Delicious food and friendly service. A lovely Bavarian ambiance with a small outdoor terrace.

Never again 🤮 The food arrived within 5 minutes from ordering to serving. The (exclusively) bread dumplings tasted far worse than the ones from the pre-packaged ones. They've been swimming in the broth for hours and are taking on the flavor of the bullion. The roast pork was 90% fat, the waitress told me from her shoulder that it could be that 🤣 good joke. The 1/4 duck was also from the day before yesterday, the meat dark and dry. The "dark beer sauce" consists of clear broth and has nothing in common with dark beer, as it's 95% diluted. That speaks for itself. The owners are obviously not Bavarians, you can tell by the way they prepare it. After asking if we liked it and saying no, they immediately argued and turned us away. Why ask, overwhelmed if you don't like the answer? 🤦‍♂️😅

We were passing through and discovered the Metzgerbräu thanks to Google. We had the onion roast beef and goulash with dumplings, beer, and a good red wine. The service was friendly, and the food was delicious. If we ever land in Bad Tölz again, we'll definitely go back to the Metzgerbräu. Thank you very much.

Beautiful restaurant, beautifully quaint, in a nice and pleasant way. The food is all homemade and served very quickly. The service is very prompt and attentive. In conclusion: I highly recommend it; you can also sit outside, of course.

We always enjoy coming back: delicious, authentic Bavarian cuisine at fair prices, friendly hosts, and usually a free table. The highlight is the freshly tapped Augustiner beer on tap – simply perfect!

A typical, very welcoming place. The food is good, with a wide selection of local dishes. A stop for a good beer and a delicious meal is worth it. The schnitzel is truly excellent. The place is very clean, as are the restrooms.

What a shame about this quaint and traditional inn, with such a great dining room, regulars' table, and tavern! Unfortunately, the staff are all foreigners; no one wears a dirndl or lederhosen. 👎🏻👎🏻 Modern, totally inappropriate music is playing from the speakers in the dining room. 👎🏻👎🏻 The food is run-of-the-mill and lacks any particular taste. It's sad that the old inn culture is being lost in this way. 😔

Good, down-to-earth food at reasonable prices. The terrace is secluded and quiet, despite its proximity to Marktstrasse. NOTE: Be sure to check the notices at the entrance; there are usually more daily specials than listed on the menu.

Ladies and gentlemen, hunter's schnitzel! Unfortunately, it's not on the menu, but a homemade mushroom cream sauce is available as a side dish. Simply delicious!

If it were possible, I would give it minus stars. We wanted to have lunch here with 4 families and 9 children. The bar was empty and the innkeeper said: “If you have so many children, my other guests will go”. Well, the economy was empty. Then please put a sign on the door saying, Children are not allowed. What I also really liked was that there were tons of signs with food awards and different prices were even awarded here. Well, you wouldn't think that the restaurant industry is doing so badly. It is interesting here whether the VAT reduction will be passed on here, I think it will then be increased again here. ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMENDED

This is not the best restaurant I've ever been to. The food there is simply ready meals. We got expired cream with our coffee and ketchup was the cheapest brand. The service was friendly, but we ordered a mug of coffee and got a small cup instead. We were on the terrace and the atmosphere wasn't that great. The price is more than the food value.

It’s sooo delicious! The Haxe is very beyond expectations, the best I‘ve eaten in the year! Both dishes are nice, seasoning and sause taste very authentic and delicious, we finished everything in 20min 😂 Plan to come back to the city for this restaurant😋

We went for dinner with a family friend and unfortunately we can't give a good review. I ordered a Lüngerl with bread dumplings, the Lüngerl was rubbery, the sauce was totally watery and the bread dumplings weren't exactly good either, the combination of the two wasn't a treat - some spice was very dominant. I've never eaten such a bad Lüngerl - unfortunately I had to give it back because I couldn't eat it. My husband and son had a crusty roast with dumplings, which neither of them liked - the dumpling again had these spices, the meat was full of fat and the crust was quite flaky, the sauce was much too watery. My girlfriend wasn't thrilled with her salad either, it was hardly seasoned and the salad dressing was too little and tasteless. The other three had schnitzel, currywurst and fries and were thrilled. We can't recommend it from a culinary point of view, it's a shame.

Just the thing if you are looking for a classic inn in Bad Tölz. Good, down-to-earth food and relaxed staff. A large guest room in a centuries-old Bavarian townhouse. I look forward to every visit there. Restaurant fans go elsewhere.

70 years of class reunion, goulash with bread rolls, then apple strudel with vanilla ice cream and cream, cappuccino rounds everything off.

