MALO in Stuttgart

MALO is truly beautifully decorated – stylish, well-thought-out, and full of atmosphere. That's exactly why we were so excited about our visit. Unfortunately, our enjoyment was somewhat dampened by the service. We had to wait over 20 minutes for the menus and drinks, and even afterward, the waiter was barely present. We had to get up several times to find someone so we could even order – we weren't allowed at the bar, as everything had to go through our table server. Particularly unpleasant: The waiter was not only extremely inattentive, but also physically aggressive in a way that was simply inappropriate in such a setting. He repeatedly touched our shoulders without any reason or familiarity – that was definitely a line crossed for us. When it started to rain and our window seat and some of our belongings got wet, it took far too long for the window to even close. Overall, we felt more like a nuisance than a welcome throughout the evening. The food itself was good to very good in terms of taste. The espresso martini at the end was unfortunately disappointing. For what we experienced overall, almost €150 simply wasn't justified. We didn't tip for the reasons mentioned above – which prompted a sharp remark from the waiter. Conclusion: The location and the cuisine have potential, but the service ruined our evening for good. Perhaps it was an isolated incident – ​​but we would definitely prefer a different service team on a second visit.

Yesterday we were privileged to spend a wonderful evening in this dreamlike house, and it was simply magical. As soon as you enter, you sense the special atmosphere: stylish, warm, and full of charm. You immediately feel welcome and cared for. The cuisine was a delight for all the senses. Each dish was prepared with love, a true taste experience. It wasn't just a dinner, but an experience. We spent our girls' night at Malo. It's very centrally located and easily accessible from the Dorotheen parking garage. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere is really lovely. You can sit inside or outside, and there's plenty of room even for a larger group. The menu is straightforward, but there's something for every taste. There's also a seasonal menu. In addition to the typical alcoholic drinks, there are also delicious non-alcoholic drinks. The food, rump steak and beef tartar, were very good! If you order the nachos by yourself, you'll hardly be able to finish them. Definitely worth a visit!

I can wholeheartedly recommend Malo to everyone! We've been there a few times and were always impressed. The occasion for our last visit was a family celebration. Even though we were a large group, the service was incredibly good and fast. The staff was very friendly and attentive, so we all felt completely at home. They forgot our reservation on my birthday - totally not worth it

The woman at the review really shouldn't be taken seriously. I've stood in front of her four times now and each time she looks at me in horror and says there's no chance today, we're completely full, even though there's more than enough space inside and the next people who line up without a reservation get in without any problems. The woman should learn not to have anything against people with dark hair and beards.

The Malo is an eye-catcher. It's worth it. We had very friendly service. The food was good, but not amazing. In our search for culinary highlights, Malo didn't make it to the top places.

Only good for atmosphere. Food was nothing great, chicken was not cooked well (small drops of blood inside), service is bad with rude waiters who refuse to serve dishes if too many people order the same dish and kitchen told us the chicken is fine like this even with the blood inside! And it is extremely overpriced. Never again

My favorite cocktail “Porn Star” was on the menu – and it was mixed perfectly! The design is also really nice: modern, stylish and yet comfortable. I immediately felt comfortable. Went there for the first time today with friends. The service was very friendly and despite the incredible number of guests, we had our food and drinks at our table quite quickly. The food was delicious and varied. Unfortunately, the later the evening got, the louder the music became and we could hardly understand each other at all. And the conversations at the tables around us made the noise level even louder. It's a shame, because the restaurant is really great.

Der Service war überhaupt nicht gut. Wir wollten eigentlich noch einen Nachtisch bestellen, aber wir haben uns so unwohl gefühlt, dass wir gegangen sind. Location ist top, eins der schönsten Restaurants in denen wir waren. Wir würden aber nicht nochmal kommen.

Waren schon mehrmals im Malo, so enttäuscht wie dieses Mal, wurde ich noch nie. Vorspeise Buratta, welcher eiskalt war und sehr wenig Gemüse dabei war für 17€… Dann haben wir das „Highlight“ Zwiebelrostbraten bestellt, nach dem Gargrad wurde nicht einmal gefragt, und ich bekam eine Schuhsohle, bekam zwar nach meiner Reklamation einen neuen, welcher aber nurnoch halb so gross war, wie der erste. Für das Geld, hatte ich viel mehr erwartet, schade. Es wird mehr auf die Location ( Instahotspot ) geachtet, als für gutes Essen und guter Service, serh schade.

