Wonderful restaurant and kind hosts. The vegetarian food was authentic and tasty . Kids had great time with the cutie dog. Will definitely be back.

I go there with my mother once a year. The quality has been consistently very good since the Indian restaurant was founded and the location was taken over from the previous "Zum Knorrigen". The same applies to the service - the owner is always friendly and with a smile on his face. Regarding the dog mentioned in other comments, I can add that it is a nice and calm animal that is rather lazy and not pushy. If you like lamb and spicy, I can recommend the “Lamm Vindaloo”. I only knew "Vindaloo" from a TV documentary about India, but I had to try it here years ago and wasn't disappointed. 5/5

Its one is those places where you feel you are unwanted. Me and my daughter on our way from Germany to Amsterdam came to this place for our dinner, after booking on their site online. We were seated on a table which wasn't cleaned after previous customer had left. We kept waiting for 15-20 mins, no one came to us asking for any drinks, food or order. The waitress, she was laughing and joking with the customers on table next to us for almost 5-7 mins, then went inside the kitchen and didn't show up. She just ignored me and my small daughter as we didn't exist. This was between 7:30-8 pm in the evening of 17th Aug 24 and my daughter was really hungry as we had been on road driving to Amsterdam from Austria. After 20 mins of no service, we decided to leave. She could have told 'no' to us directly instead of ignoring, and indirectly forcing us to leave. This experience left us feeling invisible and unwelcome.

It's all not very Indian. Service with Eastern European charm, indefinable furnishings and Thousand Island salad dressing from the bottle. There is always a drooling dog sitting in between. You have to like it.

We ate very well here. The food tastes very fresh, or the Indian drinks are very tasty. Very clear recommendation.

The food is really delicious, there's no doubt about it! The portions were also filling. But:(!) The female “service” employee was so incredibly rude and unfriendly that I find it really difficult to put this experience into words. After we paid, I asked for a printed invoice and had to let this woman insult me ​​in front of all the other guests because of this request (?!?!). Too bad for the cook!

I was there with my Indian friend and when the owner saw that he supposedly came from India, she started asking why they were so intellectual and ordered so little food. In addition, a very large dog runs around the area all the time and comes to the table. Eat??? Not recommended. Creamy butter chicken simply tasted like cream.

I am very disappointed by the expierence I had in this restaurant. There is only 1 old waitress working there, who doesnt just lack the skills, but is also very very disrespectful and rude. This is not the first time we have been here, but I have observed that the behaviour doesnt change. We are a big family and hence, spend over 100€. We would appreciate to be treated with some respect and friendliness. She refuses to clean our table upon requesting, and talks as though, we are eating there for free. It is embarassing. Although the owner, who is also the chef, is very kind, the serbian waitress ruins the entire expierence. We are not coming back here. Its really sad.

Update 2024: The food is still great. After a longer stay abroad in the UK, where we learned to appreciate Indian cuisine, it took us quite a while to find a comparable Indian restaurant. You can really get authentic Indian food at Mayuri. Just wonderful. Over the months we have tried different dishes. Everything was extremely tasty and reminded us of our time in Nottingham at Singh's or Desi Down Town. Superb!

Inconspicuous from the outside, but the food speaks for itself, always delicious here from now on. The lady who served us was very personable and accommodating. My recommendation Chicken Mango is not on the menu but is prepared upon request, and the butter chicken is simply a culinary delight.

"The Dog will roam around free, if you dont like please dont come here again" - Even in my wildest dream I cant imagine that a restaurant can mean this to its guests. We have visted the restaurant during our one night stay in Duisberg. It was my Mother in Law's birthday. So we wanted to make it special. The food was good, a little oily though, but I dont have any complain about the quality. But we have NEVER FACED SUCH A RUDE BEHAVIOUR EVER FROM ANY RSTAURANT.. 1. I am personally very scared of dogs, so very gently I said "Hund" - thats all, and then this lady started to misbehave with us stating that the Dog does not bite or so. She was so rude that she asked us not to come here again. I could not even imagine it from a restaurant owner even in my wildest dream. It was not like I did anything bad even to the Dog. I personally have extreme problem with Dog and I just said "Hund" - meaning or rather requesting her to take care of the dog. 2. At the begining when we entered the I asked if she speaks English. My German is not very good, just that I can somehow manage. Later the lady kept on accusing - why I said at the begining that I dont speak German. I could not just believe what she meant. It seemed that I made a crime by asking if she speaks English 3. At the beginning my 8 year old son was given a child plate. At which I requested her to give a big plate just like adults. To this she told me at face that she wont give as the child might break the plate. - Seriously? - I respect her decision to give initially, but when I have asked for, she just bluntly told me that she wont give. - Amazing We, Indians believe in the principle of "Atithi Devo Bhava" and this is how she treated her guests - just to a word that I said - "Hund" Later yesterday I saw so many other posts by other people complaining the same. This lady just destroyed our full evening. I dont even know if such kind of behaviour is at all allowed in Germany by Law.

