Best kebab in Herne. A bit crowded, but very good.

Meister Döner is truly well-known and often receives positive reviews. I can't share that opinion at all; I would even strongly advise against going there. There's hardly anything to say about the ambiance (street and car wash), but it's worth mentioning the teenagers who often gather in large groups in front of the vending machine in the evenings. The constant queues are simply due to its popularity; I don't see them as a criticism, even if you sometimes have to wait an incredibly long time. The food tastes good, too—not the best kebab in Herne, but definitely pretty high in terms of taste. BUT: What's really bad is that we've eaten there three times over the years (twice deliberately brought it, the last time unwittingly) and each time we've had stomach problems and sometimes even severe diarrhea. Given all the positive reviews, it's certainly strange, but we had it every time with the entire team with different types of meat, so it wasn't a coincidence, which is why I highly recommend everyone to stay away. The positive reviews don't necessarily mean anything, though, since you can do so much with competitions and the like these days. I don't mean to imply anything, but you can see that Haus des Döner (a kebab house) can still rank well on Google despite blatant hygiene deficiencies. This is a similar case for us, or due to excessive customer traffic, the meat is often undercooked.

I don't understand why a place like Meister Döner doesn't understand how to properly top a kebab. Every time, you end up with nothing but meat, and way too much of it. Also, please start smearing the sauces on the bread instead of smearing them on. The quality of the kebab is still terrible.

The kebab itself was okay, but very oily and greasy. A few hours later, I had a stomach ache and a long night.

I only got cartilage instead of meat, the service was very unfriendly, and the kebab was full of oil. In the end, there was 500ml of oil on my dining table. I had a stomach ache for the next 10 hours and later had to struggle to get to the bathroom. NEVER RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!!!

By far the worst kebab in all of North Rhine-Westphalia. 80% cartilage, 20% meat. Guaranteed stomach aches. People say it's juicy, but it's just disgusting fat from the meat that's been sitting on that warm plate for an hour.

Absolute disappointment! The kebab was simply inedible – full of gristle, dripping with fat, and dripping with oil. The outside seating is dirty and unkempt; you hardly want to stay there. The staff seem disinterested and barely bothered. Honestly, I can't understand all the positive reviews at all. One thing's for sure: I'm never going back here!

I ordered a kebab there yesterday and was treated terribly badly. I was completely ignored because I was told to order separately. The kebab didn't taste good because the wrong one tasted like cartilage. I was always happy with it, but over time the quality and service have deteriorated. I can't recommend it anymore.

Got food poisoning! Didn’t even eat all of it and throw it to trash and after a while got food poisoning. Dont get fooled by the good review rating. Such a disaster I dont even know ehat meat I ate! Hope it gets shot down

The meat (veal/turkey) contains pieces of fat or cartilage. It's okay if you want to stretch the meat with such a mixture to save money, but then you should at least do it properly. We had three identical doner kebabs (veal/turkey, yogurt, hot sauce, and everything). All three were topped in a different order. To ensure the taste remains consistent across all products, perhaps you should consistently spread the sauce on the bread (as it should be) and not just randomly slap it on the salad. Ultimately, you do the same things every time, so maybe keep a fixed order instead of just slicing the doner together without any care. It didn't satisfy my craving for a great doner at all. It has potential, but if you don't appreciate doner culture, maybe you shouldn't prepare it. Especially if you want to appear modern and contemporary with the payment system and the interior look.

Had a lot of cartilage/hard pieces in the meat

I ate there with my family almost every weekend, it was one of the best for us, unfortunately after a while it went downhill and it's getting worse and worse! The worst thing is that a friend was eating there and saw that his bread was moldy 🤒🤕 I don't know how that can happen 🤦🏽‍♀️ I thought to myself...!

Currently the best kebab in Herne/Recklinghausen. *Update 08/2024: Quality is declining. Hardly any meat in the kebab. The sauces are simply slapped on. Side dishes are cut XXL and slapped on as well. Fed up? **Update 07/2025: The city of Herne is unfortunately taking very strict action against illegal parking. Of course, the shop can't be blamed for this – but it would be desirable if they would lobby the city for more customer-friendly solutions. The current state of affairs is actually scaring away potential customers. Herne is unfortunately not known for its visitor-friendliness in this regard.

