L'Osteria Kiel in Kiel

We visited L'Osteria Kiel three times this week and felt very comfortable each time. The atmosphere is perfect, the service is attentive and helpful, and the food was top-quality—whether it was salad, pasta, pizza, or coffee. One suggestion: the spicy oil is neither spicy nor great in taste. Just a few chili rings in the oil; it looks great and does what it's supposed to do...spicy! Thanks for the lovely time.

We arrived quite spontaneously and got a table after a short wait. The menu arrived quickly, and our drinks were taken. Everything went quite smoothly, including our order. If you're looking for a cozy spot to sit together, this isn't the right place, as it's always quite hectic and loud. We enjoyed the food. Overall, I recommend it.

A nice, quite large restaurant with plenty of space between neighboring tables. Fast and friendly service. My companion and I had pizzas, and we can only say they were very good and very large, so you should be quite hungry to manage the portion; otherwise, you can take the leftovers home with you.

I always enjoy going there. The staff is always really friendly, and the food never disappoints! The prices are also simply fantastic ☺️

A normal L'Osteria. The service was very friendly and quick. The pasta was still quite hard when I received it. I complained and immediately received a new portion. The portion was fine, too. The restaurant appears clean and well-maintained, as are the restrooms.

The four of us were given a much too small table, and we weren't even allowed to move. A friend had to wait quite a while for his food. And it wasn't even fully cooked. No idea if we'll come back again.

There were six people, and we decided to try our luck without a reservation on a weekend. Despite the restaurant being full, we were politely directed to the bar to wait. Everyone was extremely helpful, the staff were super friendly, and the food was excellent. We'd definitely go back when we're back in Kiel.

Disappointing Experience & Unfriendly Service We went to L'Osteria Kiel with our family and were unfortunately very disappointed. The noise level in the restaurant was extremely high, but the main problem was the unfriendly and disinterested waiter in our area. To our friendly request for our daughter to have something to draw, he simply responded with a brusque, "I'm planning on doing that." While a colleague distributed bread baskets to all the tables in her area, we were simply ignored. Even after a friendly wave, there was no reaction; instead, the waiter stood around, chatted with a colleague, or disappeared to the back of the restaurant. Particularly worrisome: My best friend had a piece of plastic in her food, which was completely ignored by the staff, with no apology or compensation. When we confronted the waiter about his behavior, he became rude and simply made excuses. No sign of self-reflection. Accordingly, there was no tip, and we were dismissed with a pointed disregard and a dismissive "yes, yes." Very disappointing; neither the service nor the customer service matched what one would expect from a restaurant in this chain. We won't be returning.

Smooth service, very tasty pizza.

The best pizza and we always like to stop here. But the rude service, people waiting outside at 11:15 and they won't let us sit down or use the toilet even though we said we would eat. I would never treat my customers like this. And it's been the same here for years since we've been coming here.

You can get probably the biggest pizza in Kiel at L'Osteria. The location right next to the train station is convenient for anyone not coming directly from Kiel. The ambiance is okay, but a bit loud. The service is excellent. Thank you very much. It's also excellent for large groups.

The restaurant was very busy, and after a short wait, we were given a table for four without a reservation. The food is typical L'Osteria; if you don't like it, don't go there. Our service was very friendly, prompt, and attentive. Only the insane noise level really spoiled the experience; I wouldn't go there again. Other reviewers have already complained about it. The restaurant then described this as a typical osteria atmosphere. But I've never experienced such noise anywhere in Italy.

L'Osteria in Kiel is a restaurant with excellent Italian cuisine and a great, modern ambiance. Even if you don't have a reservation, you'll be taken care of; it might take a while. The food arrives relatively quickly, even though the restaurant is packed. The pizza size is more than adequate. There are many different, and sometimes unusual, toppings. The pasta dishes are also recommended. In addition, the prices are perfectly reasonable for this level of quality. Overall, an all-around high-quality Italian restaurant.

We reserved a table online for Sunday lunch. You never know! We received a very friendly welcome and were then allowed to choose a table. The pizza was fantastic, as always! I was particularly pleased with the friendly and very attentive service!

The food was superb, even though our requested dish was sold out—we found a great alternative. The waitress was friendly and attentive, always had a smile, and rounded off our evening. The noise level is a bit loud at times, but it doesn't detract from the overall experience.

