Mongo's Restaurant Duisburg in Duisburg

Today was our first time at Mongos, and also our last. The wrong sauce was poured on the food, even though the correct one was listed. The peanut sauce tasted exactly like peanut butter. And some of the food was burnt. My piece of chicken liver still had a piece of gallbladder hanging off it. When I asked for small spoons for dessert, I was told they didn't have any more and I should just use a soup spoon. Also, the finger food buffet was really cheesy.

We had a great time at Mongos today, but we only managed to try an average of three bowls of delicious food from the all-you-can-eat menu (because it was super tasty, but just too much). Dessert and waffles were also included for the price, which was great!

A wonderful place. When you first come here, you don't know what to do. But once you figure it out, everything becomes clear and delicious. Buffet style. I recommend it.

Update: I eat here fairly regularly and am generally satisfied, but things change from time to time, which I personally consider a small negative. But first, the positive: Food – something for everyone, whether vegetarian or vegan. I haven't seen vegan meat alternatives at any other restaurant 👌🏽 Otherwise, a nice selection of ingredients, which I've only seen at Mongo's so far. The atmosphere – actually quite pleasant, although it's quite crowded with tables, they still try to create a bit of distance for a bit more privacy. Please ask people at the beginning if they're eating meat at the buffet so that we can clarify whether the food can be prepared on the same side as the meat. Online reservations are possible. What I find a shame is that the online ordering function has been discontinued; we really liked it. Everyone could decide whether they wanted to order from the staff or order themselves via the QR code. I think the reason they stopped offering online payment was because they couldn't track who had already paid, and that probably made it easier for people to skip out on the bill... Staff: Chanel is an excellent employee, you have a real gem there, treat her well so she'll stay with you forever :) I would like it if the online reservation could show you how long you're booking for. Sometimes I get there and it seems like we have no limit, and then again we do, and that's not as transparent as it could be. The music in the restaurant is a bit too loud/dominant for me. It gives me Sausalitos vibes. Maybe a bit quieter and more melodic lounge music that's less intrusive, because then it gets louder as the restaurant gets full. I think sauces are always a hit and miss. The solid sauces on the menu have also been changed again, and I now think they differ more from one another. Could you cut the seaweed in half at the buffet so that you can take it out of the bowl? Because they're so long, it's difficult to maneuver them into your bowl, so I don't use them anymore because it's such a nuisance. Perhaps a cutlery rest/bench at the table would be useful, since you're supposed to use the same cutlery all the time and you often don't know where to put it. Since you only have one napkin, which you use anyway, I don't know where to put it. Otherwise, should I always set out two napkins? (At Sunday brunch, you can use new cutlery and napkins, which are laid out there, which I think is great.) The sauce of the month can only be voted on via Facebook, but not everyone has Facebook. The voting would be open to everyone via your website :) Otherwise, your restaurant is a great place, keep it up. ✨👍🏽

Everything was very cramped, very crowded, and therefore very loud. We would never go to Mongos in Duisburg again. It's more of a "canteen" than a restaurant these days.

The Duisburg Mongo's branch is truly a very pleasant restaurant. Three of us visited on a Sunday and were primarily served by Chanel, whom I'd like to mention by name because she was extremely kind, courteous, and reliable. We felt very comfortable with her! The service team was also always friendly and courteous. The restaurant wasn't very busy at around 4 p.m., so we were able to fill our bowls in peace and our food was delivered to our table very quickly. Everything was to our satisfaction. The only pity is that Duisburg isn't "around the corner" for us; otherwise, we would definitely be visiting this branch more often in the future. I can highly recommend this Mongo's!

The food and ambiance were very good! Service was more or less okay. Prices were far too high in my opinion. Unfortunately, the concept has become outdated; the introduction of time slots at the time was very customer-unfriendly. Therefore, I rarely visit these days, even though this rule seems to have been dropped.

