I have visited this restaurant twice within 4 months. I didn’t write this review on my first visit as I wanted to give benefit of doubt. So in our two visits, ordering masala dosa, mysore dosa, uttapam and Parottha, I felt overall food taste is average, Sambhar felt like just warm water, Dosa contains just boiled potatoes, missing core spices and Salt. All items are overpriced and apparently restaurant is also saving by using almost no Salt and Spices. Only things we liked were Cola and Lassi. Suggestion to the restaurant- Price is not a problem, you may charge 2,4 euros here and there, but at least provide taste.

The food tastes too good.Mini idlis are my favourite.

1. Friendly Staff, Nice Atmosphere 2. Prices Considerably High Unfortunately, the prices were noticeably higher than expected, which slightly dampened the experience. For the quality and portion size, I found the prices a bit unjustified. 3. Good Taste but Small Portions The food tasted great, especially the vadas. However, the portion of sambar was disappointing. You have to eat frugally to make the sambar last for two vadas. It felt like the portioning and balance weren’t well thought out. 4. Overall Overall, a pleasant experience with a few drawbacks. It’s worth a visit for the authentic South Indian food, but be prepared for smaller portions or to request extra!

Great food with combo options. Coffee was excellent - given in a traditional cup. One of the very few Indian restaurants in Germany that allow dogs. Definitely recommend!

A visit here is an absolute must for anyone who loves vegetarian dishes. The dishes are very delicious, full of flavors and spices, very filling and healthy. That was our first but definitely not our last visit. The advice on choosing dishes as a newcomer was great.

I enjoyed the food very much. Because I have no contact with Indian cuisine, I was able to get to know a lot of new things today. So many great dishes, so many (new to me) spices and flavors - just great! In general the atmosphere was extremely pleasant and relaxing

We had Onam sadya here a while ago and it was very authentic and delicious. Also had tasty masala dosa, idli sambhar and mango lassi on our other visits to this restaurant. If you like south indian vegetarian food, then this restaurant is a must visit. Tip: Make sure to reserve your table before going.

Authentische Süd Indische Essen. I will recommend only Idli, Vada and Dosa. All other items they are Not Profi. Very small place and more on their Heart is even smaller when you ask anything. Serving time is more due to Preparation but they should optimize IT.

Food is not worth the money and travel time. 40mins of travel is for nothing.

Friendly staff, nice restaurant with outside seating in the summer. The dosas are great and authentic. I can not recommend them enough! You rarely see them in Germany

It was very tasty and the employees were very nice and friendly. Typical South Indian food. In Germany there is usually only the North Indian restaurant but everyone has to try it. But reserve earlier 100% Recommended!!!

It tastes incredibly fresh, like real mangoes were used, rather than packaged pulp. Recommended dishes: Idly Vada Sambar, South Indian Thali. The food was okay. I was disappointed that it was not served hot. The service is very slow. I person to take the order, attend calls, billing, and service and settling down customers during peak rush hour is a bit much.

After a long time, went to this restaurant today for Onam sadhya . It was really an amazing feast. The dishes were so authentique especially the milk payasam, which tasted exactly like we get in Guruvayur temple in India. Although it is a limited meal, the restaurant people were flexible to an extent to serve some dishes multiple times. Although price fixed for the meal is somewhat on the higher side, for me it is worthy to spend once in a while for this kinda traditional authentique meal and for these many dishes, which we don’t get in other Indian restaurants in Germany. Also, if you are on time according to your slot , you will feel that these kinda Sunday brunch is properly organised.

We ordered food for a house party of 30 people, and everything arrived neatly packed, complete with proper utensils and a food warmer. The food was incredibly tasty and delicious, with more than enough quantity for everyone. Our guests loved the flavors and even expressed interest in visiting the restaurant themselves next time. If you're in the Stuttgart area, this restaurant is a must-try. The prices are also quite reasonable compared to other restaurants in the area.