Classic doner kebab, tasty, you can make it every now and then, but nothing special and way too expensive at €10 for a regular doner kebab. I can't really taste any difference between yaprak meat and veal.

I haven't been to your place for a long time. Great that there are 3 sizes of kebab. I ordered a medium classic. Tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage - you can feel that they are fresh, not left from the previous day. Kebab in a bun is delicious!!! I highly recommend it.

The size was okay for €7, but the salad was rather small, and the spicy sauce was tasty. A walk-in, order-out, walk-out place. No seating.

This is truly a very good kebab, if not the best in North Rhine-Westphalia. Both the beef and the veal skewers are very flavorful and cooked to perfection. The bread is standard. The salad is fresh and crispy. There's a good selection of cheeses. Unfortunately, you can't sit down and enjoy the kebab in peace.

I had the 5-star kebab for €12. It's a hefty price, but worth every cent. Very good quality.

Food is good, but if your employee has a shitty problem making a kebab with cheddar cheese, then he should either look for another job without customer contact or learn how to deal with customers instead of making fun of it with his colleague. That's not how you treat customers! The new employee is correct and can deal with customers, but not the one who has been working with you for a long time. And it doesn't say anywhere that the Don Carlos kebab with veal costs an extra euro. The colleague also said I could have mayo or ketchup on the Don Carlos. Boy, what do I want with mayo or ketchup. I saw the trend on social media and then tried the large beef kebab because I was impressed by the reviews from many users. However, the kebab was sobering on site. I was absolutely disappointed with the preparation of the bread. It's completely understandable when there are a lot of customers that things have to be done quickly, but I would still have expected more of the handiness. You can see it in the picture. The mix in the bread was exactly the same as the preparation itself. The salad is fresh and good. The meat was OK.

It's ordinary, simple, and it's as if the people there are giving money for their father's benefit, not your money.

Döner is of good quality, the only thing missing is that if you want to eat there, there is no table, there is only a small place on the side where you can eat while standing.

Title: Disappointing experience at Master Döner I expected more from Meister Döner in Herne, but unfortunately I was very disappointed. The service was unfriendly and seemed totally disinterested. I waited forever for my order to be taken and when the food finally came it was anything but fresh. The kebab was dry and tasteless, the sauces were watery and had hardly any flavor. Additionally, the cleanliness of the store was questionable - tables and floors appeared not to have been cleaned in days. I really can't recommend this store. There are so many better options for a good kebab in Herne. I definitely won't be coming back!

First time, last time. Doner kebab was ok, but nothing special, little to no sauce and little meat. You can also make good money with lots of salad. The service is haywire. The gentlemen weren't particularly friendly either. Overall not recommended.

I have to say this time I'm disappointed, I just got two Dürüm and a kebab and arrived home looking forward to the meal. Unfortunately, when we got home we noticed that all the orders were cold and there was more salad than meat. I hope to get a warm meal again next time. Otherwise we like to eat there.

Service has gotten worse, fries have gotten worse, especially Dogan (employee), thinks he's Bill Gates of the kebab 😂 and invented it, is also extremely cheeky when he does something wrong and really doesn't know how to talk to customers, feels attacked with every sentence. Meister Döner at Roonstrasse 2 used to be the first address for kebab in Herne - always a real treat. But recently the business has unfortunately gone down a lot. On my last visit, the popular sambal sauce was completely bland, the beef was tasteless and had a rubbery consistency. And as if that wasn't bad enough, I also had stomach problems with severe diarrhea afterwards. Really disappointing! If it hadn't been for the stomach problems I would have said kebab would be standard 2.5-3/5 stars. I had to tell the employee three times which meat I wanted the kebab with... really annoying.

Best kebab! We've been coming for a long time and now we always come with a baby. All employees warm and friendly. We can't say anything bad. Always a 10/10 without exception.

The best kebab I have ever eaten, tbh. They are fast to serve you, even though there may be a problem in case it rains while you’re on the line. I will go back to try the vegan option with falafel, as well as 5stars kebab but with the other version of bread (for Italian speakers: piatto, piadina, panino. Fanno tutte le versioni). Also, portions are very big and it’s quite cheap.
