Women are apparently not safe here. A friend was secretly filmed by a man in this sauna – and although she reported it immediately, the staff did nothing to remove the perpetrator. The reason given was that he was a "regular." Only after the police were called did consequences finally follow. It is simply unbelievable that the protection of guests seems to matter less here than the loyalty of a regular customer. What's particularly bitter is that, according to a TAZ article from October 4, 2025, this man has already attracted attention several times for similar incidents. Anyone who goes here should be aware that the sauna will only react when the police are at the door. Safety and trust look different.

It was OK and they have nice saunas there. We also enjoyed the food in the restaurant (after waiting for an hour). But it was also extremely busy and the owners tried their best. What is completely unacceptable is that, despite the countless notices at the entrance, on the internet and in the sauna area, people are fiddling around with their cell phones. Since we didn't want to cause any trouble on site, we put up with it and accepted it. However, this will mean that we won't be coming back any time soon. Please make it clear at the entrance that you will be asked to leave the premises if staff catch you with a cell phone. And then, of course, make the staff explicitly aware of the fact that they have to comply with this issue. It definitely ruined the whole evening for us. Hence this critical review. And it seems that the issue is not unknown and has already been raised or criticized by others here.

A really good sauna 👍🏼 Would love to go again

A great sauna area with an overall cozy atmosphere. ☺️ The restaurant is also highly recommended 🤤, although it currently involves a bit of a wait. What's really unfortunate, however, is that while there's apparently a strict ban on cell phones (according to the operator and their notices), if no one enforces it and you still encounter people with smartphones at the ready in many (sometimes unexpected) places, this is, on the one hand, quite inconsistent on the part of the operator himself and, on the other hand, very annoying for all guests who feel disturbed by it. In my opinion, technology doesn't belong in a sauna/relaxation area. A good book is sufficient, and if you're not reading, you should just chill. (That's basically what you're there for.) You can be on your smartphone the rest of the year. This doesn't have to be during sauna time (relaxation time). Nevertheless, the sauna is highly recommended, and we would be happy to come back anytime.

What a fantastic place! Not only is the sauna area clean and well-maintained, but the restaurant is too! I'm telling you: the chef knows what he's doing! I haven't eaten this well in a long time. The staff was consistently friendly and helpful! The infusion in the event sauna was exactly that: an event! And the massage was pure relaxation. We'll definitely be back!

Always worth a visit. The food, the service, and the infusions are an experience, and I highly recommend them. Small improvements would include longer benches in the changing rooms and more rest breaks, or perhaps an expansion.

I come to this beautiful sauna complex very often. Everything is superbly maintained, beautifully decorated, the food is always delicious, and the staff is very friendly. It's simply a pleasure to spend time there. The wonderful sauna infusions are also worth praising. Keep up the good work.

I visited the wellness center with a "Premium Wellness Day" gift voucher. It included a massage, scrub, and water. The massage itself was of a very high standard – professional, soothing, and highly recommended. Unfortunately, the voucher wasn't fully redeemed: I wasn't offered a scrub or water, even though I presented the voucher upon entry and at the cash register at the end. As a first-time visitor, I had no idea that I would have to actively take care of it in the restaurant – I assumed that everything would be explained automatically after I presented it. I found the subsequent communication particularly disappointing: Instead of a simple apology for the misunderstanding, I only received explanations as to why I had done something wrong. This unfortunately significantly tarnished my first impression. My conclusion: The center is interesting and the massage excellent, but the treatment and service regarding the vouchers could be improved. For me personally, it wasn't an experience I would recommend.

A truly beautiful sauna area, with friendly staff, delicious food, and reasonable value for money... a place to relax, but unfortunately, there aren't enough relaxing areas inside in winter. Looking at all the photos in the comments, I wish the ban on cell phones, as stated on the signs in the complex, were more strictly enforced.

A truly fantastic sauna complex with beautifully landscaped grounds. The infusions are professional and very intense. The food in the restaurant perfectly rounds things off: very good quality at reasonable prices. The staff is also very friendly. A whirlpool would be a great addition to the facility. The only drawback is that payment is only possible with EC card or cash. Debit or credit cards are not accepted.

