Luigi's in Hamburg

Reserved for Christmas party at 7 p.m. Waited 45 minutes in the narrow, smelly corridor between the women's and men's toilets and then was assigned a table that would be suitable for a maximum of 8 people due to space and access... and that seems to be the program in this pub. No words of regret or apology. Thank you, never again!

It was a nice evening. The carpaccio was very good, but the spaghetti vongole was not good. Spaghetti had already been cooked beforehand and the mussels weren't fresh either. Unfortunately, pre-cooking the pasta means there is no binding and pre-cooking is absolutely unnecessary. We waited 1/2 hour for the pizza and that's enough to cook a few pasta. But the pizza made up for it all. Rarely eaten such good ones

Simply a very tasty pizza. The shop is well known, waiting times in the evening must be planned for. Now to eat. The pizzas are large, with a wonderfully thin base and very crispy edges. For us still the best in the area! Garlic oil or chili oil is available upon request. The starters are also recommended. Our classic is Buratta with pesto and cherry tomatoes. As I said, there's nothing to complain about about the food, but the prices for pizzas quickly reach €16 and that's really a proud price. Still a recommendation!👍🏻

Best pizza ever perfect location to start a great evening

Despite having a reservation, you were allowed to stand in the aisle and wait for a table. That took a good 30 minutes. When we were in the middle of our dinner we were asked to move because the table was needed for a group. That was really a shame. It was definitely not a comfortable evening.

Great ambience, nice service staff and large portions of food - very good and keep it up friends!

Great Italian in the Portuguese Quarter

The pizzas here are really delicious and arrive at the table pretty quickly, but the service is extremely bad and the employees are completely overwhelmed. Despite a reservation, you can't get a seat here in the evening or only have to wait a long time (30-60 minutes), which is an absolute disgrace and makes you wonder why there are reservations at all if they don't matter at all anyway. The ambience is also rather mediocre, everything is very narrow and loud. Conclusion: If you can go out to eat at lunchtime/afternoon when it's not busy, then do that and in the evening it's better to look for another restaurant, there are enough in the Portuguese Quarter.

For me the best pizza in Hamburg

I realize that in the midst of all the good reviews, mine will get lost. First of all, the food is A1. Now for the negative, the place is overcrowded, so overcrowded that no one pays any attention to the reservation. You still have to wait in line, in an aisle where there is a lot of traffic and you are pushed back and forth. Then after 40 minutes we finally got a seat. (Reservation at 5:00 p.m., seated at 5:40 p.m.) They were obviously not happy about having to offer a table for 4 to 3 people. Luckily, the food came relatively promptly and was delicious. Then we were cleared away and while we were having our drinks - all still half full - they tried to take a table away from us. The fourth free chair had already been taken away from us 5 minutes before. It would be reasonable for 3 people to sit at one table (waiter: What's wrong with that) I then wanted to pay because I found it rude. When I went out, they didn't want to understand that I didn't want to go anymore because of the situation and felt insulted and the waiter even spoke badly about me. I should never come back if I can't understand it and am therefore angry. Dear owners of the Luigi, I would have thought that the Italians were a hospitable people?? No, it's not possible here, the main thing is to make as much money as possible. Surely the owners won't read it either and it will be ignored. I would of course hope that others who were very upset today would also leave their review here. The store is done for me. I understand the hype, it's very tasty, really, unfortunately that's the only positive thing. The waiter should be ashamed of himself, hopefully it will result in a conversation with the owners. If not, I wish he had to eat Hawaiian pizza with extra pineapple every day.

Nothing to say about the food, it is very very good ! The service was a bit less good, we asked for the lunch tables menu since it was 2:30 but the waiter told us it was not possible anymore even though it was written 3pm on the English menu. We insisted and he finally agreed. We felt a bit oppressed during the lunch after the incident unfortunately.

