I was there for the first time on Saturday. The staff was very friendly. I was probably unlucky because the cook was sick. The duck was fried until crispy, but unfortunately it wasn't seasoned. The sauce looked and tasted like brown water. It was all over my meal Not a crumb of salt or other seasoning. So I was disappointed with the food for the price.

Everything was great as always!

Was very good. The price is on the higher end but it still fits. Very fresh vegetables good ingredients. It didn't look like much, but that's deceptive. We didn't even manage to get the rice. The offering is changing and new things are being tried out, so it's not a run-of-the-mill Asian restaurant. I found the drinks a bit overpriced. There was a little more going on than the service could manage in a timely manner. There was a greeting from the kitchen. All in all a positive experience.

We have been eating here relatively regularly on special occasions for over 10 years now and have never been disappointed! Service, quality of food and drinks and whether you sit inside or outside... top! Addendum from July 18, 2024.... Dear Mandarin team, tonight was absolute nonsense!!! And as you seem to have written more often recently: "You can do that (or you used to be able to do it) much better!!! After more than an hour and a half we drove back without eating our dinner and were extremely disappointed. Unfortunately you have lost us as guests!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mandarin Restaurant and it was an outstanding experience! I was particularly impressed by the Peking duck, which was perfectly prepared and served. The skin was crispy, the meat tender and juicy – ​​simply a culinary delight. The service was equally excellent. The staff were very attentive, friendly and made sure we felt completely comfortable. The atmosphere in the restaurant is pleasant and welcoming, ideal for both a leisurely dinner and special occasions.

I have known the restaurant for over 25 years and always enjoy eating there. Really delicious and sometimes unusual Asian dishes with great service. There's still a bit of room for improvement in the ambience, but it's still 4 stars and if the food & service each have 5 stars and the ambience "only" 4, then it's still 5 stars overall. ;)

Great food, but a long wait after our order was taken. The beef noodles were delicious, and the prices were reasonable. Fried rice had a too many onions, but overall, it was a great experience.

We certainly wouldn't have found/visited it without Google. From the outside it looks more like a normal house. Tasted good, but not as expected. The orange cream hardly tasted orange/fruity to me. The smoked tofu was very firm (which is how it should be according to the waitress). Unfortunately there were no summer rolls either. Otherwise, the ambience inside is chic, but quite loud. The price is a bit high, but there are lunch specials. Limited parking options.

The service and food were again very good. At lunchtime you can choose from the numerous main courses and also get a large spring roll or soup. There is also a changing special menu that offers new dishes. The main courses can be ordered as large or small portions. There are also family menus and multi-course menus. Reservations in advance are mandatory as the restaurant is very busy. But you can also order everything to take away. Top! Addition: The service and food are still top. The prices have increased slightly from last time, but considering that even the small portion leaves you very full, the prices for the food are acceptable. The drinks, however, have become quite expensive. We will come back in any case. I still recommend reservations. 👍

We were there for a birthday with several generations and everything was very good and everyone was happy with the food. The service was attentive and the price/performance ratio was right. The large aquarium is always nice to look at and makes you feel comfortable.

We are often out and about in various restaurants in the Hildesheim district. But the Mandarin is by far the BEST the county has to offer. The vegetables are on point and fresh. The soups are to die for. The dishes are to be assessed as being absolutely flawless. Staff very pleasant and friendly. TOP, TOP, TOP

We ordered from home and picked up the food. Unfortunately, after the starter we discovered that the rice was completely missing… Of course we called and complained. The service was then great!!! The forgotten rice was brought home to us and there was an apology. Honestly, there is no better way to react when a mistake has been made. We'd love to come back!!! :-) THANKS!

Restaurant in the residential area which is getting a bit old (entrance area and the carpet in the restaurant). I had the pork menu: pork in a crispy dough coating, which was very tough and stringy and also very raw, unfortunately hard to enjoy, a shame! Fried pork Sichuan style, spicy was still quite good. My wife had the chicken menu: chicken breast fillet in a crispy batter with sweet and sour sauce was good!!! / Crispy chicken breast with 8 delicacies which turned out a bit too dry, what a shame! Service is very nice and explains everything very nicely! I ordered a cola and I only received a 0.33 bottle without a glass. This was resolved by another service person waiting a little longer! A €10 discount was deducted from the total price on the invoice (without asking), a very good move by the company! But we would have preferred to pay full price for good food. Based on the reviews we thought it was a good choice of restaurant, I hope it was just like that for us!

Had a 2 person menu where the three main courses were served at the same time. Unfortunately without a warming plate or warmer. So the food got cold very quickly and was not 100% edible. A main course called spicy was advertised on the menu. Which unfortunately didn't even deserve the title slightly spicy. Ergo without any sharpness. Service staff was very friendly. We found it a bit inappropriate to be served in the restaurant by men in shorts.

