Luigi's in Hamburg

Despite having a table reservation, we had to wait 90 minutes. The food was delicious.

I wanted to go to Luigi this evening with my friend and I had also ordered a table at 6:30 p.m. and had also received confirmation via WhatsApp, but unfortunately they didn't take our reservation, we waited until 7:00 p.m. and then left, it's a shame that we were so disappointed with Luigi today, hopefully it will work better next time.

Luigi's always likes the pizzas to be amazing.

A family (2 adults and 3 children) from Harz had reserved a table for a few weeks and unfortunately couldn't get in. First there is a long queue outside, then inside (still time reservations). The children didn't feel like waiting anymore because they were very hungry.

Service catastrophic. We reserved for 5 and couldn't sit well because it was too narrow. Were implemented, same thing again. 3 women had to squeeze each other like anchovies... we left immediately, but Luigi's manner was very, very bad. Been there dozens of times! Never again!!

I had reserved 4 days in advance for 2 people. When we arrived, the restaurant was completely full and 15 people were waiting in the narrow passage. A reservation makes no sense. As a customer, you are a number.

Despite having reservations for over a week, we didn't get a table. We had specially invited friends for this evening. When we arrived 10 minutes early, we were parked in an aisle where 20 other people were already waiting. When after 30 minutes no one had spoken to us, we left again. Very disappointing.

Really nice environment, super tasty pasta, good quality frutti di mare, really fast service and nice waiters in the italian and portuguese area of Hamburg.

Unbefriedigendes Verhalten seitens des Personals und Betriebs.. leider noch nie erlebt, dass man trotz Reservierung am Vortag wirklich 52 Minuten auf seinen „reservierten“ Tisch warten muss UND das Warten fand im Flur statt mit ca. 20 weiteren wartenden Gästen.. man wird vom Personal angemeckert, weil man im Weg steht, allerdings liegt dort die Schuld nicht bei den Gästen. Es kam dann nach 52 Minuten ein freier Tisch, den wir dann nachdem wir unser Essen bekommen haben wieder aufgeben mussten und samt Pizzen und Getränke zu einem anderen Tisch hin verwiesen wurden. Die Kirsche auf der Sahnetorte war, dass man diese unzufriedenenstellenden Umstände angesprochen hat, jedoch nicht drauf eingegangen wurde, im Gegenteil es wurde gesagt „ich ziehe die Schürze nachher aus und bin fertig mit der Arbeit, egal wie’s hier läuft“. Fand ich wirklich sehr schade, da man in Hamburg an einem Samstag Abend nicht einfach nochmal spontan einen Tisch für 4 Personen bekommt… die Pizza war trotzdem lecker.

Tischreservierung ging via WhatsApp Ein Tisch wurde reserviert für 18 Uhr 6 Personen Man kam im Laden an, konnte sich ein Glas Sekt oder Saft nehmen und stellte sich mit 10/15 anderen Leuten in einen langen Schlauch mit lauter Musik direkt neben den Toiletten, wo alle Kellner durchmustern. Wartezeit 40 min Pizza war super Man sitzt aber sehr eng an den Tischen Nach dem wir gegessen hatten, wurde nach Nachtisch gefragt und wir verneinten. Wir wollten bezahlen und danach in Ruhe austrinken. Und wurde dann gesagt, das wir gehen sollten, da der Tisch demnächst belegt werden sollte. Es gab noch Grappa aufs Haus, aber das war’s. Danach dann wieder durch den Schlauch, der auch wieder mit neuen Gästen gefüllt war, hindurch quetschen ..

The food is excellent and despite being overcrowded the waiters are friendly. Reservations are not taken so seriously. You still have to wait a long time to get your table, but it's worth it.

Delicious food, great service, good quality, gladly again

The food was great as always - unfortunately everything else was an absolute disaster. Despite reservations, a super long queue forms, the tables are then allocated randomly and you wait a really long time to be served or pay. We were there on a Saturday around 8pm, which is of course one of the busiest times. In principle, I completely understand if there are waiting times. But if the entire reservation system doesn't work at all, people who arrive much later are served first, no one in the service department is friendly and you generally feel like you're a nuisance - that somehow doesn't fit at all. Luigi’s will continue to run anyway, but I won’t be coming anymore. Too bad!

Really always good, but reserving a table is always unnecessary. You should set this option. Because they can't keep it or implement it. Every now and then it feels like letting the cash register ring. When you're done, it seems like you're getting rid of it so that the next person can take their place. Too bad!

