I have been visiting Copper bowl ever since I moved to Germany and over the years it has truly become a comfort spot for me. What I appreciate most is that they don’t just stick to the restaurant basics, instead they offer authentic and traditional South Indian food that feels like home! The Sunday brunch and the festive banana leaf meal especially bring the real regional flavours that is hard to find elsewhere. Highly recommended for anyone looking for genuine homely South Indian food.

Seriously not at all worthfull for the money you spent. We took on platter with masala dosa, idly, vada and pakoda combo. Pakoda is almost spoiled. chutnies and sambar what they serve is not even sufficient for the platter served. Thali price is too high for what they serve

Fantastic Sunday Brunch at Copper Bowl, Esslingen We visited Copper Bowl in Esslingen for Sunday brunch and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The food was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The spread had a great balance of Indian classics and modern dishes, and everything tasted homemade with great attention to detail. The service was warm, friendly, and attentive without being intrusive. The staff made sure we were comfortable throughout, and the atmosphere was calm and perfect for a relaxed weekend meal. The portions were generous, and the quality of ingredients really stood out. Overall, Copper Bowl is now one of our favorite brunch spots in Esslingen. Highly recommended if you’re looking for a delicious and satisfying Sunday brunch with family or friends!

It is a very small restaurant with hardly 40 seatings. After waiting for 45 min not worth at all. Food is very very basic. Doesn't feel like eating authentic south indian food. We ordered several items from the menu. Unfortunately, Not recommended. If you still want to give it a try.. Please reserve the seats before you go there.

We visited last week and this place is not recommendable because the price is too high compared to the quantity. I have been to other restaurants in Stuttgart which are far better. My friend wrote a review last week and she was privately contacted to remove the review which makes me angry because Google reviews provide you a platform to write authentic feeling which you felt and give honest review. I am sure the owner will try to play innocent and reply this review with some weird answer... Let's wait and watch

It's a good vegetarian south Indian restaurant with very tasty food in my opinion. My friends from India are also agree with this. It has a nice quite atmosphere with traditional Indian music playing in background. Service was also very good and friendly. I would definitely recommend this place :)

My husband, sister, and I visited this restaurant two weeks ago and it turned out to be such a great decision! It’s really hard to find an authentic Indian restaurant in Germany that truly tastes like home, but this place absolutely nailed it. The vada and chutneys were simply amazing — honestly, finger-licking good! The sambar was also incredible rich, flavorful, and perfectly spiced. We also tried the thali and puri, which were both good, but the vada definitely stole the show! Crispy on the outside and soft and delicious inside. Highly recommended: definitely try the vada and chutneys when you visit!

Food is average! Shambhar was trying hard to test like a shambhar. Most irritating thing was the behaviour of waiter/staff. The place was almost empty, but he seems like in hurry. He made us to order as fast as possible. We ordered Masala dosa, rava dosa and maidu wala. After finishing it, we were thinking to order something more after few minutes. But that poor guy immediately came with bill. We were super surprised. We didn't understand why he was in hurry to leave the place. After this experience, I think, we never gonna visit again.

Hands down the best south indian food I had outside of India. Every item in the food was delicious. The quantity is sufficient and more than value for money. We went for the sunday brunch where apart from couple of items on the menu, none of them were available plus the brunch. It is a must visit when in Stuttgart or Esslingen. Reservations are recommended due to very limited seating (7-8 tables). Parking spaces were available on Sunday. Top rating overall.

We've tried several Indian restaurants in Stuttgart, but Copper Bowl consistently tops our list. The environment is pleasant, and the staff are genuinely friendly. I especially appreciated their honesty when I asked about the Daal Soup on the menu—they explained it was essentially their Sambhar, and that while some guests enjoy it as a standalone dish, it might not be something Indians typically order separately. That kind of transparency really stood out. We’ve only visited for dinner and have enjoyed everything we've ordered. I highly recommend the Curd Vadai and Dosa. The Sambhar is thick, rich with lentils, and has a lovely authentic, home-style flavor. Occasionally, the food can be a bit oily, but overall, Copper Bowl is a must-visit if you're looking to enjoy delicious South Indian cuisine in Stuttgart—especially as a place to meet friends and unwind over a flavorful meal.

