German Swabian cuisine was offered and was very tasty. I can only recommend it Sausage salad, potato salad and the lentils with sausages and spaetzle were very good

After a disappointing visit to the restaurant on Friday in April (on the menu pollack with potato salad €18.90). The portion was as big as my palm, not even 1 cm thick and 2 tablespoons of potato salad, although there were 2 sizeable pieces of fish on the plate at the neighboring table, the visit was very disappointing. A rip-off in terms of price. After talking to the waiter yesterday I didn't look for an apology or anything like that. Another attempt, the waitress only brought the menu after asking and immediately wanted to know what we wanted to eat. The schnitzel was tough, tasteless and lay on the fried potatoes, so you could hardly see their condition. Dripping with grease and probably the remains of the pan and for €18.50 For us the restaurant and the service are dead and cannot be recommended. There are better ones in Stuttgart. The only thing that bothers you is the guest/customer.

I had woody, poorly peeled asparagus with shrimp skewer for 29.50 euros. Passed on to the waiter when asked. No real reaction. Probably not again.

I can't comment on the food because we just wanted to have two quick beers and my pregnant friend wanted to sit down and have a drink. Visiting from Upper Franconia, we are not used to the fact that 2 p.m. is lunchtime and we had to get up even though there were still at least 20 free places. Especially since Upper Franconia is known for its strong and rapid beer consumption. The waiter tried to package it nicely - but still in a typically Italian arrogant and uncomprehending manner. The atmosphere is really nice and it would definitely have been a good stay. If there were long lines and no free seats, I would have understood the argument... not like that.

Were not served and then went somewhere else after 20 minutes

I usually take photos of the food, but unfortunately here I was so disappointed with the waiter that I didn't even bother. I was pregnant at the time and wanted to spend a nice afternoon with my partner, but unfortunately I was served by a racist waiter who wanted to reserve a table that wasn't reserved for anyone else. Making assumptions about a person's appearance, behavior, and treating us like we're eating for free or paying less than the other guests is just pathetic. I wish you, dear waiter, good luck in achieving enlightenment in life. Other than that the food was delicious but unfortunately I will never come here again.

Food is fantastic . Above my expectation. But the most impressive is the service of the guy that serves us . He’s extremely nice, polite and helpful. He makes an effort to explain patiently on the different dishes..

Terrible service. We wait 10 minutes for the menu. Which we were given in German even though we spoke English to the waiter. He tells us it's not possible to have small beers if we don't eat???? It's not marked anywhere. Rebelote we wait 15 minutes to be served and another 15 minutes to be able to pay. When you don't leave a tip you get a nasty comment. And then what else??? To flee

Good Swabian food. Depending on the service, very friendly. Something more attentive and less harsh in tone would be appropriate. Overall, a recommendation if you're in the mood for hearty Swabian cuisine.

There is no worse restaurant in Stuttgart. Half the shop was empty at 3 p.m. It's just not possible to have a drink, the waitress refused to serve us. Extremely unfriendly. We wouldn't have tipped us anymore, even if we ate.

Unter der Woche spontan eingekehrt, nachdem man jahrelang immer vorbei- statt reingegangen ist. Wir wurden freundlich empfangen, durften uns einen Platz aussuchen, erhielten zügig die Karte. Die Bestellung wurde dann auch zeitnah aufgegeben, nachdem wir den freundlichen Hinweis erhielten, dass einiges von der Tageskarte / Wochengericht bereits aus war. Auf Beilagenänderungen ging man anstandslos ein, und schlug uns auf dieser Basis auch eine andere Änderung eines typisch Gerichts vor, Jägerschnitzel paniert. Mega. Werde ich künftig häufiger verlangen Fazot: Schwäbisches Kleinod in der Gastronomie, wir kommen in jedem Fall wieder!

The Swabian would probably say: “You can eat it”. The food was very tasty, the spaetzle and Maultaschen that I had were freshly made, the meat and the sauce were also excellent. Rounded off by friendly and competent staff. A clear recommendation!

