L'Osteria Esslingen in Esslingen am Neckar

Every time I visit Stuttgart on business, I make sure to stop here with my German colleagues to celebrate the latest achievements. The pizzas are generous, the atmosphere is always exciting, the staff is always very friendly, and it’s located in a nice area. However, they were very busy last night, so the poor server was working extremely hard to serve all of her tables, so we were unable to order more beverages and request for more napkins when we needed them.

Huge pizzas with a large selection of pastas. Beautiful location - right on the water. You feel like you're in Venice 🥰 the toilets were clean. Minus: Unfortunately, accessibility with a wheelchair is poor: only stairs, no elevator. Rather unsuitable for older people who have difficulty walking.

The food was very good despite the high price. I didn't feel welcome, the waiter was hostile.

The food at L'Osteria actually tastes the same in every branch. What particularly struck me here was the very friendly and service-oriented staff.

Tasteless pizza, no real tomato sauce, just tomato paste mixed with water, use cheap/unripe tomatoes, eggplants didn't taste good, no spices, outrageous price, never again. The restaurant is nicely done, service is good.

Everything was good. Except for little things. E.g. You are first seated at the bar to wait until a table becomes free. (The table we got was already free when we entered the restaurant, as were the other tables). The noise level is also quite borderline. The pizzas are huge. Almost impossible. For this you get, If you can't manage the rest, a paper bag in which the pizza is wrapped in paper. I think that's good service.

Unfortunately, the atmosphere was completely ruined by the hectic and sometimes unfriendly service. Waiters seem very stressed and sometimes very rude. Always remember, we guests are the ones who pay your wages. If we are polite and want to enjoy a nice evening, then I have to expect the same from the hosts. Unfortunately we were disappointed.

Fast friendly service. Huge pizza with decent quality, This is what you would expect for the high price. Of course not a posh Italian, but better than in Metzingen. Good location in Esslingen and can be recommended. Franchise with EC payment query 10% 20% 30% Tipping is really out of date and actually cheeky. With all love......

The ambience in this L'Osteria is super pleasant (in contrast to many other L'Osteria restaurants, where it is simply too loud). The food at L’Osteria is always very tasty and reasonably priced. I love the tiramisu and the crema de fragola, here they know that cream has no place in the tiramisu cream 😉 Share pizza - perfect amount. The side salad is very tasty. The service is very nice.

A very unfriendly service. A busybody because... We were a very large group (50 people), of course this can be a bit stressful. Nevertheless, we were many guests and ate and drank a lot. The head waiter had a very aggressive tone and reacted extremely unfriendly to the request to add another table so that everyone had a seat. He needed the table for more guests, although the restaurant wasn't particularly full at 4:30 p.m. and there were still plenty of seats until 6:30 p.m., when we left. The food came at the same time and was good. The pre-ordering of the food didn't go quite smoothly. Misunderstandings on both sides and the aggressive attitude of the head waiter did not necessarily help solve the problems.

Our visit to L'Osteria in Esslingen was a real disappointment - especially considering the fact that we came specifically for the beautiful terrace by the river. We had reserved in advance and were looking forward to sitting outside overlooking the water. Despite free tables, this request was strictly refused by the waiter at reception. Instead, we were told to sit in the back garden area, where there was a strong smell of vomit coming from the bushes - an unacceptable environment for a restaurant meal. Similar decisions were also made for guests who arrived later, which made the displeasure of many people clearly noticeable. The bad experience continued with the meal. One person in our group was brought their dish a full 15 minutes later than everyone else, which was not only unprofessional but completely ruined the enjoyment of the meal together. The entire organization appeared chaotic and uncoordinated. What particularly bothered us was that many guests without reservations were turned away despite there being free seats. Apparently the restaurant can afford to ignore money and customer satisfaction. That was definitely our last visit to L'Osteria in Esslingen. The service deserves a rating of 0/5 stars. We certainly won't make the long journey again in the future just to experience such disappointment again.

When we were at the bar we noticed a young man with gold glasses and a green T-shirt (probably a waiter or a shopkeeper?!). He literally disrespected and turned away every customer. He became very naughty and rude to a family with a pregnant wife and children! The waiter was very rude and rude. I don't understand how you can set something like that. We lost interest and immediately left this strange shop! Other customers also felt uncomfortable and left!

Nice place. Beautiful location, large restaurant, fairly large menu and good selection. Nice atmosphere . The wine list is a little lame. Otherwise, everything is fine, no better than the Italians, of course, but for the Germans it’s definitely an ales good.

