Not your typical, traditional Asian restaurant. Modern and atmospherically nice furnishings. Very friendly staff. Dim sum were tasty, but not as expected. More like filled balls. For 5 stars, some work would have to be done on the delicacy of the food, which is almost expected given the beautiful ambience. Good wine selection.

We ordered Peking duck. Peking duck must be ordered a day in advance. The food was very good. It's always an experience. We would like to thank you for the nice hours in the Mandarin.

We (4 people) had dinner on Wednesday, November 27th, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. - a table was pre-booked via the homepage. When we arrived there were only a few tables occupied due to the early hour. We were warmly greeted by the staff and shown to our table. Although the restaurant was hardly busy at the time, it took 15 minutes for the waiter to come with the menus and take our drink order. It then took another 20 minutes until we received the drinks. After we placed our food order, we had to wait for a very long time again - after 15 minutes, each person was given a “greeting from the kitchen” in the form of a samosa (which was very nice and tasty); Another 20 minutes later, the starters (chicken soup, samosas & spring rolls with a very tasty sweet/sour, slightly spicy dip were served warm (with large pieces of pineapple, bamboo); then we waited again for almost 30 minutes for the main courses (3x duck with Hennessy -chanterelle cream sauce, 1x duck with 8 treasures). The food overall was very good - everything was hot, really freshly prepared and very tasty. During our stay the restaurant filled up so that by the time we left around 8:30pm it was about 3/4 full - which I find very surprising for a wet and cold Wednesday evening in late November. This speaks for the quality of the food and the restaurant. The waiters were very unobtrusive, friendly, helpful (good advice on choosing food and drinks) and nice. It was a bit cold and drafty where we sat. When I asked the waiter about it, he immediately checked and adjusted the heating so that it became pleasantly warm shortly afterwards. Overall, it is a young team that runs a modern and contemporary Chinese restaurant - this is reflected not only in the menu and the arrangement of the plates, but also in the design and decoration of the guest rooms. Conclusion: The Mandarin is a modern Chinese restaurant where most of the dishes are really fresh and prepared a'la minute. The price/performance ratio is consistent and fairly calculated. You can spend a lovely evening there alone, as a couple or with a larger group - table reservations are recommended. The only negative was the long waiting times. We will definitely come back.

A nice and relaxing evening with good food.

The food tasted very good. We stuck with the traditional Chinese dishes offered, but the kitchen also offers other Asian dishes. Although the restaurant was almost full, there was a pleasant atmosphere and the service was very courteous. I can only recommend the Mandarin.

Friendly staff, food served quickly. With a normal portion, enough to really fill you up. Minimal deduction, due to the sauce on the plate, which was mild to spicy depending on the position on the plate. We would like to come back.

We were always very satisfied and enjoyed the food. Unfortunately, the quality has deteriorated a lot recently: the meat is mostly dry, the sauces are no longer so tasty, the sweet/sour sauce is just sweet, the wontons are too dark and therefore bitter. We'll give our favorite Chinese another chance in the evening and otherwise we'll probably have to look elsewhere.

How nice that the Chinese restaurant on Großer Saatner, which has been around for decades, is still family-owned. The portions are noticeably generous and very good value for money. We felt very comfortable and always enjoy coming here, even after moving to another city.

This was the second time we were there and the food was all very good. The food was delicious, the service was always attentive and even though it was busy it was pretty quick. There are many choices for dishes and drinks. We will come back.

As always, it was very good here at the Mandarin. We love coming here several times a year. The new menu has turned out very well. The food was, as always, very good. However, today I didn't like the fact that there were several dogs, including large ones, in the dining room. Anyone can have dogs, but you have to take them to the restaurant for 1-2 hours. I find it very unhygienic, for example when they shake out their fur. Maybe we could think about that.

Accidentally made a reservation at this restaurant and didn't regret it at all! There is a choice between large and small portions, which I was unsure about at first. Is big too much and small too little? Yes, big is a big portion but they pack the food for you without any problems. Super great service and the food was SOOO delicious! Will definitely come back!

