When we ate there today with relatives, some of us overdid it because the portions were too large, especially the pork schnitzel, which came with a whole cauliflower. The service was friendly, and the kitchen was quite fast considering how much food we had. The only thing missing was the ambiance. We left full and satisfied.

I went there spontaneously with my boyfriend, and we were immediately warmly welcomed, even though we didn't have a reservation. The food was really good and the portions were gigantic. I've rarely seen such friendly service. The young gentleman who served us was always up for a bit of fun. 🤭 Thank you to the restaurant "Zum Ast" for the fantastic food and the wonderful service. 🫶🏼

We're currently vacationing at Kulki for a few days and stumbled upon this place quite by chance due to the need for dinner. Parking outside was a bit tricky, and the atmosphere inside isn't exactly what we'd call cozy, but the food was amazing. We've never seen such huge portions on plates before. Absolutely amazing for the low price, and absolutely delicious. 😋 Many guests had their leftovers packed to go, as did we. We dined on them in our vacation apartment two days later and ate everything in the end. We can therefore highly recommend this garden restaurant; don't forget to make a reservation! 😉

Sometimes unfriendly and arrogant, whether on the phone or in person! The way they talk about strangers and other guests inside is appalling (no, not about me)! I would have that at a "village pub," because it's nothing else, both in terms of staff and ambiance. Oh, and at Christmas, you're supposed to pay between €35 and €45 for a meal! If you do that, it's your own fault, especially when other, more upscale restaurants offer their meals for a maximum of €32.

Our family had severe stomach pains after this meal. The mushrooms that accompanied the schnitzel were unidentifiable, with a bitter, sour taste. We could only eat a few and politely asked what kind of mushrooms they were. The lady said, "If the menu says champignons, then they are mushrooms..." and then she quickly left the table without another word. We found that very strange and rude. The fried potatoes, which we thought were ready-made fried potatoes, were really salty. We noticed that several guests that day returned their plates almost full. We are disappointed 😞 It used to be very good here. What a shame.

We happened to eat there by chance. The ambiance is very nice, and the servers are nice and friendly. Now for the food: The taste is very good; perhaps it could use a bit more spice, but you can always adjust the seasoning, and the big thing is, just look at the pictures. We'll definitely be back.

Good restaurant with delicious food. The "Ast" schnitzel is a great option for those with a huge appetite. A mega schnitzel with a whole cauliflower and the finest potatoes. Very tasty. The service staff was a bit confused at times, but everything worked out. The price/performance ratio is also very, very good for these days.

Simply fantastic 😀 I had the Astboulette (meatball) with fried potatoes 😍 A huge portion for such a good price, it couldn't be better. Kudos also to the waiter who served all his guests in the outdoor area by himself; you did a great job 👍 It was my first time—but definitely not my last 😀

Restaurant with a rustic ambiance. I recommend reserving a table here, as on the day I visited, there was only one server for many guests. It's important to note that the server did a great job. He was very friendly and made an effort, despite the crowd. You don't see that everywhere these days. Of course, it might take a minute longer, but if you know that, it's not a problem. In the end, it's still a big deal to choose something delicious from the small menu and then be surprised by the portion size. I'm just saying, Ast Schnitzel! ...you could easily eat two of that. The price was definitely reasonable. The drink selection was also decent. I sat in the "beer garden," which was covered. I was satisfied and admire the fact that you do such a good job despite the stress!

There were 12 of us eating yesterday. We had reservations, so we didn't have to wait. But the restaurant is also highly recommended for walk-ins. The price/performance ratio is excellent. You practically get two portions for the price. Even considering the amount of food, our food arrived very quickly. The servers were super friendly.

This was my first time here and certainly won't be the last. The restaurant is clean, beautifully decorated, and offers a large outdoor seating area that you can use when the weather is nice. The owners are very friendly and animal-loving, so you can even bring your dog. The food was delicious and well-priced for the really, really large portions. The side dishes can be changed upon request. All in all, I'm very satisfied and am already looking forward to the next time.

This evening, the three of us went to the Gaststätte am Ast restaurant. It was very cozy. The restaurant was well attended. The service was super friendly. The menu selection was very good. There was something for everyone. The portions were very large, but you could also take the leftovers with you. The food was delicious and worth every cent. We will definitely be back. It is not possible to sit outside, not even if we collect and return the plates from inside. No apparent reason for this. If you don't want to make money, it's your own fault 😅🫣

We made reservations for 9 people and everything worked out great. 🤗 Waitress was super nice, helpful and accommodating. ☺️ Food was great, lots of it and huge portions, BUT you can take the rest with you. There could be 2 or 3 more dishes on the menu. Otherwise everything was great ♡

The two of us entered a half-full restaurant and when I greeted and asked in the evening, the only response was WE in “does it look bad today”. When asked whether one could have a quick dinner on the covered seats in the outdoor area, the waiter repeated his statement and confirmed his statement with "he was alone". Everyone can form their own opinion. Apparently there is no longer any desire to earn quick cash. I actually had good memories of the restaurant, but really disappointing service.

It was my first time here and I have to say we will definitely be back. The service was really nice, the food was really tasty, even if the portion was “a bit small” 🙈😄. No joke, the service, the ambience and the price-performance ratio are great. We'll be back.

Finally been here again for a long time. Everything is the same, a rustic restaurant with really hearty portions. Not an overly long card, but what is available is perfect. Huge schnitzel with whole cauliflower was super tasty. A clear recommendation to stop here!

