Maier’s Burgwirtschaft in Bad Füssing

We've been coming to Bad Füssing for three weeks every year since 2004. We go here every evening for dinner and drinks. A great beer garden and super-friendly staff. And this year (2025) the spare ribs are especially tender.

If you like canteen food, this is the place for you. = Disaster! Only self-service for food and drinks.

It was our first time there, and therefore also our last. The food was quite okay; we had schnitzel and cordon bleu, which were freshly made. The other dishes looked like they'd been sitting in the warm water since the morning. The staff: If someone is there for the first time, they could politely explain how everything is done. But they can also be unfriendly and condescending...

Yes...very nice, good entertainment

Huge beer garden, large restaurant... Not a showcase for Bavarian cuisine... everything is overcooked, overcooked, and placed very unappealingly at the self-service counter! The prices are excessive considering the quality. For example, half a chicken without a side dish costs 12.95... undercooked and the taste is questionable. The advertised grilled fish is already sold out... Absolutely not recommended!!!!

Maier's Burgwirtschaft in Füssing! A true masterpiece of Bavarian gastronomy, best enjoyed with a smile... So, 5 stars! Absolutely! Because where else can you experience the rustic ambience in such a concentrated form? Let's start with the beer garden. A dream! With old chestnut trees so old you'd almost expect them to tell a story. They provide shade so dense you almost forget the sun is even shining. A true treat for the skin... and for the soul, which can wonderfully relax here in the "rustic" atmosphere. And then the dance music! Various solo entertainers who set the mood with their instruments and singing skills... or at least try to. The music is so diverse that there's something for every taste... as long as your taste includes Schlager, folk music, and polka. So you can storm the dance floor, although it only counts as such with sufficient goodwill. But hey, that's what makes it so charming, right? Self-service! Yes, you read that right! Here, you get your food and drinks yourself. A true celebration of independence! You can choose the dishes you want and then carry them to your table without being bothered by annoying waiters. And the best part: There's a clearing service! So all you have to do is get the food and drinks yourself; the team will do the rest! A true luxury! The interior! A true architectural masterpiece! Bridges with water flowing beneath them, a roof structure so solid it can withstand any storm, and a rustic ambience you won't soon forget. You feel like you're in an old castle... only with better food. So, in short: Maiers Burgwirtschaft is an experience you shouldn't miss. A place where Bavarian tradition is upheld, where the music never stops, and where the good mood never ends. 5 stars! (For the self-service, the rustic ambiance, and the unforgettable dance evenings...).

Beautiful ambiance, the most beautiful beer garden in Bad Füssing, with live music daily. (Free entry!) Everything is self-service, with food, drinks, and a bar. A great selection of food. Roast pork (€13.90) is fantastic! We'd love to go again!

The roast pork was old and overcooked. The red cabbage on the counter was dried out; everything looked unappetizing. This was the second time. Never again.

Half the chicken was overcooked, but otherwise there's something for everyone in the self-service area.

A rustic, fun-filled restaurant with a fantastic Bavarian beer garden. Very reasonably priced lunch menu with comparably excellent self-service cuisine. Everything from hot meals to tasty snacks is available. The staff is friendly and does their best. And if some of the responses aren't as expected, then some people might wonder how they shouted into the forest. And when the live music starts playing, and you can even dance to it, it's hearty and cozy, and the atmosphere should captivate even the most reluctant (holiday) guests; otherwise, you're better off staying home. We always love coming here to eat, drink, observe, smile, laugh, and dance.

Good Bavarian specialties, good value for money

We found the place by chance. It looked very inviting from the outside, but we could hear blaring pop music from inside, and we debated whether or not to go in. We then decided to go in and were immediately impressed by the ambiance and the overall decor. Unfortunately, the music got louder the further we went inside, and when we saw that it was self-service, we immediately turned around and left the restaurant (sadly).