I was there for the first time on Saturday. The staff was very friendly. I was probably unlucky because the cook was sick. The duck was fried until crispy, but unfortunately it wasn't seasoned. The sauce looked and tasted like brown water. It was all over my meal Not a crumb of salt or other seasoning. So I was disappointed with the food for the price.

Was very good. The price is on the higher end but it still fits. Very fresh vegetables good ingredients. It didn't look like much, but that's deceptive. We didn't even manage to get the rice. The offering is changing and new things are being tried out, so it's not a run-of-the-mill Asian restaurant. I found the drinks a bit overpriced. There was a little more going on than the service could manage in a timely manner. There was a greeting from the kitchen. All in all a positive experience.

We have been eating here relatively regularly on special occasions for over 10 years now and have never been disappointed! Service, quality of food and drinks and whether you sit inside or outside... top! Addendum from July 18, 2024.... Dear Mandarin team, tonight was absolute nonsense!!! And as you seem to have written more often recently: "You can do that (or you used to be able to do it) much better!!! After more than an hour and a half we drove back without eating our dinner and were extremely disappointed. Unfortunately you have lost us as guests!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Mandarin Restaurant and it was an outstanding experience! I was particularly impressed by the Peking duck, which was perfectly prepared and served. The skin was crispy, the meat tender and juicy – ​​simply a culinary delight. The service was equally excellent. The staff were very attentive, friendly and made sure we felt completely comfortable. The atmosphere in the restaurant is pleasant and welcoming, ideal for both a leisurely dinner and special occasions.

I have known the restaurant for over 25 years and always enjoy eating there. Really delicious and sometimes unusual Asian dishes with great service. There's still a bit of room for improvement in the ambience, but it's still 4 stars and if the food & service each have 5 stars and the ambience "only" 4, then it's still 5 stars overall. ;)

We certainly wouldn't have found/visited it without Google. From the outside it looks more like a normal house. Tasted good, but not as expected. The orange cream hardly tasted orange/fruity to me. The smoked tofu was very firm (which is how it should be according to the waitress). Unfortunately there were no summer rolls either. Otherwise, the ambience inside is chic, but quite loud. The price is a bit high, but there are lunch specials. Limited parking options.

Reservations in advance are mandatory as the restaurant is very busy. But you can also order everything to take away. Top! Addition: The service and food are still top. The prices have increased slightly from last time, but considering that even the small portion leaves you very full, the prices for the food are acceptable. The drinks, however, have become quite expensive. We will come back in any case. I still recommend reservations. 👍

We ordered from home and picked up the food. Unfortunately, after the starter we discovered that the rice was completely missing… Of course we called and complained. The service was then great!!! The forgotten rice was brought home to us and there was an apology. Honestly, there is no better way to react when a mistake has been made. We'd love to come back!!! :-) THANKS!

Restaurant in the residential area which is getting a bit old (entrance area and the carpet in the restaurant). I had the pork menu: pork in a crispy dough coating, which was very tough and stringy and also very raw, unfortunately hard to enjoy, a shame! Fried pork Sichuan style, spicy was still quite good. My wife had the chicken menu: chicken breast fillet in a crispy batter with sweet and sour sauce was good!!! / Crispy chicken breast with 8 delicacies which turned out a bit too dry, what a shame! Service is very nice and explains everything very nicely! I ordered a cola and I only received a 0.33 bottle without a glass. This was resolved by another service person waiting a little longer! A €10 discount was deducted from the total price on the invoice (without asking), a very good move by the company! But we would have preferred to pay full price for good food. Based on the reviews we thought it was a good choice of restaurant, I hope it was just like that for us!

Had a 2 person menu where the three main courses were served at the same time. Unfortunately without a warming plate or warmer. So the food got cold very quickly and was not 100% edible. A main course called spicy was advertised on the menu. Which unfortunately didn't even deserve the title slightly spicy. Ergo without any sharpness. Service staff was very friendly. We found it a bit inappropriate to be served in the restaurant by men in shorts.

We were there on Friday with 17 people and sat in a separate room. Great atmosphere, very tasty food and the service was great. We would like to come again.
