therefore probably a not insignificant proportion of the freshly cooked and vegetarian offerings. 😶 There was no salad plate as a starter (at least not as a pure salad). Overall, the dishes seemed very salty and not very “balanced”, i.e. a lot of heavy, hearty things on the plate. Dishes such as pasta or salmon were not cooked to perfection. In terms of service and the fresh food on offer (if you don't count croquettes, fries and bacon beans as being too fresh), the visit was quite sobering.

Family friendly restaurant! Changing options available. Very tasty food and super friendly staff. We'll be back!

Der Service war super, das Personal war sehr nett. Das Essen war lecker und man kann sich in diesen historischen Räumlichkeiten sehr wohl fühlen. Was richtig schade ist, ist die Tatsache dass das Restaurant sehr schwer zu finden ist. Die unscheinbare Tür im Foyer kann leicht übersehen werden. Vielleicht sollte man die Werbung bzw. Hinweise für das Restaurant noch einmal überdenken.

The food wasn't worth it at all for these prices. Roulades were hard to chew and had no filling. The other dishes we ordered weren't good either. We wouldn't eat here again. We're sorry.

We had dinner at the Schlosshotel today and were very satisfied. All of our wishes were fulfilled. I would like to highlight the friendly lady of the house who worked with 2 trainees and 1 temporary worker. Respect for so much thoughtfulness and kindness.

Qualität der Speisen ist Luft nach oben. Trockene zähe Rouladen, wo man Füllung vermisst. Dafür schade ums Geld. Auch die anderen Speisen waren nicht lobenswert. Schade für so eine schöne Lokalität. Muss nicht nochmal sein.

We reserved a table for 8 people for a family outing. In addition to the sophisticated ambience, we were welcomed by a friendly, courteous service crew. A small but varied menu left nothing to be desired. A compliment to the boss, she is still training restaurant professionals during these times!!

Super nice atmosphere. There were 8 of us who all ordered drinks, cake and food. It was coordinated so that we all had our drinks, cake and food at the same time, which is not always the case. Super friendly staff who always came to the table to ask questions. There was also a little fun every now and then, which was very refreshing. Prices are perfectly fine. The Cinderella chocolate is very tasty.

Wir waren nach der Schlossbesichtigung hier Essen hatten 3x Steak au four. Pommes waren zu gross, Würzfleisch auf Steak verbrannt, Pfefferstreuer leer Leute was ist los mit Euch, solch ein schönes Schloss und so ein schlechtes Schlossrestaurant für drei einfache Essen

Venison veal, roulades and steak au four were excellent! Very friendly service and great atmosphere, thank you very much!

It was very cozy today in this small, beautiful restaurant, we received a very warm welcome, the food was also very tasty (I haven't eaten such good home-style food in a long time). P.S. We wish you and your team a wonderful Advent season.

You can definitely do it yourself. We went to the cafe there. The cake/tart was delicious and reasonably priced. The Cinderella Special was cute, a coffee crema with hazelnut aroma, cream and 3 hazelnuts. 😃(photo) Not cheap in price but still reasonable if you are just visiting the castle. Card payment possible!

Bad for a castle restaurant grottoes! It's a shame given this beautiful environment. Food: Lunch has extremely little choice, cheap products, Worcester sauce is refilled (bottles have a greenish film on the inside), Sprite and Fanta are offered, but they are cheap products (you can taste them), beef paddy is disgusting, bread is enough to break your teeth. Service: Uncoordinated, overwhelmed and very slow even though there was nothing going on. Unfriendly when complaining Ambience: such a shame. Neglected and dirty. The beautiful wall fabric dirty with leftover food or drink stains. Furniture dirty. White spots on backrests and seats (old food). It is a disgrace to manage such a nice restaurant in such a nice location like this. The tenant/owner should change a few things as quickly as possible. Looks and comments from other guests said the same thing as I write here. Really sad and unfortunately not recommended.

We were in their restaurant on Sunday with family, which we shouldn't have done. The staff was simply overwhelmed, but not by the guests, but by their own abilities. Only half of what was ordered comes, after SEVERAL requests, I'll take care of the rest. The cake, which wasn't even cut yet, wasn't released for consumption. After about an hour, we asked for the bill, which was long overdue, which presented itself as the next problem. The waiter no longer knew what we had ordered. We will no longer visit this stop, let alone recommend it.