Sehr leckere Pizza; leider versteht man nicht, wofür Reservierungen da sind; haben eine 3/4 h trotz Reservierung auf einen Tisch warten müssen; danach gut eine 3/4 Zeit zum Essen gehabt, als man uns gebeten hat, den Tisch schnell frei zu machen; es würden noch viele Gäste auf einen Tisch warten; wir werden sicherlich nicht wieder kommen, auch wenn es schade ist um das wirklich leckere Essen

Best pizza in Hamburg and that's no exaggeration. Today I went to another Italian restaurant and the pizza was a joke in comparison. Luigi's simply delivers good food, I hope it stays that way forever. Short addendum: The server was very rude today. There was a constant subliminal attempt to embarrass us because the waitress didn't want to see that we just wanted a pizza. The pizza is huge and easy to share. That's why there was no tip. Impudence!

You have to wait in line for 30 minutes, but after that you eat a pizza like this. The pizzas are incredibly big and we found them very successful.

Went there for pizza with our kids after the musical. It was great. Friendly service and the pizzas were huge and delicious.

Very tasty and large pizza. We were lucky that a table just became available, so I would recommend a reservation. The shop has a very interesting design, but the tables are very close together, which gives you the feeling of sitting at the same table as the next table.

The pasta was really very raw... the tomato sauce tasted like the untreated pureed tomatoes from the tetra pack. The store used to be much better and the staff was much friendlier... I'm really very disappointed. I actually tried it here several times because my wife also said come on, it could also be because she had a bad day, however, we are very disappointed almost no matter what dish we tried, from tortellini ala pana to a simple pomodoro … never again..

After we had to wait outside in the cold for 15 minutes despite having a reservation, we were finally invited in. After a moment of joy, we realized that the line wasn't over yet, but that around 30 other guests were waiting for their tables in a narrow hallway that was constantly crossed by waiters with music that was way too loud. After a total of 45 minutes of waiting, we decided to leave the restaurant hungry. Complete misplanning and disappointment.

Yes I can recommend this place! The pizza was crispy and juicy in equal measure. The Sambucca was sweet and tasty and the service was very accommodating. Thank you for the lovely end to the afternoon and the start of the evening!

We have reserved a table. The establishment was packed. The location looked appealing and the music lightened the mood. We waited at the entrance for almost an hour and asked the poor wait staff three times if we could get a table. After all, we made reservations. Unfortunately I can't judge the food because we left the restaurant after an hour of waiting. The service staff were stressed and the allocation of seats was uncoordinated. I just felt sorry for the service staff because the boss accepted far too many reservations.

What a circus! We reserved a table, arrived on time and were shown the door! They said I would have to wait an unknown amount of time!

We made a reservation for 6 people at 5:00 p.m. At 5:30 p.m. we still didn't have a table and there were around 20 people waiting in front of us who had also all made reservations. Today I went to Luigi's for the first time, after various recommendations. I can no longer understand this after tonight. With one exception, the food (two starters, two portions of pasta) was below average, but in return it was expensive. The music was constantly so loud that it was difficult to have a conversation with the accompaniment. Only the service staff was quick, very friendly and attentive. I definitely won't come back

Worst restaurant experience ever. We had a table reservation for 5 p.m. Surprisingly, no table was reserved for 5 p.m. and therefore no table was free (then what is a reservation for?). We were then sent to the back, super narrow aisle to wait for the next available table. It was unbearably loud (okay, a matter of taste) and the waiters constantly had to push past us with their tablets. Despite asking about the reservation, we were only put off waiting. Spaces are super tight. Pizza was good so far, but very expensive. The coronation came at the end. Because of the very hectic atmosphere, we paid when we had the opportunity and then drank the glasses empty. The waitress then asked us to leave. We would have already paid. And the fact that the glasses weren't empty wasn't a reason why we could stay. The fact that we only got the table much later was also not valid. Definitely not a recommendation.

Food tastes very good. The problem is simply that reservations are not kept. Regardless of whether you arrive on time or late, you have to wait at least an hour for your table.

