The lady at the reception is very busy playing with her cell phone. You first have to get her to talk to you. The rest of the staff just shuffles listlessly through the corridors. In the restaurant, some loud French music is wailing. I ordered a menu that included miso soup as a starter. Everything arrived except the soup. After 10 minutes, I asked and was told the soup would be right away. Half an hour went by. Then a waitress came and said today is Sunday and there's no miso soup. I've never heard such nonsense. I canceled everything and left. I recommend staying away from here. I simply cannot understand where all the positive reviews come from.

I have to say, based on the price and the reviews, I expected a lot more in terms of taste. I've always eaten at Nagoya before, where it's cheaper, and I actually think it tastes better than here. What I liked here was the dessert; I haven't had anything like it anywhere else before, and it was delicious. But I didn't come for the dessert (inside-out rolls with banana), I came for the sushi, and as I mentioned, I found it mediocre at best and a bit dry. The ambiance is really nice, and the food was ready very quickly. For me, however, the taste definitely outweighs the rest in this review, so unfortunately, I'm only giving it 2 stars. It's a matter of taste, I guess.

⭐ 1 star Unfortunately, very disappointing – not recommended. Yesterday, we spontaneously wanted to go to Mikado for dinner together. At reception, we were immediately asked if we had a reservation – we said no. The receptionist then curtly informed us that the restaurant was fully booked and not a single seat was available (it was 8:23 p.m.). Shortly thereafter, we checked online and were easily able to reserve a table for two for 8:30 p.m. – with reservations available every 15 minutes until 10:30 p.m. We booked immediately and went back inside. The receptionist gave us a very strange, almost annoyed look. I politely told her that it was probably "fate" that we were able to eat there after all and showed her the reservation. But unlike other guests, we weren't escorted to a table, but were simply fobbed off with a curt "Just go upstairs and pick a table." When we got upstairs, surprise: several tables were free. Unfortunately, no waiter came, and no one asked us anything. So I went back downstairs and asked to speak to the manager. A colleague came and listened to my description, while the receptionist repeatedly tried to interrupt me and justify why we hadn't been seated initially. Conclusion: very unfriendly and disrespectful treatment, especially at the reception. Although there were obviously free seats, we were initially turned away and then practically ignored. We ultimately left the restaurant – fortunately, there are plenty of good sushi restaurants with better service in Cologne. Never again.

Horrible, not recommended! It started at the reception: rude, unprofessional, and disorganized. Despite having a reservation, we waited 15 minutes to be shown to our table. That's forgivable—it's a Saturday evening, and it's busy. But at the reception, we overheard a colleague loudly yelling at her colleague. In my opinion, this kind of behavior shouldn't be used in front of customers. Then we were seated at a table that hadn't been cleared or cleaned. We waited at that table for 10 minutes until the leftovers from our predecessors were removed. Another 5 minutes until the table was cleaned, and another 10 minutes until we were given the tray. At one point, we asked for a new chopstick because we'd dropped one on the floor. After 10 minutes, none arrived. After asking again, we waited another 10 minutes and still didn't receive one, so we finally got up and helped ourselves. Half of the hot dishes were already cold. The plates weren't even cleared; we ended up with 20 plates stacked in front of us, a very uncomfortable atmosphere. When the ice cream was served, we weren't given any spoons. Here, too, we stood up and helped ourselves to the spoons. We were aware beforehand that all-you-can-eat doesn't correspond to premium cuisine - but serving such poor quality for a total of €80 (2 people) is outrageous. The concept should be reconsidered, and qualified staff should be hired. We will never eat there again. I'd rather spend money on quality than quantity. I can't take anyone who gives good reviews here seriously and can only wonder if they've ever had a good meal in their life.

I've eaten there several times; the food is always fresh and hot, and everything tastes very clean and freshly prepared. I've never had a stomachache afterward. The service is excellent; the staff is usually at your table within a few minutes, and you can order directly from the tablet. There's also plenty of sushi for those who don't like fish. Chicken sushi, or sushi with cream cheese and vegetables, etc. Generally, there's more choice of chicken or fried chicken in the sushi than in most AYCEs. I'd go back again. Very nice atmosphere. Dim lighting, and most of the time, the volume isn't loud, but rather pleasant.