Well, the location is nice. But that was about it. It was our first time there. So where do I start? There aren't nearly enough loungers outside for the people there. Loungers are blocked off with towels, and then you see that no one sits on them for two hours. We ordered food too. Mine was great, but my friend got the wrong meal. When he pointed it out, they insisted that this was exactly what he had ordered. Which wasn't true, but oh well. After discussing it, they would have prepared something different. But the incorrect risotto that my friend had was more like rice pudding. They want an extra €25 for the cold chamber, which they have 😂😂😂 great joke. You can also forget about the Maximus sauna, which heats itself up. It looks cool, but it's really bad. The floor in the Maximus sauna is so hot that you can hardly walk on it. There's just a piece of cloth lying on the floor. They didn't even think it was necessary to put a rubber mat in there. The infusion in the event sauna wasn't great either. To be honest, they could have just left it alone.

Caution!!!! Perpetrators are protected by the staff here!! My girlfriend and her roommate were harassed by a man here. They then reported the man to the staff, who, in response, responded with, "He's a regular here, I can't imagine that." The man was then refused removal from the sauna, based on the principle of one person against another. When my girlfriend and I visited the sauna again four months later, naively hoping not to encounter the perpetrator again, we were unfortunately surprised by the opposite. That day, two young women accused the man of secretly videotaping them with his cell phone. The police were notified and confiscated his cell phone. The staff simply said that he was a regular and that no one had ever complained about him—a blatant lie. Dear Meri Sauna, you are a truly idyllic place to relax. Apart from these incidents, my girlfriend and I had a wonderful time. It is unacceptable that this behavior was tolerated and perpetrators are protected. The fact that it had to come to this before the man was banned from the premises is an impertinence and a slap in the face for all women who overcome their fear of going to a public sauna.

Not a safe place for women!! A "regular," described by those in charge on site, has repeatedly harassed women and secretly taken naked photographs of them. When the sauna staff were informed of this, they simply responded, "It's one person's word against another" in the first incident, and, in the second incident, that he was a "really great regular who had never been a problem." The man was able to continue using the sauna until the police were called and was protected by the staff, while women felt harassed, unsafe, and left alone in a relaxation room.

Great ambience, delicious food and friendly staff

A beautiful outdoor area with a swimming pond. There's definitely a sauna to suit every taste. The restaurant is fantastic, and all the staff are exceptionally friendly!

I've been there several times and wanted to give the sauna another chance. It was a disappointment. Poor and unfriendly service at the entrance and in the restaurant. The infusions are lukewarm and, with the thin towels, resemble rhythmic gymnastics. The expert waving looks good, but unfortunately, none of the air being dispersed reaches the guests. There are hardly any places to put your things in the facility. Combined with the understandable refusal to reserve loungers, this is disappointing. There aren't even hooks for bathrobes in the restroom. Be careful, on certain days, only day tickets are available. There are no price tags at the entrance. The restaurant doesn't take orders, infusions, or massages into consideration. However, bringing your own drinks and food is prohibited. The large relaxation room is open and therefore very noisy. Conclusion: If you want to go to a sauna in Leipzig and the surrounding area, it's best to choose another one and save yourself the exorbitant entrance fee. If you just want to relax and lie around naked, Lake Kulkwitz is a cheap and beautiful alternative just around the corner. If you want to go to the restaurant, you can skip the entrance fee and go straight there. This also fits better with the service philosophy. I don't recommend this combination here. Sorry guys, but I probably won't be back.

Saunas as they should be. Great atmosphere. Superb ambiance. Friendly staff, and the food simply delicious. We spent a wonderful day here and can highly recommend the sauna.

I was on vacation in Leipzig and debated for a long time whether to go to the Meri Sauna or the lakeside sauna. I decided on the Meri Sauna, and I'm very happy with it. There's a good selection of five saunas and a steam bath. The infusions are very relaxing, with changing scents according to the infusion schedule. A power infusion with loud music would have been nice, but unfortunately, it wasn't available while I was there. The rooms and gardens are beautifully designed. The swimming pond is also a highlight for me. I deducted one star for the fact that bringing your own food and drinks is officially prohibited, but this is just as poorly enforced as the ban on cell phones.

The outdoor area is my highlight. The saunas are also impressive, and the food is good. I'd gladly return.

We had a wonderful day in the sauna

This is my favorite lake, it is very clean, transparent. It is beautiful to walk around the lake.