The L’Osteria in Esslingen is absolutely worth a visit! The atmosphere in the restaurant is cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxing evening with friends or family. The huge pizzas are particularly impressive – fresh, crispy and generously topped. The pasta dishes are equally delicious, with a wide range of sauces and ingredients. The service was friendly and attentive, and the price-performance ratio was absolutely right. Anyone who loves Italian cuisine will get their money's worth here. I'll definitely be back!

lousy attention. I had a reservation today at 4:45 p.m. I waited at the door for 15 minutes and when I asked a waiter for a table I was ignored and then another waiter came over and slammed a bench. Terrible attention from the workers of this place. I will definitely eat somewhere else.

It was really tasty for my taste. I would have loved to try the card. The L'Osteria is also in an exposed location. It's best to sit outside. And Esslingen is not without it - definitely worth seeing!!!

I had dinner there with my girlfriend and the service was very good. Reservations via the website were quick and very easy. Food was also very tasty and came to the table quickly. I can only recommend the spicy Rustica pizza and the salad with sheep's cheese and beetroot! The restaurant also has a terrace where you can eat. The view of the water with the beautiful bridge is very worthwhile on a nice evening. A restaurant that deserves all the love!♥️

It was our first visit and had no idea what to expect, we were greeted by lovely staff who couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. We experienced fantastic food in a beautiful location for a very reasonable price. Highly recommend a visit!

Not awesome. Risotto is just wet rice...pizza is not good at all. Never ordering from here again. Don't waste your time or money. Plenty of better places to order from in esslingen

Usually we liked l'Osteria, but yesterday we've taken out pizzas and not only they were very dry, but there were hairs in it. Total disappointment, you should take more care about the hygiene in the kitchen.

The pizza was huge and very tasty. I also loved that you could have the pizza topped with half and half. The salad was also very good. The service was extremely friendly and quick. Our wishes were promptly fulfilled. There was nothing to complain about at all.

Dieses Geburtstagsessen war ein absoluter Reinfall. Leider! Der Kellner ist absolut falsch in diesem Job. Unfreundlich, wirkte genervt und generell desinteressiert. Ein patziges, nein Zoddles sind aus und nein den Wein haben wir nur offen (trotzdem der Lugano als Flaschenwein ausgeschrieben war) müssen reichen. Das bei 3 Personen und 2 Flaschen Wasser erneut erbetene Wasserglas wurde nie gereicht, der Vorspeisensalat nach nocjmsligem Nachfragen. Der wrinküjler wurde einfach auf einen Stuhl platziert. Wein sollte probiert werden. Nachdem fie Bestellerin direkt nach dem Einschänken probierte sagt der Kellner "der ist gut" und schenkte direkt weiter ein ohne abzuwarten. Wir ware noch mit der Vorspeise beschäftigt, als der Hauptgang serviert wurde. Es wurdenicht einmal gefragt ob es schmeckt. (Tortellini waren übrigens total zerkocht). Unsere Aperitif-Gläser wurden nie entfernt, obwohl wir an einem sehr kleinen Tisch vor dem Eingang des Restaurants platziert wurden... aber wie gesagt, es gab ja noch Stühle auf die man etwas stellen konnte... Schade, aber danke nein. Gür so einen schlechtrn Service gibt es zu viele wirklich großartige Konkurrenten.

Beautifully located on the Neckar. Friendly waiters and solid food. Okay, maybe it wasn't my best idea to order tortellini alla panna when it was 30 degrees, but that's my problem. ;-) Unfortunately you have to travel halfway around the world to get to the toilets and when I asked where they were, no one told me that you needed a code to get in.

Really delicious food! The spaghetti carbonara is highly recommended. Also delicious dessert. Prices are absolutely fine. Please be sure to reserve in advance and some time before the desired date!!

I've eaten in the lostaria many times now and the taste was delicious, but the service gets worse and worse each time, mostly unfriendly. In my opinion, the drinks prices are far too high for what you get and they rise even higher every time. What also often happened to us was that we were completely ignored, forgotten or simply missing food and, for example, the starter salad came after the pizzas? I hope for an improvement because I like the taste

Everything great! Luckily we weren't put off by the chairs that had already been put up in one part! Food perfect and service very friendly. Pizzas huge and very tasty! Only the noodles were still a little hard.

The differences in service assessments can be seen in the previous reviews. We have already met some nice staff there. Last Thursday, however, we did not have a positive experience as we should have waited at the counter until a free table had been cleared and cleaned. Perfectly fine. However, the attempt to settle there beforehand (we were tired from hiking) was rigidly rejected. We were asked in unfriendly terms to continue to wait at the counter without even a glass being removed from the table. The attempt to speed up this process was again rejected and emphasized with the hint that we could leave. Apparently we ended up with the same waiter as other dissatisfied guests. It will certainly inspire the desire to settle there!