Attention allergy sufferers!!! The allergens are clearly listed on the menu. But unfortunately, they are not complete and are not correct!!! We went to Mikado with our daughter (who has celiac disease, meaning she is not allowed to eat gluten) and were initially pleased that there was written allergen labeling on the menu. Unfortunately, it turned out that some of the items labeled gluten-free actually contained gluten (the meat was breaded with wheat flour, and the soy sauce on top contained gluten). The sweet potato fries labeled gluten-free were gluten-free in themselves, but upon inquiry, it turned out that the frying oil used was also used to fry wheat flour-coated items. Our daughter had already started eating – trusting the menu information – and quickly developed the typical symptoms, which continued throughout the next day. The staff were very friendly and also very upset that our daughter was feeling so unwell, but no one was truly competent. For example, gluten was confused with MSG. Conclusion: A nice place in itself with really friendly staff, but I find it absolutely unacceptable that the menu contains such blatant errors. I'm curious to see if this will change—as we were promised on site. I can only recommend asking very carefully what exactly is in each dish and how it's prepared, otherwise you could be in for a nasty surprise!

Title: Disgust, ignorance, TikTok's illusion – what's happening here is no longer tolerable. I've experienced a lot of things – but this restaurant visit was a low point in every respect. Like so many others, we came to this place via TikTok. Highly praised sushi, supposedly a real insider tip. The sushi actually tasted good. Fresh, cleanly presented. But that was also the only bright spot of an evening that, for me, clearly falls under the category of "never again." The portions were extremely small – especially the sake nigiri, more symbolic than filling. The prices here are in the confident range, but that wouldn't have been so bad if the rest hadn't gotten completely out of hand. The restrooms – and I mean that – are a health hazard. Urine on the floor in front of the urinals, a toilet bowl with a brown streak, paper strewn everywhere, full trash cans, wet floors, no sign of cleaning. The pictures say more than a thousand words – I've attached them. And that's exactly how it looked in real life. I went to the staff and asked for disinfectant. After minutes of guessing and whispering, they handed me a bottle of glass cleaner (!) – that wasn't a joke. There's no disinfectant in the building. And that also explains why apparently no one here disinfects their hands after smoking before serving food again. Because that's the next point: Every minute, employees disappeared for a smoke break. Sometimes in groups. Right in front of the window, through which the smoke was demonstrably drifting into the restaurant. We smelled it. Constantly. Unpleasant. Anyone who enjoys sushi here gets cigarette smoke for free. Anyone who thinks that hands are washed or disinfected after smoking is mistaken – I didn't see anyone doing it. And now comes the truly shocking part: The restroom is in a catastrophic state – but outside, people are smoking and laughing. The focus was noticeably more on private conversations and cigarette breaks than on the hygiene conditions in the establishment. How can smoking be more interesting than at least checking the restrooms once? It's a complete misprioritization, which you as a guest immediately notice. As if that wasn't loud enough, employees were constantly walking through the store with walkie-talkies – sometimes they were radioed in the middle of the room, creating a completely absurd atmosphere. I briefly thought I'd landed in the security zone of a festival. Instead of enjoyment, peace, and atmosphere: noise, smoke, dirt, radio traffic. A disaster all around. ⸻ Conclusion: This restaurant thrives on the TikTok hype. But what you'll find there has nothing to do with reality. Sushi: okay. The rest: substandard. Hygienic borderline. Organizationally chaotic. Humanly sobering. We won't be back. And I sincerely hope that those responsible read this text – and give it some serious thought before someone documents it publicly. ⸻ To the management: If you have the aspiration to handle criticism respectfully and professionally, now would be the right moment. Please leave your work email address in the comments. I am willing to engage in a calm exchange with you. The very least I could do would be a refund for this evening – not out of spite, but out of decency. That's how you compensate disappointed guests and demonstrate your commitment if you're serious.