We went here with some friends in the locality and was quite manageable to reach with public transport. the Food quality was good although compared to other Indian restaurants it felt a bit more expensive, The atmosphere was quite nice, perhaps the reason of the additional buck on the menu. We were shown pics of the Food and Menu via a Tablet, which seemed too nice and helpful to understand what the Thali Menus are. Staff was as well very nice. If you do not mind too much about the cost, then the place is recommended.

I have been visiting Copper Bowl for years now, but with the recent changes and online reservations, since the past year I think, the management has improved a lot. Food has always been good, so can now definitely recommend. Be sure to reserve in advance. Ghee podi dosa is a favourite!

Ordered food from Copper bowl for our housewarming ceremony and we were really happy with the overall experience. The food was fresh, tasty, and well-packed. Quantity was more than sufficient, and the flavors were appreciated by all our guests. Loved the South Indian double beans pulav 10/10.. Everything was delivered on time and hassle-free. Would definitely recommend for any family gathering or celebration.

My girlfriend and I visited Copper Bowl for the first time after a stroll through Esslingen. We received a warm welcome and the food was delicious. Upon request, the various dishes were explained to us, and my food intolerances were taken into account. The ingredients used are all fresh, and the food is freshly prepared – I highly recommend it.

Very specialized Indian cuisine, but delicious. You won't find any of the usual Indian dishes you're used to. For example, there's no naan, which was a bit of a disappointment for our friends.

Very good South Indian vegetarian food with plenty of options. Though South Indian known for spices here it’s moderate can very well suit European palate. 3 types mini dosas & South Indian platter are excellent options which we tried. Crowded & congested better to book table in advance

The moment I entered, the aroma of roasted spices and curry leaves instantly transported me back to my mother’s kitchen. The décor was simple, but the copper accents and welcoming smiles from the staff made me feel at ease—almost like being a guest in a friend’s home. What truly set Copper Bowl apart was the authenticity. The food wasn’t adapted or watered down; it was unapologetically South Indian, with all the bold spices and unique textures I’d been missing. The staff were friendly and attentive, happy to chat about the dishes and share their own stories of South India. For anyone who’s been away from home, food is more than just a meal but it’s a connection to memories, culture, and comfort. Copper Bowl gave me that connection. I left with a full heart (and stomach), grateful to have found a place that brings a slice of South India to Esslingen. Since then, I’ve been here on several occasions, be it a random evening outing with friends, or their famous Sunday brunches and the trademark festive plantain leaf meal for Ugadi, Onam and Sankranthi so far. I ordered food (4 pieces of vada and 1 masala dosa, which cost ). They gave me eight vada and one masala dosa, which cost €38. They said they had all the prices online, but they overcharged me for the food. I asked for a price list, but they didn't give me that either.

The food is simply delicious. The quality of the ingredients is excellent; the idli and vada were fresh, and the dosai was soft and delicious. The sambhar is rich in healthy, delicious vegetables. It's pure home cooking. The food is rich in flavor, but not too spicy.

One of the most authentic south Indian restaurants that one can find in Germany! The restaurant owner, Rashmi is very friendly and welcoming. The food was purely Karnataka style, which is so hard to find in Europe! The sunday brunch/thali comes with a platter of dishes that are just the right amount, not too oily, just delicious and well spiced. The sides are unique, not redundant when it comes to blend of spices and are definitely not 'make shift' items! Relishing and one would want to keep coming back.

We recently visited Copperbowl in Esslingen, and while the service was courteous, the overall experience left us a bit underwhelmed. The ambience felt quite cramped, making it hard to enjoy a relaxed meal. The food was okay, but not particularly memorable in terms of taste. For instance, we were a bit surprised to be charged extra for an additional cup of chutney with dosa. We were also informed that our table was only reserved until 7:30 PM, which made us feel rushed. In fact, my thali plate was cleared even before I had finished my dessert, which was disappointing. To add to this, one of the red chutneys served tasted off to both my husband and me, which raised some concern. While we appreciated the prompt service, the overall dining experience didn’t quite meet our expectations.

The owner was quite friendly. My family was glad that we skipped some other restaurant in Munich and had dinner here.

We came here with our friends and tried a lot of items like dosa varieties, gobi Manchurian, vada, bonda, idli etc. Everything tasted so good and authentic. Idli was very soft and special mention to the crispy outside and soft inside vadas. They have some attractive platters, in which u can try a lot of varieties in a small portion. Very friendly and kind staffs. Though it was very crowded, they were very patient and gave the best service. We are already excited for our next visit.

