Medea Restaurant in Kiel

The food is great. Unfortunately there are few staff, so you should bring your time. If the restaurant is full, there is a lot of noise.

Yesterday we ordered a menu in a large group and were given various starters as a first course and then the main courses. We were asked again in advance about any intolerances. The menu was very tasty and was completely sufficient. Especially the bread (pizza), the cauliflower and the potatoes were very tasty.

Traditional Georgian cuisine is served here. Small restaurant where there is no chance of getting a table without pre-ordering. Cozy atmosphere, small selection of dishes on the menu, friendly staff. I had a small bowl of bean stew. If you are very hungry, you should definitely order either the Georgian bread or the potatoes as a side dish to fill you up. There was also a very small bowl with crispy white cabbage salad, which was marinated together with beetroot. There were sprouts as a topping The peppermint tea consisted of fresh spearmint mint poured with boiling water. There was also a small pot of brown sugar.

The food was delicious and truly special. Medea is worth the experience! The four of us had a set menu put together and were extremely full at the end and totally thrilled with the dishes. The set menu allowed us to discover many new things, which was well worth it. Including drinks and a lot of food, we paid around €40 each. Worth every cent! Parking isn't necessarily available at the restaurant, but you can park your car easily at the nearby Blücher Platz.

The last time I was there was around 5 years ago and I was totally enchanted, a special kind of taste experience. Unfortunately I have to say from my visit there yesterday that I/we didn't like it at all. The dishes, especially the meat skewers, were over-seasoned, too much coriander, too much garlic. I'm totally disenchanted and won't go there again. The prices are awesome for what you get there.

Very popular and without a reservation you have to turn around. The food was very tasty, beautifully prepared and a little different in a good sense. It's worth coming for several people and then all the food can be shared. The main courses don't come with any side dishes like rice, couscous or whatever, only what's actually on the menu, so one main course per person isn't enough. The Georgian red wine (see picture) was really, really tasty and the traditional chacha was also good!

The two of us were there in the evening during the week. We initially had a window seat, but it was quite cold there and we moved. Overall, it wasn't very well heated in the restaurant and some heaters were off. The guests at the next table were also cold and sat there in jackets. Although the restaurant was quite empty, it took around 30 minutes for our order to be taken. The food and drinks came quickly and everything was very well prepared. But the portions were very small in relation to the price. The staff could have pointed out that the portions are small and more like tapas. The payment was only made upon request. In my opinion, the service was lousy and the price-performance ratio was underground. Overall the restaurant was very clean. The restaurant does not have parking spaces and you have to look for one in the residential area. This imbalance can lead to long walks and should be taken into account by less mobile people. The entrance to the restaurant is reached via a step, but there is also a ramp on the stairs. The restaurant is otherwise barrier-free.

First of all, you can say that the food is very tasty. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio is not right. The portions are very small, but the price is very high. In addition, the service was very bad. It took a good half an hour before we could even order our drinks, even though there were very few guests in the restaurant. Nothing further was explained to us about the menu, for example what the dishes meant or that you should order a few "small dishes" to share or something similar (like in a real tapas bar), which was a shame. Over time the place became a bit more crowded, which meant the acoustics suffered a lot and it was very loud. It was also relatively cold. At the beginning we had a window seat, it was hard to stand here as it was very cold, which made us move around. As we observed, many other guests felt the same way. Overall, the food was very tasty, but the surroundings are simply not right for these prices, which means I wouldn't recommend the restaurant.

The hammer! We had eight Georgian dishes put together with four people to get to know each other... everyone was very enthusiastic.

Very nice staff, food delicious, but very little for these prices! For a slightly larger Civappcici with little around it, almost 17 euros is quite a deal!

There were four of us here and we spontaneously made a reservation for 5 p.m. We were told on the phone that we could only have the table until 6:30 p.m. We agreed to that. We ordered the “ship bread” with the egg on top, two chicken dishes, two skewers each of beef and chicken, beetroot salad, falafel and bread with garlic dip. Unfortunately we didn't find the price/performance ratio right, e.g. beetroot salad for around €8. It was just some beetroot with lots of coriander. The portions are extremely small and the coriander content is extremely high. Unfortunately, some dishes were even inedible because there was so much coriander. The service was very nice. Unfortunately, due to the time, we were no longer allowed to order dessert. The decor was nice but the space is quite small and once all the tables were occupied the noise was very loud.

