Well, to be honest: for that much money, I would have at least expected the pasta to whisper "ciao" to me and the pizza to dance with joy in the oven. Instead, the whole thing was more of a culinary stroll through mediocrity, and at a high-end price level, no less. Antipasti starter platter: looked like bella Italia, but tasted more like bella boredom. Considering all the wood on the board, there wasn't much fire on the tongue. Penne all'arrabbiata: You really can't go wrong with that, but they didn't have anything particularly exciting either. Pizza: Well, it's a matter of taste. Some like it, some don't; I guess I'm one of those people. Service: friendly, but somehow it feels like you'd rather be somewhere else. The place itself is really nice; they've put a lot of effort into it. It's just a shame that the food and service can't quite keep up. Conclusion: A pretty setting, but the taste fell somewhere between Naples and the nearest pizza place around the corner. Spent a lot of money, had a mediocre meal, and left with a slight shake of the head. Unfortunately, not recommended.

Very disappointing! Yesterday, the two of us went to L'Osteria in Castrop and both ordered drinks. Nevertheless, the waitress treated us rudely, simply because we didn't eat and I didn't tip. Tipping isn't mandatory! You shouldn't judge guests based on their sales, but treat everyone with kindness. As a guest, you should feel welcome – the opposite was the case here. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable; we certainly won't be coming back."

Today was the first and last time I went to brunch. I've never experienced anything so bad. I've had more choice at home at a family brunch. Also, there's fresh tarte flambée on the buffet, which was immediately put out cold. The scrambled eggs were completely dried out. When I pointed this out to the extremely incompetent staff, they replied that they couldn't throw it away. The buffet was supposed to end at 1 p.m. At 12:15 p.m., I wanted to get a dessert table, where you can't really go wrong. Unfortunately, I arrived too late. The remaining desserts were eaten by the staff behind the counter, and as a customer, I walked away empty-handed. Soft drinks weren't available at all because the tap was broken. Such information beforehand would have been nice, so you could leave before the food was on the table. The only positive thing I had here was the free coffee at brunch. Otherwise, the quality was beyond poor. The service, if you can call it that, was lazy, unfriendly, and greedy. The fact that the staff also eat is OK, but not directly from the buffet behind the counter when customers still have wishes.

So, one star for service feels like too much. When you're overwhelmed in a completely empty store, and you don't get a tip because of the poor service and food, and you can't even say goodbye, it's a real disgrace. Also, the pasta was cold, and the arugula pizza comes without arugula, which is a real achievement. I don't recommend this place!

My boyfriend and I had pasta for dinner. We both ordered spaghetti aglio e olio and spaghetti arugula e pomodorini con kirschtomaten. The tomatoes had a very bad taste, were spoiled, and ruined the flavor of the rest of the dish. The service was poor; although the staff was friendly, they were inattentive, and the restaurant wasn't busy. Because of the bad taste of the tomatoes, they gave us free water. 👎 They should check the products they use and make sure they're fresh. We asked for coffee, and it was brought cold. 👎👎 I wouldn't eat pasta at this place again. 😔

I can't say anything about the food. We just didn't get around to it. Nothing going on, Sunday, nice weather. We sat down on the terrace. We waited five minutes. The waitress walked past us without so much as a "hello" and left. Ten minutes later, there was still no one there to take care of us. Hospitality and service were abysmal. The place itself was very nice, and so was the children's playground.

Unmotivated, irritated service, cold pizza, and a Caesar salad with cold meat and soggy croutons, only half the size of its original size! The beer was stale, without a head, and the glasses were old and stale. The table was sticky. Terrible!!!

Once again, we had a very good meal; the pizza was excellent. The service was also very friendly; it's always nice to eat there.

This time, the spinach pizza was quite sparsely topped and therefore rather bland. The pizza arrived before the drinks. Maybe one person at the counter isn't enough...? One of the waitresses actually complained about people coming in and then wanting to order something "right away"... When packing up the leftovers, the used napkin was simply thrown onto the plate/ON THE PIZZA, and the chewed-up orange peel was placed in the box/on top of the pizza. It's been better!

The pizzas tasted solid, but I think they could have been made more visually appealing. The plates are too small for the large pizzas, making it difficult to eat, and this leads to me losing my appetite more quickly. Overall, though, it's okay to eat there once in a while.

The food was okay, although the spaghetti carbonara had nothing to do with Italy! Ordering food and drinks took a really long time even though it wasn't busy! One dish came five minutes after all the others! The risotto could have been planned differently in the kitchen so everyone could eat together! I reordered pizza rolls - but they only came after everyone had finished! The service was nice! What bothered me more was the ambience! In the women's restroom, the light above the sink didn't work! There was no plate on the flush button on the last toilet! The whole place seemed a bit run down to me! Sorry, but I won't be back!