No conditions came to take our order and we left again.

It's a great place and a great location too! Unfortunately the staff is overloaded and you have to wait an hour for a coffee! Cake is only for looking at, you are not allowed to order it! Prices are therefore also very expensive. It's a shame for the staff, they probably can't do anything about it. They are also not family friendly, neither when you ask if you can move the table differently nor was there an option for baby changing! I won't come back...

Sat on the terrace in lovely weather. The staff arrived quickly and were very friendly, despite there being a lot to do. Drinks and food came quickly and were really tasty. We'd love to come back again.

Although we arrived with our grandchildren relatively shortly before the restaurant closed, we were served very friendly and courteously and were able to enjoy our delicious cake and drinks in peace. A nice restaurant with very friendly staff. We'd love to come back.

Unmöglicher Service. Wir haben 30 Minuten gewartet, es wurde immer gesagt, er komme gleich. Zwischenzeitlich bediente der Kellner andere Gäste. Ein junger Mitarbeiter lief nur hin und her, nahm aber keinen Kontakt mit uns auf. Wir sind nach der dritten Ansage, er komme gleich, gegangen. Schade.

Even though guests arrived after us, they were served first. After the service staff passed us several times and ignored us, we left.

We were 4 adults and 2 children and got a table after 10 minutes. The service staff seemed very stressed. The guest should never notice something like that. Drinks were okay and also the soup. Ice cream and cream puffs were very unloving.

We actually just wanted to eat a little something and drink something. When we went in and asked if we could sit inside due to the temperatures, the brunette employee loudly complained to us that there were only three of them in service. Impossible way but not a problem for us. Outside, older people tried desperately to put a table out of the blazing sun in the shade of the umbrellas, and here again the lady was loudly demanding that they leave the tables standing. So the tone ran through all rows of seats: being friendly and acting as if are two different things. The beer glass was dangerously cracked and the vanilla ice cream was surprisingly tasteless. Soljanka was very delicious, unfortunately a lot of it spilled over when it was served and was ignored. Only the young and older service staff ensured 2 stars here; they were friendly and tried hard.

Left immediately because the waitress was unfriendly. We took the liberty of just sitting in because the staff didn't pay any attention to us. But this was not allowed because of an upcoming event... Reserved signs would have been helpful if you are not in a position to give a friendly hint. In general everything looked very bland and cold anyway, in keeping with the mood.

We wanted a quick bite to eat early in the evening and decided on that “Wildschützentopf with black beer bread”. This was ordered once in large and once in small. The food was served to us once in a deep plate and once in a soup cup. There was hardly any difference in the quantity of the soup, but in terms of price there was a difference of around €2. A simple white bread was served with it no black beer bread as listed on the menu. And unfortunately the soup was only lukewarm and very tasteless. The staff was very friendly, but the kitchen leaves a lot to be desired. I imagine a meal in a castle restaurant would be of higher quality, but it definitely wasn't. I have no recommendation as a castle restaurant.

After visiting the castle we were very hungry. Luckily there is a cozy restaurant in the same building. There is a pleasant atmosphere there, the food is delicious and the staff is friendly. It was a good place for lunch and rest. Now we are full of energy again for a walk through the large park around the lake.

Very bad cuisine, totally incomprehensible for this beautiful ambience. The citizen was not well cooked, rather raw/medium. The salmon looked gray and didn't taste good either. The service staff was attentive, friendly and helpful. I don't recommend the restaurant. The current menu is just bad and boring.

