The food is plentiful. But the fried potatoes are lukewarm, the fries are weak and too salty. The ragout was also better and more.

It used to be better, but the food still tastes good.

I was traveling from Karlsbad via Leipzig via Munich and friends from Markranstädt recommended that I stop here to satisfy my hunger. I had the schnitzel plate. My goodness, are you crazy!? The thing was huge. Plus the cauliflower. 😄 I feel the need to be able to enjoy you again as quickly as possible.

Absolute tip for people who are very hungry. There is nothing wrong with the food and given the quantity, the price/performance is unbeatable. Very nice and friendly staff. You have to make minimal compromises with the rooms, but that doesn't help. We really enjoy being here.

We recently celebrated our wedding in the hall. It was just great. The employees were super friendly and always asked us before they did anything. The food was again incredibly tasty. 🤤 I would always celebrate my wedding there or another big party. We and our guests felt really comfortable. Thank you very much for everything, dear Ast team

The staff is great, the boss is super friendly when he comes out of the kitchen. The food is delicious and I'm there often. Personally, I don't like the atmosphere that much, but if you like it rustic, you'll like it there. Personnel are always needed, if someone is looking for a pleasant part-time job with a really friendly team and a good boss, then you've come to the right place.

We had a celebration and ordered a buffet for dinner, unfortunately that wasn't the delivery, we should have ordered Allachart instead. Things were better a few years ago.

Anyone who likes rustic, hearty cuisine in sizeable portions will quickly be satisfied here. Very nice service in a cozy garden restaurant atmosphere rounds off the picture. Recommended!

Were there for the first time and immediately loved it. An inconspicuous garden pub that offers everything a guest could want. The young lady from the service was also super nice and absolutely accommodating. The food was great and the price was absolutely reasonable for the portions. Anyone who goes home hungry has done something wrong.

If you like big schnitzels, “Zum Ast” is something special. Despite the huge portions, the quality of the food is very good. It's fun to eat home-style here.

We ate here about 15 years ago and were pleasantly surprised that the dishes are still so big and tasty. Whatever you can't manage is often packed up to take with you. Super young team but incredibly friendly and accommodating. A small problem is that the toilets are very small and difficult for older people to use.

Very friendly and funny service. Food was very quick and plentiful. We would love to come back to the beer garden. Unfortunately payment with Visa is not possible.

We went spontaneously after visiting a zoo (without reservation) there. Since they don't open again until around 5 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, we were probably lucky to get a table around 5:30 p.m. I chose this restaurant based on Google images of the food 😅 At first glance from the outside you think it's a sports bar. Inside it is also kept quite simple. There is also an outdoor area. Once you have wiped away the first impression, you will receive very nice and friendly service😀 Food was, there is no other way to put it, amazing😄 I had already seen the cauliflower in pictures, but when we were on the way to our table, the cauliflower at the next table literally jumped out at us, it was so big. Covered with an even more gigantic schnitzel😅 The schnitzel with tomato & mozzarella, however, was a normal portion. My meatball (meatball/beefsteak) was also huge, absolutely impossible to manage with fried potatoes and 4 fried eggs, at least for me! But everything was super delicious and the Google images I looked for are absolutely true 🥰 So if you complain in most restaurants that the portions are too small, I can only recommend “Gaststätte Zum Ast” is your destination 🤗 Price performance more than fair. Finally, a big compliment to our waiter. Despite the lack of staff, he still gave us a table. And despite the stress, always friendly and helpful. Greetings to the kitchen team "keep it up" your food is absolutely delicious. Haven't eaten so well in a long time. ❤❤❤🤗 THANKS

Very very large portions when eating, but tastes like mother's

We had been in the area for a long time and had a look. We weren't disappointed, just as tasty as before and even the branch boulette and the branch schnitzel 😁👍simply a classic. We also ordered a warm/cold buffet - there was really nothing to complain about - all the extras were taken into account and all of our guests praised the food. You can't want more. We will definitely come back and order again.

Today we had dinner here with our swingers and sauna club and it was fantastic. It was super tasty, spot cheap compared to our drink prices and we were even able to gain a new club member. Welcome dear S. Really great shop. Our next general meeting will definitely be here again. Best regards

Was there on the weekend. I'm always impressed by the nice people there, the cuisine is nothing extraordinary, but still very good home cooking. For 4 people with drinks 85 euros very inexpensive given the portions. I like being there, unfortunately far too rarely. With these nice conditions, every other restaurant can learn a thing or two. There is no overreaching, there is always someone there if something is needed, even if the house is full, always a smile, always friendly, worth every penny of tip. Went to the restaurant for a family dinner on Sunday, what can I say it was a lovely evening. Our bellies were “FAT” We had to have a lot of things packed up because it was very plentiful and delicious!!! 🙏🏻👌🏻We would love to come back.

The dishes taste really good! Recommended! The schnitzel is a good size and the side dishes were well seasoned. The salad was delicious! The ambience is kept simple, which gives the restaurant a certain charm. Only the tree trunk in front of the restaurant could be removed. You can't see him. :( Bye bye oil pan. Otherwise, really a nice, cozy location! The service is very friendly and the food comes quickly! I'd be happy to come back.