The owner was extremely unfriendly, incompetent and disrespectful. That was the first and last time.

Very nice if you sit outside on the Neckar, the pizzas are huge (D=45cm) and also very tasty. In my opinion there could be a little more arugula on it, but if you ask for more, that's what you get as long as the waitress doesn't forget it 🤣. You have to know.

Incredibly long waiting times at the counter, especially the shop is relatively empty and you can't just sit down. The staff constantly walk past you, don't say hello or care. You find a place yourself and are allowed to sit down don't sit down. Not customer friendly! Absolutely no recommendation!

When it comes to staff, you can tell that there are no major changes. I've been seeing some of them there for more than two years at a time. The food is at L`Osteria level as you know it. Just felt with more “love” than in other L`Osterias. The ambience is unbeatable, you just love going there, especially in summer. The shape of the building and the furnishings fit perfectly. The separate bar as a reception is just great. You just don't feel stressed if you don't have a table yet. You can get a table for four people after waiting a maximum of 20 minutes.

I checked that there were two seats available on the terrace and went in, but they said I had to wait for more than 30 minutes to eat outside. We didn't have time to wait, so we just left, but as soon as we confirmed our seats on the terrace, they showed us both seats to the white people in line behind us. It's not that we didn't have a place, but I think the problem was that we were Asian. If you want to feel offended, you can visit! We walked in to see that there were two seats available on the terrace, but were told that there was a 30+ minute wait for outside dining. We didn't have time to wait, so we walked out, but as soon as we left, they gave both to white people in line behind us. The reason we didn’t get a chance to seat in outside is not because there were not enough seats, it was because we were Asian. If you want to feel what racism is, go visit!

We were on Friday August 3rd. Not a nice welcome at around 5 p.m. When we asked that we would like a table for two, indoors and without a reservation, the bad-tempered and snippy seat assignor simply replied: Yes, if you're gone in an hour... We would have preferred to turn back straight away, with such a statement. This was incomprehensible to us because only about 6 tables inside and 5 tables outside were all occupied. And there really wasn't much going on. In earlier times there was a lot more going on and there was still no time limit. You could have just said it in a friendlier way! We watched the usher for a while, he was really yelling at everyone. Both his colleagues and the other guests arrived. There were actually still a few tables available outside and no reservation signs on the tables. A guest also saw this and asked if they could sit outside. Then he just said energetically and in a loud voice: Do you see any places there? So I don't see any here! The highlight, which shows that he is not professional and completely unsuitable for this job, was when he groped a blonde waitress's underbelly in front of our eyes. Really a no-go! At least it was quick to order drinks and food. The quality is always very good and the lasagne and spaghetti cabonara were really to die for. Kudos to the guys in the kitchen. Praise also goes to our waitress with dark brown hair tied in a braid who brought the drinks and food. You show that despite stressful work and understaffing, you have to make the best of it. You always had a smile on your face and were super friendly and accommodating! Thank you for being there. Keep it up! 🤗

On Friday lunchtime/afternoon you are sent away because there aren't enough employees and it's not exactly friendly. Various employees walk around the area. Service is better, I don't like the manner and especially the tone.

In a great location! There are probably almost no tourists in Esslingen except for us. The treatment was accordingly. However, the food was good and especially the drink. Nice city anyway!

Fabulous place to eat!!! The staff were most welcoming and friendly, the food was delicious and the ambience of the outside dining by the river was unbeatable! We nearly bypassed the restaurant because it looked like it would be expensive, but to our surprise it was one of the most reasonably priced menus in Esslingen! Alexandra and Darius were fantastic hosts - a most enjoyable experience all round!

Very nice restaurant with a terrace right on the Neckar, in the heart of Esslingen. Large pizza, well topped and very tasty. I'm already looking forward to the next time. Tip for rowers: can also be used as a paddle-in.

After clearing the legs I was asked by a nice waitress whether everything was OK. I pointed out the salad. A coffee on the house was offered. We had a view of the open kitchen. Racist! I wanted to have dinner there. There was no one at the reception, I asked a waiter politely for a table and he said we could choose one outside. The owner who heard this and was pretty drunk looked at me and said did you make a reservation. I answered him no and he suddenly said we had a private party, even though there were so many tables free. The waiter was totally shocked and I didn't know what the owner didn't like about me. Such superficial people shouldn't run restaurants.