Our visit to the Moritzburg Castle Restaurant was unfortunately marked by numerous disappointments. There were mix-ups right from the start: a drink we ordered wasn't served to us, and instead the waiter brought us a drink we never ordered - apparently the child's meal order was mistakenly recorded as a drink. Shortly afterwards the waiter informed us that due to a defect in the kitchen there could be a delay if you hadn't already ordered - up to 30 minutes waiting time for the food. After pointing out that we had already ordered and that the child's order was not taken correctly, we the adults got the food while the child had to wait another 30 minutes. The quality of the food also left a lot to be desired. A beef patty tasted like bubble gum and the curry was colder than a frozen Red Bull. As if that wasn't enough, the waiter showed up to present the bill even though our child's meal was still outstanding. Only after another reminder was the children's dish - pasta, whose long preparation time remains a mystery - served with a further 10 minute delay. The experience was particularly disappointing given the high prices. We expect a certain level of quality and service, unfortunately both expectations were not met. This experience was one of the worst we have ever had and unfortunately we cannot recommend this restaurant.

We were there on Easter Sunday. We had pasta with tomato sauce for our son... and ourselves a soup, salad and a spicy meat dish. Really great. Not out of the can or otherwise finished. The food was great and the service too. The boss herself was on the holiday (so that the employees also got something out of the holidays :-) ) I can only recommend it and with the scenery... Thank you very much

Our plan was to enjoy coffee and cake after the castle tour. But unfortunately the comfort was broken due to disagreements between the staff about what had to be done in front of the guests and you no longer felt comfortable. In addition, the coordination in the team was so bad that you had to wait forever for your order and it was also forgotten.

Were just passing through here and wanted to grab a bite to eat. We had the goulash soup (it actually has a different name) and it was very tasty. I also had Cinderella hot chocolate, also delicious. Unfortunately I forgot to take photos.

Great ambience, the food is also good, although not quite worth the price. Unfortunately, the boss was so unfriendly to her employees that we all lost our joy and appetite, but then a second later she was noticeably friendlier to us guests. Thanks to this disrespectful treatment of staff we won't be coming back.

We arrived on a very hot afternoon in August. Unfortunately, the staff (two waitresses were on duty) had only put up one of the six parasols available there (why not the others?), which probably explains why there were hardly any guests there (even though the museum was very well attended). no one wanted to sit in the blazing, hot sun. Even though we were almost the only guests, the wait for a piece of cake we ordered took a long time. Surely cutting a piece of cake, lifting it onto a plate and bringing it out can't be that much of a hassle? One or two wasp traps outside would also have been good to decimate these pests and make your stay more pleasant. Ice cream sundaes were great though.

Gestern, dem 16.12.2023, besuchten wir das Schlossrestaurant Moritzburg. Das Ambiente passte hervorragend. Leider nicht die Bedienung. Als ich die Bestellung auf gab, unter anderem einen Chardonnay, fragte sie mich lautstark und genervt, ob ich die Karte nicht lesen könnte. Diesen Wein gebe es nicht. In diesem Ton geht das gar nicht. Vorallem stimmte es auch nicht, denn hinter mir war der Wein sogar auf einer Tafel angepriesen., was ich aber erst später bemerkte. Auch wie sie lautstark gegen das andere Personal laut gelästert hat, das geht gar nicht. Heute hat sie ja frei. Bei diesem Wissen kann man sich vorstellen, wie laut diese Person kommuniziert. Aber zum Schluß das positive. Ganz lieben Dank an den Koch. Ich hatte die Entenkeule und sie war mehr als perfekt !!!

Das war heute wieder ein tolles Mittagessen 😋. Super nettes Personal...ein großes Lob an die Küche für das leckere Essen und das Ambiente dazu waren wieder ein Traum. Wir waren gerne hier und freuen uns auf den nächsten Besuch. Die Chefin ist auch super nett..."schwarze Liste 😃😃😃dann weiß sie schon. Dankeschön und ein schönes besinnliches Weihnachtsfest 🎄🎄🎄🎅🎅🎅 dem ganzen Team.

Wir waren schon öfters zu Gast in diesem Restaurant. Egal welchen Appetit man verspürt, es ist für jeden Geschmack etwas dabei. Aus eigener Erfahrung können wir die Eierschecke und das Würzfleisch empfehlen. Preis - Leistung befinden sich dabei im Einklang. Das Servicepersonal ist freundlich, besonders ist die Chefin hervorzuheben. Dieses Mal fanden wir ein liebevoll geschmücktes weihnachtliches Ambiente vor. Ich kann für dieses Restaurant eine absolute Weiterempfehlung geben.
