Disappointing Valentine's Day - Unfriendly service and uncomfortable placement We were really looking forward to our Valentine's Day visit to Malinas and reserved a table two weeks in advance. Unfortunately, our expectations were bitterly disappointed. When we arrived we were assigned a table right at the entrance even though the restaurant wasn't full. We politely asked if we could get the empty table right next to it instead, which was much more pleasantly located. The reaction of the waitress (with the red hair) was simply unprofessional and unfriendly. She rejected our request in a very dismissive and almost mocking way, without providing a plausible explanation, she just pointed her finger at the table with a grin and said “No, that one!” (2x). Due to this unacceptable treatment, we decided to leave the restaurant without even ordering the food. Unfortunately, our Valentine's Day evening was very marred by this. Conclusion: Friendly and courteous service is essential for a successful restaurant experience. Unfortunately we were disappointed at Malinas. I cannot recommend the restaurant based on our experience.

So the price is in the upper region. Dishes were ok but the price was too high. The waiter was super nice, the bartender wasn't. Currant spritzer without sparkling water, the bartender doesn't like complaints. Food was quite tasty, I wouldn't recommend lamb chops.

Top service and very tasty food, nice ambience and lots of space.

Very surprisingly, I was very happy with the evening. I didn't know the restaurant or the Polish cuisine before and was absolutely thrilled. The pierogi were absolutely amazing, the cheese sauce was great to add to it and I can highly recommend the Mojito as a non-alcoholic cocktail. The service was also very courteous, funny and relaxed. I'll definitely go again.

Had our Christmas party there for the second time and was more than satisfied both times. Really good food, large selection of drinks and all the staff were very friendly. Prices are not cheap but you are happy to pay for the quality. Dad overall package there is just right. Gladly again.

Yesterday, November 5th, 2024, I celebrated my birthday at Malinas Restaurant. We ordered a selection of different dishes, along with dessert and coffee. The food was good and the interior design of the restaurant gives a warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes the stay very pleasant. Unfortunately I have to say that the service was disappointing. The waitress wasn't very friendly and cleared the plates way too quickly, which made us feel like we were being rushed. Despite our extensive order - four dishes, desserts and coffee - we were also informed that we would have to pay a fee if we just cut the cake we had brought with us. In my opinion, guests should be treated with empathy and an open heart! :(

I stopped by this restaurant by chance and visited it without any prior information about Polish food. I ordered food based on the staff's recommendation and it was all quite delicious. This is a restaurant worth recommending!

Yesterday I was at Malinas for the first time in a long time and it was exactly as I remembered it: beautifully decorated, magical and attentive service, super delicious food. Nobody here doesn't get up from the table full and satisfied. I think the prices are reasonable for the portions. The only thing that deducts a point is that the volume is exhausting in the long run. We sat at the table in the middle of the green room and were treated to so much noise from all sides that it was almost unbearable at times. The restaurant is always full (and rightly so!). Otherwise a top recommendation.

A wonderful evening, delicious food. We received a very friendly welcome and were well looked after throughout the evening. We shared the large plate of mixed pierogis as a starter…absolutely delicious. Then we had the beef roulade and the pork chop. Everything was tastefully prepared and delicious. Unfortunately I can't write anything about the food, which is probably good, or the atmosphere there because we had to cancel the reservation for 10 people, the restaurant doesn't accept card payments at all, only cash! That's a real shame, I would try out good Polish cuisine more often. It's good that there are still alternatives.

We spontaneously reserved a table for two people. It's really well attended, so you should definitely request more people beforehand. Service friendly and quick. After 10 minutes we had all the food on the table. Food was very tasty, if we were from the area we would definitely come more often! Unfortunately, public paid parking spaces around the restaurant are difficult to come by.

Excellent food. Staff is typically German. There are no English menus and the staff don't speak English so use your Google translate. The menu is extensive and has exceptional perogies. The restaurant doesn't take credit cards, so bring cash. Parking is difficult.