**if you are an hungry south indian and looking for good sized meal to satiate your hunger i would suggest to look else where** I recently visited Copper bowl with 5of my friends …and was unfortunately disappointed with the portion sizes. While the quality of the food was good, For the price, I expected a more generous serving, but what I received felt more like an appetizer than a main course. The flavors were enjoyable, and the service was friendly, but the small portions made the overall experience less satisfying. It felt like the restaurant was cutting corners in terms of quantity, which is disappointing given the cost. We ordered meal with… dosa, idli, wada and pakoda… they havent even given atleast two full spoons of chutney considering the items … when asked for the extra chutney… we were informed that we will have to order again from the menu… We again ordered two chutneys, and my friend wants to cancel one chutney… for which they denied saying once it is ordered they cannot cancel it citing the tax constraints.. we could understand if the dish had to be prepared and we cant cancel… here we are just talking about chutney which is pre made..a picture is worth a thousand words… just attaching a picture of sambar bucket.. how they are trying to cut corners to fool the customers in terms of quantity. The bucket is of the height of the spoon but the inside depth of the bucket is of spoons head. The quantity of rice in the rice meal is also pretty small. My female friend had to order one more bowl of rice.

I had one Mysore masala dosa and it was delicious 😋 If you are in this cute City and looking for Indian food, you must come here (especially dosa, idli, medhu vada,)

It's a lovely place for great South Indian food. If I lived in Esslingen, I would visit them at least twice a week 😀.

The finest South Indian Restaurant in Germany!

We were warmly welcomed. The atmosphere is very pleasant and cozy. The decor is so nice. We were shown photos of the dishes and explanations, and time was taken for this. And then the food came...it all went smoothly, we were pleasantly surprised at what we were served. The food is delicious!!! The fresh juices are made with care and taste delicious. The service was very friendly and helpful. If you are in Esselingen, the Copper Bowl is highly recommended!

Authentic Indian cuisine with a well-tolerated spiciness. I value this restaurant as a highlight for special occasions. Eating satisfies hunger and satisfies the appetite at the same time. Delicious!

Very tasty and mouth watering food. To me the only thing upset me that the quantity was a bit less according to the price. But I must say they did not do any compromise regarding the taste.

We had a great experience at Copperbowl during the name reveal ceremony of our daughter. We had opted for a Kerala Sadhya with 3 gravy items (Parippu curry, Morucurry, Sambhar), sides with Carrot beans thoran, Pineapple Pachadi, kadala masala, Aviyal. The rice was served with Ghee, pappad, Pickle, Curd. Also as sweet we had Kesari and Payasam. The experience was really authentic. We tasted the flavours of Kerala in Germany. A TRUE recommendation for anyone who wants to taste good quality food with quantity not only to fill your stomach but also your heart. The portion sizes were served separately for kids and adults to be thoughtful on the food wastage. Me, My family and my friends (35) of us do not have a different opinion on the quality, taste and quantity. It was a TRUE blessing to have yourself and your friends taste authentic, good quality food being at a far away land on a great occasion that you always remember in your life. Pls. It's a very cosy place with a superb ambiance. There are very few tables inside so needs to be reserved prior to the visit. Though I have seen 2-3 families come without reservations and got the table during lunchtime. The food is tasty and the prices are on the moderate to the higher side. The Thalis are fulfilling and more than sufficient for one average appetite person. Mango lassi is to die for. It's the best lassi that I have drank and felt like made of fresh mangos and not the packaged pulp. The service was good as well.

30.06.2024 : I understand how difficult it is to serve fresh South Indian food and am impressed by the variety of authentic dishes from different South Indian states. This is one place where I can eat at peace since my son also loves the food. Having cooked for family and guests at home, I know how much effort goes into prepping and serving fresh, hot, tasty food for each plate that goes out. My 5-year-old son, who is usually a picky eater, loved the food as well. He had a full meal, which is a rare occurrence. This speaks volumes about the taste of the food. The restaurant clearly takes great pride in their food, and it shows in the end product. The service was prompt and efficient, which added to the overall experience. I must say that I was thoroughly impressed. I will definitely be visiting again next time, and I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic and delicious South Indian meal. They are trying new dishes Everytime I visit and today's Elai adi was perfect.

The shop serves authentic South Indian dishes, and they are delicious! The owners and staff are very friendly, offering recommendations and even showing us images of the food before we ordered. Though indoor seating is limited, the interior design is uniquely charming. Additionally, toilets are available. I have two suggestions: 1. Include photos of the dishes in the menu so customers can have a better idea of what to order. 2. Reduce the size of the digital menu PDF accessed via QR code. At over 200MB, it took more than three minutes to download. Other than that, I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Esslingen!