Very nice small but unfortunately a bit cramped restaurant, but very tasty. I had the Atipasti tapas with sausage, cheese and homemade mozzarella which was first class and an incredibly good pizza. Already big, thin dough and perfectly baked.

While traveling in Hamburg I ate in this small Italian restaurant, very warm welcome despite our late arrival and what's more the pizza maker makes the pizzas in front of you, very good pizzas

Despite a confirmed reservation, we had to wait almost 45 minutes at 5 p.m. You could have saved yourself the reservation as it doesn't seem to be important. The employees seem extremely overwhelmed. For unknown reasons, other people are given priority at the tables. When it comes to the selection of good Italian restaurants in HH, there are definitely better alternatives. No recommendations!

Well what can I say, table reserved at 5 p.m. Were there at 5 p.m. and was told "please wait outside for a moment, it's about to start." 30 minutes later it still didn't start. When we asked when we would come to our table, the answer was "we can't say that yet, we can't "guarantee that something will happen right now." Afterwards, completely frozen, we decided to go to another restraunt. It's a real shame that reservations are obviously not valued that much.

The food was really tasty, both main course and dessert. The service was very friendly and the food came very quickly. At the beginning we got bread with aioli. Unfortunately, the music was very loud, which made it a bit difficult to have a quiet conversation. The walls were decorated with many different postcards, which (perhaps) shortened the waiting time. Definitely worth a visit.

Despite having a reservation, we were parked in an aisle where extremely loud R&B and Afrobeat music was playing. The corridor was directly next to the toilets, the sink or the passage to the kitchen. In addition to the noise and the waiters walking around, it was only possible to stand flat against the wall and conversations at normal conversation volume were not possible. There were lamps hanging from the ceiling, like at a children's disco, which spread lots of fast and colorful light in the hallway and completely random news was playing on a large TV on the wall. The staff filmed guests in this corridor without being asked and probably recorded stories for social media. After waiting 20 minutes to be asked when we could come to the table, we were told “it'll just take a while, you'll be fobbed off at the Italian restaurant (no names were checked in the reservation book)”. At this point there were around 20 people standing in front of us. When space became available in the restaurant, they simply said: “the next two or four people”. It was not checked who made the reservation. First come first serve. I wonder a lot, but above all it would be wonderful if reservations were simply not accepted here and this concept was pointed out. After waiting 25 minutes we left without eating and won't be coming back.

Recommended, but the many 5☆ reviews don't quite reflect reality! Anyone who knows the store knows that it used to be an insider tip when it came to price, quality and originality. As with all hype, this is of course not affordable in the long term. The prices have increased significantly now, the store isn't getting any bigger, but the attraction is! That means: Mostly packed and loud like a disco. If you know and love it, you've come to the right place; if you like it quieter, you can go to the informal tables on the pavement/marciapiede and enjoy one of the city's still excellent pizzas at a fairly decent price-enjoyment ratio for the area. So without a reservation, just go and enjoy! Buon appetito❣️

-Right at the Landungsbrücken- The motto: “First come, first served”. Cool concept that caught our eye straight away! We had to wait a bit, but that wasn't a problem as guests had Prosecco or alcohol. free. Drinks sweetened the waiting time. Finally we had a table and we realized - Simply WoW. Great ambience, despite the narrow interior. You don't feel like it's too tight or loud. Everything seems warm and open. The atmosphere is also great. The menu is a stunner... a bit much but that's a matter of taste. There's something for everyone. Our food was amazing! Top prices combined with very tasty food. Quality at a good level. Always my pleasure !

Cult in the HH Portuguese Quarter.