Today, I was a guest at "Mongo's" restaurant at Duisburg Harbor for the first time for a birthday celebration, and I was absolutely thrilled by the exquisite food! While I'd previously only experienced the Mongolian dishes typically offered at Chinese restaurants, usually at the evening buffet, which, just like here, you could put together yourself and which were also freshly prepared on-site, the menu at "Mongo's" unfolded into a true splendor of delicacies, with delicious starters and desserts and a variety of sauces, spices, and all kinds of fresh ingredients! A truly unforgettable experience! Today, there were numerous birthday guests in the restaurant, and yet the service team was always attentive and courteous! I would like to thank you very much for this particularly enjoyable evening! However, I have to deduct one star from my rating because this restaurant is not wheelchair accessible: After my knee surgery, I still have difficulty walking and had to climb several steps at the entrance, and the restroom area is only accessible via a long flight of stairs! Wheelchair users would therefore have no way to enter the restaurant, let alone use the restroom. Unfortunately, there is no "accessible restroom" with wall mounts, which I consider a drawback and very sorry about!! Otherwise, I can definitely recommend this restaurant with a clear conscience! But please urgently improve the service for guests with disabilities!

The food is always really good, the sauces are constantly changing, which always brings a breath of fresh air. I'd like to see separate grills for vegetarians and omnivores, but that might be a lot of demand. The service, however, is outstanding – Chanel, in particular, is always a really great server, attentive and friendly. I've rarely had such great service in a restaurant!

The food is excellent, a nice selection and variety thanks to the Mongolian grill experience. Unfortunately, it was very crowded during our visit, which led to a bit of a cafeteria-like noise and made quiet conversation difficult, so it deducted one star for the ambience. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed, clean, and modern.

The food wasn't really any better or worse than other Mongolian BBQs. If you're so focused on the sauces, you should probably sell them separately. I would have celebrated that and bought two. If you used a pen and paper system, an employee wouldn't always have to come over to write down the new sauce. That would save the staff work and shorten the processing time for the customer. Scoville ratings for the hot sauces would have been cool. PS: Please don't serve vodka at room temperature.

Even though I had mentioned it was today's birthday at the beginning. And then it was too late...but when we come back next year on July 20th, because it was really lovely overall, I'll definitely remember the birthday discount for the Asian Brunch. 😉😁

Very pleasantly surprised for the first time. The food was all top-notch! The atmosphere is nice and pleasant. When it was a bit emptier, it was very relaxed, but when it was completely full, you felt at ease. The first waitress we had was top-notch, but the one who came next was OK. The price for the two of us on Sunday was €80 for the buffet, including four drinks and a tip. So, absolutely reasonable for the service and atmosphere. Highly recommended and definitely worth a second visit.

After half a year, we went back with friends. Super friendly service. Sunday brunch now includes filter coffee and bottled water for a small fee. Great atmosphere right on the waterfront in Duisburg on the promenade.

Really nice. Service is always friendly and helpful. However, it seems understaffed at peak times. I wish the service was more supportive. But the food is excellent, and the fact that it's all-you-can-eat and also has an alternative for smaller eaters is good. I'd be happy to come back.

Disappointing! We were there at Easter and I mentioned gluten-free when making the reservation. According to the homepage this isn't a problem... well it was! Nothing worked and I had a gluten accident due to incorrect information. The service staff didn't understand the seriousness of the situation and downplayed it - also with regard to the consequences of gluten consumption. The rest of the evening wasn't like that either. The hot dishes at the buffet were cold and the dessert was probably made from ready-made mixes.

We ate at Mongo's during the week. On the menu outside, under Mongo's Total (All you can eat), it says that soft drinks and beers are included. Unfortunately, when billing, it turned out that the drinks were not part of the offer. There is also no dessert included in the price. At almost €36 per person, we felt this was too expensive for the existing buffet selection/offer. However, the food is good so far. The different types of vegetables and meat are fresh and clean in the buffet counter. There is a good list of sauces for allergy sufferers (there are also many gluten-free sauces/dishes available). The service was friendly, quick and attentive.

Update: Unfortunately, some sauce recipes have been changed and some are no longer gluten-free. Delicious food. Gluten-free possible. Service is friendly. A bit noisy if you have the wrong table. In summer you can also eat outside.