We spontaneously reserved a table, and that was a good thing. It was completely packed and loud, but also very pleasant because of the lively atmosphere. Drinks and food can be ordered online at the table, but it's not mandatory. It should be noted that the pizzas are 45 cm (!!!) in size. However, you can also top each half with different toppings and share them, which is what we did. You can also pay online, but then you can only choose between 15% or 18% for the tip, which can be a bit steep for larger amounts. Otherwise, a definite recommendation!

The music was so loud that the other guests had to talk so loudly that you couldn't hear your own voice. The spaghetti Bolognese... tasted of nothing. Apparently, even the pasta water was missing salt. The question of whether it tasted good is purely rhetorical. We've been to L'Osteria restaurants in Germany many times... this was the worst. The other three dishes we had were tasty.

My wife and I were there with the children. The service was rather rude. The dish of the day (spaghetti, lemon mascarpone with chanterelle mushrooms and chicken) had extremely few chanterelle mushrooms and chicken in it; you could count them on one hand (seriously, one hand was enough). It wasn't seasoned either, so we were glad we had cruets on the table. For my youngest child's gnocchi, we wanted extra sauce, but they charged us 0.50 cents extra without informing us (not worth the drama, but considering the arrival and service, it's worth mentioning). We chose a 50/50 pizza for the older child (50% Margarita 50% BBQ Chicken). The taste was okay, but they also skimped on the ingredients. There were 6 small pieces of chicken on the BBQ pizza, and when we asked them about it, they just shrugged their shoulders and said, "We can always order more, there's always only this amount on it!" We've been to much better L'Osterias, and this one was by far the worst. Unfortunately, I don't just mean the spaghetti, but also the service and the quantities on and in the dishes. Maybe it was just a slip-up, but we won't be coming back here again.

Tasty, fast, friendly, inexpensive

It was my first time there. It was a lovely restaurant and the people were friendly. The lemonade was delicious, but the spaghetti carbonara wasn't my cup of tea. The pasta was very firm and the taste was okay, but not outstanding. The friendly waiter made up for it somewhat.

We shared a huge pizza. One person couldn't finish it alone. It tasted absolutely delicious. I highly recommend it.

Good food on site, but disappointing for takeout or ordering! We regularly eat at L'Osteria and enjoy our favorite pizzas there – the quality in the restaurant is truly top-notch: fresh, crispy, delicious. However, we've noticed for some time now that the pizzas we offer for takeout or delivery (like Uber Eats) have unfortunately declined significantly. We even picked up a pizza ourselves – without a long delivery time – and even then, it was very soft. The typical crispy crust is actually a hallmark of L'Osteria pizzas. Of course, you can't expect a perfectly warm pizza with a delivery time of 50 minutes, but the difference compared to the quality in a restaurant is very noticeable – and that's a shame.

After 20 minutes without being served, we left. They could have at least brought drinks.

A very disrespectful boss. Although the kitchen closes at 10:30 p.m. according to the staff, and it's been that way for years, she told me in a very disrespectful manner at 10:20 p.m. that the kitchen had already closed and I wouldn't get anything. Two of us arrived at the restaurant early in the afternoon, and it was only half full. We sat down at a four-seater. We realized we had made a mistake when the waitress asked us to move to a two-seater, in a nearly empty place. We then spent our money elsewhere.

Another visit to L'Osteria in Kiel was planned. All previous visits had always been flawless. Fast service, order taken without delay, the drink arrived immediately, and a few minutes later the food was on the table. The quality was good as always. Today,... somehow different. A table was assigned. It took a while, then the server came. Since I knew what I wanted, I ordered straight away: a drink, a main course (pasta). Now things got unusual. After waiting for 20 minutes, I spoke to the server in a friendly manner. I was presented with the tray and the words: "Everything logged in..." Aha! Now things got hectic. Within the next minute, my drink was on the table. 😊 A few more minutes later, my pasta arrived. Well, there must have been a connection problem, hence the delay. Otherwise, as always, everything was great!

We came here for lunch with 18 people as part of our company outing. The food was truly excellent and everyone enjoyed it. The ambiance was also quite pleasant. However, the service was a bit slow; we had to wait about 45 minutes for our food despite the restaurant being fairly empty. Overall, though, the restaurant was recommendable.