The best pizza I've ever eaten. Once you get a seat, the service and food are really great! However, there are often long waiting times in the evenings. Don't go there when you're very hungry, but instead plan your time or simply plan well in advance. But the wait is definitely worth it! ♥️

Such a great restaurant! Great service and got a seat without a reservation! The service and treatment was just great, we were even greeted with sparkling wine. A mega atmosphere. I can only recommend it to everyone, I haven't eaten this well in a long time! 😍

Luigi’s is truly a classic in Hamburg and is almost always full - no wonder this Italian restaurant is so popular. The pizzas are definitely delicious, but for me the real star is the Pasta Luigi’s. The combination of prawns, fresh tomato sauce and the strong note of garlic is simply perfect. Everything tastes so good that you'll want to come back again and again. The ambience and mood in the restaurant is also a plus, making the experience entirely enjoyable. Anyone visiting here should definitely try the pasta - in my opinion it is the highlight on the menu!

I've been a guest at Luigi's over and over again and always found it delicious and cozy - at best the space was a bit crowded. Yesterday the three of us had made a reservation for 8 p.m. and then we immediately met a crowd of people in front of the restaurant. Inside - with a reservation you could enter - there were people all along the hallway waiting for a place. In return we were immediately given a glass of champagne in the hand. After 20 minutes of waiting and in view of the deplorable staff who work under such conditions (employee retention looks different), we preferred to leave. I won't be making any more recommendations in the near future...it's a shame - there's potential!!

Saturday evening - unfortunately we had to wait 1 hour despite a reservation. Food was good, starters and desserts were delicious. At the end there is a bottle of Sambucca on the table. Service was friendly. Unfortunately the waiting time and the noise cost 2 stars.

NEVER AGAIN! We made reservations and had to wait outside for over 30 minutes with what felt like 300 people who had also made reservations. Waiters are all unfriendly, have no structure, people push their way to the front and are served first without a reservation. Please save yourself this store, don't make a reservation and go somewhere else. Cheeky and not professional at all.

Was in the restaurant for the first time in the evening following a recommendation. We had to queue up but the allocation of seats went very quickly. Interiors with cozy dimmed light. Tables very close together. I found the place card to be very overloaded. It's hard to imagine much among the many names. Lots of text, no pictures at all. Average price 20 euros for a pizza. I chose one based on feeling. I thought it was nice that I could watch my pizza being prepared. Waiting time for order to be delivered to the table: a good 15 minutes. About the pizza: Very simple but big. Topping was very clear. Because of this, I found the pizza to be a bit dry. Thin base, pizza crust wasn't burnt and you felt like eating it up. But in the end I felt like there was a lot of bread and not a lot of toppings. If you're looking for a nice restaurant, it's definitely a nice experience. But it was price performance

It was terrible: the food is worse than from a diner that has never cooked Italian food; The staff was totally unfriendly and wanted you to leave quickly so that they could serve the next person and they seemed to forget reservations quite often (including ours). I used to go there often because I liked the pizza, but this is now the worst Italian restaurant in Hamburg.

So, the pizza was one of the best I've ever eaten in the restaurant and the starter was extremely tasty and huge. In general, the price-performance ratio in this restaurant is first class (including the 2 bottles that come with the bill😉) Unfortunately I have to remove one star from the rating due to the long waiting time for a table DESPITE RESERVATION. But all in one a highly recommended restaurant

I absolutely cannot recommend Luigi's restaurant. I called Luigi's in the morning and reserved a table for 4 people at 5:30 p.m. The lady on the phone was very nice and confirmed the appointment for me. When we arrived on site at 5:30 p.m., I had informed the entrance that we had reserved. The gentleman at the entrance told me that reservations were not possible over the phone and did not want to respond to this. He asked us to wait a while. After about 10 minutes outside, he asked us into his restaurant and gave us free champagne and orange juice and told us to wait in the hallway (there were already about 10 people waiting in front of us in this hallway, it was very warm and cramped. We also had to The entire staff with food etc. passed through the approximately 1.50 meter wide corridor. It was just narrow). After about 20 minutes we finally left again because no one could/wanted to tell us what to do next. NOT RECOMMENDED!!

