New experience for me . I recently visited Malabar in Aachen with my girlfriend for an early dinner. It was my first time there and I was intrigued by the unique dining experience. My friend explained that we should take a bowl and choose our own ingredients. After selecting our favourite ingredients, we went to the counter where we specified our desired spice level and chose between traditional chicken broth or another option. At the end, they weighed up our choices, including the ingredients and spices we had chosen, and we paid on that basis I was pleasantly surprised and delighted by this process. The atmosphere at Malabar was warm and welcoming and the food was incredibly tasty. Overall, it was a delightful experience that combined a fun, interactive element with delicious food.

Very tasty Chinese soups for which you can put together the ingredients yourself from a refrigerated shelf. Great idea! The bowls for the ingredients are huge - be careful! Don't overfill it, otherwise it will be expensive (100g costs €3). Very nice: in addition to the meat broth, there is also a good vegan version; with different 'flavors' (green pepper, sauerkraut, etc) it costs €1 more. Since the minimum quantity is 300g, after weighing you end up with at least 9 - 10 €, which is appropriate for the quality.

For a 5-star rating on Google you will receive a voucher in the store. I haven't tested it, but it says so on a display in the store, which I took a photo of. You're not serious, are you? Embarrassing and absolutely underground. It shows how convinced you are of your own products if you have to buy such obvious reviews. Sad for you. Conclusion: stay away

The food is very tasty, the service is very nice, everything is very clean. Only the music is very annoying, they only play weird KPOP songs with some computer sounds, which is very distracting and illogical for a Chinese restaurant. Not all of them are Gen Z teenagers with a Korean fetish, some come because the food is delicious :) Maybe a mix for a change

Food is nice, first time here I took light spicy food. Not too spicy for my asian tongue :D second time took the very spicy soup. A lot of condiments available that you can add to your soup. You can get seat easily as well, no waiting time.

Everything tastes delicious and I found all the staff to be super friendly and personable. Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio is relatively expensive compared to other restaurants that have similar concepts.

Maybe we were unlucky, but our experience here wasn’t that great. The food is ok, but not amazing. Found two hairs in my food, which cut my appetite and couldn’t eat anymore. For me, hygiene in restaurants is very important. I liked the concept, that you can choose what you put in your soup, and the ingredients seemed fresh, but unfortunately, i wouldn’t return

Very tasty and varied frames because you can put them together yourself. It is probably relatively expensive and you have to know a bit about seasoning in order to optimize the taste with the spices provided.

The food is super delicious and you can put together something from lots of great things. The ambience is also quite nice. I'm here with my girls almost every week!

The atmosphere is very nice, the staff is very friendly. The food was delicious, I had it slightly spicy, which was still extremely spicy (and I can actually tolerate spicy :) that made eating a little difficult for me, but overall it was a good idea and I will definitely eat it again. The price is also totally acceptable, the portions are very generous, the noodles are prepared in-house and are extremely filling. I'm looking forward to next time

Ladies and Gentlemen As an officially self-nominated restaurant critic, I have already tested several McDonald's fast food chains in my career, as can be seen from the excess weight in my profile picture. For a long time my favorite burger was the Big Tasty Bacon but when I had Mala at Malabar I have to say that I like Mala better. I hope that through my newfound addiction to eating mala, which also ended my Big Tasty Bacon addiction, I will finally be able to get my massive overweight under control by eating healthier foods.

The soup is very flavorful. Spacious place and friendly staff. Overall a recommended experience!

Before the meal: We were in the Malabar today and were a bit shocked at the price. We paid €40 for 2 dishes without drinks. You have to expect to pay at least €9 per dish, as you have to use at least 300 g and pay €3 per 100 g. The ambience needs improvement and the price is quite expensive for a soup. The table wasn't clean and it looked more like a canteen. After eating: Overall, the portions were very large and we really enjoyed it. We were able to take the leftover soup with us. Vegan preparation was no problem and there are specially designated ingredients. For us it could have been less greasy. Conclusion: Even if you know from the reviews that you're quickly spending more than you want, it quickly becomes quite expensive without even realizing it. One of our dishes cost €27 which was really too much for it. We really liked the taste and individuality.

Absolute favourite restaurant in Aachen.

Im ersten Schritt gibt es nur Barzahlung bei einer Mindestmenge, die man nehmen muss. Im zweiten Schritt muss man sich unter hygienisch bedenklichen Methoden seine Zutaten herauspicken. Dritter Schritt ist sich an einen äußerst klebrigen Tisch zu setzten. Im vierten Schritt hat das Essen durchschnittlich okay geschmeckt. Der fünfte Schritt kam später mit Bauchschmerzen. Nicht nur bei mir sondern bei meiner Begleitung.

Woaaah, soo guuutes Essen hab ich schon lang nicht mehr gegessen! Kann ich nur empfehlen :)

Interessantes Konzept. „Bau Dir deine eigene Suppe“. Das schmeckt auch ganz gut und ist mal was anderes. Service und Ambiente ist aber eher nicht da - Preislich auch nicht günstig. Kann man aber mal machen und ist auch vollkommen in Ordnung. Tip… Lieber eine Stufe weniger scharf und selbst nachwürzen.