The pizza is huge (45cm diameter), thin with crispy edges and a strong tomato base. Excellent, two of us ate it. The place is noisier, busier, more suitable for a quick sit-down than a romantic candlelit dinner. I recommend a reservation, especially for groups, but also for couples. Prices are reasonable considering the size of the portions and the location.

Unfortunately, this L'Osteria is so packed with tables that you're almost sitting on the laps of strangers sitting next to you, and when you get up, you inevitably bump into other tables. The music is way too loud, and the many guests almost have to shout to talk to each other. Without a reservation, it's almost impossible to have a meal. Despite the great food and excellent staff, we probably won't be going back anytime soon.

We had a very good lunch here, and the spaghetti was perfectly cooked al dente. The typically Italian ambiance is created with great attention to detail. The service was attentive and friendly. The half portions for kids are very generous.

Unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. We sat outside for 25 minutes, asked several times for our order, but no one came. Shortly after we left, the next group at the same table was served within five minutes. The service was not only slow, but also seemed unfriendly and disinterested. What a shame! Woooow a wonderful Restaurant decoration atmosphere is magnificent like home. A restaurant that I regularly go to, I went back for the first time with great joy after a long time but I was disappointed. I do not recommend it… Neither the chef nor the authorized person cares. I share these as a gastronomy restaurant expert: One of the tables full in the restaurant leaves and another sits. Anyway, sitting outside is forbidden or there is no service :( If I want, catch a bird with your mouth, IT IS FORBIDDEN. The clear explanation given by the reception staff. Anyway, we sat down, your drink came and we asked what this is, they said "Whether you want to drink or not, it doesn't matter to me" then the waiter who looked at us came with an attitude of "If you drink, drink, if you don't drink, don't drink". No service suggestions like "Can you get another drink, I can recommend you another drink as you wish" came. Anyway, we waited for your order for a long time, we waited.

In Google maps it says that it open from 11:30 on Saturdays, but when we arrived hungry in 05.07.2025 at 11:30, on the door it says that it opens only at 12:00. Total scam. Why timetable is not correct?!! Managers of L'Osteria should pay attention to this.

On Google maps it is said that the pizzeria shall open at 11:30 every day. However, despite over 10 people waiting outside from this time, they didn’t open. Just a printed list with opening hours today from 12:00 is glued to the door. How do people suppose to know when you are opened? Just change the opening hours on the google maps. That is super frustrating.

A nice restaurant in Kiel, part of the L' Osteria chain. It was quite busy that evening, but the waitress who served us was attentive and very friendly. The food (two pasta dishes with panna cotta for dessert) also came quickly and was delicious. I would go again if I'm ever in Kiel again.

The three of us found a seat on the terrace (right in front of the main train station) and initially ordered only drinks (one Ipanena and two coffees). We noticed that the already listless waiter's enthusiasm had plummeted even further. Even though it was the last day of Kiel Week and there weren't many guests, we felt like we were a nuisance, unwelcome. We must have ordered too few. The drinks were okay (though the coffee was extremely strong and the Ipanena barely had any brown sugar), but everything was within reason. It would have been nice, though, if the waiter hadn't just been interested in the table next to us and had asked about it. We then ordered a Caprese and were actually planning on eating something larger afterward. A mini plate arrived with a handful of halved cherry tomatoes and a ball of burrata, as if freshly hatched from the package, placed on top, with a mini basil leaf (luckily it didn't blow away) and some oil (and a bottle of balsamic vinegar)... Very unloving, but the price was all the more hefty: €11... The same as a pizza margarita... You can do it with tourists... We decided against eating more, and when we paid, the same thing happened: no one asked if everything was okay, no thank you, no "goodbye"... A real shame... And never again!!! Grazie... To be fair, one more thing: We didn't go inside (not even to the restroom), so no rating is possible. In any case, I've never been disappointed by this establishment in meeting my expectations. Likewise, the atmosphere of the service could have been just a snapshot and an exception. That's only human, and completely understandable, especially at such large events. But charging €11 for a simple appetizer that was so carelessly prepared and served is simply cheeky of the company and the owner. Good service always starts at the top, and here the fish's head stinks to a fault 🐟🐟🐟

Always delicious, we have eaten at L'Osteria in Berlin, Cologne, Bochum, Saarbrücken, Mannheim and a few other places, and now also in Kiel.

