L'Osteria Duisburg in Duisburg

We've been here several times (the two of us) and the food is really good. On our last visit, however, a few things went wrong, especially in terms of service and ambiance. After our drinks arrived fairly quickly, we waited a very long time for our food. The tables next to us were taken much later, but had already had their orders ready about 20 minutes earlier. The waitress said she didn't know why the kitchen hadn't received a slip for our order—okay, things can go wrong sometimes. But there was no apology either. Oh well. After a total of 40 minutes, we were finally able to eat our pizza. Our stomachs were already at 7:30. But then a group of over 20 people sat down at the next table, where additional chairs had to be placed. This made it so crowded at our table for two that either an adult's bottom or a child's arm was constantly bumping into our table while we were eating. It was so loud that we couldn't have a conversation. During the entire time, no one asked if we were okay or if we needed anything else. In the end, I didn't leave a tip. They only give that for good service. It's obviously not particularly "socially acceptable" to have to openly tap the tip on the card reader in front of the server. She saw it, of course, and was apparently so angry that she didn't even say goodbye. The food is really great, but the rest of it was just nothing this time, dear team. Oh, and please invest in new sharp knives and square tables instead of round ones. You sometimes have to eat your giant pizza on your lap 😅 We'll visit you again, but we'll probably pay a closer attention to see if anything has changed. Otherwise, we'll just go somewhere else.

A nice restaurant in itself, but we waited an hour for our pizza... The server only came to the table three times the entire time, and was generally very dissatisfied.

-Food used to be much better -Atmosphere like any L'Osteria, but I find it way too loud there. You can't communicate and always leave the restaurant with a headache. -I don't like the service. It takes way too long to get served, for drinks to arrive, for the food/dessert to be served... everything just takes way too long. It's no fun. People constantly forget something; maybe a napkin or cutlery. I used to like Losteria, but these days it's only a last resort. It's a shame.

This is our second time here. The atmosphere is perfect in the warm weather! The food is really good and the price/performance ratio is right! We were served by Jessica and it was great. We'll definitely be back!!

Highly recommended. I felt like I was back in Italy 😊 I simply brought the Italian vita to Duisburg's inner harbor. Wow, the waiter Shako was great 😊 very friendly and always took great care of his tables, often asking if everything was okay.

We had a wonderful evening! Shako's service was simply fantastic – very friendly, attentive, and warm. You can tell he enjoys his job. The service was excellent overall, and the food – especially the pizza – was incredibly delicious and freshly prepared.

The food was, as always, very good. Unfortunately, the service is getting worse and worse, and sometimes you have to wait over half an hour before someone even notices that the entire table has empty drinks. Cleaning the salt and pepper shakers is more important than taking care of paying guests. I'm not sure I'd want to come here again. Even though the food is always excellent, it doesn't make up for the poor service.

The seating there is very nice, right by the water. The service was friendly. My pasta with strips of beef fillet was okay, but a bit bland in flavor. The arugula topping was wilted and carelessly slapped on.

Not recommended. We wanted to reserve a table on site, which is supposedly possible on Fridays and Saturdays... it's weird how to do it online. We spontaneously found something better and decided to leave our money and tip there. The Innenhafen is not recommended for dining.

Honestly, I wasn't ready for the size of the pizzas! They're huge, so you get what you pay for! Plus, the flavor is really there! The staff is pleasant and attentive. I recommend this restaurant for those with a big appetite!

There were four of us there and we were looking forward to a lovely evening. Unfortunately, things turned out differently. After we placed our order, the drinks arrived a few minutes later. However, they forgot to send the food to the kitchen, so we had to wait a good hour. Patience ran out when new guests arrived and they got their food before us. We didn't get any attention from the service, so I had to run to the kitchen to address it. Then the pizzas didn't have great toppings. A Margherita pizza only had four halves of small tomatoes with two basil leaves. That's not exactly appetizing. Mistakes happen, but a lack of honesty with customers by not admitting mistakes and instead making up excuses is annoying! Also, the soft drinks that contain carbonation, such as cola, don't taste good. They have little carbonation. It tastes stale. We passed this criticism on to the service team.

The pizzas are huge and generously topped. The pasta is great. The gnocchi is definitely worth trying. Friendly staff and a stylish location. Nelli was a particularly nice employee for us today. Thank you for the great service! At least in the evenings, when it's busy, it's quite noisy.

It's certainly one of the nicer places in this city, which is so lacking in feel-good spots—to put it very euphemistically. Compared to other branches of the chain, it's a bit of a downer.

A very bad experience. The restaurant manager himself treated us disrespectfully and condescendingly. We were addressed in an inappropriate and offensive manner. We were clearly made to feel unwelcome. It was a humiliating experience, and we will certainly not visit this place again.

Food of the usual quality. Unfortunately, a side salad that was ordered was not served but was charged for. The ambience is very nice, especially in summer, with a view of the water (terrace).

I had dinner at L'Osteria today with my family and my parents to celebrate Mother's Day together - unfortunately it was by far the worst visit we have ever had at a L'Osteria. The waiter was extremely unfriendly and seemed annoyed with our order from the start. I understand that you're not at your best every day - I come from the catering industry myself - but pat answers to simple questions or small requests for changes are not acceptable. Our order was incorrect and we had to ask him and other waiters several times for things like salt, parmesan, bread, herb butter or oil. My dad's pizza was delivered incorrectly and he then had to wait around 15 minutes for a simple tuna pizza with nothing. At some point the mood at the table was in the basement and we described our experience to the superior (presumably the owner). He was actually very friendly and offered us coffee on the house afterwards - a nice attempt at making amends, but we were just happy to be full and able to go. It was supposed to be a lovely day, but unfortunately it was marred by poor service. It was an educational experience for all of us – and to be honest, I don’t know if I would even want to set foot in a L’Osteria again. I've really never experienced anything like this before.