Went on a recommendation and weren't disappointed. Unfortunately we had a stupid place, but that happens. We were lucky to get a place at all, after us everyone had to wait until something became available. We were there for 4 days in Hamburg on a Sunday evening for the first time at 6 p.m., with a reservation. From 6:15 p.m. there were no more tables or seats available. That's why I recommend always making a reservation. We sat inside and had a good time despite the number of guests. Because it was so busy, the staff took a little longer, but that's completely understandable. The staff was very friendly and nice despite what was certainly a stressful evening. They really deserve the 5 stars! Now to the food: Looking at it, the pizza was one of the best for me, the size, I've never seen anything like that before. Everyone has to decide for themselves whether the pizza is "worth" the price. I was very positively surprised.

Luigi's Restaurant. This delightful little restaurant impressed us not only with its warm and courteous staff, but also with the beautifully presented food. What was particularly impressive is the fact that the staff pointed us towards the lunch menu, which was cheaper - even though they would certainly have made more profit with other dishes. That really speaks for the hospitality. But not only that: the interestingly designed walls invite you to linger and look at it and round off this culinary experience perfectly. A big thank you for the thoroughly successful visit!

Extremely hot from the pizza oven. In the summer you really sweat a lot here. It's just a party Italian - in other words, people don't come for the food but for the atmosphere. Overall also a bit louder. Lots of groups that are also louder in the bar. I think there are better party Italians in Hamburg.

Most welcoming and touristic pizza place in town. They gave free shots at the end. Look how they shaped pizza as heat shaped since I ordered a custom pizza.

We had reserved a table in this restaurant for 4 weeks. So on Saturday we were there on time with 7 people and had to wait in front of the restaurant. About 35 other people were waiting with us in their RESERVED spot. There were more than 45 of us standing outside in the cold drizzle and unfortunately we waited in vain for our table because it wasn't available yet. Like many others, we then looked for another nice restaurant around the corner. Sad but true ! Actually, I wouldn't have given it a single star - that's just absolutely cheeky!

I've eaten here many times over the years. The atmosphere is always crowded, loud and cramped - you have to come to terms with that. The “world champion” pizzas are actually very tasty and something special. On this visit I opted for a seafood pizza, which turned out to be a disappointment. The topping had little to do with Frutti di Mare: in addition to a single shrimp and a tiny, indefinable sea creature, there was something else that was reminiscent of surimi in taste and consistency. Not very appetizing. The pizza was topped with too much cheese, and the “garlic” was made with copious amounts of garlic oil – definitely overkill. The combination with the cheese made the pizza unpleasantly soggy. The dried oregano was also used far too liberally. The lasagne we ordered no longer corresponded to the quality that was served here two years ago. There are many indications, both visually and in terms of taste, that convenience products are being used here. It started with a completely soggy bruschetta. Given the prices charged here, the quality should be better.

Reserved for today (birthday party) with 10 people at 7:30 p.m. After waiting outside for 40 minutes and asking several times, a group of 14 people took their turn. We understand this group has reservations for 7:45 p.m. After asking again, a very unfriendly employee gave us the choice "either you wait or you just leave, it's not my problem". It's a shame, especially on such an occasion you should be able to rely on a table reservation. After waiting for an hour, we unfortunately moved on after speaking to the employee.

The food is delicious and the atmosphere is nice. Unfortunately, after the food has been eaten, you are informed relatively quickly and directly that there are people waiting for a table and that you should make room for the next customers. Still recommended.

Pizza is unusually large for how much you pay for it and tastes really amazing, very similar to the one in Italy. Overall very good experience.

I'm speechless! My friend discovered wire in his food at this restaurant and when he reported it, the staff simply took the wire away and disposed of it without even a word of apology. Instead, my friend was kicked out of the restaurant. Such disrespectful and irresponsible behavior is inexcusable. If you eat at this restaurant, be careful to keep evidence in case something similar happens. Don't let anything be taken away from you! Something like this simply shouldn't happen!