We visited this place based on a recommendation. The atmosphere was nice and the menu looked appealing, but nobody paid attention to us. When we mentioned our needs to a waiter, we were told that only one person was responsible for that area. Unfortunately, we left without eating. I don’t plan on coming back. The service was very poor, and the staff were far from being friendly or welcoming.

The food is quite okay, but everything else leaves a lot to be desired. There were maybe a maximum of four tables available during my stay, and yet the food still took forever to arrive. On top of that, I was brought the wrong food. The waitress who served us was also very rude and barely paid any attention to us. When we asked for the bill after paying, she simply ignored us, even though we asked her about it four times. So how does the service and the kitchen work when it gets busy?

We are very satisfied with the quality of the food. It was very busy today, so we had to wait quite a while for our food. Overall, we will definitely visit this L'Osteria again. Maya was very accommodating, warm, and competent.

We went for the all-you-can-eat option. But the way it's set up, it's very difficult to even get full. Here, they managed to bring the first round of pizzas to the table after a good 70 minutes, and the second round arrived after almost 2 hours and 15 minutes. All in all, a rather disappointing experience, but the service was very friendly and attentive!

Three of us spontaneously stopped by for dinner on a Thursday afternoon. There was no wait time, no reservation, and we were able to choose a table according to our preferences. Simply abysmal. We waited almost two hours for the first pizza at the all-you-can-eat pizza place. It's a disgrace. The place wasn't even half full when we ordered. The waitress came by the table about every 30 minutes. The pizza tasted good, but the incredibly long wait is an absolute disgrace! The service is a disaster. I definitely don't recommend coming here again.

What can I say? It wasn't really bad, but it wasn't anything special either. The service was nice and friendly, but if you have to wait over 35 minutes for your drinks to arrive, that's definitely way too long. It took another 20 minutes for the drinks to arrive, then another 10 minutes for the food to arrive, and after a total of 90 minutes, we got our food. It couldn't have been due to the number of customers, because the place was at most one-third full, apparently due to understaffing or overwhelmed staff. The pizzas are huge, everyone knows that, but unfortunately too big. The base is nice and thin, but after half a pizza, the rest is cold. It's best to share one with two people and order another one at short notice. The pasta dishes, on the other hand, are rather modest or insufficient. I ordered tortellini and was absolutely disappointed by the quantity. I really liked the taste, but just 11 tortellini (yes, you could count the amount, the plate was so clear) is really too few. I was told that the amount was weighed and that you always got the same amount; this should definitely be improved. I later received another plate of tortellini (on the house, thank you very much), which was much more generous than the first. I would have been satisfied with that for the first plate, and I was told that they had made the second portion even larger so that I wouldn't be hungry again. I finished the second plate completely. I didn't need dessert after that, but I had already had an appetizer with four bruschettas. This review isn't just for criticism, but to help us improve. We will definitely come back again, but I won't order tortellini unless you change the portion size. Best regards

Today I went to the L'Osteria branch in Castrop-Rauxel with friends, and unfortunately, our visit was very disappointing. While we were aware that the restaurant was very busy and the staff was obviously understaffed—we understand this in principle—the service was generally unreliable: Small requests were repeatedly forgotten, the food was served cold, and when we tried to politely express our concerns, we were unfortunately not met with a friendly or solution-oriented tone. When we asked to speak to the branch manager, the person in charge appeared—but without greeting us in the slightest in a friendly or professional manner. Especially in a situation like this, I would have appreciated a modicum of empathy and customer service. I have enjoyed visiting this branch in the past, but after this experience, we have decided not to return in the future.

We were there for the first time yesterday. Our service was particularly noteworthy. Super friendly and very attentive. I can't understand the negative reviews on this topic. The wait for our order, food, and drinks, was absolutely reasonable. Considering the many other guests, it was really acceptable. The food was very good; perhaps less is sometimes more. The prices are quite high, in my opinion. But unfortunately, everything is getting more expensive all the time. We'd be happy to come back anyway!

We had a wonderful evening, with good food and friendly service, and despite the heat, it was bearable. It was a special gathering for me with people I love. Thank you to everyone for this and for the opportunity to enjoy time together at L'Osteria.

We've been here four times now, and the food has always been delicious. Fair prices and friendly, attentive service. Great salads! Update 2025: The quality has declined. You get a mini salad that really doesn't fill you up, for a lot of money. They don't even offer the typical bread with olive oil here. I asked for it once, and it was reluctantly brought 30 minutes AFTER our meal. It's not really worth coming here. It's a shame, because I actually like the l'osteria concept.