Today will probably be my last visit to Copper bowl. Very disappointed by the bland and sub-standard food and service we had today. I have been visiting for many years and was very happy to have a south-indian restaurant nearby but unfortunately it's no longer feels authentic.

I used to like this restaurant, but my recent visit was extremely disappointing. The portion sizes have shrunk significantly, and the quality has degraded. Despite the high prices, it feel like a complete waste of money. It’s frustrating to see such a decline in both quality and value for money. Definitely not worth it anymore!

Authentic dosa. I ordered a dahi vada and a mini dosa platter which had 3 different dosas. They both were very good. There was some complication with reservation but the waitress handled it really well. A very friendly and fast service. Would really love to visit again :)

Unfortunately I have to agree with the disappointed reviews. An absolute disaster when it comes to reservations. I sent my first request for a group via email in January. After I didn't receive any feedback, I decided to ask by phone at the beginning of March. Result: Poor reception, call dropped, call back. After what felt like an eternity, we managed to clarify the issue in English - I thought until a few minutes ago. I was asked to write an email, so I followed up on my first request from January and called directly to point it out. Since I haven't received any written response yet, I called again a few minutes ago only to find out that the reservation hadn't been entered. If I hadn't called, a group of hungry vegans would have been allowed to go home without eating on Saturday a week from now. I haven't experienced such unprofessional behavior in the catering industry for a long time. Conclusion: It's a shame, but then I'd rather make a reservation somewhere else. P.s. I can't say anything about the quality, ambience, service in the restaurant, price-performance ratio, portion sizes and taste.

We had a lovely cooking course here. Very fun and also infomative!

Together with a few friends we were guests for an Indian cooking course. At the beginning there was a short briefing from the owner with a focus on introducing the typical Indian spices and sampling them. Afterwards we went to chop and then into the small but nice kitchen. (We were there with 9 people + the owner & chef - it was a bit tight there, but it was clear by rotating). After cooking, there was logically the food, which was very tasty. I also had a mango lassi, which I can highly recommend. The course was very nice, very friendly and personable people there and we definitely learned a few things. We will definitely come here to eat again. Thanks :)

We organized a Pongal Event in Karlsruhe. I was in Food committee team where we selected Copper Bowl.. I have to say WOW amazing food and the Hospitality of the Rashmi(owner) is too good. I was proud enough to say that we made the right choice. Special votes to Ambur veg Briyani, kothu parotta, jawarisi coconut Payasam🤤 was literally mouth watering. One of the best ever in germany. I tried most of the indian restaurants from Frankfurt to ravensburg but copper bowl was a gem. We had a tamil event and we asked buffet food for 200 people but litreally 230 members ate the delicious buffet. Price is also low. Really loved their hospitality and their taste. Will recommend for sure.

Copper Bowl was our catering partner for "Pongal-2025" The food was amazing, and it was authentic South Indian taste. It is one of the very few restaurants that make this possible in Germany. The whole communication with the Owner was Transparent and respectful. We strongly recommend Copper Bowl for any big events.

We had reserved a table for 6 p.m. and drove especially from Schwäbisch Hall. However, when we arrived we were told that there was no free table for us. That was very disappointing, especially since we had a reservation. It would be better if the restaurant clearly stated from the beginning that a reservation is not possible instead of luring us with a confirmation. Unfortunately, our visit was a big disappointment. Super annoying 😡

We came across the small, lovingly furnished restaurant by chance and were thoroughly impressed! We were lucky enough to be able to take part in a traditional Indian feast where the food is served on banana leaves and eaten with hands. All dishes were vegetarian and also vegan upon request. It was incredibly tasty and varied in taste and no comparison to other Indian restaurants where they often serve greasy, heavy food. We can only recommend the Copper Bowl and have already tried the lunch menu and had a very good meal there too. What is also worth highlighting is the friendly and attentive service and the owner was also super friendly and explained everything well to us. We were happy to award five stars here. We'll definitely be back!

Ambiance is very good. We went on a Sunday evening for dinner - the system works on a reservation based approach. You need to book a table in their website and get their confirmation. The place is quite small and that’s why without reservation you will not get place to sit. Sundays they have ala carte options - we tried their copper bowl plate, onion uttapam and idli vada, they were very good and quite close to authentic South Indian style we can get in Germany.
