Märznhof in Penzberg

Bei einer Radltour mittags eingekehrt. Einen extrem leckeren, vielseitigen und reichhaltigen Salat mit Hähnchenbruststreifen gegessen. Der abschließende Eiskaffee war ebenfalls super. Dazu noch ein sehr netter und aufmersamer Kellner. Was will man mehr?

War zum ersten Mal auf Empfehlung im Märznhof - zum Frühstück an einem der richtig heißen Tage. So schön dekoriert wurde mir eine Butterbrezn noch nie serviert. Die Käsevariation ebenso und mit köstlichem Käse! Ein Genuss mit dieser Aussicht auf unsere Berge und Hügel. Zudem gibt es ein Kuchenbuffet, eine Auswahl an warmen Speisen. Das Restaurant toll eingerichtet und richtig nettes Personal. Die überdachte Terrasse steht grade in voller Rosen- und Lavendelblüte, also auch hier was für's Auge. Toiletten sauber, zwar im Keller, aber es gibt einen Aufzug. Parkplätze vorhanden. Ich komme wieder!

Vom Radlfahren kannte ich den Märznhof schon länger. Letztes Jahr hat mein Freundeskreis entschieden hier zu Essen, da wir über Bekannte viel positives gehört hatten. Was soll ich sagen, die Entscheidung war ein Glücksgriff. 😍 Wir hatten reserviert, was ich Leuten dringenst empfehle, vor allem im Sommer ist das Restaurant bei gutem Wetter immer voll. Das Restaurant ist modern rustikal eingerichtet und versprüht einen positiven ländlichen Charme. Zudem gibt es für draussen eine grosse Terrasse, mit wundervollem Blick über Penzberg und Umgebung, Richtung Alpen. Als wir ankamen wurden wir herzlich begrüsst. Aufnahme der Getränkebestellung verlief zügig. Die Speisekarte ist übersichtlich aber bietet trotzdem eine gute Auswahl an Speisen. Es wird Saisonales und eine regelmäßig wechselnde Tageskarte angeboten. Gibt auch Gerichte ohne Fleisch, aber der Fokus liegt klar auf der Bayerischen Küche. Für Vegetarier und Veganer ist das Restaurant eher semioptimal. Die Preise sind fair gehalten, weder teuer noch günstig. Der Service ist gut koordiniert und sehr aufmerksam, ohne aufdringlich zu wirken. Wartezeiten hatten wir nicht, daher hat es auch nicht lange gedauert, bis das Essen an den Tisch kam. Das Essen hat allen sehr gut geschmeck. Die Portionen sind ideal, nicht zu klein, nicht zu gross. Es wurde relativ spät und obwohl die Küche schon geschlossen war, haben sie ausnahmsweise uns noch ein Dessert kreiert. Ein krönender Abschluss für diesen gelungenen Abend. Das Ganze habe ich dieses Jahr wiederholt, als Verwandte aus der Schweiz mich besucht haben. Wie beim ersten Mal, waren alle begeistert und zufrieden. Die Toiletten waren alle sauber und modern. Zu Fuss ist das Restaurant leider nur schwer zu erreichen, da es doch ein wenig ausserhalb der Stadt, auf einem kleinen Hügel liegt. Wer Wert auf ein gutes Preisleistungs verhältnis, eine schöne Aussicht, zügiges und freundliches Personal sowie gutes Essen legt, liegt hier GOLDRICHTIG.

Sehr freundliches Personal, leckeres Essen, tolles Ambiente und eine tolle Aussicht! Parkplätze sind genügend vorhanden. Das Mango-Himbeer-Törtchen aus eigener Konditorei war super lecker. Immer wieder gerne, wenn wir in der Nähe sind!

Wir waren nicht zum Brunch oder Essen dort. Wir hatten den typischen Kaffee und Kuchen, beides war sehr gut. Die Preise sind etwas höher, aber dafür bekommt man einen Kaffee oder ein anderes Getränk mit Blick auf eine traumhafte Landschaft! Der Service im bayerischen Dialekt hat uns sehr gefallen.

Tolle Aussicht, aber wir haben über 1.5 Stunden aufs Essen gewartet. Niemand hat sich entschuldigt. Dazu kam, dass die Portionen klein waren. Schade, wären gerne häufiger gekommen.

Hier passt einfach alles. Die Terrasse mit dem wunderschönen Panorama, der Service und die Speisen und Getränke alle auf hohem Niveau. Besonders erwähnenswert ist auch die Patisserie, feine Kuchen und Törtchen mit gutem Kaffee oder Espresso. Ich habe Gnocci mit zweierlei Spargel gehabt. Das war soooooo köstlich. Und ja, die Aussicht ist unbezahlbar. Es ist so schön, dass man regional essen gehen kann und weiß: hier bin ich noch nie enttäuscht worden.