The ambience... well... It has the charm of an early 80s pub. Christmas decorations over the counter in March are probably also a matter of taste. But there was also Ganesha on a shelf just in front of the toilets. Friendly service, which was unfortunately overwhelmed when the restaurant was full. The food was tasty, but the portion was small for my husband.

We were here for the first time today, we really enjoyed it and had a delicious meal. The lovely lady at the service is very friendly and funny, we laughed a lot together. It certainly wasn't our last time in the restaurant.

One word: Disappointed 1. Endured an excruciatingly long wait of over an hour for the food. 2. The waitress exhibited a shocking lack of basic manners and etiquette, disrespecting me with direct remarks. 3. Despite the good food, paying to be treated with such disrespect by the waitress/hostess is utterly intolerable. 4. To add to the chaos, there's a dog casually strolling around indoors, and it's baffling that this hasn't been reported to respective authorities, considering how strict the regulations are in Germany. While the place holds promise with a courteous and friendly owner/chef and authentic Indian food, these repeated negative encounters are sufficient to discourage anyone from returning. I know that I am not returning here again.

Kommt einen Eindruck, dass die Dame ist sehr unhöflich, unfreundlich, kritikunfähig gegenüber der südländliche Mitbürger. Sie macht Unterschied zwischen Stammgäste und zwischen neue Kunden die dazu kommen, wenn Sie eine eigene schlechte Eindruck(Vorurteile) zu diesem neuen Kunden bekommt, sucht einen kleinen Grund jemanden loszuwerden, weil er in ihren Augen nicht zu dieser Gesellschaft gehört (nach ihrem Weltsehen)! Aber das sehe ich definitiv nicht so. Das Essen ist sehr lecker, vielen Dank an ihren Koch! Aber der Service gefehlt mir überhaupt gar nicht 0 von 5 Sterne leider! Meine Meinung nach diese Frau ist einfach dazu nicht geeignet! (nach meinen Meinung).

Das Essen ist lecker und gut. Es dauert nicht all zu lange und die Dame des Hauses ist lustig. Die Einrichtung trifft meinen Geschmack nicht ganz, aber darauf kommt es nicht an.

An den Essen gab es wirklich Nichts auszusetzen! Mir haben die vegetarischen Speisen am besten geschmeckt. Am Ambiente könnte man durchaus noch was verbessern, aber die Wandfarbe hatte Gott sei Dank keinen Einfluss auf die Qualität des Essens :-D Es war bestimmt nicht der letzte Besuch!

Authentic Indian restaurant.. Best in Dusiburg.

Leider hat die Dame des Hauses eine sehr fragwürdige Einstellung zu Ihren Gästen. Schon 2x ( für uns auch zum letzten Mal) waren wir Zeugen von lautstarken Auseinandersetzungen. Wenn man als Gast nicht über den im Restaurant frei laufenden Hund begeistert ist, wird einem aggressives Verhalten vorgeworfen. Für Menschen mit Canophobie absolut nicht zu empfehlen.