Had dinner at Metzgerbräu this evening The place was very nice and rustic, not much going on, but the service was very friendly and accommodating, came straight away and asked us to sit down, and brought the menu to the table straight away. After we ordered drinks and food, the food arrived, it took less than 20 minutes The pork knuckle and cheese spaetzle were very crispy and to the surprise there was a slice of roast pork under the knuckle. By mistake it wasn't intentional, the waitress didn't know anything and just laughed. When we come to Bad Tölz again we will go to the Metzgerbräu again. Big praise to the kitchen.

Great food and great experiences!

The service was very friendly, but not intrusive. She even asked, something I've rarely seen before, if anything was missing, but that wasn't the case. The Cordon Bleu was very good, while the meat from the Tölzer Gröstl (from the daily menu) was unfortunately not that good. The inn is cozy and traditionally furnished in Bavarian style. Overall, a clear recommendation.

The hospitality was very attentive and friendly. The food was really tasty, really good. I had beef roulades and they were just buttery tender and well seasoned. We'll definitely be back.

A really great place. Five of us were there twice during our vacation. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, the food is plentiful and tasty and the atmosphere is rustic and chic. I fell in love with the floral decorations.

The weather was great, the cyclists were like cyclists. The roast pork was an imposition. Fingernail sized crust and the two slices of meat 50% fat. The Croatian operators of a Bavarian restaurant should retire, they are already too old to reorient themselves.

This quaint restaurant is located in a small alley. The food is excellent. The only point of criticism would be the air conditioning of the room. It was a bit stuffy. The service is very attentive and the dessert (warm apple strudel) is a delight

Really not enjoyable! I had ordered an onion roast which unfortunately smelled extremely rancid and then had it returned. In the background my complaint was made fun of. I was then given a Cordon Bleu to compensate, but it wasn't really good either. So, if I ever find myself in Bad Tölz again, I know exactly where I won't stop.

Service was friendly, food was bad. Dumplings were salty, sauce watery, meat dry. The salads with our cordon bleu were forgotten. They were only offered upon request. For dessert there was a schnapps. Other discussions were not discussed. We were looking forward to a quality Bavarian inn. It was very loud and pleasant. One dish was changed shortly after ordering. The waitress was unable to enter the change into the register and apologized. She then wanted to correct the items in the invoice. Unfortunately she forgot that.

Had dinner at the inn twice. Were not disappointed. We ate very well. There were also dishes on the menu that you don't often find, cabbage rolls or stuffed peppers 😄 So delicious 😄

Unfortunately I can't write anything positive about the food. Pork loin with cheese spaetzle and salad. Lettuce leaves wilted and tasteless, meat: 3 very thin, dry slices of pork loin, clearly warmed up, cheese spaetzle more cheese than spaetzle, and the whole thing for €21.50 never again!!!

Great inn, good cuisine, reasonable prices

Once and never again. I have never experienced anything so unfriendly. You are treated strangely and condescendingly when you just want a drink. And you don't have the same problem with change either! If I could give negative stars, it would be full points.

Fair prices, good food and typical atmosphere if you're looking for the "Oberland" experience.

Our lunch there was an unpleasant experience. We weren`t so hungry and ordered 1 beer, 1 water, 1 main dish and 1 side dish for both of us. On taking the order, the "boss" got really upset and called us "kindisch" (childish). He added that we were taking away 2 seats at lunch time from other guests (even though only 2 tables were occupied and no other guests were waiting...Now, when the food arrived we were surprised at the tiny amounts. The 1/2 pork knuckle was more a 1/4 pork knuckle with a lone Semmelknoedl (bread crumb dumpling) next to it. The taste of the food was good, however. Also, it was nice to eat outside as it was a particularly nice day.

I've been there for dinner several times. The service is quick and very friendly. I ate roast pork and schnitzel cordon bleu. Both were perfectly fried and well seasoned. The breading of the schnitzel was crispy and “wavy”. The fries tasted crispy. The roast pork was juicy, the crust was crispy, maybe the coleslaw would have benefited from a little bacon, but that doesn't necessarily have to be the case. The “Safterl” of the roast pork was definitely perfect. There's nothing wrong with that at all. The Metzgerbräu is a really good middle-class restaurant without any chicness or pseudo-modernity. It offers down-to-earth cuisine and good beer. I think the portions and prices are absolutely fine.