The dishes were extremely high quality prepared and simply delicious. We would also highly recommend the cocktails, they were also really good. We'd love to come back.

Another sobering experience in Stuttgart's gastronomy. Although there was nothing going on, the table we ordered wasn't prepared, there was no beer, the reception was sparse and in the end I was deducted 20 euros too much on top of the already extreme prices. My sister was literally yelled at and beaten up by a waitress last night and that was only because, according to the waiter, she was sitting at a seat that was already reserved... the waitress was a young woman and had black/dark hair. She was treated so badly afterwards that she wanted to leave. It's a shame, the store used to be good.

For the main course, the rump steak was unfortunately not done as ordered. The MALO Sprizz is very sweet and definitely not an Aperol Sprizz. The prices are sometimes quite high. At the end we also had a bottle of red wine on the bill that we hadn't consumed.

Ich hab meinen Geburtstag dort mit 13 Personen gefeiert und als wir reinkamen mussten wir entsetzt feststellen, dass meine (online OpenTable) Reservierung nicht beim Malo vermerkt wurde! Wir hatten Glück, dass das Malo zu dem Zeitpunkt noch ausreichend Sitzplätze zur Verfügung hatte. Es gab auch keine Entschuldigung in irgendeiner Form. Dafür, dass wir gut Umsatz gebracht haben (essen, Flaschen Wein etc.) und die Reservierung durch die Lappen gegangen ist, empfand ich es als Frechheit, dass ein kleines Dessert mit Fontäne zum Geburtstag regulär abgerechnet wurde.

Never again, for 2 people 114€ and gave an extra tip of 14€. Ambience very nice, nothing special to eat but never so much again.

Der Service war ok, manchmal leider ein bisschen langsam und wir mussten die Bestellung nochmal bestätigen, weil er sich nichts aufgeschrieben hat. Nicht so wild, kann man aber besser machen bei einem Tisch für 2 Personen. Das Essen war hervorragend, sowohl Vorspeise als auch Hauptgang. Die Preise sind etwas gehoben, entsprechen aber voll und ganz der spitzen Qualität.

Unfortunately our visit to Malo on September 20th at 11:50 p.m. was a disappointment. As soon as we entered we were greeted extremely unfriendly. Instead of being shown to a table or greeted in a friendly manner, we were made to feel like we were being a nuisance. No smile, no "welcome", instead we were simply ignored. We waited for a while hoping that someone would take care of us - in vain. The employees seemed annoyed and uninterested. After we received a cheeky answer to a question, we had enough and left without ordering anything. This kind of behavior is absolutely unacceptable in the catering industry. We're definitely not coming back!

I felt very uncomfortable in their store. The drinks menu offers various non-alcoholic drinks, which disappointingly were not available when ordered. The (unfriendly) waitress pointed out to us that the “non-alcoholic” drinks contain a little alcohol. The waitress's always unfriendly demeanor was another reason for me with a heavy heart not to visit the store again.

Das Malo in Stuttgart punktet definitiv mit seinem wunderschönen, modernen Ambiente und einer wirklich tollen Lage. Es ist ein Ort, der auf den ersten Blick viel verspricht – stilvoll und einladend. Doch leider konnte der Service nicht ganz mit der schönen Umgebung mithalten. Die Kellner wirkten etwas unorganisiert und konnten auf Fragen nach glutenfreien Optionen oder Empfehlungen nicht wirklich weiterhelfen. Eine Alternative zum Brot gab es leider nicht. Das war etwas enttäuschend, vor allem da man sich von einem Restaurant in dieser Klasse etwas mehr erwartet hätte. Wir hatten reserviert um den Geburtstag meiner Schwester zu feiern aber dies wurde leider nicht anerkannt. Trotzdem war das Essen in Ordnung, auch wenn es nicht überragend war. Insgesamt hatte ich das Gefühl, dass das Konzept des Restaurants noch nicht ganz ausgereift ist. Wenn das Personal etwas geschulter wäre, könnte das Malo zu einem wirklich tollen Erlebnis werden. Denn optisch und atmosphärisch ist es auf jeden Fall ein Highlight. Ich hoffe, dass hier in Zukunft noch nachgebessert wird – das Potenzial ist definitiv da!