On our way back to home, we called in around 13.00 to reserve a table at 14.00. The restaurant apparently shuts down at 14.30, but Rashmi(the owner) , was extremely friendly , hosted us with awesome food. Our kid loved the place as she was provided with Coloring book, choppu saaman to play with. We totally loved our short visit and we highly recommend anyone who misses south indian food to definitely visit them and relish the delicacies. Hearty thank you Copper Bowl

We usually visit on special occasions. Like always it is very fulfilling experience. It reminds of our wonderful time in Bangalore. The quality of food is really good and consistent over the years. The brunch is simply fantastic, fresh, authentic and super tasty. You can tell the quality of the ingredients and the love for food! The okra was the highlight for me. I had never prepared them like this before and they were really brilliant. For brunch I had mango lassi and masala chai. A visit to the Copperbowl is always like a little trip to India.

Authentic South Indian restaurant in the area. I have been visiting this restaurant for many years now mainly for Sunday brunch and am never disappointed. Visited restaurant for their special Banana leaf meal a couple of times, my husband and me enjoyed the meal and reminded us of India. I also used their catering service for one of the occasions. I am extremely satisfied with their service. Quality of food is top class and taste is amazing. I would highly recommend copper bowl restaurant for their authenticity, great taste, and a friendly customer service for catering. Thank you Team.

We were there for lunch today and what can I say. I think the food is brilliant. It reminds me a lot of my time in South India and tastes so authentic. You get different Indian food here than what you get elsewhere. And that's exactly what makes it so attractive for me. It's a shame that we live so far away, otherwise we would definitely come more often.

Food is good. Availability of south Indian cuisines is a plus plus. Cost Okay.. i would suggest to keep the Indian restaurant alive and would also support. But something I don't like.. Food is something that should be sold sensibily And exploitation part.. they are chindi.. they give little sambar with the dish and charge as high as 2-3 euros for sambhar. And money for freebies like extra chutney etc etc. this kills the experience. And such restaurants can't expand their business. They'll be limited to just one-two restaurant only because of their small mindset.

We visited last week and this place is not recommendable because the price is too high compared to the quantity. I have been to other restaurants in Stuttgart which are far better. My friend wrote a review last week and she was privately contacted to remove the review which makes me angry because Google reviews provide you a platform to write authentic feeling which you felt and give honest review. I am sure the owner will try to play innocent and reply this review with some weird answer... Let's wait and watch

The BEST PLACE to try authentic vegetarian south indian cuisine. I have dined in this place multiple times. Today I found through their instagram page that they will be serving idly with Veg paya. OMG.. it was OUT OF THE WORLD. This is the first time I see this dish in Germany. Hats off to the chef for such delicious food

Typical south Indian restaurant with lot of options for vegetarian lovers. Idlli, vada & masala dosa are always recommended. Must reserve before visiting. Place is little congested as there are only few tables inside. They also have outside seating. Mango lassi from here is a must try. Overall worth it.

Excellent vegetarian Indian food. Really authentic south Indian cuisine and unrivaled within the Stuttgart area. Occasionally special food events, for instance on 1 May we had a very tasty as well as sumptuous south Indian breakfast special without flying for six hours to southern India. The dishes explore the full Indian flavor cosmos without being too hot for European tastes Highly recommended.

Copper bowl is among the select few that serve closest authentic South Indian dishes. They have impressive vegetarian and vegan dishes that are definitely worth trying. If you prefer less oily food, it's a good idea to check with the server about which options are oily and which are not before placing your order.

Only vegetarian restaurant, best place for a person like me. We were returning home (Amsterdam) from our trip and luckily my wife found this amazing place. Highly recommended for vegetarian/vegans.

Copper Bowl restaurant was really good for Dosai and Idly. The sambhar and chutneys were amazing. Sambhar vadai needs some improvement, Vadai was very fragile. The employees were very cordial and polite. Credit cards were accepted. The problem was the tiny area. Some times people show up late and occupy the table more than the time allotted which has cascading effects on other customers. Apart from the space issue, I would certainly recommend this restaurant.

If you like Indian, especially South Indian, cuisine, this is the place for you. Very friendly service, the food is always delicious. It's worth driving there from Heilbronn every now and then.

Visiting cooperbowl and having food helps with coping up with my home sickness. Overall the ambience, food, service everything was very well organized and well planned. Keep up the great work!

Pure vegetarian and authentic South Indian restaurant in Esslingen Marktplatz. This is 30mins away from Stuttgart Main Station. Copperbowl is one of the very very few places in and around Stuttgart where sambar tastes like sambar.