Schade, dass die Dame des Hauses sich emotional nicht im Griff hat. Zwei Mal ( und jetzt auch zum letzten Mal ) mussten wir schon Zeuge ihres eigenwilligen Benehmen werden. Beim ersten Mal ging es um Unstimmigkeiten mit der Rechnung, beim zweiten Mal um Probleme zwischen einem Gast-Hund und dem Haushund. Dieser läuft übrigens frei im gesamten Gastraum herum. Also Achtung bei Canophobie. Wenn man anmerkt, dass man den Hund nicht unter seinem Tisch haben möchte, muss man sich erklären, ob man sich a) ekelt ( was bei ihrem Hund natürlich undenkbar ist) oder b) "nur" Angst hat. Letzteres wird mit " der tut nix, der will nur spielen" abgespeist. Alle Aktionen erfolgen in einer Lautstärke, dass das ganze Lokal, ob man will oder nicht, beteiligt ist. Ein solches Verhalten als "Gast"Wirtin den Gästen gegenüber ist nicht zu entschuldigen. Vielleicht konnte man von selbst drauf kommen: Ich kann einen Besuch NICHT empfehlen!

HUMILIATING AND INSULTING BEHAVIOR BY WAITRESS** One star is too much for this restaurant! The old lady waitress (Wife of the Chef) is very ill-mannered and have a pathetic behavior. Just to confirm my experience I read previous comments, I found behavior of this lady waitress very common! & bad mannered (mostly with Indian customers). First of all there was a Dog 🐕 wich absolutely not allowed openly in Restaurant. 2nd we have ordered some Sancks (Pakauras) they were totally too oily, fried with old oil & over fried!! 3rd we become a Table for 6 persons, that was very small as we complained about it the Lady waitress shouted & said you can leave our House (Restaurant) !!! Very bad experience 😕 So that's why i don't recommend this Restaurant

The host/waitress is a quite talkative and friendly, which sometimes, I find good. (the talkative part) They have a great, big, and lazy dog which I found interesting. The food was not the best I’ve had but it’s not bad either.

Hands down The best Indian Restaurant in Duisburg! I took my hosts there, it was their first time trying Indian food, and they loved every bit of it. We ordered the tandoori platter, chicken curry and Garlic naan. The taste was as authentic as you get in the Delhi/NCR region. The owner welcomed us with a great smile and was very hospitable. I will definitely recommend anyone looking for genuine Indian food to visit Mayuri! See you again!

One of the best butter naan I ever had in Germany. Paneer kadhai was also awesome and pretty much like the taste what we get back home. Sonntags das Buffet probiert und in die leckere indisch würzige Küche verliebt. Kleine aber feine Auswahl, auch für Vegetarier oder Fleischliebhaber, dazu ein echt netter und freundlicher Service. Wir kommen bestimmt noch öfters hier hin😄

Sicher der beste Inder in Duisburg und Umgebung! Freundliches, aufmerksames Personal. Wir waren heute zum Brunch hier, diesen gibt es jetzt jeden Sonntag. Reichlich Auswahl an vegetarischen und fleischhaltigen Gerichten. Dazu wurde uns frisches Naan serviert. Zu empfehlen ist auch der frische indische Tee mit Kardomom, Sternanis, Ingwer. Wir kommen definitiv wieder.

Wir haben uns anhand der Bewertungen für das Restaurant entschieden und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Begrüßung und Service waren herzlich und freundlich. Das Ambiente angemessen aber nicht überdurchschnittlich. Der Service wirkte in Bezug auf Getränke und Essen aus der Küche etwas durcheinander, daher hier etwas Abzug. War vielleicht auch eine Momentaufnahme. Das Essen war super lecker und die Portionen ausreichend. Knuffig war auch der Hund. Tipp: Genug Zeit einplanen und genießen ;-)

The food is really amazing. My most favourite is kadhai paneer along with Dal Makahni with some Naan bread. Ras malai and Mango lassi after your meal will make a whole some experience a delight. Chef is really amicable and crafts varied delicacies to serve your pallet. And don't forget Rex 😉, his cute little dog.

Definitely the best Indian restaurant in Duisburg and one of the best in NRW.After being disappointed with all Indian restaurants in Duisburg and in other cities of NRW,I was a bit sceptical of ordering here,but ordered on recommendation from a friend chicken tikka masala,garlic nan and rasmalai.each and every item was authentic and so tasty.especially i was surprised with the rasmalai.I rarely have had such good rasmalai even in India.

Sehr freundliche und zuvorkommendes Personal. Das Essen ist sehr lecker und typisch indisch. Wer z.B. Koriander nicht mag, sollte das bei der Bestellung sagen. Wir werden bestimmt dort noch einmal essen.