Leckere Suppen zum fairen Preis.

Hervorzuheben sind die marinierte Rindersehne und die marinierte Rinderzunge. Beide sind sehr gut. Achten Sie darauf, große Rinderzungenscheiben zu wählen. Es gibt vier verschiedene Geschmacksrichtungen für die Suppenbasis, jede mit ihren eigenen Merkmalen, aber alle sehr schmackhaft. Fügen Sie nach dem Essen etwas gehackte Frühlingszwiebel und Koriander hinzu, um den Geschmack der Suppe zu verbessern und sie authentischer zu machen.

Es war sehr lecker, große Auswahl, die Brühe ist sehr lecker und die wartezeit ist kurz. Ich kann es nur weiter empfehlen, vorallem für den Preis.

Super leckere Suppen, die man sich selbst zusammenstellen kann. Ich lebe vegan und auch hier hat man genug Auswahlmöglichkeiten. Schön wäre es , wenn man die veganen gut vom Fleisch/ Fisch trennen könnte und seperaten Zangen hat, da dies mich tatsächlich immer sehr anekelt.

Echt super. Ich war jetzt schon ein paar mal mit meiner Freundin dort, und werde auf jeden fall nochmal kommen. Das Prinzip ist sehr einfach und besonders. Man nimmt sich mit einer Schale alles was man in seine Suppe haben möchte. Der Preis hängt vom Gewicht ab. Aus eigener Erfahrung neigt man oft dazu zu viel zu nehmen, vorallem bei den Nudeln. 500g-600g reichen meist für ein Abendessen. Als nächstes muss man sich noch aus 5 möglichen Suppen eine aussuchen(Pilz (sehr zu empfehlen), Pfeffer, Tomaten, Sauerkraut, vegan). Als nächstes wählt man noch einen Schärfegrad (Achtung Scharf! Ich esser gerne Scharf und bin es gewohnt, aber mittlere Schärfe war zu viel, ich nehme immer leicht Scharf). Wenn eure Suppe zubereitet ist, nicht vergessen noch zu toppen. An einem kleinen Buffet könnt ihr die Suppe noch schärfer machen, oder mit erdnusssoße die Suppe etwas milder machen. Es gibt dort auch noch anderes zum toppen. Meine Erfahrungen hier sind durchweg positiv. Einziges Manko: ACHTUNG KEINE KARTENZAHLUNG. Ich verstehe nicht warum Restaurants im 21. Jahrhundert noch keine Kartenzahlung haben.

Macht richtig Spaß hier zu essen und wer Scharfe mag hat auch hier sehr viel geboten!

Easily a favourite. Always coming back every once in a while. Tasty broth, great toppings selection. Very spicy though, so better choose nicht scharf or leicht scharf and adjust it yourself. Also be mindful when filling your bowl, its very easy to put more than you can actually eat.

Sehr leckere Brühen! Das Lokal ist gut zu erreichen und es sind genügend Plätze vorhanden. Das Konzept ist recht easy: man hat eine Bowl, stellt sich seinen Bowl selbst zusammen mit Zutaten aus den Kühlfächern (3€ je 100gr, wobei Minimum 300gr ist) und wählt aus der Brühe. Toppings gibts umsonst. Das war bis jetzt die beste Malatang Erfahrung, die Brühe war sehr aromatisch und lecker!

Eigentlich mein Go-To-Laden und das Essen ist immer sehr gut. Ich würde mir eine striktere Trennung zwischen Fleisch und vegetarischem wünschen, manchmal finden sich Fleischstückchen zb in den Rice cakes. Leider ist die Brühe auch nicht mehr ganz so lecker wie früher und die Preise sind mittlerweile astronomisch. Trotzdem immer einen Besuch wert. Keine Kartenzahlung anzubieten ist mir auch unverständlich.

Als ausgebildeter Restaurantkritiker habe ich bereits eine Vielzahl an Restaurants getestet. Darunter auch einige Restaurants der chinesischen Küche. Schon beim Betreten der Räumlichkeiten wurde ich von der Auswahl an frischen Zutaten für die Mala Suppe überwältigt. Als ich dachte es kann nicht mehr besser werden, befand ich mich gerade auf dem Weg zur Toilette wo ich das Weihnachtstoilettenpapier erblickte. Nachdem ich ganze 2 Rollen Klopapier "vernichtete" kam ich wieder zu Tisch, wo bereits die Dampfende Suppe auf mich wartete. Die Suppe war sehr lecker, genauso, wie der bubble tea, den ich bestellte. Und obwohl die Hälfte der Suppe auf meine Weißen Klamotten verkleckert hatte, schmeckte sie so gut, als wäre es eine Ganze gewesen. Ich verbrachte danach noch den ganzen Abend bei meinem Freund der Müller und war wunschlos glücklich. Hier ist noch ein Bild vom Klopapier:

Sehr leckeres Nudelnsuppe. Man kann Zutaten selbst auswählen. Pay as you eat, gute Konzept. Hähnchenhaut finde ich auch lecker.