If you wanna experience an absolutely crowded noisy dinner environment,then come here. it is unbelievable too many people and the service is like you have to wait for century. The price is way higher than the average a pizza cost already €18 which is expensive . I’ve ordered some classic Italian pasta, but it was super oily. I wouldn’t say it’s a good restaurant with nice taste. There are hundreds of restaurants which is better than this. It is just a tourist trap.😓

If a guest eats wire from a dish and the restaurant refuses to negotiate. When you have to call the police to solve the problem. I can't imagine what the service is like in this restaurant.

I had an extremely upsetting and infuriating dining experience, which even led me to call the police. First, I found a piece of metal wire, clearly from a cleaning tool, in my noodles. I confirmed this with the waiter, who also acknowledged it was a metal wire. I even shone my phone’s flashlight to show it, and everyone nearby saw it too. The waiter then took away the plate with the wire before I could fully react, so I didn’t have any evidence left. Still, I trusted the restaurant would handle this matter responsibly. However, the waiter only offered me a cup of coffee to settle the issue, which I refused. I asked if I was still expected to pay for the dish that had a dangerous foreign object in it. Their response remained indifferent, and I had to get up and approach them after waiting for too long. Then, a so-called "manager" came over and claimed it was impossible for their kitchen to have any metal wires. He even suggested the wire could have fallen from the air. He showed me their kitchen tools, saying they don't use wire brushes for cleaning. I explained it might have come from the dishwashing process, but regardless, I found it while eating in their restaurant. I told him that this wire could be extremely dangerous and could cause serious harm if consumed. What I wanted wasn’t just a free meal but an appropriate attitude from the restaurant. To my shock, the manager became aggressive and accused me of planting the wire myself. I tried to explain that I live nearby and have been dining here regularly for years without any issues before. But they seemed to think I was just trying to get a free meal. Eventually, he began pushing me out of the restaurant, in full view of the other customers waiting outside. Some of them even offered me tissues and advised me to call the police. I believe this restaurant needs to be inspected for health violations, as my life was put at risk. Secondly, the restaurant insulted me without evidence and physically pushed me out, for which they should apologize. Lastly, as a loyal customer who has recommended this place to friends and visitors for years, this treatment is truly heartbreaking. I stood outside in the cold for an hour, waiting for the police, not for anything else but a fair resolution. Under police persuasion, the restaurant finally apologized, but my trust in them is completely shattered. I won’t be returning, and now I’m experiencing stomach pain. If my health deteriorates further, I will consult a lawyer and take formal legal action.

Horrible service and bad food quality, please avoid!

The place looks tiny from outside, but it is huge inside. The food was delicious, but the seating area was really old and crammed with tiny hallways and space between tables. The restaurant location is pretty good, though.

Es war wirklich keinen Cent wert. Trotz Reservierungen wartet man in einem sehr engen Flur lange auf einen freien Tisch. Wenn ein Tisch frei wird brüllt einer der Kellner für wie viele Leute ein Tisch frei geworden ist und nimmt den erst besten dann. Die Musik ist sehr laut, Kellner unfreundlich und das Essen keine 22€ für eine Pizza wert. Alles in allem kann man sagen: BLEIBT WEG….

Wenn wir in Hamburg sind, versuchen wir zumindest einen Besuch im Luigi's einzuplanen. Wir wurden hier stets freundlich bedient, die Pizza ist lecker und meinem Mann schmeckt die Pasta auch. Es ist etwas beengt, aber als Rheinländerin habe ich keine Probleme damit, mit fremden Leuten an einen Tisch gesetzt zu werden. Für mich gehört dieses Lokal zu den Empfehlungen in Hamburg

Pizza sind wohl sehr gut, leider ist die Pasta mangelhaft. Für 22,50 Euro eine Portion wo noch nicht einmal ein Kind von satt wird. Geschmacklich total neutral. Habe es nicht verzehrt und auch nicht bezahlt. Schade, aber bitte dann nur Pizza anbieten!