It was our first time at Medea as the restaurant had been recommended to us many times. The food was really great. If you don't like coriander, you should definitely let us know. But we were also asked. As time went on, the restaurant became more and more crowded and the volume naturally increased. So over time it became a bit busy and no longer really a relaxed atmosphere. Nevertheless, I can also recommend Medea, especially because it is a “different” cuisine. So if you don't want to go to the Italian restaurant for the 100th time and are open to new things, you'll definitely be in good hands at Medea.

The food in the Medea Gorgish Restaurant was super delicious. The staff were really friendly and attentive, and the place is really cozy. It's a little more expensive, but the quality is definitely worth it. I can only recommend it and would be happy to come back.

The number one restaurant in Kiel with everything!

Food was tasty, but small portions for a high price. Waiter nice, but not often at the table. Unfortunately we couldn't eat at the same time, the dishes arrived about 5-10 minutes later. Overall it was okay.

Very tasty food :) When ordering, keep in mind that side dishes have to be ordered separately. Otherwise you really only get what is written there! It's also relatively narrow, not too narrow, but if you don't like crowded restaurants you should probably make a reservation and ask when it's usually not so busy haha.

If you're hungry you shouldn't go here, the portions are far too small and there are no side dishes. Unfortunately very disappointing. The taste is really great, but if the value for money isn't right and you leave hungry, that's unfortunately of no use.

We had a menu put together. The starters were elaborately draped, but didn't blow us away in terms of taste. Of course, this can be personal and individual. The main course included: Minced skewers, which I found too flimsy. I even presented Georgian wine more spectacularly for an area (Caucasus) where viticulture was invented. The service tried hard, but didn't show up at our table for a long time. But everything was fine, we tried it. It was fully booked. 🙋🏼

The Medea in Kiel always inspires me! I've been there a few times and the food has impressed me every time. The Georgian dishes are incredibly tasty and have that certain something - the taste is really first class. I particularly love the tapas-style concept, where you can share the dishes at the table. This means you can try out the various delicacies, which is always a highlight. The service is also worth mentioning and deserves high praise. Even when the restaurant is really full, the team remains incredibly friendly and quick. Everything is served with a smile and I just feel completely at home there. You can tell that hospitality is very important here. Yes, it can get crowded and you'll be a little crowded together, but that's exactly what gives the restaurant its special charm. The ambience is cozy and rounds off the experience perfectly. In terms of price, the Medea is on the higher end, but it is worth every cent. You really get something special here! I can recommend Medea to anyone who appreciates excellent service and enjoys exceptionally good food. I will definitely come back!

This restaurant really offers a great taste experience, which I found so amazing that I can't help but leave a great review - even though I almost never write reviews. Only the price is perhaps a bit high given the portion sizes, at €35-40 per person. is to be expected - but it's worth it!

The portions are “clear”, so you should order at least 2 dishes. The shrimps were very spicy, although this is not noted on the menu. Other dishes were also more “spicy” seasoned, so they were suitable for me. Friendly, nice service. Price wise.

Don't make the mistake of ordering for yourself, but be brave and try something new! 2-3 different dishes per person and you can try something new. For the main course we had the exotically spiced chicken breast and a lamb stew with tarragon and white wine. Incredibly delicious. We also really enjoyed the Georgian dessert. On recommendation, for the first time, we reserved a table for two people before going to the theater. We decided on various dishes... among others. beetroot salad, falafel with yoghurt mint dip, bread with aioli dip, pastured beef skewer, rose mushrooms in herbs, dill jacket potatoes. In summary, I can't decide which dish was the highlight...every dish prepared in its own right was terrific. Nicely presented, tastefully prepared. Staff very friendly and attentive. We will definitely come back and I'm already looking forward to it. Everyone should be able to enjoy the delicacies from Georgia there.