On Sunday we were here again for a long time in this nice restaurant (pre-booked, of course). As always, there was delicious, down-to-earth food. Even though we come from near Grimma, the journey is definitely worth it. Thanks. We'd love to come back!

Richtig gute Hausmann's Kost . Schnitzel mit Pilzen und Kroketten , sehr lecker , knusprig und gute Portion zum satt werden.

Leckeres deutsches Essen in urigem Ambiente. Mahlzeiten sind üppig und reichen teilweise noch für den nächsten Tag. Immer wieder zu empfehlen wenn man absoluter Fleischesser ist.

Das Essen ist einfach nur gigantisch, und das nicht "nur" vom Geschmack her. Es ist immer wieder amüsant, Gäste zu beobachten, die das erste Mal ein Astschnitzel bekommen. Das Personal war wie immer sehr nett. Wir gehen immer wieder gern im Ast essen.

Essen war sehr lecker und preislich i.O. , Service war in Ordnung, aber kam nicht so oft um Getränkebestellungen aufzunehmen, waren aber auch nur zu 2. für mehrere Weihnachtsfeiern. Ambiente ist in die Jahre gekommen, könnte mal modernisiert werden. Toiletten sind in einem sehr alten Zustand.

Seit vier Jahren das erstemal wieder dort gewesen, viele sagen es sei nicht mehr so gut wie früher, ich muss sagen, wir waren Weihnachten dort essen, Bedienung schnell, Essen sehr heiss und auch lecker gemacht. Ich freue mich, nicht auf andere gehört zu haben und mir selbst ein Bild gemacht zu haben. Portionsgröße wie immer riesig. Es war lecker gemacht, das war Handwerk dahinter und nicht nur mal schnell was aufgewärmt.Ein Stern für das Ambiente fehlt in meiner Bewertung, aber dies wäre sonst unfair anderen Gastronomen gegenüber.

Essen verdammt lecker, verdammt viel....kleine Karte, aber für alle etwas dabei. Preise völlig in Ordnung. Service super und natürlich kann man die Reste mitnehmen.

Über geschmack lässt sich ja streiten, von daher war es für mich lecker. ABER auch mal ein wort zum Service bzw. zur Bedienung, denn diese ist hier wirklich Topp. Freundlich, humorvoll und nicht zu aufdringlich aufmerksam....könnten andere Lokalitäten eine scheibe von abschneiden.

Leider konnte das Essen ( Rostbrätl mit Bratkartoffeln ) nicht so überzeugen. Die Portionen waren zu groß, und deshalb wohl teuer. Es war jedoch möglich, die Reste mitzunehmen. Vielleicht sollte die Größe und der Preis der Portionen dem Bedarf angepasst werden können. Die Bratkartoffeln waren frittiert,ich denke, sie sollten in einer Gaststätte frisch gemacht sein. Hinweis an Brillenträger, bitte bringt diese mit, da die Schrift in der Speisekarte doch recht klein ist.

Das Essen ist Phantastisch. Was zuviel ist kann man mitnehmen. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und das Essen ist super fix auf dem Tisch. Bitte vorher anrufen ob ein Tisch frei ist. Wir hatten Glück als wir spontan dort waren. Aber um nicht enttäuscht zu werden Reserviert bitte. Es lohnt sich dort zu Essen.

Der "Ast" ist nicht umsonst eine überregionale Legende, und "groß wie ein Astschnitzel" hat sich im Laufe der Jahre geradezu als Redewendung etabliert. Ich hatte das Vergnügen, diesem Lokal mal wieder einen Besuch abzustatten und war nicht enttäuscht - das Wildgulasch mit Waldpilzen war hervorragend. Nur die recht hohen Preise haben mich etwas überrascht; sie sind aber angesichts der Portionsgröße durchaus berechtigt. Entgegen der Info auf der Webseite kann man übrigens auch mit Karte zahlen. Für mich ist das ein zunehmend wichtiges Bewertungskriterium. Noch kurz zum Ambiente: Es ist ein Gartenlokal mit traditioneller deutscher Küche, und genau das spiegelt sich auch in der Einrichtung wider. Sehr passend und liebevoll gestaltet. Komme gerne wieder!

Der Ast … ein Kult der überlebt und immer lebt . Der Service spitze … tolle Speisen … und meine Jugendherausforderung - das Astschnitzel - kann nun mit meinem fülligen Bauch und großen Hunger geschafft werden ! Weiter so … euer Fan :) Micha

Dort bekommt man für sein Geld ne Menge ..... zu viel, wie wir alle feststellen mussten....konnten am nächsten Tag nochmal alle satt werden 😁

Das Essen ist eine Wucht👍 , Preis Leistung stimmen hier, der Chef ist sehr freundlich und Wasser gab es für unsere Fellnase auch🍀wir empfehlen diese kleine Gaststätte auf jeden Fall. Leider ist sie nicht 7 Tage geöffnet , weil Personal fehlt. Also wer Interesse hat , meldet sich beim Chef 👍