Schönstes Frühstück in traumhafter Lage

Maßlose Enttäuschung: Mangelhafte Küchenleistung zu hohen Preisen Wir waren heute zu dritt im Merzenhof zu Gast und mussten leider feststellen, dass die Qualität der Speisen in keiner Weise den Preisen entspricht. Für eine Gesamtrechnung von 70 € war das Gebotene schlichtweg unzureichend. Die Kritikpunkte im Einzelnen: Pasta: Die Nudeln waren weit entfernt von "al dente" – sie waren steinhart und teilweise noch brüchig, was auf eine viel zu kurze Kochzeit hindeutet. Beilagen: Die Serviettenknödel waren geschmacklich leider völlig misslungen und ungenießbar. Garpunkte: Ein "Medium" bestelltes Steak wurde fast roh (rare) serviert und musste zur Korrektur erneut in die Küche. Gesamteindruck: Auch an den Nachbartischen zeichnete sich ein ähnliches Bild ab: Ein Zwiebelrostbraten wurde aufgrund seiner Zähigkeit zurückgegeben, ein Schnitzel blieb wegen mangelnden Geschmacks halb verzehrt stehen. Fazit: Es ist sehr bedauerlich, da der Service ausgesprochen freundlich und bemüht war. Dennoch steht die kulinarische Leistung in keinem Verhältnis zum Preis. Bei 70 € für drei Personen darf man eine fachgerechte Zubereitung erwarten. Wir werden das Restaurant leider nicht mehr besuchen.

Leckeres Essen Rahmschwammerl mit Knödel sowie Beete Carpaccio. Tolle Sonnenterasse, nette Bedienung. Kommen gerade wieder.

Wir sind spontan im Märznhof eingekehrt. Obwohl wir nicht reserviert hatten, bekamen wir trotz sehr vieler Gäste noch einen sehr schönen Platz. Bei sehr gutem Essen haben wir einen wunderbaren Abend hier verbracht. In dem gemütlichen Gasthof mit sehr freundlichem und aufmerksamen Personal fühlt man sich einfach wohl. Wir kommen bestimmt wieder.

Wunderschönes Restaurant, super Lage mit tollem Blick auf die Berge des Alpenvorland. Spitze Service, megafreundliches und augmerksames Personal. Wir waren 7 Personen + einem Baby und alle waren begeistert. Findet man nicht oft. Daher volle Sternenzahl mit deutlicher Tendenz zu viel mehr Sternen.

The landlady and staff were incredibly friendly, and the food was delicious. Beautifully presented and served without a long wait. The menu offered only a few dishes, which is always a plus for us. The inn isn't overly large, but it's very cozy, clean, and nicely decorated. The venison stew was incredibly tender, delicious, and, most importantly, fresh. Highly recommended.

Nice atmosphere, but nothing special. The staff isn't very friendly. The food is good, but nothing more. The rooms are cozy, but also very noisy due to the many very young guests. A real hipster hangout.

In glorious sunshine, we got a table outside on the terrace even without a reservation. The service was really quick and super friendly. We were delighted with the zucchini fritters with salmon and salad, and the classic roast pork with potato dumplings and coleslaw. The view of the mountains is absolutely stunning. A visit to the restaurant is well worth it, as it's charmingly decorated in a Bavarian style with light wood. A wonderful place to visit. We'll definitely be back!

Very nice restaurant. The food and prices are very good. There's also a daily special outside the regular menu. Friendly service. The only criticism is the fries, which were left in the fryer a bit too long and were dry.

The view is truly beautiful. But today we ordered chanterelle mushrooms with cream sauce and bread dumplings for €18.70. Unfortunately, we only got a béchamel soup with venison (5 pieces) and flour dumplings with added flavor enhancers. Not a great end to our vacation. Perhaps the starch lies in the homemade cakes. But we decided not to order them again, just to be on the safe side.

A well-maintained appearance, both inside and out! Clean and well-maintained (including the restrooms and the rest of the area). (The interior isn't my taste, but nothing to complain about). Food = very good quality, top-notch flavor, simply focused on the essentials and presentation! We haven't tried the drinks extensively. Service was very friendly, quick, attentive, and the team worked together; everyone was equally interested in the well-being of the guests and always approachable. I would happily recommend it again and again. The wonderful view of the mountain panorama from the terrace is another plus! Perhaps they could have added candles or light sources to the tables in the evening; the fairy lights weren't turned on, which would have naturally attracted mosquitoes and other vermin! Extremely satisfied all around!

It's been a while since we ate at the Märznhof. The ambiance is excellent; there's nothing to complain about. Unfortunately, we found the food to be mediocre and interchangeable. The Wiener Schnitzel was very poorly prepared, and the fries were relatively crispy. The accompanying salad was very small and lacking in flavor. My request for fried potatoes instead of fries was not fulfilled, even though they were on the daily menu. This was never an issue at other restaurants.

A very pleasant ambiance, super delicious food. The service is very friendly; the three of us arrived without booking, and a table was quickly made ready for us. They offer traditional home cooking as well as daily specials. There's also a pastry shop attached, so it's worth stopping by even just for coffee and cake.