Instead of caring about the guests, we were made to feel like a nuisance. It's a shame, because we used to eat there often and really appreciated the ambiance and concept. I can't understand the good reviews at all. We ate à la carte and the food arrived in a complete mess, the first sushi after less than 3 minutes. The quality of the fish, sushi, and warm skewers was absolutely abysmal. Examples: The edamame arrived cold (they weren't in a steamer with a lid, but in an open bowl). Instead of sea salt, they were simply boiled in salt water. The fish quality was up to AYCE, which I think most people there do. Skewers were dry. Wasabi was already tarnished on top and dry. The actual crunch around the peppers in the Philadelphia Dream Makis was a soft mush. The salad had a pre-made dressing on it. We left a lot of it because it just wasn't tasty. We usually go for sushi at a different level and at different prices, but what was served here was pretty outrageous and embarrassing. Service was overwhelmed because the restaurant was incomprehensibly full.

We drove all the way from Aachen to Cologne and were looking forward to the all-you-can-eat sushi. The ambiance and service were good, but that doesn't help when the sushi, with a few exceptions, is tasteless and so expensive. There was a lot to choose from, but the quality was rather mediocre and lacked flavor. The price/performance ratio here is completely out of sync, at least when it comes to the sushi. The desserts and hot dishes were okay, the drinks were good, and the service was fast. I wouldn't recommend the sushi.

The fried and other warm/hot foods were amazing, everything tasted really really good! Some sushi tasted a little bland to me but my friend enjoyed all of hers a lot. Large menu to pick from, even if you go for the all you can eat mid-day. We went around 2pm on a weekday so it was very empty and quiet. I've been to a few all you eat restaurants as in Japanese, Chinese, Indian and etc. But this restaurant was a miss. First off, the noise level was way too load. You almost had to speak louder than the people in order to have a conversation. Second, the food. I'm use to having my sushi freshly made or the fried or baked food being fresh. It wasn't the case for me. Fried and or the baked food was dry. Third, the service wasn't so good as I hoped. I know that it's a big place and they have their sections to work but it's easily to lose the sight of everything and it takes a bit longer to being served. I personally wouldn't recommend eating here but I know everyone have their preferences!

A nice restaurant in itself, which allows for plenty of space. We managed to get a table on a Wednesday evening around 7 p.m. without a reservation. The food was tasty, arrived relatively quickly after ordering (more on that below), and the price was reasonable. I highly recommend the fried udon noodles, although the presentation of the food could use some work (the shrimp were simply skewered and placed on top). The worst part, however, was the service. A young lady with long black hair was in charge of our area (the upper area right when you enter). She was friendly, but we sat for at least 15 to 20 minutes before she actually took our orders. She initially asked if we'd found anything, but she was obviously still engrossed in the menu, so she told us to just let us know. When we finally found what we were looking for, she walked past us at least twice without responding to my "call." We then had to tell another waiter, who was apparently only responsible for bringing the food, and even then it took quite a while. What upset me most, however, was the fact that during our visit (especially while we were waiting for her to take our order), the lady in question was obviously standing in front of the restaurant door and - in my opinion - wasn't taking a break, but was instead taking care of personal matters on the phone. I was sitting facing the door, so I could see that her phone conversation wasn't exactly pleasant and that she was very charged up. Every now and then, customers would come in, whom she would then greet in passing, holding her cell phone to her chest, before immediately going back outside to continue her phone call. To me, that doesn't seem very professional, and I think it's simply not appropriate. Especially when you're standing right in front of the restaurant and apparently really not taking a break because no one else was apparently in charge of her area. When she finally seemed to have the mercy to take our order, she didn't even come with a notepad or anything to write everything down. It could have been that we ordered more than 10 things or something 🤷‍♀️ That, too, is simply unprofessional in my opinion. But at the end of the day, everything was delivered correctly. Anyone can have a bad day, and I don't want to judge that at all. However, this experience simply didn't reflect well on the restaurant as a whole. I understand if someone has personal problems, perhaps brings them to work, etc. But to apparently sort something like that out on the phone during working hours (even if it didn't per se affect her friendliness towards us) is simply not acceptable to me. Then they should just take half an hour off, but also make sure their guest area is covered and their service doesn't suffer as a result.