Yesterday we had a unique experience in Marktstüble. The waiter was extraordinary good. He was super nice and helpful. Very very rare great service in Germany.

We are very excited. The waiters were really very friendly and were always available for small talk. There was even a delicious starter soup for FREE. Where else can you get something for free today?! We really love this little restaurant. The food was also really delicious. The price-performance ratio is also great. Definitely deserves the 5 stars and we clearly recommend it to everyone!

Super loud and tight. Unfortunately the cabbage in the Kohkroulades wasn't cooked through. When I complained about it, I said there's nothing we can do about it. When I put my toddler on the tricycle outside, full mugs of beer were poured all over my pants. There was an angry apology and I was simply left standing. That was a really bad experience there this afternoon. Absolutely not recommended!! It's a tourist trap anyway!

Great restaurant with great service staff. I want it everywhere.

It was so wonderful there, great market stalls and a great restaurant. We sat at the bar and drank cocktails.

We were recently at the Marktstüble and had mixed experiences. The Maultaschen were really tasty, there's nothing wrong with that! Unfortunately the service was not at the same level. Our waiter was new, which is understandable, but the service left a lot to be desired. We had to wait almost 40 minutes for our drinks and almost an hour for our food. Such waiting times may be bearable when it comes to food, but definitely not when it comes to drinks. Dealing with the situation was even more problematic: another waiter was asked about the problems by guests next to us, but did not respond helpfully. Instead of finding a solution or apologizing, he referred to the many guests in an unfriendly tone. Better support for the new colleague would certainly have helped. During our visit, several guests got up and left because they simply had to wait too long. That speaks for itself. The absolute lowest point, however, was paying: our waiter simply added a tip for himself, which of course isn't possible. Conclusion: Good food, but service desperately needs improvement. A friendlier approach to problems, better organization and more consideration for the guests would make the experience much more pleasant.

Zahlreiche Tische vor der Markthalle, also blieben wir draußen. Der erste Eindruck war ein lautstarker Streit der Kellner untereinander. Nach langer Wartezeit wurden auch die Gäste wahrgenommen und nach ihren Wünschen befragt. Die Bestellung haben wir vorsichtig und zurückhaltend aufgegeben, um den ohnehin schon aufgebrachten Kellner etwas zu beruhigen. Das Essen kam dann wieder nach langer Wartezeit, war kaum noch warm und entsprach schwäbischer Gasthausküche ; wirklich nicht schlecht , aber auch nicht besonders interessant. Nach wiederum langer Wartezeit haben wir die Rechnung erhalten und haben dieses Lokal verlassen. Trinkgeld haben wir uns in diesem Fall erspart, wofür hätte es auch sein sollen ??

Durch Zufall kamen wir hier vorbei und entschieden uns, hier Maultaschen zu essen. Wir wurden nicht enttäuscht. Die Maultaschen schmeckten hervorragend. Die Portionen waren auch ok. Und es wurde alles liebevoll auf den Tellern angerichtet. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Auf jeden Fall werde ich wiederkommen.

Had dinner with you again today. As always, it was very, very good. I can only recommend it. We received very friendly and courteous service from your employee, Mr. Kern, which made visiting you even more fun. Thank you very much for that.

The family visited this restaurant by chance, although the 4* reviews were a little alarming. But everything was tasty, the service was good, the portions were large. The truth is that dinner for two adults and children cost almost €100. But this is exactly the case when you are happy to settle by leaving a tip.

Today's first visit with complete satisfaction: Service friendly, unobtrusive and competent, food very tasty.

I regularly like to eat there because the price is great and the service is actually courteous. I was there again recently and realized that the waiter didn't quite understand the restaurant's processes in terms of guest service. When paying, I noticed that the receipt showed 1x bottle of water, although there should have been a large glass of sparkling water there. After pointing this out to the waiter, the answer came promptly: “That only differs by 40ct”. Yes, it's only 40ct and yes it doesn't matter, but this basic arrogance is simply not acceptable and guests are not treated like that either! Mistakes happen and are human, but they can be corrected. Of course the tip was poor (this person would have earned €0.0 plus a medal for their extremely poor performance) which was immediately noticeable paraverbally. Complete no go!