I visited L'Osteria Kiel with friends in July 2022. It was midweek, a little later, but the restaurant was still well-filled. We had to wait a short time at reception. However, we were greeted warmly, and since it would be a few minutes before a table became available, we could wait briefly at the bar. We were then able to order drinks and enjoy them at the bar. The bar staff was very friendly and accommodating and, once we got our table, easily arranged for the drinks to be rebooked. The menu offered a potpourri of Italian delicacies. We opted for various pizzas and lasagna. The food arrived quickly and impressed us both in terms of taste and price. The pizzas were, as usual for the L'Osteria chain – huge! A little smaller, 1-2 euros cheaper, would have been perfectly fine, but the pizzas are a real eye-catcher. The wait staff were friendly, but they were busy, so there was always a wait. The atmosphere was generally great; the loud "Spanish" music wasn't necessary for me, as it made the room very noisy. Conclusion: If the music were a bit louder, the staff a bit more attentive, then I'd give it 5 stars next time. I'd be happy to come back!

Complaint about unprofessional behavior by a waitress Dear Sir or Madam, I would like to complain about the behavior of one of your employees – the waitress who served us today, June 26, 2025, at approximately 10:03 PM. The waitress was extremely rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional throughout the evening. Instead of friendly service, we were met with a harsh tone and derogatory behavior, which made the entire evening very unpleasant. Such behavior is completely inappropriate and disappointing for a restaurant of your standards. I hope you will review the situation internally and take appropriate measures to prevent such incidents in the future. Due to this negative experience, I unfortunately cannot recommend your restaurant.

The food was delicious, nothing to complain about. The only downside would be the knives. I haven't cut with such blunt knives in a long time. Otherwise, it was top-notch.

The food was great. It was ready quickly, too. We personally found it annoying that the music was so loud. It made it difficult to have a conversation, especially because everyone had to talk louder because of the music. If you want to go there, you should make a reservation in advance. It was quite full, so you had to wait for a table.

My girlfriend and I ate here yesterday, and I was blown away by the excellent service. Even though it was quite busy, we were able to have a pleasant conversation. I also really liked the open view of the kitchen. The huge pizza was the highlight of the day ☺️, but I had to have the leftover slice packed up, which wasn't a problem; I didn't want to drive for over an hour with a stomach ache... We'd love to come back. I've rarely felt so comfortable in a restaurant.

I ordered lasagna...nicely served but found it was ice cold in middle.The waiter took it away I then waited quite a while with no explanation.When I queried this I was told I needed to be patient. Eventually a complete new portion was served and was told I could have a coffee on the house.By this time my meal was now out of step with my partner. We decided to have a dessert not a coffee, but the waiter did not want to offer a discount even though the experience for us both was poor.Eventually with no apology and very bad grace he took 7 euros off the bill but didn't speak to us again. Most un hospitalble I will never go there again.

I'd rather not give this place a star at all. On Tuesday, June 3, 2025, I wanted to eat there with my roommate and a friend. When they asked inside if they could set up a table for us outside, the man who was serving drinks said, "No, we can't do that." He repeatedly said that you can get through the door in a wheelchair without seeing him. After explaining several times that we needed a table outside, he said, "If you're too stupid to get through the door in a wheelchair, I can't help you either." When our friend asked him if he thought that's how people treat disabled people, he said, "Yeah, I can't help it." Our companion then said that this would have repercussions, to which the man simply wished her a nice evening. After we left the restaurant, our companion immediately called L'osteria. They told her that the man was one of the best and friendliest employees and that he had his reasons. That's simply shocking in 2025.

Superb place with friendly service and great food

Everything was great. The pizza was delicious, and the dessert was a surprise, too. We'll practice that Ramazotti again 🤣 But it was well-intentioned. Thanks for the lovely evening.

Had a great meal at this branch of the L'Osteria chain. Because we didn't feel like eating a whole pizza, we were able to share one. The waitress was attentive. Smooth and friendly service. When the place is full, it can be very noisy. Recommended.

The food was okay. Unfortunately, the waitress only came to the table once. We wanted to order dessert, but the waitress didn't arrive until the kitchen was closing, even though we'd been in the restaurant for over an hour. And it wasn't really busy on a Monday evening.
