We had such a wonderful evening at MAUI Hawasian Kitchen & Bar! From the moment we walked in, the place felt vibrant, cozy, and inviting. The restaurant blends Hawaiian and Asian cuisine in a really creative way, and the result is delicious. The food was fresh, beautifully plated, and full of flavor, you can really taste the quality ingredients. Portions were generous and perfect for sharing. The cocktails were also fantastic and clearly made with care. Pair that with the warm and friendly service, and the whole experience becomes something really special. If you’re in Munich and want a restaurant that feels a little different from the usual spots, this is definitely worth visiting.

I always enjoy going to MAUI. The atmosphere is very pleasant, the food is delicious, and the service is very friendly. So far, I've always been able to stay as long as we wanted and have never been "kicked out" after 1.5 hours (like in other restaurants).

We visited for the first time today and were absolutely captivated by the atmosphere. It's such a charming little place, and the ambiance alone makes it highly recommendable. Unfortunately, the service left much to be desired, as we had to wait an incredibly long time for everything, even though the restaurant was only half full. We certainly had to wait almost an hour for our food. The food itself was delicious, but honestly, you can get the same quality at any other restaurant for much less. While it's truly lovely here, it's also extremely expensive. It's something you can do once in a while, but it's not something you'd want to make your regular spot.

A very nice restaurant with truly delicious food. Unfortunately, the service was poor. We waited almost 30 minutes for our drinks, and then again for someone to come and take our food order. In the end, we had to ask for the bill three times before it arrived. A real shame for such a lovely restaurant.

I’m curious why there are such high notes for this place. But maybe it is more local expectation. I ordered salmon from the grill with Hawaiian flavours. Looks nice, but the taste is just Ok. Nothing wrong with it, but this is not Hawaii; it is just regular salmon (a bit overcooked, from the oven) with fried rice and sort of soya sauce. From a taste perspective, average, over-salted, no specific flavours. Just like from any German restaurant. And most crazy: parsley leaves 🤣

We usually visit Maui on Nymphenburger Straße, but after a concert at the Residenz, the Ludwigstraße location seemed like a good alternative. The food was, as always, sensational, and the service was quick and friendly despite the restaurant being very busy. We did have a few minor complaints about the ambiance, as the tables were too close together for our taste, forcing us to overhear conversations at the next table and, in particular, a guest's loud complaints about his boss.

It was perfect! Even though the restaurant was full, the acoustics made it easy to have a conversation and understand each other even at a large table without having to shout. The incredibly friendly staff offered recommendations and guided us through the unfamiliar dishes – which turned out to be incredibly delicious choices. We ordered the mixed vegetarian platter for two, which, with a dessert, proved to be the perfect portion and left nothing to be desired. We'll definitely be back!

CAUTION, there are two Maui restaurants in Munich! Our friend accidentally went to the one in Nymphenburg. But this review is about the Hawaiian-Vietnamese crossover restaurant near Odeonsplatz. I would definitely come back here! The interior design is really beautiful, with lots of artificial flowers and a bit of glitter, but it creates a lovely atmosphere. The service was very friendly, and there was nothing to complain about. The food, while good, wasn't perfect, which is why I'm deducting a point. There's a small vegetarian selection, but the menu definitely focuses on meat. Prices are, of course, quite high for this area, as you know. My companions' vegetarian gyozas tasted great, but they weren't really Hawaiian as depicted on the menu; they were more like what you'd get at an Asian restaurant. The edamame were only lightly salted. The summer rolls were also delicious Vietnamese, except I missed the cilantro. And of course, all the appetizers were very expensive, as I mentioned. I also have a few complaints about the vegetarian bowl: I was expecting a quinoa bowl with tofu (as the name suggests), but instead, there was only a tiny bit of quinoa as a topping. Then there were the other bowl ingredients, half of which weren't on the menu (including mango and radish? Okay, fine!), especially the rice. I was a bit confused and disappointed that it was mostly rice, which was also quite greasy—fried rice ("fresh and healthy," really?). As I said, that's NOT what the menu says, see photo (No. 151). So I even told the server I had the wrong dish, to which he replied, "No, that's right, all the bowls are with rice" (even No. 152 with noodles!?). Overall, in our opinion, quite a few items on the menu weren't really described as what you actually get; we sometimes expected something different (see gyozas). It still tasted great, though. Drinks! I tried the Maui beer, which tastes like a fruity craft beer, in my opinion. Then I thought, since I'm already here, I'll order the most expensive cocktail on the menu; it sounds interesting. And it was worth it! Not just one special Mai Tai, but a trilogy! You couldn't really tell from the menu, but in this case, it created a surprise! It's a fantastic idea that I've never seen in a bar before. The raspberry and lychee Mai Tais are incredibly delicious, as is the regular version. We'd love to order them in larger sizes sometime. Or even better, order several trilogies together and share them. In any case, we agreed that it's worth coming back just for this one. I should also mention my companion's delicious ginger mocktail. The dessert menu sounds incredibly tempting; unfortunately, I didn't have room for any of it this time. There was something for everyone there, too. I'm a frequent guest at Mauii in Munich's Ludwigspalais. The food is consistently good, fresh, delicately seasoned, and very easy to digest (which is also important for older women like myself). Most recently, when I went with a friend, everything was perfect again. The lunch menu, in particular, is unbeatable in terms of value for money. The service was very friendly, and the atmosphere was pleasantly relaxed. When it's warm, the best place to sit is outside, at the back of the restaurant. Reservations are recommended, as the restaurant is usually very busy outside of peak holiday season.

The food was high-quality, perfectly balanced in flavor, and clearly prepared with care. Especially in the city center, it's not easy to find a place where ambiance, service, and quality come together so harmoniously. For us, this is definitely a restaurant in Munich that we'll remember and gladly recommend.

I was actually very satisfied when I was there for lunch. They have a separate lunch menu and the food arrives quickly. There are also plenty of gluten-free options, which is rare and something I really appreciate. Unfortunately, the tables are very close together, so you feel a bit cramped. But for a lunch break at the office, that's not a problem, and it's really close by on foot. I might try it in the evening sometime.

We spent New Year's Eve 2025/26 there and it was a truly wonderful experience. It was perfectly organized, and everything went smoothly from the reservation to the final bill. The owners were personally present. The food was excellent. A pleasant and entertaining program was offered, with live music alternating with a DJ. The program was very well-suited and not too intrusive. The hosts were generous and raffled off free drinks and gifts to the guests via a wheel of fortune. Every guest also received a small gift. 🎁

The food was good, but the appetizer portions were relatively small for the price. The service was friendly, but incredibly slow. We waited ages for our cold appetizers. And we had to ask twice for the wine.

What I didn't know was that they had prepared a small dessert with a candle. I hadn't ordered that. My mom was thrilled. Loco Moco Beef Filet… you're looking for the beef! Lots and lots of rice – very little beef! It tasted great, but for €25.50 we expected something different. We waited a long time; okay, there were a lot of large tables, we understand that. However, our table was in the aisle and we didn't feel comfortable. Nevertheless, we'll come back because the quality of the food is okay.

A cozy atmosphere, slightly chic but not over the top. The menu was incredibly diverse, and everything was very flavorful and delicious. Exactly my taste, with a good selection of vegan dishes. We came here relatively spontaneously with friends. We all enjoyed it immensely. Everyone was very friendly. A perfect evening all around. The dessert was a liquid tiramisu variation that surprised me. How exciting! And no, I didn't gulp it down. 😃