I was finally able to listen to music again with my good friend after many years. Everyone was friendly, beautifully decorated. We didn't eat, so no review. I went back two days later. The meat in the display cases under the heat lamps looked terribly dried out. My friend said the other food was very good; she doesn't eat meat. I highly recommend this dance club. Friendly staff

The lunch menu advertised everywhere on posters for €9.90 is hastily and carelessly thrown onto your plate at the hot counter when you pick it up yourself. Quantity over quality counts here! It could be presented much better for the eye, which would make it taste better. Moreover, it's only lukewarm because it's been kept warm under a lamp for hours! I really can't recommend it! The taste was mediocre. We don't need to repeat this! Any butcher's has a cheaper, higher-quality lunch menu! If you want to dance the night away, you're in good hands; if you want something delicious, you'll find much, much better options nearby!

Relatively good food. The fish wasn't that good because there was too much breading (not enough fish). The order was for baked fish. The tables in the beer garden aren't wiped down, so the leftovers from previous guests remain visible throughout the evening. (Plates and glasses are cleared away.) Customer service is still in its infancy. The place is doing well, partly with good reason. Yes, the staff costs are not low, But the guest should be king here, too, not just the one who brings in the money.

The pork knuckle at the self-service counter is unique. Very crispy and crunchy, yet still juicy. We always enjoy having guests there.

I was there for a dance evening (live band) – the food was delicious. I had a great time dancing.

We came especially for Sound Express. I booked a hotel specifically for that. But it was changed again. This is the second time it's happened to us. Now we have to go to Haslinger Hof. THIS IS NOT WORKING. We went to the chimney sweep. I'm definitely not going there again. How arrogant. After all, he's on TV. Yeah, please, what kind of TV, where probably nobody knows. Always boring. He doesn't even accept music requests. There are better musicians. Sound Express or SAM, you can at least talk to them.

We spent one night here. It was very quiet. The restaurant was a beautiful sight from the inside. But after waiting half an hour for a server, we learned that it was self-service. The food was the highlight of this visit. Friendliness isn't a priority here. The taste was also completely off. We won't be back.🥲

Definitely nice beer garden, food very good. Staff very friendly... Only at the Ra.nde dance hall there is too much of an older audience, which is OK, but a dance evening for younger people aged 40+ single would be desirable. Unfortunately the dance hall is not suitable for younger singles 40+.

Were there for a visit. There was also a meal menu but what was on it wasn't there. It's really weak. So when ordering at the self-service counter you quickly had to think of something else. Otherwise you had to queue again. Something like that shouldn't happen. So we won't be going there again. The Leberkäs was dry and quite clear. My food was rather tasteless and the mushrooms in the mushroom sauce were counted out. But the price is high. Not recommended.

Nice beer garden with light music for dancing for the older people. Nicely done. Unfortunately, the food didn't convince us. 20 € for a char plug fish that is not weighed. This is handled differently at home. The taste was OK, but the portion didn't fill you up.

The ambience is clockish, but everything else, well. I knew that the beer garden was self-service. But also in the restaurant? I came back from a long walking tour and was looking forward to a nice sausage salad and a hearty beer. So I went straight to the restaurant to be served. A single guest sat in the huge room and drank beer. I sat down at a table and studied the menu. Unfortunately, behind the tap was the young lady who I had already noticed negatively when visiting the beer garden. She was probably on the phone with a family member. After about 15 minutes she hung up, looked over at me and said flippantly, "In case you didn't know, this is self-service." To be honest, I had imagined something different about an inn. In a tavern you are usually “catered to”! And if the "self-service shop" has the same prices as a service restaurant, then I'd rather go somewhere else.

Music on Sunday evenings and Monday evenings (Steirer Hans) is not recommended. Sorry, that doesn't work at all.

Well, Burgwirtschaft,... I don't expect top quality anyway... I had pork medallion (there was only one) with a white cream sauce and fried potatoes,... yes, and some of them were still raw!!! 😰 A really small salad with unpeeled cucumbers and coleslaw with caraway seeds

A hearty restaurant with home-style cuisine in a pleasant atmosphere. Anyone who likes dancing is in good hands here. There was live music playing during our evening. The dance floor could quickly become too small.