After previous visits, as a special treat for my birthday, I ordered a table for 3 people on Saturday evening at 5 p.m. We entered the restaurant with anticipation at 5 p.m. and had our first wow experience. It was packed and the receptionist told us to take a glass of prosecco or orange juice. Here you also got closer to the staff who had to go to the scullery again and again and somehow transport the food through the hustle and bustle. Somehow there was no discernible system according to which the tables were occupied. No names or reservations were asked. Only now and then someone would come by and shout: “4 people”. At half past five, when asked, they said there were only 3 people, it wasn't their turn yet. Nevertheless, a short time later we were assigned a table. We ordered and were thrilled with the food, whether starter tapas and bruschetta, main course pizza 👍😋 and dessert tiramisu. The drinks weren't to be sniffed at either...😉 A special thank you to the team who served us so excellently and friendly and who didn't lose track, composure and friendliness in the hustle and bustle. Really great. Only one fellow, who always looked grim, spread a gloomy mood and it was this person who brought our very pleasant evening to an abrupt end. Judging by the reactions of the other employees, this gentleman probably had something to say... It was he who asked us to clear the table and leave.🤔 This has never happened to me before, especially not after a charge of €150. Especially since we ordered a table at 5 p.m. and didn't get it until 5:30 p.m. But, after reading various reviews, it's probably not an isolated case. It really seems like someone's money is going to their head 🤑 Luigi's is also no longer among the 10 best pizzarias in Hamburg. There are so many great restaurants in Hamburg that I no longer have to rely on Luigi's and especially not in the Portugiesenviertel. H.V.

We arrived without a reservation on a Saturday evening. The hallway was already full of several people waiting. BUT! It happened really quickly that we got a place. It felt like every inch of the place was being used. The waiter was very friendly. The food was tasty. Absolutely recommended! 👍🏼

Review: We spontaneously went to the pizzeria on a Saturday evening and didn't have a reservation. Although it was very full and we had to wait in the narrow entrance area with many other guests, we were lucky: after only 10 minutes we got a small table. Every centimeter in the restaurant is used, giving the whole thing a cozy, lively atmosphere. The service was very friendly and attentive. The pizza came quickly, was huge and tasted excellent! You really can't complain about the price-performance ratio - absolutely great! We will definitely come back and recommend the pizzeria to anyone looking for authentic, delicious pizza in Hamburg!

Mass processing and fooling!!!! Despite reservations, we were sent into a narrow and crowded hallway with other people waiting. While we waited and hoped that the number of people called for a table was suitable for us, guests had to push their way between us on the way to the toilet, as did the waiters with the food from the kitchen. Over time it became clear to us that this was not an isolated case, but a well-established system. Ultimately we had a table 30 minutes after our desired date. The food was good, but special requests (e.g. no cucumbers in the salad) were forgotten. It was an experience, but let's not be fooled again!

Reservierung ggf. überflüssig, da man trotzdem 45 Minuten warten darf und zwar in einem überfüllten Gang mit anderen Gästen, die reserviert haben. Zwischendrin drängeln sich Kellner vorbei (Pizzen, die noch serviert werden sollen, streifen schon mal die Mäntel der Wartenden) und Menschen, die zu den Toiletten auf dem Gang wollen. Die Tischzuweisung erfolgt nach Tischgröße, nicht nach Reservierungszeit oder -name. Das Essen kommt, wenn man irgendwann mal an einem Tisch landet, extrem zügig (allerdings sollte man sich nicht darauf verlassen, dass "Sonderwünsche", z.B. bei Unverträglichkeit o.Ä. umgesetzt wurden), leere Teller werden abgeräumt, auch wenn eine Person noch isst, sodass die durchaus auch eng gestellten Tische schnell wieder frei werden. Es warten ja noch Gäste, die eine Stunde vorher ihre Reservierung hatten... Nichts für ein entspanntes Abendessen auf einen Samstag Abend!

It's always worth it. We drove from Berlin to Hamburg for the pizza. A must when you are in Hamburg.

The only positive thing is the really delicious food. Unfortunately, everything around it is a disaster. We had reserved a table for 6 people, but then had to wait half an hour for our table along with 30(!) people who had also reserved. The “waiting area” for all of us was the 1.20m wide corridor between the kitchen and dining area. Then we were seated with 6 people at a table of 4, where it was so cold that we ate in our winter jackets. Food came quickly but you should also leave quickly to make room for the next people. Never again!

At first we were 4 people and then we were able to register 1 more person via WhatsApp. We ended up sitting at a table of 8 with 10 people. My friend was told twice by the waiter that she shouldn't spread herself so much, after all other guests wanted to sit there, she can speak Italian fluently and then told him a few "beats". It's understandable with Saturday. I come from a health resort with seasonal work and it's similar there. It's almost impossible to have a conversation. The music is great but at a disco volume. The rude waiter said that his boss had ordered it that way. His tone only improved a little when he realized that we didn't give any tips. Conclusion: Nice atmosphere, very good food, very unfriendly middle-aged waiter with a full beard. Music way too loud. In any case, we won't go there anymore!!! So the pizza was good and all, BUT: We had a reservation, they couldn't care less, all the people regardless reservation or not , were waiting in the corridor, with super loud music and standig. The corridor that we were staying, we were bothering the waiters even. The food was good and all, but then after you ate as long as the plate was empty, they are coming with pride and ask you how you want to pay, regardless if you want to stay longer or not. It's like you wait 40 minutes to eat 30 and leave. What is this??? The food is good and all but they have to change the way they treat people, especially if I am expecting to eat around the time I made the reservation.