Great breakfast. Super tasty and really great service team. If it wasn't a 3 hour drive I would come by at least once a month.

After a stopover from Ischgl, we went for a bite to eat. Not expensive & the food was delicious, as the icing on the cake we also received free soup. Nice owner, great guy.

Visit on December 4th for lunch, table number 15. The dish of the day, the liver, was already sold out at 11:50 a.m. The food was average, the service doesn't get a star. Never been treated so unkindly. I felt compelled to pay the bill in cash, the waiter didn't ask, printed it out and said that if I paid by card he would have to go again. The meal cost 43.70, I gave 50 euros, he came back with 6 euros and I was supposed to get the 30 cents then too. I'm still waiting for this today. We were also not made aware that there was a soup for every dish that you could get yourself. Somewhere. Snarky, arrogant, loud service. Didn't realize yet that we were the customers. Once again in Stuttgart we give this restaurant a wide berth

Delicious food and great service. Our waiter/waiter was great, I haven't experienced anything like that in a long time. Despite the full house, friendly, always ready with a kind word or joke and never annoyed.

I spontaneously decided on this location in the market hall. I was particularly looking forward to the venison goulash. But unfortunately the mushrooms predominated instead of the meat with 4 parts. After I reported this to the service staff, they responded very quickly. I think it's extremely great and a big compliment to the service staff. I would be very happy to come back.

Metal wire in the food is justified by “the kitchen in Wangen” - question about statement from the kitchen: We can go to Wangen together on Monday. On our tip there was some schnapps. We said that this doesn't make it good.

I come from Kassel and visit a museum in Stuttgart every now and then. Before or after I have to eat at the Marktstüble. Great menu, quick service, great value for money for the customer. Really great...

Ambience good, very cozy outside in the beer garden. Good, home-style food. Price performance ok. Service has to work on itself, short and stressed.

We were greeted by a nice Hungarian server. He helped me choose, the side dishes were flexible. Along with the main course, we also received soup, which is included in the price. The food was very delicious! We received a lot of information from him about what to see in the city.

We were in Stuttgart today as a short vacation and wanted to have a morning pint in the Marktstüberl. Unfortunately we were too early, but the nice waiter Uwe sent us on with a recommendation. Since he left a lasting (positive) impression, we went out for dinner late in the afternoon and were totally thrilled. Super nice service from Uwe, super good food (it was definitely different these days) what can I say? Always happy . Thank you, Uwe, your fans from Wolfratshausen.

Not recommended at busy times, no table numbers so staff wander around with plates of food shouting in German and if you are not fluent it’s easy to miss your dish. On a table of three people two of us got food quickly and the third person ate twenty minutes later. The food and location are good and the market hall itself is highly recommended.

Great restaurant & beer garden near the market halls in the heart of Stuttgart.

I have never experienced such unfriendly or impossible service in my life. After our friendly request that we would like to be treated more kindly, the waiter refused to serve us. We then got up and left. The boss wasn't interested in our complaint either. I can only advise against it. There are much better places in Stuttgart.

Getting a table on your own at lunchtime during the week was completely unproblematic. Serviced quickly and politely. Once again I ate exceptionally good herring there and can only recommend it.

The food was good, home-style and the salad was freshly prepared. There was also a delicious soup as a starter, which was free. The young man who served us was very friendly. The restaurant is perfectly fine for a lunch between strolling through the market hall. Peter Kalmbach

A very nice restaurant, only if you can tolerate the very unfriendly waiters. I don't know where other people eat here, but we (2 people) apparently didn't eat from the same kitchen! If you don't eat, you can't drink anything. Very high prices for lousy food. Schnitzel made of cardboard 3mm thick with hard potatoes. Don't have a shopping bag with you, otherwise you'll use up too much space and risk having to leave! The food is below par for these prices, but the treatment by the staff is subpar. It's best not to go there anymore.

Good German and Swabian cuisine. The portion size is sufficient. Attentive staff. Nice outside area. Price-performance ratio at city center level.