Unfortunately, “difficult to photograph” is not as difficult as delivering the right pizzas

Top staff and a well-rehearsed service team. Are happy here. In our opinion, the price/performance ratio here is very good. Individual wishes are also taken into account. Keep it up, we'll be happy to come back.

The absolute highlight of our evening was the outstanding service from Esther! She was always at our side, created a perfect atmosphere with her warm manner and attentiveness and made our evening unforgettable. Esther is really a reason to recommend L'Osteria! Their commitment and kindness made our visit very special. We will definitely be back – thank you for a great evening and the fantastic experience! 🌟

Absolutely recommended – a culinary delight! Losteria amazed us again with their fresh, Italian cuisine! The pizza is crispy with high quality ingredients. I would particularly like to emphasize the friendly service and the cozy atmosphere - you immediately feel welcome. The selection of wines and delicious desserts also rounded off the meal perfectly. Price-performance ratio is absolutely right here, and we will definitely be back!

Just bad. Pizza burned, I reserved a table and the waiter saw his mistake instead of giving us any randoms and didn't correct it. Order placed, waited 40 minutes even the water only came after half an hour. Sry but that takes way too long, no wonder the store is almost empty. Very loud, very expensive, just not worth the money and time.

Yesterday afternoon, I was a guest at L'Osteria in Duisburg's inner harbor with three other people on a sunny day – unfortunately, our visit turned into a negative experience that had little to do with hospitality. We first sat down at a table where children had previously sat – with the permission of the parents at the neighboring table. The table hadn't been cleared yet, but we had no problem sitting down while it was being cleared. Then a young waitress came over – without greeting, without politeness – and immediately, in an unfriendly tone, informed us that the table was "occupied." Before we could respond, the parents from the neighboring table intervened and confirmed that everything was fine. Nevertheless, the waitress again rudely ordered us to stand up, otherwise she would "get into trouble." When we told her she was welcome to clear the table while we were seated, she rolled her eyes, sighed in annoyance, and continued to insist that we stand up. Politeness: None. After 3-5 minutes, the table was clean, but no one told us we could sit down. Waiting in the blazing sun, we decided to put two small tables together in the shade. When the waitress saw this, she mockingly commented that the other table was now ready – again with an annoyed expression. A short time later, another employee (presumably a supervisor) appeared, also without a greeting, also immediately addressing us harshly: "Do you want to sit here now?" He accused us in an unfriendly tone of having a table cleared for us, only to then cheekily move us – and this with four people who were supposedly blocking two tables, even though they were obviously seated together. An unprofessional discussion ensued, during which, fortunately, a parent from the neighboring table intervened again and supported us. He confirmed our account – apparently, the waitress had completely distorted the situation. The table in question was the outermost row of tables at the very back left, which offered no shade from the umbrellas. The tables we had put together were in the middle row, and we were accused of deliberately disturbing the employees while they were working and making it difficult for them to serve. The second waiter only explained to us as a final explanation that this was precisely the reason. This, of course, wasn't our intention. We didn't want to disturb anyone while they were working, so we stood up. In the end, we left the restaurant, disappointed and shocked. The service here used to be friendly, attentive, and customer-focused. Today, the impression remains of annoyance, disrespect, and an atmosphere in which, as a guest, you feel more like a nuisance. It's a shame – L'Osteria used to be better. We won't be coming back anytime soon.

I was recently a guest at L’Osteria Duisburg and can only warmly recommend this Italian highlight! The ambience is authentic and invites you to relax - from the stylish furnishings to the cozy atmosphere, you immediately feel welcome. The menu impresses with a large selection of pizzas, pastas and tempting desserts that are freshly and tastefully prepared. I would particularly like to highlight the waitress Mercan, who made my evening an unforgettable experience. Her warm and courteous manner, coupled with a palpable passion for excellent service, made the difference. She was always attentive, always had an open ear for requests and accompanied the evening with her charming manner. Thanks to Mercan, the service felt personal and exceptionally professional.

Definitely recommended. The service was attentive, friendly and reasonably quick. The food was delicious, even the ice cream. I wasn't expecting it since it's served in a paper cup. The restaurant itself is large and was very busy on Sunday evenings. One complaint is that given the size of the location there was only one functioning toilet for women.

Good address to eat in a beautiful location on the inner harbor. The map is diverse, but not too big. The food is fresh and delicious. The service was attentive, even though the restaurant was very busy on a Sunday evening. In my opinion, not every corner of the restaurant is comfortable to sit in. Otherwise everything is good!

CONS: Unfriendly, snotty waitress doesn't want to sell you anything when you enter the restaurant at 10:20 p.m. even though it's open until eleven. The coffee machine was out and there would be no more beer.

Aren't people actually ashamed of not tipping these days? You buy food for 80 euros and don't have a cent tip? There are jobs and service that would not exist without tips because otherwise they would not be sustainable. Anyone who doesn't even have 50 cents, whether online or in cash, should be really ashamed.

We really liked it, even though it was very busy the service was super nice, we were there with 4 children and there were also children's menus. These were very large but at a great price, generally value for money was very good 👍 I think it would be good if you could make a reservation outside, otherwise we had a nice evening

The service is super friendly, the ambience is great even in Duisburg, and special requests are fulfilled. And the view of the inland harbor is also great.

The food was typically very good at L'osteria. Unfortunately, there were some "demanding" guests who required our waitresses to spend significantly more time than usual. As a result, our dishes stood ready at the counter for some time and although the problem was known to the rest of the staff, no one stepped in to bring the dishes to the guest in a timely manner. That's not how it works in a team.