Luigis is a very wild restaurant. Despite having a reservation, you have to wait in a narrow aisle until the seat is free, but you get a Prosecco/orange juice on the house. The pizzas and pasta dishes are super tasty, the food comes quickly and the employees are super nice and child-friendly. We have now been to Luigis twice and would always come back. For groups larger than 4 people it is definitely more difficult.

Unfortunately, the handling of the organization and service was again very disappointing. Reservations are not honored or taken seriously as usual. More people are constantly being let in and the reservation is not checked. Any person can come in and claim they have a reservation. We had a table for 5:30 p.m. so we could go to the musical at 7 p.m. The service apparently didn't care, despite communication. You should avoid being sent to the “aisle”, otherwise in a bad case you can expect to wait 1-2 hours. Unfortunately, this is not an isolated case, as this was the third experience. Luigis is not recommended for people who want it quiet or romantic. It's chaotic and loud. The waiters tell people if they haven't decided on their order yet and point out the hour they have for their table. Unfortunately, the calzone we ordered was cold in the middle, some of the salami was frozen. Furthermore, the food didn't come at the same time, the pizza came 10 minutes later. The prices for the drinks seem a bit high and the pizza is really expensive. Having been there several times in the past, I have to say that the pizza was usually very good. At the end you get a bottle of sambuca on the table and you can treat yourself to 1-2 glasses. Anyone who cares about the spirit of a restaurant will recognize that there is a lot of “show” involved at Luigis.

We ordered or reserved a table around 5:50 p.m./6 p.m. Were there at 5:50 p.m. and the store was completely overcrowded. All the tables were occupied and the waiting guests were squeezed in the aisles. The service ran stressed through the aisles past the waiting guests, sometimes shouting loudly. After 30 minutes of waiting still no table. We asked several times and we had the feeling that newly arrived guests were sometimes seated more quickly than guests who had been waiting longer. We then left disappointed. Everything was very, very disorganized, loud and busy. It is unclear why there are reservation options that are not adhered to at all. In terms of service, it's really bad. Max. 1 star. And whether the evacuation plans are in place in the event of a fire, for example, is also questionable (?)

If I could, I wouldn't give a star at all...despite reservations and waiting on site for over half an hour, we didn't get a table...a complete mess on site and more and more guests were arriving even though the capacity was already completely full. The whole aisle was a single queue...We left after waiting for almost 40 minutes! Conclusion: I would never make a reservation there again if I don't end up getting a table anyway!!

Reserved a table for 19:00, had to wait in a queue until 19:45 (in a line of people that didn't reserve), chaotic seating allocation Pizza was very mediocre and a margarita over 15€ is absurd! Especially for the quality. Waiters were extremely rushy and rude, constantly ramming into the table and our arms, unaware of the situation. This restaurant is a let-down, a management mess with a mediocre cuisine! Not recommended

Delicious pizza, always busy, service unfortunately not good, despite a reservation you end up standing in the aisle with 20 others. This seems to be standard. Not possible if you reserve.

A must for us every time we visit Hamburg. Always packed and rightly so. The pizza is as big as wagon wheels and tastes simply amazing. The staff is quick and very friendly. The decoration is a bit crazy and a lot, but it all just fits together.

Authentic Italian restaurant in the heart of Hamburg Germany. Service was excellent, I felt welcome there. We got seemingly the last table in the place as it was packed and busy. Waiters moving about making sure people were attended to. I could tell that the staff were Italian or at least spoke it fluently. Brick oven pizza was superb. I have been to Rome and tried some of the best Italian pizza and seafood dishes. Luigi’s in Hamburg comes very close. They should be very proud of the work that they do. The complimentary appetizers while we looked at the menu, and the sambuca and candy after our meal was pure class and professionalism. I showed up in my Hard Rock Cafe shirt because it was spur of the moment to stop in here, and my attire didn’t seem to matter. Overall felt very welcome, the atmosphere was lively, everyone seemed to have a smile on their faces patrons and staff alike. Solid 5/5 experience for me. Highly recommend.