After waiting at least 10 minutes for the waiter (3 waiters without any plan, hardly any guests when we arrived), we ordered 2 dishes from the menu. My husband had a Markthallenpfännle (pork loin steak with cream sauce, lard Maultaschen and Allgäu cheese spaetzle) for 22.50 euros. The pan was swimming in fat, the steak was about 0.5 cm thick. Not a highlight in terms of taste either. My sausage salad with fried potatoes for 16.50 euros was also disappointing. Half of the plate was covered with wilted lettuce - brown edges, sausage salad very sour with coarsely chopped pickles. The highlight was the otherwise unseasoned fried potatoes that tasted like old fat and which I had to return (but of course had to pay for). After some time I got some (very tasty) bread. My conclusion: Not again!

In short - I was completely satisfied. I came alone and got a good spot even though it was really busy. The service was quick, friendly and attentive. After a long period of indecision, I decided between two dishes: Maultaschen with melted onions and gravy with potato salad. A good choice because it tasted excellent. What was pleasing was that the meal was accompanied by broccoli cream soup just like that. When I told the waiter about my indecision while paying, I was given a small bowl of spaetzle with lentils (the other dish) to try. That made me really happy. A small, not self-evident gift, but one that fit perfectly into the great stay at the Marktstüble. Very happy again!

I wanted to eat something. Unfortunately the dish was out. Where I said then I'll just have a drink. I had to change the table. Since this table is only reserved for dining guests. Although I wanted to eat something. But it was over. I just wanted to Sitting in the sun. I've never experienced anything like that before. Even though there were still enough tables available. That's how you scare away your guests. You won't see me here anymore.

We were selected a spot and were chased away to another spot. Ok, no problem. We just wanted to have coffee and something to drink. The regulations about sitting space are not logical. Where we were first sitting was supposedly only for eating (But also not for everyone). We saw two tables with only beers and coffees. Then no-one came to serve us for 15 minutes. So we left. The service got our order twice. And we still didn't get served. And just to add, there were 3 servers only one meter away.

Always very tasty and super nice staff. We've been here often and so far we've never had anything to complain about.

Simply drinking a beer on the sparsely occupied terrace on an autumnal Monday at 4.45 p.m. is not possible according to the service... then we don't want to eat there in the future either! Pretty arrogant.

The food is very tasty, as is the beer. But what bothers me is the abnormal communication between the service employees. Here people complain and discuss who has or serves which customers, unfortunately at a level that everyone can hear. You are asked in advance whether you would like to eat something, and if you say no, you get a nasty look that already negatively affects your mood and well-being. Otherwise everything is good, food is great, cyclists are great, etc. Only service could be a little more humane, so unfortunately only 2 stars.

Burnt steaks, and the waiter (the blond one) very mean and insensitive!

We were there for the evening, the service was okay, the food was rather ordinary. The menu itself is not very interesting, especially if you prefer vegetarian dishes. Vegan dishes are not on the menu. The outdoor spaces are very nice.

Was busy. Delicious chanterelles and they replaced the tagliatelle with fried potatoes which was great! It was difficult to operate but we gave everything. One point deducted because my food was smoked at me from the neighboring table at the end. It would be better if there was a smoking area. I then moved to another table, which was at least a nice solution. Overall, it's delicious if you have a little patience. Highly priced.

Friday 4:25 p.m., 30 degrees in Stuttgart, my wife, my 7-year-old son and I wanted something to drink and I wanted to eat Maultaschen myself. The waiter came to us with little motivation and then told us that everyone needed to eat something because it was a restaurant and the evening business was about to start. Tables weren't even half full. We have never experienced anything so outrageous in a restaurant. Absolutely not recommended for a place like this.

Sometimes very unfriendly service. Guests who just want to have a drink are rudely turned away, even though there are enough tables available. The food was mediocre.