Restaurant / Breakfast Review: We had breakfast at the "Märznhof" on May 24, 2025, as a couple. It was too cold for the wonderful terrace with its great view, so we were seated inside. The reservation worked. The style is modern-rustic; I liked it. The service was very friendly; at times, we would have liked more attention. The breakfast selection is very good; the seasonal sandwich for €11.50 (see photo) was very good and a generous portion. However, I found the yogurt for around €4.50 too small. I would have liked to have checked the menu again, but unfortunately, there isn't one on the website. There's nothing under "You can take a closer look at the menu here:" Breakfast is served Tuesday - Friday from 10 a.m. Saturday | Sunday | Public Holidays from 9:30 a.m. But UNTIL when?? And Tuesday is actually a day off... The "Märznhof" is also worth a visit for its cake and pastry counter. Free parking is available below the restaurant. We would love to return to this idyllic setting.

Definitely recommended. We stopped here after our bike ride. Delicious dishes at fair prices. The staff is friendly, although you sometimes have to signal if you want something else (we don't mind). We weren't asked for dessert and had to ask for the menu ourselves, so this is just a tip/well-intentioned criticism 😉 We'd be happy to go back anytime. Wonderful view of the Alpine panorama.

A pub and beer garden with a phenomenal location and views of the Alps. The staff are extremely friendly, cheerful, and quick. Great dishes, top-notch in taste! And the value for money is excellent. I always enjoy coming here.

Disappointing, the food was tasteless. The service was okay. They need to work on the cleanliness a bit.

We've been to the Märznhof several times, but unfortunately, the last two visits were disappointing. We had, among other things, burnt, over-salted napkin dumplings, which we then complained about and returned because they were inedible. We then ordered an espresso, and when we paid, the waiter very generously said he hadn't charged for it. However, the inedible main course was on the bill. We then intervened and stated that we didn't want to pay for it. We then spoke to the manager, then it was removed from the bill, but the espresso was added instead. What kind of poor handling of complaints is that? Instead of giving us the espresso as an apology, we had to pay for it, and no apology came either. At today's prices, this is unacceptable. The fantastic view means the restaurant is always busy, but the quality of the food has declined dramatically, as has the service; you feel a bit tolerated. It's a shame, as we live locally.

Simply beautiful! ...I regret to correct that. We were there for breakfast for the second time. The 1 for 2...and we had that a year ago too. We were disappointed. As plentiful and lovingly prepared a year ago as it was now, it was just as disappointing. We even had a picture to compare. As a couple, I don't want to share a slice of tomato or argue about who gets the slice of salami. At breakfast for two people, everything has to be on the plate at least twice. Even the bread selection was smaller. What a shame. The location and service are still top-notch. But we won't be back. We'd rather charge a euro more...if there's no other option.

We celebrated our wedding at the Märznhof. The food was excellent, the service friendly and very attentive. The dining room was decorated with great attention to detail.

Unfortunately, our visit didn't meet our expectations. The service was inattentive and seemed unengaged. Although we had only ordered sausages, the food arrived incomplete: one portion was accidentally served incorrectly, and another was missing entirely. Only after repeated inquiries did they respond – unfortunately, without an apology. We still had to pay the full amount for the incorrectly served portion, which we found disappointing. A little more accommodating would have significantly improved the situation. We also felt neglected throughout the rest of the meal: We had to actively ask for the bill and weren't asked if we wanted anything else. It's a shame, because we would have liked to have had dessert. Overall, a visit that unfortunately doesn't leave a good impression.

What further disappointed us: We would have liked to order dessert, but they didn't even ask if we wanted anything else. We felt completely ignored and eventually, we were fed up—we just wanted to leave. Overall, a very unsatisfying experience. This is not how you imagine a restaurant visit.

Wonderful view of the Tölz foothills of the Alps and a direct view of the Zugspitze, of course only when the weather is nice. Cake and food in my opinion 10 out of 10 stars. Service was quick and special requests were quickly taken into account. I would love to come back. Others can learn a lot from this.

I'm looking forward to some delicious roast pork. Dumplings didn't taste like anything. Half of the meat was ok, the other half was cut. Was tough and not edible. There was still a piece of crust. It was totally black on the underside. So not suitable for eating either. We definitely won't see each other again. And if the kitchen door wasn't constantly open, the clothes wouldn't smell so like grease.

We received a very warm welcome at the Märznhof and we enjoyed the food excellently. We will definitely come again to try the other culinary delights such as the breakfast and the excellent cakes. The ambience, very Alpine-style, was tasteful, but didn't suit my personal taste. Nevertheless, we are looking forward to our next visit and can recommend the Märznhof.

Very stylish restaurant in a Bavarian mountain hut atmosphere. Friendly service, great views and, above all, delicious and plentiful food. We had the roast pork, highly recommended. The price is really ok. The view of the nearby mountains from the terrace or the shutters is also great.

We have been to Märznhof on many occasions and are more than satisfied every single time! This year we were guests again on Boxing Day with the whole family and were completely thrilled again! The service was again a 10/10. Feel free to come back anytime :)