Food was really tasty, service was a bit overwhelmed

Disappointed for someone who read reviews before choosing a place to dine in. Right from the time we got into until we left the place - everything was below par. Firstly when you take a booking for 2 pm (for a call made at 11 am), we were slotted in at 2.20 pm and then received food at 2.35 pm (we had to order what was left in the kitchen). Lastly we were asked to leave by 2.55 pm. When you know you couldn't honour the booking and considering the kitchen would close by 2.20pm, why would someone suggest a booking for 2 pm. Message conveyed was a bit rude and blunt, considering it was a family who traveled a bit with a reservation. Quantity was equal to kids menu and quality of the food was below par considering the pricing. Nothing authentic as you read it. Better food with respect to the price and a decent service would make this place a one to come back. Unfortunately we did not feel so.

This restaurant is an absolute institution in Esslingen and the Stuttgart region and has been running successfully for many years! I've eaten here very often. The good thing is, you can get Indian food here that is NOT spicy. Also vegan and gluten-free. The owner and the staff are very helpful and friendly, the guest room is beautifully decorated and in an ancient, medieval building right on the market square. Very atmospheric and cozy. The price-performance ratio is also good. What bothers me is: - The inaccurate menu: No allergens are specified and the difference between crepes and pancakes is completely unclear to the guest when reading, the terms appear to be chosen arbitrarily. In addition, the lentil soup is called “soup of the day”, although it does not change every day, but is always the same soup. 🤔 Then why not just call it “lentil soup”? Then everyone understands what is meant. - Language barriers: The waitresses often don't understand German, only English, which is very annoying. - Some of the fabric tablecloths have stains. - But what bothers me most is that you get the same five bowls of sauces/chutneys with EVERY dish, unknowingly and without asking. Not once per table, but one bowl per dish and per person with four sauces each (around 100 ml per sauce). This is super annoying because, firstly, these sauces take up all the space at the table and secondly, they are far too much (one small plate per four people would be completely sufficient in terms of quantity or even less). I think this is a total waste of food, as half of these sauces end up unused and have to be thrown away. That has to be a loss for the restaurant, right? 🤔 Also, the menu doesn't say what different sauces they are. It would be better if the guest could choose for themselves whether and which sauces they would like. For example, I don't like two of the four sauces and they are always returned unused, which is not sustainable. It's been the same four sauces for years, which I also find quite boring. But the strangest thing is that these sauces or their exact ingredients are not on the menu. This is also a big problem for allergy sufferers. In any case, it feels like 40% of every dish consists solely of these sauces. I would like to have just one bowl with a sauce of my choice, that would be enough for me, and I would like more of the main course.

Super tasty dosas with great chutneys. The sambar was also great. Unfortunately, the entire meal was very mild and not spicy at all. I would have expected more spiciness for a South Indian restaurant. Furthermore, there is only a vegetarian selection. It's best to reserve a table as the restaurant is very delicate and small. All in all a really nice and delicious experience.

A small restaurant, easy to miss - but the food is worth looking for. We were here at lunchtime and ordered many different dishes. Everything tastes fabulous and didn't go straight back into it. The dosas are crispy and sour with a delicious filling. All starters are super fresh and hot. The Mango Lassi is also available for vegans and is incredibly aromatic and not too sweet. We will come back here, even if the way from Duisburg is very long.

We were very excited about the food. I can't even describe how incredible these flavors were, all perfectly balanced together. The mango lassi was also made vegan upon request and was very tasty. We will definitely come here again and also take the cooking class. Absolute recommendation!

One and only South Indian restaurants in Esslingen. We had been there for their Shankranthi/Pongal lunch event, and they served authentic South Indian festival food with a lot of love. The ambiance is top-notch with a lot of Indian heritage decor. I highly recommend this restaurant for an authentic South Indian delicacy. Staff were very friendly and welcoming🤗

Very popular with Indians too. There are authentic, South Indian specialties from crispy to creamy and wonderfully exotic flavors. Unusual for my German palate, but I fell in love immediately.

Do not dine here🤮❌ .Atmosphere is shitty just cause of owner . I dined there a few months back, the staff was humble , the food was delicious bt I would never visit it again just cause the owner kept hauling by over explaining everything.

Waren bereits mehrmals hier, sowohl beim Brunch als auch beim Abendessen. Reservierung ist zu empfehlen, da der Platz begrenzt und das Restaurant sehr beliebt ist. Super leckere Gerichte! Hatte davor noch keine Berührungspunkte mit südindischer Küche, uns hat jedenfalls alles sehr gut geschmeckt :)
