I stated when booking that it was my birthday. Unfortunately that was forgotten. I know from other birthdays in L'Osteria Esslingen that a candle is brought. I was looking forward to that. For free. Too bad.

Very loud. Pizza could stay in the oven for another 5 minutes according to my taste...

Ordered a starter and pizza, both were served almost at the same time, after we asked to bring the pizza later, the staff were annoyed and as punishment we received a cold pizza. The starter was very tasty but the service was subpar.

Not super easy to find, but once you get in it's great! The food was a lot but really great. Service is also really great Highly recommended!

The restaurant is located in a rustic house near Esslingen's old town. The pizzas are huge - actually too much for one person. Two sizes would be great. It's nice that you can choose two different halves - so you have more choice when it comes to toppings. The selection itself is classic, no special features. The pasta selection is ok, the homemade pasta also tastes very tasty. Unfortunately there is no salmon or truffle pasta.

The pizzas here are both huge and super tasty. We even topped each pizza twice. The service had been so good. Even though it was very busy, the waiters were very attentive and even took the time to make recommendations to the guests. This is how you want to be treated as a guest. We'd love to come back.

It's always a great experience to come here. Super friendly staff. The food always inspires me anew and the ambience is also absolutely contemporary. If I had to find something negative, I could just say it is usually very crowded, which means the volume is appropriate, but a full restaurant actually speaks for itself. Stopped by spontaneously and got a table straight away. There is a great view of the water in the back. The staff is super friendly and personable. The drinks felt like they were brought to our table straight after we ordered. The food was great, one of the best Alio e Oglios I had in L'Osterias. Really a great restaurant and worth recommending.

Went with my girlfriend on February 14th and waited for 30 minutes even though we had a reservation. Then they sat us at a table by the window for 3 people and then they removed us because a large group was coming and then a couple of 2 sat in our place. The food is excellent but the service and attitude towards customers is terrible.

The boss has to think about the space that his employees offer his guests. There were five people today who wanted something to eat and we were offered a table where no three people could eat even though half the restaurant was empty and they said you had to make a reservation. The employees were very unfriendly when you asked for a larger table and even said that was for 6 people. Discussed with customers because if it were possible I would give zero stars. I think they are the only ones in Esslingen who can keep a chain. There is better pizza 50m away.

Went to L'Osteria in Esslingen on Saturday and were super satisfied. We were seated quickly, the waiters always came straight away and didn't keep you waiting. Everything worked perfectly with the Amici app. Our waiter was very friendly and often asked if everything was good or if we needed anything else. We were also more than satisfied with the amount of food, we would definitely come again. Child-friendly and not barrier-free.

We ate here with our friends and ordered two half pizzas. When the waiter brought out the pizza, one of my friends had a much smaller portion than us. We brought the problem to the waiter's attention, at first he just apologized, but when we put the pizza aside they brought a new one without a word. We don't blame the waiter at all! He did his job and was very nice to us. However, the chef could be more careful to ensure that the half pizzas are reasonably equal.

The food is very tasty and the atmosphere is of course nice, but on our last visit we ordered two large (0.5l) cokes and we were deeply disappointed: the coke tasted completely (!) like water and was in a glass without a bottle. Halfway through the glass it started to taste like cola, but the first 2 dl was a diluted cola imitation.... I guess they fill the 0.5 glass with 0.33 cola bottle and add ice and soda to it . Terrible! I didn't want to bring it up because I didn't want to ruin our evening, but we were very disappointed. Like a dirty bar where people get watered down drinks... Terrible, but really. And even the price of the large cola: 5.25 euros So dear L'osteria, you should perhaps think a bit about what will be served for your guests.

Very large pizzas and ultra tasty.

Typical L'Osteria pizza, you can't say anything against it. Tasty and filling, but the prices are slowly going through the roof. Sure the pizza is big but 20 euros for a pizza😅 I grew up in times when a margarita cost 5 euros.

Delicious pizza, be prepared: Extraordinary size.

Positive: Location and ambience are great. We also liked the open kitchen. And the employees were all friendly. Negatives: Women's restrooms looked terrible. There was no toilet paper or towels, they were lying around on the floor. (Well, the restaurant can't do anything about that directly, but it would be an advantage if there were regular checks) The pizzas looked great, but were too big for our taste. When the pizza no longer fits on the plate and I touch it on the table (which was probably clean, but was probably cleaned with a rag that had been in use for a while) we no longer find it very appetizing. The taste was ok, but it gets cold very quickly and given the size, that's a shame.

This time everything worked out great, especially the friendly service. The last time there was an extremely arrogant, unfriendly service man with a bald head and a stocky stature...unbelievable, the guy should be fired without notice! Very nice insider tip, great atmosphere, nice food and friendly service. Update: 01/01/25 During our last visit, my sister wanted to make a reservation by phone and was told to just come because there wasn't much going on. The shop was very busy on site and some tables were free, but we were treated undesirably, despite the explanation that the colleague on the phone did not want to accept the reservation request and that we had to listen to it on site, but the gentleman at the bar said it was full , Then you should take the reservation over the phone even if the shop is empty and not treat us on site as if it were our fault. We felt very uncomfortable and unwelcome and left without anything to eat. You should rethink your practices and not stop guests on the phone from making reservations, and let your staff be friendlier and more accommodating. I won't go there again and won't recommend it to my friends either.