The first time for me and also when it comes to Polish cuisine. I have to say I was blown away. From the starters to the main course and dessert, everything is made with love and by hand. One of the best restaurants ever if you want to eat fresh and culinary dishes. Just wow!!! The Perogis are amazing

Feeling welcome is something else...

I actually really enjoy going to Malinas because it offers a cuisine that I don't know anywhere else in the area. Especially in summer, the salads are fresh and lush, but at the same time very filling thanks to the pierogis. Malinas is super reliable: the same quality for years, always the precisely counted pieces of bread with one of two dips (depending on the season). The service staff is also stable and, depending on the mood of the day, is sometimes more or less charming. If you ask Malinas for special requests (e.g. because you don't like a type of pierogi or want to swap the dressing), it's never really well received... they do it, but with gritted teeth. That's what I mean by a positive attitude, because Malinas can rely on that too ;) It's good that you exist!

Delicious authentic Silesian-Polish cuisine!

We had a lovely, delicious dinner on the sunny terrace. The food was visually beautifully presented and the homemade pierogi were delicious, I took a few to take home with me. Definitely a recommendation if you are traveling in Düsseldorf.

The "Piroggeria" offers a large selection of dishes, most of which include pierogies. These really only taste like the ingredients and are not overly seasoned. A portion of lunch salad with 3 pierogies is filling, but that's what you expect for €13.90. We would have liked the service to be a little warmer. The room is quite dark, but cozy. In summer you can sit outside at numerous tables.

I don't understand the good reviews and 4.4 *. I've been there three times now. The service is unfriendly, inattentive (were we ignored?) and harsh. Missing drinks will still be charged. Only card payment is possible, which also offers plenty of opportunity for speculation - you know?! The shop isn't tiny. The salads are delicious but grossly overpriced, therefore only 3*. Price-performance is simply not right. We live in the area but don't go there anymore. Friends and neighbors confirm exactly this opinion.

Wonderful polish restaurant with fantastic food, great drinks and an overall enjoyable vibe. The meals had very nice portions which made all of us happy. Only negative thing is the fact that you can only pay by cash, I hope they will accept card payments soon.

Malinas is a cozy restaurant serving Polish cuisine. The service is super nice and the dishes are very tasty. The Pieroggis Mama Danuta and the great salads (with different pieroggis or with gratinated goat cheese) are my favorites, but so far everything has tasted very good, whether vegetarian or not. In the evening you should definitely make a reservation. We often go there at lunchtime and have had no problems getting a seat, even though Malinas is very busy at lunchtime. I always enjoy coming there.

Reply to your answer: Constructive criticism represents an opportunity for improvement. Unfortunately, you really didn't take advantage of it: there was no mention of free food here (we paid EUR 110, with a tip of EUR 5.6 included). According to gastro etiquette, an employee/temp chewing gum is definitely a no-go. We don't want to have to judge or smell your employee's breath; a smile and a simple happy birthday would have been enough. Courtesy, politeness and at least an occasion-related niceness would have been a justification for perhaps coming back, but the lack of talent in direct customer contact unfortunately remains an obstacle here at your company. The food was okay but the service was subpar. The older lady with her pink pants chewed chewing gum the whole time, was completely uninterested in the customer and the announcement that we wanted to celebrate a birthday here was something we could have given ourselves: we definitely won't be coming back. We expect much more from service. It's a shame, because we are very well connected in the Polish community. The seats outside are uncomfortable: wooden class.