Great infusions. Friendly staff. Some of the clientele are unfriendly, would-be snobs (who are very condescending). But that's to be expected from the mayor of Markranstädt, and unfortunately, that's also somewhat normal in Markranstädt. The facility and sauna can't be blamed for that. The food is excellent! The saunas and facilities are all very clean and well-maintained. The same goes for the changing rooms. But the showers outside the saunas are cold, which can be quite a bit of a pain. You have to be careful, especially as a beginner due to circulatory problems. Infusions are fun and worthwhile. I was able to relax a lot.

For me, a day in the sauna is like a day of pure enjoyment and relaxation. The garden, the food, the infusions and aromas, the plunge pool, and the saunas. I'm happy when I manage to visit you again. Negative: Unfortunately, payment is only possible with cash or debit card. This needs to be improved.

The standard remains high, and expansions to the sauna facility, various events, and monthly changing menus are an indication that the owners are passionate about their work. The sauna infusions are celebrated creatively, with humor and a touch of fanfare. Keep it up, we feel very comfortable with you.

Everything was very well done, one of the most relaxing places in Germany! I've visited many of them, and my work also requires me to travel a lot throughout Germany. An absolute must for all sauna lovers.

The sauna offers a pleasant atmosphere for relaxation. However, on weekends, it can be difficult to find free loungers, as many spots are "reserved." The biggest criticism, however, is the payment method: Even in 2025, only cash and debit cards are accepted. Debit and credit cards are not. A more modern solution would be welcome. Still a nice place to unwind—with a few minor adjustments, the experience could be even better.

A wonderful place to relax, offering numerous different saunas and even a cold chamber. The Meri Sauna facilities are lovingly furnished and maintained. The beautifully landscaped garden, with its natural pond for swimming, is a soothing treat for the soul. Something new is constantly being created, and it's a success every time. The fact that the infusions are now accompanied by music takes the experience to a whole new level. Thanks to the excellent restaurant, even working people don't go home hungry after a sauna visit. My only suggestion would be to equip the quiet relaxation room—great that it exists!—with beds like the "normal" one—but that won't be relevant again until winter anyway ;-) Overall, high praise and many thanks to the Meri Sauna team for their fantastic work over the years!

Very nice and lovingly designed ambience.... idyllic outdoor area with 3 cozy outdoor saunas. Very entertaining infusions... the food on offer is also great... the entire staff is very friendly... this is a great place to take a break from everyday life.

It's incredibly beautiful here! The outdoor area is beautifully landscaped and invites you to linger. Even going back to the motorhome because you forgot something is no problem. But the food... WOW 🤩 awesome!!! It's a shame you're so far away otherwise we would be here more often!!!

You can spend the whole day there. Your body and well-being will be taken care of from normal to vegetarian dishes, as well as alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Time is completely uninteresting.

The Meri Sauna offers a good selection of saunas, cooling options (natural pond) and extras such as the ice dispenser. The food is really of very good quality and so is the selection of drinks. What really marred my visit was the general mood there. The loving pensioner at the entrance is really an exception. You will not be greeted in a friendly manner by any other employee. You don't feel welcome. No warmth, no small talk, nothing personal despite the boss's infusion. The utmost care is taken to ensure that there is discipline and order during the infusion - caution is not allowed to laugh, and it is forbidden to whisper anything to the person accompanying you. It's a shame. There would definitely be potential for an all-round feel-good day.

Always good, including the food

In the MERI SAUNA you will find a very differentiated offering. The environment (especially the outdoor area including the natural swimming lake) is very stylish and naturally designed, which literally invites you to relax. You have access to various saunas (different temperatures, sizes, themes) and experience high-quality infusions. The in-house restaurant with extremely friendly and service-oriented people rounds off the experience perfectly Staff. You forget everyday life 100% in this (relatively price-intensive) atmosphere. (minimum deduction: the impulsive automatic infusion system in the Maximus Sauna was unfortunately defective.)

I was disappointed. Point one: I don't understand why you can't book 4 hours on a Monday.? There are only day tickets available on Mondays. Point two: If you're looking for relaxation here, you're really in the wrong place. The relaxation room was anything but a quiet room. Women talking loudly, the loud sound from the sauna area echoing upwards, both from staff and guests. There is also a separate “quiet” relaxation room which of course fills up quickly, but I still believe that a sauna should have a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Of course, if you like the hustle and bustle and noise, this is a great place to be... as the sauna area is really beautiful. It's a shame, I was looking forward to a few relaxing hours.