Stay one night in Kiel after your vacation. Landed here spontaneously. What a discovery! No wonder that both the garden and the restaurant were full: the food is great - and we "only" had salad and lamb skewer. The plum sauce is an awakening experience. It's not a big deal that our first drink was forgotten and arrived too late. Thank you very much! (Unfortunately, photos of the food were forgotten due to hunger and enthusiasm.)

So the food was phenomenal and it was very interesting to get to know the cuisine. We would actually come back, but only if it wasn't full. We arrived before 7 p.m. and waited almost 60 minutes for our first drink and even longer for the food (almost 80 minutes until the first dishes arrived). When asked, an apology and a bowl of bread were offered. Afterwards this was added to the bill, which was a real shame given the waiting time. The last dishes came at 9 p.m. and our last beers didn't come at all. I would have liked to give it 5 stars, but the service and food were too different.

The meal for €15 - 2 lettuce leaves rolled in oil and a mini skewer coated with minced meat. No other side dish like bread, rice or potatoes. We walked out of the store hungry. The portions were simply ridiculous, which was also confirmed by guests at the next table! One failure and never again. We only got full in another restaurant. 🤔🤔🤔

The foods tasted good, especially the lamb and beef. But what confuses me is that why these two dishes are so small portions and served without staple food, even no a piece of bread with it. So we have to order the bread, whose sauce was really nice, the chili oil did hit my tongue. Another point I really don’t understand is that why we were taking to a table in the corner of restaurant in the beginning , though at that time there was only one table with guests. In total, I think the portion of food should be bigger and with some staple food. Of course, maybe you are trying to be “exquisite ”.

Absolutamente maravilloso. Mis papilas gustativas fueron muy felices durante toda esta comida. Nunca había probado comida georgiana antes, pero este restaurante es un guardián. ¡Volveré! Mi amigo y yo compartimos el entrante de berenjena y fue divino. Luego tomé un plato de pollo, papa y pimienta y estaba delicioso de nuevo. Diferente pero excelente. A wonderful restaurant, worth all 5 stars: an attentive and patient service explaining the Georgian dishes, which we all enjoyed at the table (6 people). Wonderful herbs that created a completely different flavor explosion in every dish. A week ago we were guests for the first time in this restaurant, which welcomes and welcomes its guests with outstanding friendliness! Very friendly service, incredibly tasty food and a large selection, even if you don't want to choose meat dishes. A bit expensive? Yes, but also very good! And to be honest, despite the VAT having increased again, we were not dissatisfied when we received what we considered to be a very good value for money bill. Sooo extremely happy with how we left the restaurant, it was worth every penny. Thank you for a wonderful evening 🫠

The food is excellent. The tapas-style dishes are good for sharing and there is a good selection of vegetarian options.

We were there during the week. The restaurant was busy, but the food still came quickly. The taste was really delicious and balanced. We just can't understand the good reviews given the prices. We paid €15 for a small skewer of meat with a few vegetables. For almost €40, the two of us didn't even come close to being full. We saved the dessert for almost €10. In terms of price-performance ratio, this is the most expensive restaurant I have visited in Kiel.

Herbivores and carnivores get their money's worth, good advice from the waiters, reasonable prices for good quality. We'll definitely be back. Updated: even after the 5th visit (or 7th?) we are still satisfied and would like to come back.

The worst service I've ever seen, the kebab was so salty that even water didn't help. I even went to the cook and told him that it's not salty. I had reserved the table a week ago, and when we arrived at the empty hall, guess where they were going to place it??)))) at the entrance🤣. In my opinion, it's not a Georgian restaurant at all, it's just the name. It was my first and last visit there. It's better to learn how to treat and respect customers. Having read the reviews, he risked and visited. I am a Georgian and thought it would be our way, but alas, the food was very salty. When I asked the chef what it was, he answered that it was not salty (it seemed to you that there were 4 of us).

We've been to Medea several times before, but this time the taste was mostly garlic and everything was mostly salty. The aioli was so salty that we didn't eat it. The Georgian red wine was very good, but cost 9.60 euros per glass. We're taking a Medea break now.