Unfortunately, the waiter says a lot of nice things. I had a farmer's breakfast that had salami in it, but actually diced ham should be in there. My husband had the ast schnitzel hollandaise sauce because there wasn't any on the cauliflower. The schnitzel, one was seasoned the second not really and very rich in fibers. For the money spent on food, I can eat somewhere else and it's much better.

We were at the branch last night and what can I say other than thank you for the lovely evening and the absolutely passionate service 😃. The food 🤗 well, if you think that too much money is being charged for such portions here, you can't help it. The menu is absolutely clear and perfect 👌. We'll definitely be back 😃. Still one of the hottest restaurants in the Leipzig area. Although I moved to the Stuttgart area in 2012, I come here with my wife at least once a year.

Huge tasty portions at a reasonable price. Home cooking doesn't get any better than this. We'd love to come back.

Were there not for dinner, but for an event. The rooms are VERY rustic and not contemporary. I wouldn't go there to eat.

We had dinner here today with our Rotlicht e.V. trade union association and we have to say it was excellent. The staff is trained to answer your own questions. The portions are larger as stated. Even an additional sign would be put up for us. Drinks were pleasantly cold and the decoration was in early style. We were allowed to park our porn SUVs in the yard free of charge and use the staff entrance because of our perfume and the girls in makeup. Prices OK as cash is required here. Service quick and friendly, a bit too intrusive. Croquettes and fries too dark. Portion of meat ok, fries and vegetables too much.

We (my friend and I) have eaten here several times now. The service is very accommodating and regularly asks whether we are OK or missing something. The portions are also very generous, especially for the Astschnitzel or Astboulette. Just one small point of criticism: please put more sauce on the plate 😄😄 my friend had the branch schnitzel and I had the boulette, 4 drinks, dessert and 2 shots for 73 euros, very reasonable and super tasty! 🙏 We would love to come back 😊

I was traveling from Karlsbad via Leipzig via Munich and friends from Markranstädt recommended that I stop here to satisfy my hunger. I had the schnitzel plate. My goodness, are you crazy!? The thing was huge. Plus the cauliflower. 😄 I feel the need to be able to enjoy you again as quickly as possible.

Absolute tip for people who are very hungry. There is nothing wrong with the food and given the quantity, the price/performance is unbeatable. Very nice and friendly staff. You have to make minimal compromises with the rooms, but that doesn't help. We really enjoy being here.

We recently celebrated our wedding in the hall. It was just great. The employees were super friendly and always asked us before they did anything. The staff is great, the boss is super friendly when he comes out of the kitchen. The food is delicious and I'm there often. Personally, I don't like the atmosphere that much, but if you like it rustic, you'll like it there. Personnel are always needed, if someone is looking for a pleasant part-time job with a really friendly team and a good boss, then you've come to the right place.

Were there for the first time and immediately loved it. An inconspicuous garden pub that offers everything a guest could want. The young lady from the service was also super nice and absolutely accommodating. The food was great and the price was absolutely reasonable for the portions. If you like big schnitzels, “Zum Ast” is something special. Despite the huge portions, the quality of the food is very good. It's fun to eat home-style here.

We ate here about 15 years ago and were pleasantly surprised that the dishes are still so big and tasty. Whatever you can't manage is often packed up to take with you. Super young team but incredibly friendly and accommodating. A small problem is that the toilets are very small and difficult for older people to use.

We went spontaneously after visiting a zoo (without reservation) there. Since they don't open again until around 5 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, we were probably lucky to get a table around 5:30 p.m. I chose this restaurant based on Google images of the food 😅 At first glance from the outside you think it's a sports bar. Inside it is also kept quite simple. There is also an outdoor area. Once you have wiped away the first impression, you will receive very nice and friendly service😀 Food was, there is no other way to put it, amazing😄 I had already seen the cauliflower in pictures, but when we were on the way to our table, the cauliflower at the next table literally jumped out at us, it was so big. Covered with an even more gigantic schnitzel😅 The schnitzel with tomato & mozzarella, however, was a normal portion. My meatball (meatball/beefsteak) was also huge, absolutely impossible to manage with fried potatoes and 4 fried eggs, at least for me! But everything was super delicious and the Google images I looked for are absolutely true 🥰 So if you complain in most restaurants that the portions are too small, I can only recommend “Gaststätte Zum Ast” is your destination 🤗 Price performance more than fair. Finally, a big compliment to our waiter. Despite the lack of staff, he still gave us a table. And despite the stress, always friendly and helpful. Very very large portions when eating, but tastes like mother's

We had been in the area for a long time and had a look. We weren't disappointed, just as tasty as before and even the branch boulette and the branch schnitzel 😁👍simply a classic. We also ordered a warm/cold buffet - there was really nothing to complain about - all the extras were taken into account and all of our guests praised the food. You can't want more. We will definitely come back and order again.

Was there on the weekend. I'm always impressed by the nice people there, the cuisine is nothing extraordinary, but still very good home cooking. For 4 people with drinks 85 euros very inexpensive given the portions. I like being there, unfortunately far too rarely. With these nice conditions, every other restaurant can learn a thing or two. There is no overreaching, there is always someone there if something is needed, even if the house is full, always a smile, always friendly, worth every penny of tip. The dishes taste really good! Recommended! The schnitzel is a good size and the side dishes were well seasoned. The salad was delicious! The ambience is kept simple, which gives the restaurant a certain charm. Only the tree trunk in front of the restaurant could be removed. You can't see him. :( Bye bye oil pan.