We were thrilled! Everything was renovated to perfection and very nice staff. Great sauna area, especially the outdoor area! The food was excellent, although relatively expensive. We had to wait almost an hour because entry was closed, but that's definitely "normal" on a Saturday afternoon. Little storage space, especially for sports bags, we had to put ours on the floor. We'll definitely be back!

The sauna itself is very beautiful, lovingly designed and Denis's infusions are really wonderful. The food tastes very good. Unfortunately, the relaxation rooms are completely overcrowded on weekends and it's a bit like lying in a sardine can. In addition, it was too cold everywhere in the lounges and in the restaurant, so you were freezing between sauna sessions. It smelled very musty in the steam room.

Unfortunately it was overcrowded at the weekend and I turned around twice in the parking lot because there was nothing left Update 2024: Unfortunately, it's particularly annoying when you pay a babysitter and can then leave without having a sauna, because there are almost 10 people waiting in the anteroom for someone to come out and someone to come back in.

We were able to spend a very nice evening here. The variety of saunas is wonderful. You can choose between a Finnish sauna and a steam sauna. There is also a wide selection of food and drinks in the restaurant. I had a fish dish. It tasted wonderful. If you like going to the sauna, this is a very pleasant address. A new relaxation room was built in the garden. Some things in the saunas also seem to have been renovated. A great atmosphere here.

We celebrated our 145th birthday in the Meri Sauna restaurant with 40 guests. It was a very nice celebration. We would like to thank the entire team at the restaurant. We and all of our guests were very satisfied with the excellent hospitality, the extremely tasty food and the attentive, friendly service. Here you can spend a great day in the sauna. The food in the restaurant is particularly good. Yesterday (Sunday) we were guests at the MERI Sauna for a cozy girls' sauna day and found it wonderful (again). You can lie outside very well. But we also liked the (new) beds inside. The infusions were just right hot and smelled more than pleasant. The sauna master in the afternoon in particular did a particularly nice job of waving and pouring water. Really great! The food is also great! We'd love to come back :)

We were invited to a golden wedding anniversary. The cold buffet was excellent. Every selection at the buffet was an experience. The house and the surrounding area are highly recommended and suitable for relaxation.

Cool, we haven't been there in years. Today it was very nice and pleasant. Unfortunately the checkout was not very good or very rude. We paid a lot of money for 2 hours (it was ok) totaling 100.50 euros for food and sauna. It's all ok. But the person at the checkout said after I paid with the Apple Watch with my DB account that he had to complain to me that it was a debit card and that contradicted the terms and conditions. He said that next time I would have to think more carefully about how I pay. Aha, I can't keep up with that and I don't accept such arrogance towards a customer. Where do we live? I pay him 100 euros and he gets upset that I pay wrong, that's not possible. I will also request a tax audit from the FA.

A few saunas and a steam room to choose from and all are very clean. Unfortunately the lighting and the general atmosphere is not very relaxing. Because the relaxation room is open to the sauna area, you can see everything from there.

A real disappointment. After 3 years we went to the Meri Sauna and didn't have a nice sauna experience. With the current cold temperatures, it was incredibly cold in the entire complex and the showers also only ran cold from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The lady at reception reacted to the tip very rudely with the comment “you’re not in on it”. It's a real shame when you're treated like that as a guest given the prices. What went really well was the infusion - the employee was great and saved the day. We will think carefully about coming here again.

What a great place to relax. We were guests on a Saturday and were also lucky enough to be able to explore the sauna in beautiful early summer weather conditions. So there was not only a sauna session, but also sunbathing on the many lawns. The area is very quiet, so you can really enjoy the breaks. Our own natural pond also invites you to cool off after sweating. There are a variety of saunas available, so there is something for every desire. The infusion was also professionally designed. The gastronomy is also at a very pleasant level. There are all the usual drinks and freshly cooked food from our own kitchen, so theoretically you can really spend the whole day there. One more note: So far you can only pay with cash or (real) EC cards. Credit or debit cards are not accepted. You should only plan this for your visit, but perhaps this will be adjusted soon as there is definitely demand from customers.
