Wow, wow, wow!!! One of the best restaurants I have been! First of all, the place is beautiful, the staff is extremely nice and attentive. And to the highlight - Food! Every dish is a pice of art. Visited yesterday on the 17th of Juli 2025. The restaurant was not crowded, had a good atmosphere and the staff were nice. We had never tried eating insects before and actually found it to be pretty good. It just tasted salty and crisp, like chips. However the dishes (especially the main dishes) themselves we were not a fan of. It was a mix of many strong flavours, that were too much (strong sour, hot and bitter at the same time). I think there could be much potential in your insect concept and expanding the idea to the public. But I think it would require, that you make some more neutral / common dishes. Like stews, insect bolognese (like the one you had displayed), pizzaslice / foccacia with cheese, tomato and insects as topping, insects with different dips and fries, etc. You could also serve a small appetizer for the table with only fried insects and dip. That could be a nice way to start. :)

Mikrokosmos. Macro-awesome. Highly recommended: starters, main courses, desserts – the two of us enjoyed almost the entire menu, each with two different starters, main courses, and desserts. Plus an aperitif and house wine. Hallelujah! Insects are optional, but a treat is guaranteed. You don't really want to praise Mikrokosmos so loudly, so it remains an insider tip. Pssst!

A place like something out of a fairytale, enchantingly magical, and Berlin-perfect in its imperfection. The small but exquisite menu offers Peruvian-influenced dishes made with select regional produce, far removed from the ordinary. The flavors explode in the mouth and harmonize perfectly with the natural wines. The cuisine is worthy of a star, and at a reasonable price.

Food at the highest level! Always a great selection of seasonal dishes, with surprising and simply delicious flavors.

Initially, the service was very nice... Unfortunately, one dish was too salty for us to eat and not very tasty all together (aspargus with pumpkin creme), we left it aside. No compensation from the house, not even a shot at the end (which cost the house little to nothing)... I know gastronomy is a real hard tough business but maybe just make a lil bit of an effort when you see a guest doesn't like something from your menue. I Won't return. Wow. I've rarely been so overwhelmed by the taste of a meal in Berlin lately. The prices are very reasonable for the quality, the service was excellent and the ambience fits the overall package.

Well, what can I say. This is a beautiful experience, from the start to the very end. Genuine service, kind and knowledgeable. The food experience is above and beyond, with or without insects. Well made, and with respect to the ingredients. Get some natural wine too, and ask for recommendations. The owner knows her wines. And the atmosphere… filled with thought provoking art and soft music. And I’m not someone that leaves Google reviews. I’m also not someone that exaggerates my experience. Congratulations on such a beautiful project. Looking forward to coming back soon.

Magnificent cuisine. Long live the insects but not only that.

We were told the food was good, so we had to try it. But it was the greatest surprise to have enjoyed one of the best meals ever. Everything we had was spectacular. We’ve learn the dishes change very often so that makes a great excuse to keep coming back and keep being surprised. Also the service was delightful

Amazing restaurant. Peruvian fusion (which could be better) with zero KM products. Vegan ceviche, mussels, the incredible paro, delicious mezcal sour and problemo one of the dishes with insects. Brutal!. The best of Berlin.

We had a blast. We were a bit worried that the insects might be a gimmick, but it was refreshing to see the chef thoughtfully incorporating them into the dishes. Now to the food. There was not a single dish we had where there was something to complain about. Everything that came out was excellent. It was also nice to see the chef being bold enough to add more spice than you would typically expect from an upscale restaurant. For me, the deer was probably the highlight—seeing game combined with South American flavors was a great touch. The insect fritters were amazing as well. While dill isn’t my favorite herb, the aioli and chili sauce balanced it out beautifully. The fried herb itself was very well executed. The mussels with the tiger milk were another standout, with a deep umami flavor that made the dish really memorable. And the tostada was awesome. I was initially concerned that the corn flavor of the tostada might get overshadowed by all the spices, but it held up really well. Honestly, I’m surprised this restaurant isn’t receiving more recognition. The food, flavors, and execution were on par with some of the best dining experiences I’ve had. It was a wonderful and super fun experience, and it’s been a while since I left a restaurant feeling this satisfied with the food.