There were 9 of us there today including 2 children. We've been to the Mongolian restaurant several times and it's always been delicious, but today I would particularly like to highlight the waitress' great way of dealing with the children! It really made the lovely evening complete. Gladly again!

In any case, a stop at Mongo's is a must when visiting Duisburg's inner harbor. In addition to the buffet standards such as beef, pork and poultry, there are also unusual types of meat and fish. The dessert for 2 people is great. Super nice and attentive staff. The whole thing is rounded off by an appealing ambience.

Well located, but a bit tight between the tables. When we visited it wasn't full, but it was quite loud, which was also due to the background music. The recommendations regarding the marinades were perfect. Drinks were a bit more expensive, but the bowls, which were priced by weight, were perfectly fine. The food itself was nothing special, buffet with a lot of choice, the food was then grilled, as is usual with the Mongolian buffet. The whole thing tastes particularly good thanks to the really delicious marinades!

Would always recommend the restaurant. We are here in Duisburg as holidaymakers and were initially overwhelmed by the menu when we arrived at the restaurant. Thanks to the lovely waitress who noticed our desperation, we became smarter and understood the menu very well. We were also recommended to try something new.😉 Everything was just right. Ambience and cheerful waiters. What we unfortunately missed were the insects at the buffet, as we really wanted to test them out. But even without insects, we all went home very full and happy. 😅

Fantastic food & first class service! We had a great evening at Mongo's Testourant in Duisburg. The food was simply fantastic – fresh, tasty and perfectly prepared. The ambience is pleasant and invites you to linger. Particularly noteworthy is the friendly and helpful staff, who were attentive at all times and really put the customer first. The service was consistently excellent! We will definitely come back and can highly recommend the restaurant. An all-round successful experience!

Definitely worth a visit again and again. The food and selection is fantastic and so individual. The waiters were very nice and accommodating. The restaurant even has something to do for children. But I would particularly like to emphasize the allergy-friendliness. Everything is labeled and you even get a card with all the marinade ingredients on it. Plus, the board is labeled as an allergy board, so the food is fried separately. So really, really good. The price-performance ratio is absolutely great because you can really help yourself to as much as you want. I can highly recommend it to everyone.

We always reserve with a dog. This is always taken into account and he gets a water bowl. Totally nice and attentive service, small errors are corrected immediately and without any hassle. Great recommendations if you ask. Only sometimes a little louder when very busy. But you can still have a good time.

Celebrated my husband's birthday today at Mongo's Duisburg. What can I say, everything was perfect! The entire staff was also very sweet with our daughters and we had a lot of fun and were able to enjoy the food to the fullest. After the children were finished, they were even provided with painting supplies from the restaurant and happily painted while we were able to finish eating. There was even a small ball on the house for the children. What a service! Absolutely great and not a given! Thanks also to Chanel. She tried very hard, was on point and impressed with her nice and funny manner. Until next time 😊

A great and unusual restaurant that doesn't come around often in my opinion. The staff was top. Very nice, accommodating, funny and quick. The food is something different. Everything is freshly prepared, the only thing that didn't really convince me was the quality of the meat. There was a lot and a good selection, especially when it came to fish. The meat was also good but nothing special and unfortunately often frozen, the marinades and sauces are terrible. Lots of variations and different directions. Definitely something for everyone. Definitely in the higher category in terms of price. Food around 33€ and drinks for example a small beer 5€, a Gosse spritzer 5.50 and cocktails from 8-15€. In total A great shop that I will visit again. Great, keep it up

Went to Mongos today to celebrate my husband's birthday in a small group. We were lucky enough to have Chanel as our waitress. She was super friendly, always took her time and recommended great juices to our daughter. This makes eating at Mongos even more fun :) Her recommendation regarding the sauces was also great. We are already looking forward to the next visit :)

Mongos has very fresh food. Here you can put together your own plate/bowl and it will be fried in a previously selected sauce. Unfortunately, most sauces are spicy. The restaurant is nice. When filling the food you stand a little cramped. The waiting times are okay. The service is friendly and attentive. Personally, I think it's a little too expensive. For me, all you can eat is almost never worth it, so I'm not a benchmark. It's delicious and beautifully located on the inner harbor. Anyone who likes Asian cuisine will be happy here.