We spontaneously decided on the traditional Marktstüble. The selection of food and drinks was large The food we chose came quickly and was of very good quality. The red wine from the nearby area really rounded us out. What struck me negatively was the behavior of two men in service. How you behaved towards customers who arrived later and what attitude you had towards your own work was frightening! I found it disrespectful to the guests that they then started retrieving the salt and pepper shakers from the tables while they were still eating.

Typical Swabian restaurant, also with a daily special, but not everything is always there in the evening. And of course typical Swabian dishes 🤓

Nice to sit, has flair, good food and friendly service

We didn't eat anything there, just drank, nice big glasses. But the trouble started when I paid. Card payment was refused for 2 drinks of 9.80 euros. Why don't we find out about this beforehand???? there was no clue anywhere. At the bakery I pay ONE roll for 70 cents with a card. Weird store, we won't go there anymore.

We enjoy eating here every time. The waiters are all very attentive and quick. The food is always delicious. Always happy, keep it up.🙏

Acceptable restaurant food, perhaps one of the least worse found in the area. One of the meat dishes had clearly gone bad, it was unacceptable that the chef let it out of the kitchen. However, it was appreciable that once it was pointed out they removed it from the bill... The dish was in fact in the meantime since the contents not only had an unpleasant odor but were certainly also unhealthy. Water costs are outrageous, but it's like that everywhere, better to drink beer 🍻

Wir hatten uns an einen freien Tisch gesetzt. Wörtlich vom Personal: Wir sollen uns an einen 2er Tisch setzen. Seltsam war, daß die 2 anderen 4er Tische auch mit 2 Personen nur belegt waren. Unfreundlich. Beim Essen war mein Schnitzel ohne Geschmack. Die Speisen waren unterer Durchschnitt. Die andere Servicekraft an unserem Tisch war freundlich. Insgesamt: Wir werden das Lokal nicht weiterempfehlen und Essen in Zukunft woanders.

Rude, unfriendly waitresses who refuse to help

The waiter asked me briskly in the hallway what I wanted. I wanted to have a drink around 4:30 p.m. He then stared at me and replied that it was a restaurant. Apparently he didn’t “just” want to sell drinks. He showed me clearly that I was unwanted. Great restaurant… By the way: There wasn't much going on there, many of the tables were empty. In any case, a restaurant that I will certainly not visit again. Economically and humanely not super smart or far-sighted: I prefer 0/5 stars :-)

This little pearl with excellent Swabian cuisine and fine service can be found right next to the market hall in Stuttgart. Despite the large crowds that gathered for lunch at the Marktstüble in a rather hip part of Stuttgart, the waiter was friendly and quick. The cheese noodles were first class, and my wife's salad was also wonderful. It was particularly great to have the opportunity to try the soup that was free for guests at lunchtime. Gladly again, anytime!

We had two drinks and at the end I wanted to pay by card. The waiter said in a very snotty manner and slightly impertinently that card payments only start at €15 and then I would have to give him a five euro tip when I asked him that it wasn't written anywhere. The fact that you can only pay with a card if there is a minimum amount and that there is no legal basis for that made me want to send me to the bank even though it was pouring rain. After a lot of discussion, the restaurant manager said I could pay by card. Strange that it suddenly works.

We wanted to eat something for two, but unfortunately we were chased away by the waiter! You are not allowed to sit there with two people at a table for four in the shade! We should sit in the sun, my husband is 74 years old! As long-time customers, we will no longer visit this restaurant! My husband wanted to eat his roast beef, but unfortunately he wasn't allowed to! Just for commerce!! Very unfortunate!

Delicious good cuisine, very nice service

An excellent place to eat local food. Letter in English and German. Excellent treatment, they try to understand you, which for me is a lot. They have a terrace and also an interior. The service is fast, friendly and well organized despite being full. The dishes were what I expected, hearty and well prepared. I recommend it if you want local food, like Stuttgart lentils or German knuckle. The beer is not the best nor is it as cold as I would like, but it is acceptable and it is local. Regarding the price, it is not cheap, but it is in line with the area, being in the center, service, quality, etc...

Cozy restaurant, very good Swabian cuisine, vegetarian options and attentive service. Highly recommended if you go shopping in the center of Stuttgart.