I find many of these tablet all-you-can-eat Japanese restaurants quite creepy or subpar. Mikado is a really solid choice, though. The selection is good, and most of it tastes really good. The side dish selection is also good for me as a vegetarian. The quality isn't particularly outstanding, but it's perfectly fine. The desserts are rather below average and rather bland in taste. In each round, each person gets to choose five items. What drives me crazy is that sauce, which is as much a part of fried food as mayo is of French fries, always gets deducted one item, and the portion is then super tiny. The restaurant is large and nicely decorated. Unfortunately, it's warm and oppressive downstairs. I found the service to be rather mixed, but somehow everything always worked out. All in all, the value for money is very good, and if you want Japanese all-you-can-eat, it's probably here. I would always make a reservation on Saturday nights!

I really enjoy going there as a highlight (e.g. for a birthday or Easter) and have never been disappointed. The food is very, very tasty and with a waiting time of 15 minutes per round you can get there easily. The only small defect: • Sometimes when you order something in one round it doesn't arrive. Then you can order it again in the next round. (Something happens when it's full that something gets forgotten, it's just a shame) Otherwise there were never any problems. Everything looks very nice and modern and there is something for everyone, be it sushi or fried food, etc. “All you can eat” is worth it for the price and serves as a special experience on special occasions. Always happy.

We have been here several times now, the reservation was made via Quandoo. However, after our arrival they were unable to confirm the reservation. Instead it was cancelled. After my comment and re-booking 45 minutes later, the same thing happened. Apparently the staff doesn't know the technology, much to the annoyance of the guest. The menu is very extensive and varied, so there is something for every taste. The service staff welcomed us quite sober. Shortly after the first order we received the first dishes. These were all fresh and delicious. Some of the sushi rolls (the fried ones) were very large so you had to cut them up. Compared to the quality and sophistication of the food at Mu-Kii or Grand Asia in Saarbrücken, Mikado doesn't do quite as well. Many sushi rolls taste the same, so highlights are unfortunately hard to find. Some combinations like sushi filled with peppers are rather atypical and quite unimaginative. Maybe you should pay less attention to the quantity on the menu and concentrate on fewer and more "rounded" dishes in terms of taste. The Mikado is worth a visit and can definitely keep up with the Okinii. It would be desirable to have some homemade lemonades on the drinks menu.

We were at Mikado accompanied by guests from America. The ambience can be rated as excellent, and the location is also excellent. It was found that the quality of the food is directly related to the number of guests. My experience with Mikado has been positive. Unfortunately, today's food, which was very busy, was not edible. I just had my first date here, and everything was going very well until the end, when at some point several mice ran from the bottom corner of the restaurant straight into the kitchen. At first I thought I wasn't seeing correctly, but then when I noticed the view from a neighboring table, I knew I was definitely seeing correctly. We were initially asked not to carry this around in a big way in the restaurant. When we then wanted to pay, of course not the full price, see BGB paragraph 437 ff., we were offered a “nice” 20%. After a long discussion and at the request of showing the mouse traps that had supposedly been placed, we were told that mice were “normal” in the catering industry. In the end, we paid for our cocktails out of niceness and walked out of the restaurant with cheeky, follow-up comments.

The waitresses wouldn't survive in a restaurant. They were nice, but didn't know much about service. It was like a fast food restaurant. When I order high-quality sushi 🍣, for 32 pieces I'm well below this price for 2 people and I'm full. That's why I prefer quality and not overeating, like eating lots of things that are only half as tasty.🤷🏼‍♀️ I think for this price you can and should expect more quality, that's my conclusion.

Allerdings wurde der Besuch durch etwas absolut Unakzeptables überschattet: Mitten im Restaurant lief eine Maus herum. Als ich den Kellner und den Manager darauf ansprach, wurde mir gesagt, das sei normal, das Gesundheitsamt sei mehrfach da gewesen, und die Maus gehöre quasi dazu. Ich war sprachlos. In einem Restaurant – insbesondere bei offener Küche und rohem Fisch – darf es unter keinen Umständen Mäuse geben. Dass dies dort offenbar bekannt ist und nicht als Problem angesehen wird, ist absolut inakzeptabel. Ich kann dieses Restaurant niemandem empfehlen. Mäuse im Gastraum sind kein “Charm” oder lokales Maskottchen – sie sind ein Hygieneproblem, das ernst genommen werden muss.