This traditional pizzeria is located in the Portuguese Quarter, directly opposite the Landungsbrücken. Ambience: very original, cozy Service: fast and friendly Food: first class pizzas As a greeting from the house, the bottle of Sambuca was placed on the table with the bill! Absolutely recommended!

Online reservations are completely fake. We booked a table, the staff asked whether or not we had a reservation but never asked our name, told us they did not in fact have a table and to wait in a packed corridor full of other customers, some of whom had reservations while most did not. It clearly didn't matter, as we were all told to wait in the same line. We waited for half an hour in the cramped corridor while staff kept rudely bumping into us as they rushed past and other customers were attempting to cut in line ahead of us before we gave up and just went somewhere else. If you are not going to actually reserve tables for customers who book them in advance, just don't offer reservations.

It's a nice restaurant, with huge, delicious pizzas and a great atmosphere. Unfortunately we had bad luck with the service yesterday. He was very taciturn and even unfriendly. No greeting, no answers, no goodbye. He touched the drink glass where you put your mouth, noticed it himself, but then ignored it.

Waited 50 minutes even though we had a reservation

We have eaten at Luigi's several times and definitely not the last time! The large variety of extravagant pizzas with enormous diameters is unique. And for my girlfriend there are these, a little smaller but just as delicious, also gluten-free. Be sure to reserve on weekends and still allow for a bit of a wait. To bridge this gap, there is a Prosecco on the house. The rooms are quaintly narrow but very creatively decorated. The staff is super friendly, even when the hut is on fire. We only had to wait two (!) minutes from the time we placed the order for my large beer and the red wine for my girlfriend, and we actually only had to wait another ten minutes for our pizzas. After the delicious meal, there were two Sambuca with flambéed coffee beans on the house. So we had another fantastic meal at our favorite Italian restaurant. Always happy to come back when we are in Hamburg!

Actually I loved this restaurant. When I visited Hamburg again, I reserved online in good time. When we arrived, they wanted to park us at a small table in the far corner. We rejected this and luckily got a larger table. This restaurant is already iconic, but unfortunately the food was no longer a hit. My tortellini was overcooked, the calzone was crispy on the outside but cold on the inside. Starter was delicious. Unfortunately it's totally overpriced here.

Despite having a reservation, I was in the same row as everyone else, it made no difference whether there was a reservation or not. After 15 minutes we left. I find it disrespectful to confirm the reservation to guests but not keep a table free

Like others, we had to wait in this extremely narrow aisle for over 30 minutes despite having a reservation. It doesn't seem to matter whether you have a reservation or not, because even guests without a reservation arrive before you. The food was okay but not at all commensurate with the price. A margarita pizza costs €16! You expect a lot more. The pizza is large, but extremely thin. There is way too much cheese, which only makes the pizza taste like grease. Not worth more than €9. Generally very expensive prices. Apart from the waiting, the staff is very nice and constantly comes by despite the busy shop. The music was, as others have already mentioned, too loud and, in my opinion, inappropriate. There is no pleasant atmosphere there. The restaurant is so cramped because of the many tables, and there was so little space at my seat directly on the aisle that I was bumped into the arm several times while cutting pizza. The waiters run hectically through the restaurant without paying any attention (somehow understandable given the number of people). Together with the narrow corridors, this contributes to the hectic and uncomfortable atmosphere. We didn't even finish drinking before we were asked if we wanted to pay. You're basically thrown out. Doesn't invite you to stay! Why do you take in so many people in the first place when everything else suffers so much? It seems like quantity is more important than quality here. Accommodate a lot of people and cash in as quickly as possible.

Super cool shop! Even though it was packed, we didn't have to wait long. The service is super fast, friendly and always puts you in a good mood! Ambience and food unmistakable 👍🥳❣️

Heavenly expensive and the food is okay.

Experience gastronomy 😂 We were there on December 30th. there and have never experienced anything like it. crowds. The tables were all occupied and people had to wait in the aisle for a free table. I could have saved our reservation. It wasn't that nice to wait there and it was totally chaotic, but it was worth it. The pizza was simply incredibly tasty and the waitress was really friendly. In fact, we were asked to leave after dinner to free up the table. I personally found that underground, but maybe also normal there.

Totally cozy atmosphere, very friendly staff & absolutely delicious food!

Were in Hamburg for a short trip and visited this location again. It was extremely full and we had to wait, but Luigi sweetened the wait with champagne on the house. Once we got a table, the service and food was excellent as always. We would be happy to come back next time we are in Hamburg.