Ideal for dance evenings of all ages. Live music 3 or 4 times a week. Well, self-service eating wasn't really my thing. I think it can definitely be done better. As far as the ambience is concerned, it's a really cool location and I'll give it 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 extra.👌👌👌

A really beautiful chestnut beer garden with very reasonable prices, especially the cheese or snack board are brilliant. Dancing with live music every day, outside or inside in a cozy bar. With a motorhome you can stay overnight safely and quietly in the large, level parking lot for little money. Thanks to the operators and employees for the well-run “castle”.

Wir haben eine Geburtstagparty am 14.12.24 mit Familie und Freunden gefeiert. Das Essen und die Bedienung war hervorragend. Ich kann mich bei der Fam. Meier und bei der Karin an der Bar für das gelungene Fest herzlich bedanken.

So I have to say that the food has gotten worse, and the people at the tavern are trying hard to play the music, whether it's Hannes, Tom, or Sound Expres, the only bright spot during my stay was Uwe Fürst's perfect voice and pleasant volume and fulfilled every wish if he can. Harry the Chimney Sweep was good, but as always, way too loud. So to plan my next stay, when is Uwe Fürst playing again?

The restaurant makes a great impression and I really liked it. The live music, although not to my taste, also created a good atmosphere. The self-service here was unusual, but ok. What wasn't ok was that the lady at the bar preferred flirting with old men rather than serving the guests. The women in front of me were also very annoyed about it. But what's not possible is that there's nothing to eat after 8:30 p.m. This is a reason for me to avoid the restaurant in the future.

Very nice restaurant with great indoor and outdoor areas. If you like large portions, this is the place for you. In terms of taste, everything is at the standard level. If you want something special, you've come to the wrong place.

Unfortunately I can't recommend the food. We had currywurst, the sausage was fried for far too long and the sauce was too salty. Fried potatoes were cold and greasy. Unfortunately the price/performance ratio is not right here.

Das Essen ist nicht zu empfehlen, es ist kalt und fast nicht gewürzt, schmeckt fade und die Portionen sind doch sehr klein geworden, auch bei den Beilagen. Es sieht so aus, als wenn die Speisen, vor allem das Fleisch stundenlang evtl. Sogar tagelang da drin liegen. Ab und zu wird ungerührt der ganze „ Brei“, damit es etwas frischer aussieht.

We always enjoy visiting the Burgwirtschaft during our stays. However, friendliness and quality decrease significantly. If e.g. For example, if there is an addition on the menu such as "with fig mustard" (on the cheese plate), you should point out to the guest when ordering that this is out. (Then I would at least have had the opportunity to choose something else from the extensive menu). The order was taken silently and it was only when I started eating that I noticed the absence of the fig mustard. At the buffet I got the answer: "It's out - unfortunately I can't offer you anything else." It's a shame, I didn't find it very accommodating. Otherwise it is entertaining with the charm of an outdated beer garden.

We were allowed to spend the night here with the motorhome. We slept great. The center is within walking distance. Everyone was super friendly. Food was great. 15 euro parking space fee, but you get an 8 euro consumption voucher - absolutely fine. We'd love to come back.

The food was terribly bad. Meatloaf too salty and with a crust that is too thick. The potatoes in the potato salad are still half raw. The linoleum dance floor was dull. Gone quickly.

Very unfriendly, I'll never go there again when I pay 5€40 for a beer. The person gives me 5€ notes, 3 10cents and 2 5cents for a €10,000 and 5 cents and 10 cents, claiming that it's not a rubbish bin.

As I entered, there was a saying on the right-hand side, which unfortunately I can't quite reproduce now, but it says that you should smile to get a smile back, something like that. Unfortunately this is not possible if you are ignored by the staff. The interior of the restaurant is very nice. Self-service is all well and good, but personally I wouldn't have been able to take my food outside. Other than that, I felt like I was in a fast food restaurant. The meat on display looked like it was from the day before. The prices were disproportionate because you had to get the food yourself. It's a shame, I was looking forward to a meal in the Burgwirtschaft. But after all these impressions we preferred to eat somewhere else.

After a visit to the thermal baths, we stopped at the castle restaurant with a tour group. The food in the display case looked very unappetizing. The roast pork wasn't good and the counter staff were stressed at self-service.