We were there on Friday with 17 people and sat in a separate room. Great atmosphere, very tasty food and the service was great. We would like to come again.

Very nice and modern “Chinese”. We thought the currently very clear map was great. Very tasty in terms of taste. Unfortunately, one point has to be deducted because there was no option to "eat without glutamates", at least partially possibly and unfortunately there are no drink prices listed in the current menu (bit of a surprise and Coke 0.33 for EUR 4 is also at the upper end) You don't actually need the delicious dishes.

We ate a set meal on Easter Monday and it was just great. Mandarin is the best Asian restaurant in Hildesheim.

If anyone knows anything about meat, it's this kitchen. There were five of us and we had different meat and fish dishes and we were all very satisfied.

We had ordered a table for 4 people and despite the holiday we were able to kindly bring 2 more people with us at short notice. The staff was very pleasant, the 3 year old got the food first and the chairs are very comfortable. The food was nice and hot and we all enjoyed it very much. Thank you very much, we are already looking forward to the next time

My parents (and I) from Wuppertal were thrilled and then said to me that there is no restaurant in Wuppertal (3 1/2 times as big as Hildesheim!) with Chinese food of the quality of 'Mandarin'. We really enjoyed it, the service is GREAT! See you next time ! Lars Schmitt/ Christ Church

The first visit was definitely not the last. Service was very friendly and quick, as a greeting from the kitchen, chips with 3 delicate dips, the dish of my choice tasted very good! Extra wine list, interesting selection of dishes.

Compared to our visit 4 weeks ago, back then we would have given 5 stars for everything, this time there were a few things that were disappointing. Although it wasn't too crowded, we (6 people) waited a good 10 minutes for the tickets. Another 15 minutes until the order was taken and some time until the drinks arrived. Five of the dishes we ordered were good. The last No. 62 beef with onions came in a children's portion where I had to look for the meat. It went back immediately, after 15 minutes I was asked why and if I wanted more meat. After everyone else had finished, my dish arrived in the usual size and quality. It's a shame it ruined our evening. But since everyone has a second chance, we will come back.

Mandarin suggests being a Chinese restaurant. Waited over an hour for food, plates weren't preheated but hot on the bottom and cold on top...sounds like a microwave to me. Food served on a (!) plate that was quite full, no warming plate. Therefore, the crispy duck is totally limp, the vegetables are not crunchy but are cooked to death. Extra plates for portioning only on request, spices too. With spring roll (which was delicious) and drinks just under 35 euros. I don't want to say anything wrong, but fresh food from a wok tastes different. Zero risk of repetition!

We received a very friendly welcome and were served quickly and nicely. The food was tasty, but unfortunately it got cold pretty quickly.

Unfortunately we had to wait 15 minutes for our ordered table, which was a challenge with two small children at lunchtime. Then it took a very long time for the food to arrive, so unfortunately I had to leave after 1.5 hours when my main course was first served. Luckily the other family members had more time.... But again: With small children it definitely took too long, so unfortunately we have to think about getting together with the family again on Sundays.

The atmosphere is really nice. The aquarium completes it perfectly. Unfortunately, the waiters are not well trained. They don't manage to bring the plates to your place properly and when you ask for something small like chopsticks, you don't get them and you have to go back to the front and ask again because the waitress didn't want to bring them. (The restaurant had hardly any customers that evening, so it simply went under.) Furthermore, the spring rolls, wontons, samosas and all other dishes from the deep fryer were dark brown to almost black, so they were in there for far too long and the food came lukewarm to cold.

Had dinner there with colleagues. The food was very tasty and the portions were also very large. The map is a little confusing, but not so much that it would justify deducting a star. The service was quick. Would eat here again at any time.

Very tasty food. Beforehand, there was a small salad with nuts from the kitchen as a small greeting. Modern decor than other Chinese restaurants. A large aquarium in the middle of the room, there is always something to look at. Unfortunately it was very loud, I almost had to scream while talking. And the service could have asked for new drinks once or twice when the glasses were empty. But overall great, any time again.

Very good, high quality food and attentive service. There is a star deduction because of outrageously high drinks prices (for example 0.5 l wheat beer for 6 euros!). That really doesn't have to be the case. This discourages a next visit.

Simply GOOD all around. We are very enthusiastic about the creative card and the visually good implementation. The Mandarin stands out very clearly from the other Asians. We would love to come back.

We spontaneously ate here for the first time today and are thrilled; sometimes no buffet. After greetings from the kitchen, we were served No.85 and the duck menu. Both tasted excellent and the quantity was sufficient. We will be back.