The food was definitely delicious. We felt comfortable there. The only thing to complain about is that the service staff was inattentive. At the beginning we had to wait about 15 minutes until we were noticed and a tray was handed to us. You had to say 3 times that you wanted to pay and then after a good 10 minutes someone came to bill you. Normal cutlery was only available after the 4th request. Nothing dramatic, but it was a bit negative. But one also has to say positively that the orders always came quickly. A few times something was missing, but you still get full there and as I said, the food is also very edible :) And for all dog owners... dogs are also welcome there and are also provided with a bowl of water.

We went to this restaurant this evening for all you can eat. On the third round of ordering we discovered a live maggot on the cucumber salad - absolutely disgusting and unacceptable! We immediately informed the waiter, who was also the shift manager. However, his reaction was more than disappointing. No shock, no apology - just the question of whether we would like a new cucumber salad (of course not!). The bowl was taken away without comment. Point. Not a word of regret, not an insight. Of course we lost our appetite after this incident. When we told him this and explained that we didn't want to eat the rest, we were told that there was nothing we could do about the price - it was "already late in the evening". Particularly outrageous: His statement: “I can understand you in private, but not in business.” What does that mean please? Like we're friends? Completely inappropriate and completely off track. After a long discussion, we reluctantly received a 15% discount - accompanied by stroppy, arrogant comments. An apology? None. A restaurant that deals with such a serious lack of hygiene in such an indifferent and unprofessional manner is absolutely unacceptable to me. We will definitely never come back and strongly advise everyone not to do so!

But what's a bit strange is what happens every time: After the 3-4 rounds, food just gets mixed up or not at all. Dishes that have been ordered do not arrive or are sometimes very late. Unfortunately, the temperatures of the fried dishes are often lukewarm and sometimes cold. Otherwise the food tastes really good. However, the service is sometimes very overwhelmed. Tables are no longer cleared and only after asking does an employee come and take the empty plates away. You also notice a certain level of stress among the staff.

Disappointing experience – not recommended! Unfortunately, our visit to the Mikado was anything but pleasant. Although we were quickly shown to our table, we had to wait over 30 minutes before anyone even took our order. Several times staff walked past to clean other tables or bring food, but we were completely ignored. No greeting, no apology, not even a brief information that someone would take care of us straight away. Only when we became active ourselves did the staff react. The hygiene also left a lot to be desired - the tables, trays and cutlery were sticky. The staff was unfriendly and the food was carelessly slapped on the table. Absolutely not justified for the price! There is no difference from your average all-you-can-eat restaurant.

Today, on February 2, 2025, three of us arrived with a reservation. We were greeted by a young, unfriendly waitress. She asked all the guests in line at the entrance in an annoyed manner: "Reserved?!" Instead of being escorted to a table, the guests were told to choose one on the top right. Done, we sat at table 12. Reservation for 6:00 PM. We were seated at the table at 6:15 PM (still within the time limit). So we sat there and sat and sat and sat. Table 13, which arrived even later, was a bit impatient, and at about a quarter to 7:00 PM, she went to the unfriendly waitress, who then gave the tablets to the table to order. We also received the tablets at the same time, and our first order was taken from the tablet at around 6:50 PM. The first round… 50 minutes after arrival. But things can always get worse, which is why I personally didn't get to eat my first sushi until around 7:40 p.m., almost an hour later. So I'd been sitting there for an hour and a half without eating 😂 But the food was definitely fantastic! No, it wasn't. Compared to the previous times, it was the worst. What was supposed to be hot came cold, and what was supposed to be cold was almost warm. Several items didn't come at all, but a few items we didn't order did. I'm incredibly disappointed to have spent my birthday here today 🙃

The food was good, but the service was slow and unfriendly. We waited 30 minutes for forgotten dumplings. The restrooms were unusable; they were clogged and dirty. Unfortunately, as we were leaving the restaurant, we saw that the salmon sides were sitting in plastic boxes on the uncooled counter, without any ice.

This restaurant has a good selection of sushi with great lunch deals. The quality of the food was good and the price is reasonable and exceptional with the lunch deals. However, the service is just ok and can be quite slow. I went there in an afternoon there were just two table there including me but they forgot my drinks orders and I need to request it again after 20 mins. Overall it was just an ok experience.