Yesterday we were guests at Mongo's in Duisburg. The place was very full and everything was a bit clunky. Nevertheless, the service was friendly and on the ball. Really good. The food was really tasty. Although there is always a tendency to always choose the same ingredients. The marinades are a change here. I think it's positive that the vegetarian version is cheaper, as the price is already higher. However, you can still do it.

Da unsere Kinder dort gerne mal hin wollten sind wir am 2. Weihnachtstag dort hin gegangen. Es war ok aber alle haben gesagt das sie für den Preis nicht nochmal dorthin müssten. Einfach auch zu voll. Unterhalten war schwierig da es sehr laut war.

Toller Servicer, schönes Restaurant, viel Auswahl. Allerdings kann es auch recht eng und laut werden wenn das Restaurant gut gefüllt ist.

Mein Mann und ich waren heute mit unseren zwei Kindern da, und wir haben uns rundum wohl und gesehen gefühlt. Das Essen war mega lecker und der Service, der beste, den ich je hatte mit Kleinkindern. Das Lokal ist wirklich mehr als kinderfreundlich, und so hatten wir heute einen echt schönen Hochzeitstag. Vielen Dank!

Das Buffett ist gut sortiert aber nicht überragend . Der Red Snapper ist nicht der Fisch der sich , mit Haut , zum Braten auf der Blancha eignet die Haut verknorpelt und wird nicht essbar . Für Gäste mit einer Intoleranz ggü Schärfe steht nur eine Soße zur Verfügung. Leider . Alles in allem eine schöne und gute Erfahrung. Es hat geschmeckt, die Bowls kamen zügig an den Tisch und der Service auf der Fläche war auf dem Punkt präsent und äußerst zuvorkommend. Wir haben uns wohl gefühlt und kommen gerne wieder nach Duisburg.

Unser Lieblingsrestaurant. Super Service - Kellner/in sind höflich und schnell. Die Lebensmittel sind frisch und sehr abwechslungsreich und wird immer schnell auf gefüllt (Buffet). Ambiente ist richtig toll - allerdings einen 1 Stern Abzug, da für mein Empfinden die Tische zu nah beieinander stehen und ein/e Kellner/in gerade sehr knapp rein passt. Ansonsten empfehlenswert!

Wir lieben den Sonntagsbrunch! Auch heute war wieder alles wundervoll, eine riesige Auswahl die durchgehend aufgefüllt wurde. Alles frisch, viele ausgefallene Zutaten – wir kommen immer gerne wieder :) Kleines Minus: Gegen den starken Geräuschpegel könnte man bestimmt mit Deckenabsorbern etwas tun, die Waffelstation riecht leider sehr stark bei Inbetriebnahme

Das war ein sehr gelungener Abend. Wir wurden von sehr freundlichem Personal begrüßt, was sich in allen Bereichen durch den Abend zog. Das Konzept ist genial und das Ergebnis und Erlebnis ebenso. Absolut empfehlenswert !!!

Zugegeben war ich erst skeptisch - eine Kette kann ja nicht so gut werden. Aber ich bin positiv überrascht! Der Service top, alle total freundlich. Das Konzept gefällt mir richtig gut und das Essen ist toll. Kein 0815 Asia mix (man kennt ihn...). Komme gerne wieder. Bin wirklich überzeugt

It's been a while now, more precisely on August 27th, 2024, we went to Mongo's for the first time and were simply thrilled. Starting with the location, basically on the promenade with a great view, we sat on the terrace and had the best waitress ever!!! Her name is Jenny and you and your service qualities were our highlight of the evening (alongside the excellent buffet offering of course). She represented the store well and sweetened our evening with passion and fun. Unfortunately, her expertise has become a rarity in gastronomy these days and yet I wish every good restaurant a "Jenny" because she is responsible for ensuring that guests experience an unforgettable evening in addition to the culinary delights. P.s. dear Jenny, thank you for charging your cell phone 😉