When you arrive there after reserving a table, you are greeted with the message “You have 1 hour and 50 minutes.” The ambience is simple and the picture of the Elbphilharmonie smiles at you and normal bar music plays. That's not typical Georgian style. The mixed appetizer platter arrives quickly, with the instruction to eat the warm one first. Good tip! But the warm main courses also arrive almost at the same time. Why? Quote: "That's what the kitchen does." The puri bread we ordered turns out to be normal baguette bread from the neighboring bakery. Why? "You can't get all the ingredients that are available in Georgia." Conclusion: For connoisseurs of Georgia and its cuisine, it is disappointing! The food is clearly too expensive!

The food in “Medea” was delicious and nicely prepared. This is probably the most important thing. The ordered food was served after a few minutes. The service on site was friendly and helpful. When it comes to reservations, the restaurant seems rather inhospitable and hesitant (and I have observed this several times). You don't feel like you're happy. It's often back and forth and complicated. About the ambience: I find the carelessly laminated menu terrible and lacking in style. The font size is also extremely small. That's what really bothered me: this loveless menu that doesn't do justice to the supposed image of the restaurant in any way. I would like an appropriate map (layout). The eye eats too... and if I'm already annoyed by this piece of laminated paper with what feels like a font size of 6 when I'm choosing the food... How is that supposed to make me want to eat?! The restaurant was very drafty and cool (room temperature). Conclusion: The quality of the food is right. But the surrounding area needs improvement.

It is one of my favourite restaurants in Kiel! Very clean kitchen, personal and they work fast and good. Hygiene is on highest level. (Maybe they could work more on the bathrooms) The food is, as always delicious! They make everything there, nothing frozen or bought, everything is prepared, cut, cooked by the kitchen stuff. One girl at the service was rude, and she took my chicken salad away, without even asking, whether I have finished. I have her no tips. The chocolate cake with ice cream on top was terrible, hard, like a gum. I would come back definitely, because of the delicious food.

Das georgische Restaurant war eine wahre gastronomische Entdeckung! Die Speisekarte bot eine faszinierende Vielfalt an Gerichten aus Georgien, die von pikant bis mild reichten. Die Geschmacksexplosionen der georgischen Küche haben uns positiv überrascht und neue Aromen offenbart. Die Reise durch die unterschiedlichen georgischen Gerichte war definitiv lohnenswert. Die Kombination aus Gewürzen, frischen Zutaten und der einzigartigen Zubereitung machte den Besuch zu einem kulinarischen Erlebnis. Die herzliche Gastfreundschaft und das Ambiente trugen ebenfalls zu einem angenehmen Aufenthalt bei. Ich empfehle dieses Restaurant jedem, der eine Vorliebe für die vielfältigen und köstlichen Speisen aus Georgien hat!

Das Essen war ein Geschmackserlebnis, etwas anderes, etwas besonderes. Die Gewürze, der Duft wenn man das Restaurant betritt. Preis-Leistung völlig in Ordnung für das was man bekommt. Ich finde es sehr gut, dass due einzelnen Gerichte klein sind, so ist die Möglichkeit gegeben, auch andere Gerichte zu probieren....

Wir haben hier zu sechst das erste Mal georgisch gegessen. Dabei haben wir gefühlt die halbe Karte bestellt und waren von fast allen Speisen sehr begeistert. Geschmacklich ist eine weite Bandbreite geboten und jeder wird etwas für sich finden. Positiv hervorzuheben ist, dass zu Beginn vom Service gefragt wurde, ob Unverträglichkeiten und Allergien bestehen und ob Koriander ok wäre. 1 Stern Abzug beim Ambiente gibt es für die allgemeine Lautstärke (wenn alle Tische voll besetzt sind). Reservierung empfohlen! Wir werden definitiv wiederkommen.

Die georgische Tapas Auswahl ist hervorragend. Gerade für eine größere Gruppe sehr zu empfehlen.