We wanted to sit outside by the playground because of our daughter, so we could order pizza, as we go there often. It started dripping for 10 seconds and after a 30 minute wait a German waitress came because she had served the person closest to us. It's raining, sit inside otherwise we won't serve you, it was warm outside. My mother-in-law then said it's warm outside, we would like to sit outside, the waitress became rude, no then you won't be served, she came to the table without menus because our table was also off to the side, we think she didn't feel like serving us, the waitress became very rude. We got up from the table and went somewhere else to eat, as we have eaten there often, we will avoid it now and go to l'osteria in Marl instead because we have always been served competently there. When we wanted to complain to the manager, the employees inside said you can only speak to the manager with an appointment and that we had been rude to the waitress, the employees there stick together. L'osteria Castrop Rauxel is no longer suitable for families. We always spent over €100 there and we went there often. We experienced such service for the first time two weeks ago. For this reason, I wouldn't recommend families eat there. It's better to drive a little further, like L'osteria Marl or Gelsenkirchen, and get proper service there.

We've actually been to l'osteria every two weeks and have always been well looked after. Occasionally, we've had to wait quite a while for our food, or a side salad, etc., has been forgotten, but that's only human. BUT NOW, we were so rudely NOT served by an employee there that we will NEVER, EVER, EVER set foot in l'osteria in Castrop-Rauxel again! It happened like this: It was a sunny day, and we wanted to eat outside, so we sat outside. The waitress looked at us several times but didn't bring us our menus. While we had already been waiting at our table for over 20 minutes without menus and without ordering drinks, she served the other guests sitting outside and completely ignored us! When she finally came to our table, she simply said in a very cheeky tone, "I'm not serving you outside, it's about to rain!" When we asked why she was serving other customers outside and fussing at us like that, and why the weather was so great! She became increasingly annoyed and said again that she wouldn't serve us outside. We then told her that we were regulars there and had never experienced anything like this before, and that we were leaving because we wanted to sit outside in such sunny weather. She became rude again and then told us to leave. We wanted to complain to the manager on the spot, but this was rejected because you need an appointment for that. The waitress heard about it and then intervened, turning the tables on us as if we were rude customers. It's a shame that Castrop now has such poor staff, even though we've been going there so often and regularly for years and everyone has always been friendly. One wrong employee can ruin everything. Because you've scared us away as regulars!

Beautiful location with a south-facing winter garden. The food is of the usual L'Osteria quality, and the service staff was simply excellent.

Not a single parasol in the blazing sun. We know the food and actually like the place, but we can't say "we don't want you" anymore.

Went here for a family brunch. The buffet selection was decent. Overall, it was quite cozy.

The food was very tasty. Unfortunately, it wasn't as warm or hot as you'd expect from other restaurants. You didn't really have to blow on it. Despite everything, we still enjoyed it a lot. The size of the pizzas and the amount of pasta dishes are okay for the price. It's L'Osteria after all, and you should be aware of that beforehand. The ambience is very inviting and the service makes an effort to make guests feel like they're there and don't have to wait to be noticed. My summary (I hope I spelled that correctly): Keep up the good work and, even if it's not that easy, see how you can serve four people a hot meal at the same time, which at least makes each person want to blow on it.

I can't recommend it. We ordered three Aperol Passion Fruit, and all three tasted stale and expired. Of the three orders, only two arrived. After we asked where the third order was, the server blamed us, saying we should have let them know sooner.

Some of the best pizza in the area. The discount on Pizza Day is great, with a nice atmosphere, very kid-friendly, great restrooms, and plenty of parking, including electric car chargers. My favorite restaurant in the area.

I was a regular customer at L'Osteria for a long time and was always satisfied – the dark-haired employees in particular were always friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, my impression changed on my last visit. The blonde employee with small eyes was very unfriendly, took my order incorrectly and generally seemed inattentive. I also received my takeaway food without cutlery. That was very disappointing and unfortunately not the service I was used to. My order was incorrect; she didn't even ask exactly what type of pasta I wanted. I just gave everything away quickly, even though I had mentioned what I wanted beforehand. She seemed a bit annoyed when I changed my order... well, it's a shame it wasn't very busy, so you could say the employees were very busy and that's why it was like that...

We were there on Mother's Day, and it was a complete disaster, even though not all the tables were occupied. First, we waited a little longer for our order to be taken, which was okay. But then it took at least 20 minutes for our two Cokes to arrive. Then we waited over an hour for our food, even though others who came after us, where a different server was in charge, had already gotten their food. The pizza was relatively cold, and the salad was completely soggy, as if it had been sitting in the dressing for a while, and there were also things missing from the salad that were supposed to be there. Others at the other table also had some complaints. But kudos to the server, who tried to be nice and make the best of it, since he couldn't do anything about the situation.

Always worth a visit! The outdoor seating is truly beautiful and cozy. Daniel's service was excellent—always attentive and courteous. I'll be back ☺️

Hello We went there for brunch today for Mother's Day. Went there around 11 a.m. because we wanted to eat more of the hot food. Not recommended in my opinion. Almost everything was empty and unsightly. Was filled way too late and slowly. And it was nothing like the photos. A clear no to brunch from me. Maybe it was Mother's Day, but that's no excuse for me.