Yep, we did eat the insects and they were a delicacy - alongside very creative dishes with high-quality ingredients! In 5 weeks, when there’s a new menu, I’m there again. For sure. The restaurant looks inconspicuous from the outside, but a pure taste experience awaits you inside. We ate up and down the menu and were more than impressed. The craft beers, from a small local craft beer brewery, are also amazing. In addition, packaged, fried worms are offered to give relatives and friends a little culinary trip.

Outstanding Peruvian food, with or without insects

If you want to try really excellent food Mikrokosmos is the perfect place. The menu is very varied, there are dishes made with fresh, seasonal and harvested ingredients from the region. The menu includes some dishes with insects but it is not the only thing, there is much more variety, for all palates. And the flavor is truly spectacular: the chef knows how to create combinations of original and tasty ingredients. And by the way, the portions are spectacular ;) you leave very satisfied ;) oh the ceviche is incredible and the service unbeatable!!!

An explosion of taste buds in a multilingual, family company. Incredibly tasty and sensually prepared. Anyone who has seen the film Ratatouille and wondered what the little rat was trying to express when he spoke of an explosion of the senses must definitely eat here to experience it. Should not be missing as an experience in any human life.

We really had a wonderful meal here. The service was consistently friendly and explained each course again. We had the menu mainly with insects. Every course was a pleasure. The best were the caramelized grasshoppers and the tart at night (which we consider to be among the top 5 desserts we have ever eaten). We would love to come back, keep it up.

One of our favorite restaurants in Berlin. The unique and vibrant flavors are on a world class level. It is only a matter of time until chef Diego Castro gets recognized by the top restaurants lists. Berlin needs more chefs like Diego. His modern twists on traditional Peruvian and Mexican dishes are amazing. His mastery of flavors is evident in every dish. One added note....do not ignore this restaurant if you are not ready to try the insect dishes. They have an insect experience menu and a separate menu without the insects. We went several times before we ventured into trying some dishes from the insect menu. We have ventured into the insect experience menu our last few times and have been wowed by dishes on both menus. Diego's partner Nicol is great at answering questions and making you feel comfortable to try some dishes from the insect menu when you are ready, without any pressure. But again, you will have an amazing dining experience regardless of which menu you order from. We get excited every time we make a booking to go to Mikrokosmos and would highly recommend it. They also have an excellent Pisco Sour!

Fried insects are crunchy. But overall, the portions in this store are on the small side.

Also suitable for people who don't want to eat meat. Good concept. Seasonal ingredients, mostly regional. Peruvian take on asparagus dishes was very good and had pizzazz. Everything with or without insects. You can try insects, but you don't have to. They just taste fried. Dessert is uninteresting. Delicious orange wine. Very nice service 👍

Amazing food, very surprising flavours and very elavorated and balanced dishes

Mikrokosmos is perhaps the experience that has brought me most home, to the Andes, since I have been living in Berlin. Which perhaps sounds strange, being a restaurant that relies on local and seasonal products. Yet the white asparagus ceviche is the best ceviche I have eaten so far in Berlin. There are 3 types of menu that you can choose from: vegetarian, meat and insects. The staff was very kind and very nice. A great discovery.

Mikrokosmos is a very special restaurant, a real gem. We are very happy that we discovered it and will definitely go again. The cuisine is a fusion of Peruvian, European and completely new trends, such as edible insects! You can hardly get them in restaurants yet. But if you don't like insects, you don't have to: there's a separate menu for that. Everything was delicious, including the water kefir and the desserts. Highly recommended if you want to eat very tasty but not too expensive and perhaps also experience something new.