Tolles Restaurant mit großartiger Küche. Die negativen Reviews bezüglich Preise, kann ich absolut nicht nachvollziehen, finde die Kosten absolut angemessen. Die Speisen sind sehr Knoblauchlastig, was man vorher unbedingt wissen muss, schmecken allerdings hervorragend. Komme auf jeden Fall wieder

Nach den Berichten in der lokalen Presse hatten wir deutlich besseres erwartet. Nachdem wir, trotz bestätigter Reservierung, erst nach längerer Diskussion an unseren Platz gebracht wurden, passierte erst einmal lange Zeit nichts. Neben uns waren noch mehrere andere Gäste etwas verloren, da wir weder Speisekarten bekamen, noch sonst wie mit Aufmerksamkeit bedacht wurden. Die Speisen selbst waren leider nichts besonderes: der Kebab- und der Geflügelspieß war für den verlangten Preis recht klein. Der Taboule-Salat schien direkt aus der Kühlung gekommen zu sein, so kalt war dieser. Der Salat selbst war recht geschmacklos und die übrigen Speisen fast nur Koriander- und Petersilien-lastig. Was daran so toll oder geschmackvoll sein sollte, erschloss sich uns nicht. Wir empfanden die Qualität als durchschnittlich und die Menge des Essens als deutlich zu teuer.

Sehr schönes Ambiente, sehr guter Service, sehr gutes Essen, perfekt gewürzt. Man erlebt dort ein sehr familiäres Ambiente, gutes Preis und Leistungsverhältnis. Man fühlt sich nicht in einer Kneipe, sondern als wäre man eingeladen. Absolute Wiederholungsgefahr. :-)))

Wir waren tatsächlich etwas desillusioniert, da wir uns sowohl Preis -Leistungstechnisch als auch vom Service etwas mehr erwartet hatten. Auch dachten wir, dass ein gemischter Vorspeisenteller etwas von allen Vorspeisen beinhaltet und nicht nur von einem Teil. Dafür gab es, um den Platz aufzufüllen möglicherweise, sehr viel Blattsalat. Es ist insgesamt lecker aber wird wahrscheinlich nicht unser Lieblingsladen

Går turen til Kiel, må du unde dig selv et besøg på Medea. Det er en absolut fantastisk smagsoplevelse med masser af hvidløg og koriander. Vi var fortabte, da vi læste menukortet, men kun fordi vi ikke er stødt på georgiske madretter før, og fordi vores tyske nok heller ikke er i top. Men heldigvis fik vi rigtig god hjælp af en yderst venlig og engageret tjener, som talte fint engelsk, og var helt med på, at det var vores første møde med mad fra Georgien. Det er helt sikkert ikke sidste gang, vi har spist på en restaurant, der serverer georgiske retter. WAUW - prøv det!

Wir waren jetzt schon des öfteren hier und es war immer sehr lecker. Dieses mal waren wir mit 8 Personen hier und faßt jeder hatte etwas anderes bestellt, da die Portionen ja eher Tapas größe haben hat jeder von jedem mal probiert und ich muß sagen es hat alles fantastisch geschmeckt!!! Besonders muß ich allerdings die argentinieschen Rotgarnelen und das australiesche Weiderind hervorheben die Gerichte schmecken wirklich einzigartig und ist eine Geschmacks explosion und Gaumenfreude. Für nicht so kundige der Georgischen Küche steht euch das fachkundige Personal gern zur Verfügung und erklärt euch alles...., seid nicht so schüchtern fragt einfach nach. Für uns war es mal wieder ein rundum schöner Abend. Danke dem Medea Personal!!

Nach Jahren wieder im Medea. Das Restaurant schwebt auf einer Welle des Erfolgs und das merkt man auch. Einen Tisch zu bekommen ist schwer, hat man einen ergattert so teilt man das Restaurant mit vielen, vielen anderen. Es ist laut, hektisch, nerviger Jazz tönt über uns aus den Lautsprechern. Ein gemütliches Essen zu zweit sieht anders aus. Ich gönne den Erfolg, das Essen ist Klasse und die Preise sind okay. Der Service nicht immer präsent aber macht die Sache gut. Fazit: Wenn man selbst in einer großen, lauten Gruppe kommt mag es ein schöner Abend werden, isst man zu zweit und hofft auf Gemütlichkeit ist man falsch. Daher nur eine eingeschränkte Empfehlung.

Ein sehr schönes Ambiente, aufmerksames Personal und die Speisen ein Gedicht. Die Gerüche der Gewürze waren das Tüpfelchen auf dem i. Es werden alle Sinne angesprochen. Definitiv ein Besuch wert.