The restaurant impresses with its beautiful interior. About the dishes: - Cold bowl, very good - Żurek, not sour enough, definitely thickened with flour - almost lumpy. Marjoram is missing. - Bigos, way too sweet, you can't taste any caraway seeds, there was no character in the dish. Someone probably washed the sauerkraut for too long until the taste was gone - Pierogi, which are fried in oil, should at least be fried in butter if not lard. - Pierogi with onions, potatoes and cheese: hardly tasted, there is no marjoram. That is the basis. - If Polish cuisine, classics should also be offered, such as sauerkraut and mushroom filling. - The starter plate was quite good, but even there I missed elements that define Polish cuisine: for example smoked ham or sausage - The bread we got was at least from yesterday. - I don't understand just offering Tyskie as a Polish beer. In Poland you always have at least Żywiec on offer. Conclusion: Someone who doesn't understand Polish cuisine works in the kitchen. Polish cuisine uses spices, is rich in flavor and has character. This is a cuisine that is cooked at home, by everyone. There's love in there. Unfortunately not in Malinas. It's not an authentic Polish restaurant. The restaurant wants to incorporate elements of Polish cuisine, but cannot interpret them in an interesting way. Wouldn't call it a Polish restaurant. Fusion at its best, but not in a positive sense. A pity!

The food was quick and tasty, you should make a reservation. We were there 10 minutes after opening without a reservation and it was already close. Speaks for the store! We'd love to come back :) Parking can sometimes be difficult and take some time.

Had dinner there yesterday with our friends. The reception was a bit reserved and not particularly helpful. My girlfriend is in a wheelchair and the entrance has steps that had to be overcome. The gentleman at the counter just watched and didn't offer any help. You wish it were different. We can certainly still work on the friendliness factor. Now to the food, it was very good. We had Zurek, Bigos, salad with minute steaks and various pirogues. I can only recommend. So in terms of food I give it a good 4 stars, the service only gets 3 stars. There is still room for improvement.

I like Malinas because of its Polish and Eastern European cuisine, although it also offers vegetarian and vegan dishes. The large portions and the really enjoyable food are to be praised. The atmosphere is familiar and cozy and the service was very nice and hardworking. Conclusion: The food really exceeded my expectations. Very tasty food, deliciously prepared Polish specialties, top service at the table, delicious beer (Pilsener Urquell)… in short everything was great! Prices are absolutely right for the quality! Malinas Restaurant is a place inspired by Polish cuisine. Inspired, because although the food is tasty, the menu includes real variations on Polish cuisine and beyond (e.g. salad with dumplings or curry-mango chicken). The dumplings, speaking of them, were tasty, but quite monothematic, the dough itself was very thick. The service leaves much to be desired. The lady who served us was rude, when we informed her that we did not speak German, she said dismissively that she did not speak English either. She served us with a clear grimace on her face throughout the entire evening. Finally, there was a problem with payment, the dinner was organized by the company and it was agreed with the restaurant that an invoice would be issued. Once there, the waitress brought us a bill to pay now. Only after talking to the manager, the invoice was settled in accordance with the previous agreement, but it was an inconvenience.

I like Malina's. The pierogi are delicious and I love their chunky fries. The sauces that go with it are also great and the ambience is somewhere between ommry and clean, making the shop cozy and nostalgic, but not too plush or overstuffed (although a little eye-catcher somewhere in the back room would be nice). The service is friendly and attentive and the food went really quickly. It definitely wasn't there for the last time.

Update: Card payments will still not be possible in 2024. You're probably not serious! Attention: No card payment, therefore 2 stars deducted. The food is delicious and the service - at least around the food - was great and very nice. I can't say whether this is typically Polish, but there's pieroggi, borscht and bigosz, so you should get your money's worth. Overall it was very tasty and the dessert was amazing. BUT: The restaurant does not offer card payment and therefore forces its customers to walk 400m to the ATM at night in the rain. Succinct answer: The nearest one is in a gas station - dude, really? It's 2020, that's not possible. The cash register system is a modern, tablet-based cash register - so that's not the problem. Here the owner wants to save 20 cents in fees. It doesn't work at all. So if you eat here, take cash with you or avoid the restaurant until they modernize their payment methods.

The food was very tasty. It was difficult to find a parking space. And unfortunately it was very loud in the restaurant. But there were also many guests there.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated. Unfortunately there is a bit of a lack of insulation as the acoustics seemed very loud even with slight movement. The portions are intended for medium hunger as they were quite small. (Hänchwn curry and 2 roulades) All in all, it's pretty authentic.