Stopped by the Metzgerbräu unannounced at lunchtime on Saturday. Space was easily available and the menus were already laid out at the table. Drinks were served quickly and the food came after about 20 minutes because there was a schnitzel along with the other dishes from the daily menu. Schnitzel was still OK but the fries served were borderline. The much praised cream mushrooms here were rich (cream!!), but a few more mushrooms with all the sauce would have been good. The side salad for €6.20 is quite an announcement for what is on offer!! The well-known Augustiner was served on tap, which seemed to be very popular with the guests if you looked at the tables. All in all, average with some room for improvement. Finally: The waitress did her job excellently! This should be mentioned in relation to previous recessions.

We got a place in the evening without a reservation, it was well attended but not full! Food was very fine.

I was very disappointed with my visit to Metzgerbräu. The food was cold and tasteless, the service was slow and unfriendly, and the ambience was loud and uncomfortable. I waited half an hour for my schnitzel only to find it tough and dry. The potato salad was soggy and sour, and the gravy was watery and bland. The waiter was rude and inattentive, he took my order incorrectly and never refilled me with water. The restaurant was full of smoke and noise, I could barely talk to my friends. I was very annoyed and regretted that I came here. I will never visit this restaurant again and recommend it to everyone. It doesn't even deserve one star.

The variety with Bavarian and Balkan cuisine is what makes it so attractive.

I have been living in Tölz for 3 years and was in the restaurant for the first time today. I was put off by the external impact and the many dishes on the menu. But everything was really fine. The atmosphere in the restaurant is great! The food was very good and the taste of two dishes had the AHA effect (hence 5 stars). Immediately again!

If you are looking for a traditional and middle-class pub, this is exactly the right place. The duck and beer in particular are highly recommended. I would do it again and again, highly recommended

Eine typische bayrische gemütliche Gastätte. Sehr gutes Essen, sehr reichlich mit moderaten Preisen. Sehr empfehlenswert.

Das Essen ist köstlich. So oft wir in Tolz sind, besuchen wir dieses Lokal. Immer frisch, große Portionen und optimale Preise. Wir empfehlen

Schnelle freundliche Bedienung. Essen sehr gut und zünftig. Ambiente rustikal, nur die Beleuchtung ist nicht optimal, kalt und ungemütlich.

Das Essen war sehr gut. Was mich gestört hat ist, dass ich 1 schweinehaxe mit Kartoffelsalat bestellt habe. Bekommen habe ich aber eine halbe haxe. Aussage des Obers " die ist bei uns so". Dann sollte man es auch so in die Karte schreiben. Preis Leistung ansonsten einwandfrei.

Freundliches Personal, Bayr. rustikales Ambiente, große Speisenauswahl, auch eine Auswahl von kleinen Portionen sowie vegetarischen Gerichte. Soweit perfekt... allerdings ist die Qualität der Gerichte leider gerade mal mittelmäßig, schade.

Nach der Kirche, zu Mittag, ins urig gemütliche Bayrische Wirtshaus. Mit sehr guter Speisekarte. Sollte man reinschauen, es lohnt sich.

Rustikales Restaurant in einer Nebengasse mit zünftigem Essen.

Was soll man groß schreiben. Wegen so einer Küche, Gastfreundschaft und Ambiente kommt man nach Bayern. Einfach wunderschön.

Wir würden auch wohl sechs Sterne geben. Wir waren in Bad Tölz und haben uns spontan ohne Reservierung für das Metzgerbräu entschieden. Trotz sehr guter Auslastung hat die sehr freundliche Dame uns noch einen Tisch geben können. Auf die frisch zubereiteten Speisen mussten wir nicht lange warten und sie waren einfach nur super. Auch zum Dessert der Kaiserschmarren ist nur zu empfehlen.

War auf der kleinen Terrasse, - sonnig,ruhig, ca 6 Tische von denen einige reserviert waren! Ein schöner kleiner Ort (Restaurant nicht bewertet) zum gut Einkehren

Ein sehr tolle Gasthaus mit super Essen. Preis/Leistung stimmt. Nettes Personal. Der Semmelknödel mit frischen Pfifferlingen in Rahmsauce ist einfach nur zu empfehlen. Wir kommen wieder.

Alles prima, lecker gegessen. Einziges "Problem": Mittagspause ab 14h und es werden ab ca. 13h25 keine Gäste mehr angenommen, schade, aber natürlich völlig im Recht!

Das Restaurant ist echt zu empfehlen wenn man richtig bayrisch essen möchte. Der Chef wirkt ein bisschen knurrig aber der Service war sehr nett. Das Preis Leistungsverhältnis ist super. Wenn wir mal wieder in Bad Tölz sind gehe ich auf jeden Fall wieder hin