Wir gehen eigentlich gerne und regelmäßig in der l'Osteria essen, aber unser heutiges Erlebnis lässt uns das überdenken. Wir kamen mit 8 Personen (4 Erwachsene, 4 Kinder) in der l'Osteria in Esslingen an. Dort war es auf den ersten Blick recht leer. Dennoch wurden wir abgewiesen, es sei kein Tisch verfügbar, zu viele Reservierungen. Auch aufgeteilt sitzen wäre nicht möglich. Ok, Pech gehabt. Wir sind also mit etwas enttäuschten Kindern losgezogen in Richtung des nächsten Italieners. Dort war es aber, in der Tat, absolut voll besetzt. Auf der Suche nach weiteren Alternativen habe ich dann als Notfallplan geschaut, wann der nächste freie Tisch in der l'Osteria verfügbar wäre. Und siehe da, etwa zehn Minuten später. Wir sind also erneut dort aufgeschlagen und haben unseren Tisch erhalten. Um uns herum waren auch noch jede Menge Tische frei. Die Wahrscheinlichkeit, dass mehrere große Tische in ca. 15 Minuten plötzlich frei (und reservierbar) geworden sind, ist doch eher gering. Wir fragen uns also ernsthaft, aus welchem Grund wir abgelehnt wurden? Sind Kinder hier nicht mehr Willkommen? Oder Gäste im Allgemeinen eine Last? Wir sind sehr enttäuscht von diesem Verhalten der Mitarbeiter!

We actually enjoy eating at l'Osteria regularly, but today's experience makes us rethink that. We arrived at l'Osteria in Esslingen with 8 people (4 adults, 4 children). At first glance it was quite empty there. Nevertheless, we were turned away, there was no table available, too many reservations. Even split seating would not be possible. Ok, bad luck. So with somewhat disappointed children we set off towards the nearest Italian restaurant. In fact, it was absolutely full there. Looking for other alternatives, I then used an emergency plan to see when the next free table would be available at l'Osteria. Lo and behold, about ten minutes later. So we went there again and got our table. There were also plenty of free tables around us. The probability that several large tables will suddenly become free (and reservable) in about 15 minutes is rather low. So we seriously ask ourselves why we were rejected? Are children no longer welcome here? Or guests in general a burden? This experience left us very disappointed!

Disappointing service at lunchtime We spontaneously wanted to eat lunch at L’Osteria and were turned away at the door because there were supposedly no free tables available. A little surprised, we looked online for a reservation right there on the spot - and lo and behold, suddenly a table was bookable! This behavior leaves a very negative impression. It seemed as if spontaneous guests were being deliberately turned away even though there were seats available. This is neither hospitable nor professional. The experience completely spoiled our desire for a relaxed lunch. It’s a shame, L’Osteria – that’s how you lose guests!

It's a shame that you can't give 0 stars, but it would be appropriate here. The location is beautiful, the food is okay, but the service is so bad that it's a wonder the store lasts so long. We had to wait over an hour for our food. At some point the waitress came to us very annoyed and said the printer was broken. Our minor had ordered after us and had received his food. When asked whether the food was just going into the oven or whether it was already ready and she just didn't know which table it belonged at, she said that the food was already ready. But it took forever until our food came. We let that go back because we didn't have any more time. When we wanted to pay, the waitress didn't even come to our table. The first waiter we spoke to didn't want to make the payment either. The second one then gave us the drinks. If you don't value good service, you're welcome to go. It's just not necessary given the number of good restaurants with nice staff in Esslingen.

During a chance visit to Esslingen, we came across L'Osteria, which we do not regret. Real Italian pizza, real Carbonara and Mezzalune made great impressions. Each of them tasted delicious, and the prices were acceptable for every budget. Nice service, modest decor, clean toilet. The disadvantage may be the entrance through a shared staircase. I recommend it to everyone. We will definitely visit there someday.

Best Italian restaurant in the area. Great atmosphere, very tasty, fresh food. The pizzas are really huge. I can't understand the negative reviews about the pasta! That's why I took extra pasta and I have to say they were PERFECTLY made (as usual for Italy) and very tasty! The bruschetta was also great! We'd love to come back. Kind regards from Switzerland!

A nice restaurant with good food and fast, friendly service. What I personally didn't like was that the noise level was very high (which was still ok) but especially: the toilets. I wasn't told that you need a code to use these. This led to a somewhat unpleasant situation, as several others and I were standing in front of a closed door. The toilets were anything but clean and the paper was not filled. Otherwise a nice restaurant.

Unfortunately service on Saturday was a disaster. I can't complain about the taste, except that none of our food was salted. It was very crowded and loud. My pizza and my girlfriend's pizza were forgotten. The others were already finished when I just started. So the bottom line is, like in almost all restaurants here, far too few employees!!! First of all, don't do this to your employees and secondly to your guests. We wanted extra parmesan at the table. What came?? Regular Gouda! So that doesn't work at all!! There were three of us there and we had pasta. Too much al dente. The noodles were still so hard that they stuck out from the fork. Al dente plus! We can't judge the pizzas. They are of improbable proportions, it must be said. They are huge. We were given a table with small bistro chairs. I'm sorry but if I reserve 6 weeks in advance I expect a table with decent comfortable chairs. Bistro chairs in a restaurant! No thanks. The employee assigned to us was nice. However, EVERY other table was set, and at our bistro table only a basket of cutlery was placed on the table. We only found it strange when all the other guests were set up. The salad was only served with the main course after a comment, instead of with the starter. My starter was simply noted as the large portion without asking, even though I wanted it to be small. And the salads as starters for my friends didn't come at all, even though they were ordered as starters. As I said, only upon request from the waiter. It's incredibly loud. A cozy meal and a conversation are almost impossible. You don't always understand the person you're talking to because this means everyone in the whole restaurant gets louder. Which doesn't make this whole atmosphere pleasant.