Amazing Place in Berlin - NeuKölln. You will have the feeling that you are in a Laboratory of a crazy scientist in the middle of the Amazon Jungle. Food is risky but very well balanced. Both versions with insects or insects - free. Insects based food is the translation of a very consistent philosophy based on sustainability. Both kitchen and service are top and you have the feeling to be at home. Very interesting Natural Wine List which makes also a hot spot for the natural wine aficionados. Overall, a very positive experience and not only for one-time-discovery. A place to be back and back

A truly excellent experience, all around. Excellent service from the owners (who speak English, German, Italian and Spanish). A strong emphasis on sustainability means the menu changes frequently based on availability and seasonality, using primarily German ingredients with a Peruvian interpretation. Deliciously well done. We went for the insect testing menus, but they also have vegetarian and meat based options, something for everyone!

I've been really excited for a long time to try this place, and I have to say we had a very warm welcome from the hostess, and the passion for the topic really shows. I do believe in their vision and that this will probably be the way forward when it comes to food. However, I must say that the menu didn't have that much variety, probably it has to do with the German regulations when it comes to the topic but I expected it to have a little more variation of insects and menu items. All in all, the food is well made, and the atmosphere is really nice. Worth the visit.

The service was great, the shop was empty (during the week). The two of us got rid of 100 euros, each starter and main course plus drinks. Considering that we left there hungry, it was clearly too expensive. The portions (both with and without insects) are far too small, so we went out to eat first 🙄

I had dinner at this restaurant with my boyfriend and we had a wonderful evening. Seasonal and refined cuisine, the dishes are bombs of flavour, delicious! I recommend the menu with insects, they were a nice discovery from appetizer to dessert. Nicol will be able to help you choose the dishes and accompanying wines/drinks. The attention to detail can be perceived not only from the delicious combinations in the kitchen, but also from the service, attentive, prepared and available, and from the environment: warm and welcoming, the priests of the restaurant host a small art exhibition. Paintings and/or photographs by international artists which, as an art lover, I greatly appreciated. Nicol and Diego, you were two fantastic hosts! I can't wait to bring all my friends to Mikrokosmos!

Wir wollten eine erste Erfahrung machen und einmal Insekten probieren. Wir wurden zunächst einmal beraten und alle unsere Fragen wurden beantwortet, dass fand ich super. Essen war super lecker, kann es jedem nur empfehlen dort einmal hinzugehen. Wir hatten nur etwas von der "Insektenkarte" aber um uns herum sah auch alles super lecker aus. Die vergoldete Praline zum Nachtisch war mega. Kommen gerne wieder

Richtig nettes Personal! Das Essen war wunderbar. Alle Speisen sind auch ohne Insekten zu haben, aber es lohnt sich die Speisen auch mit den Insekten zu probieren.

Nicole e Diego sono molto gentili e trasmettono allegria. Spiegano dettagliatamente le specialità e ti guidano nella scelta di vini e piatti. Particolarmente originale e sfiziosa la tortilla di mais con ricotta salata, crema di formaggio e grilli al lime. Anche le cavallette e i vermi caramellati o al cioccolato sono assolutamente da provare. L’ambiente è confortevole e familiare, arredato con opere di artisti che espongono in questo ristorante.

Von unserem Sohn in dieses Restaurant geführt. Eine herzliche Begrüßung ( als ob man sich schon ewig kennt) hat uns begeistert. Das gemütliche Ambiente ist sehr einladend. Wenn ihr was außergewöhnliches Essen wollt können wir es nur empfehlen. Wir sind Jahrgang 55 und 57 und fühlten uns sehr wohl. Der Koch und das Personal Spitze. Beim nächsten Berlinbesuch ist das garantiert eine Anlaufstelle. Also rafft euch auf und probiert die leckere Küche. Liebe Grüße an alle im Restaurant. .

Unser Sohn wollte uns mal was ausgefallenes bieten. Sind im Restaurant empfangen worden als ob wir zur Familie gehören. Sehr freundlich und herzlich. Das Essen war total lecker uns interessant. Der Koch ist Spitze und das Personal ebenfalls. Wir können es nur weiterempfehlen. Wenn ihr in Berlin seid, dann besucht das Restaurant.
