L'Osteria in Ulm

I already know a few branches of this chain and they are almost all identical, but I missed a little bit of the kick and love when it came to the pizza toppings. The individual ingredients were a bit carelessly thrown into a pile and not well distributed. So the mushroom pile was soggy and didn't taste that good but overall it was ok. Compared to other branches, it tends to be in the lower midfield. In our case, the service was absolutely fine - the only thing that annoys me a bit is the "Americanization" with the tip being 10%, unfortunately I didn't pay attention to that. Overall, it's an average level that you can definitely visit again.

We've loved L'Osteria for a long time and always look forward to our beloved Rucola pizza! But today Chiara especially enchanted us with her wonderful, friendly manner and presence. Thank you, Chiara!

Food very good. Service still has room for improvement. Went there with a larger group. Food was forgotten. When cashing out, positions that had long since been paid for suddenly remained open.

pizza is nice, but (as usual) could’ve used a little more time in the oven. salad is great, i like that they have olive oil and vinegar on the table. staff is really nice, but service can be a little slow. nothing terrible tho :)

Well-attended pizzeria. The pizzas are very large and you can order them split with different toppings. However, the toilet was very dirty. You should clean up every now and then in a restaurant that is doing so well.

We were served quickly even though the restaurant was full. The service staff was friendly and accommodating. The food was quickly at the table and delicious. Since the restaurant was very full, it was noisy so it was difficult to have a conversation, and it was also very hot there.

Great pizza that tastes really delicious, but the quality feels like it's going down a bit. Now I had to change my review again, every time you go there they tell you that something is no longer available. This time no more Diet Coke and no more chicken. Last time there were no onions and no olives. Who works in the warehouse? This is just bad organization!

Delicious food and super friendly service

The food is really excellent, the prices are absolutely fair, and one dish really fills you up. Up until then everything was perfect. However, we had planned to celebrate a birthday and brought a cake for that. The person whose birthday was there didn't know about it - the cake was hidden the whole time to make the moment special. We had actually discussed this with another waiter beforehand: music should be played and the cake should be served with a candle. Unfortunately, the cake was simply placed on the table in a closed box - without music, without a candle and without any special moment. This completely ruined the surprise and the person immediately realized what was going on. That was really disappointing, especially because we put so much effort into planning this moment. What should have been a beautiful and unforgettable moment was unfortunately rather marred by it. It's a shame that the agreement wasn't kept.

Delicious, always recommended. Service very friendly and helpful

Very rude! At the beginning we had coffee, which came quite quickly. Afterwards we waited for over an hour for our food, at some point we asked when it was coming and the service person said she would check, but then she went straight to the break and smoked outside the door... We weren't asked once if we wanted anything else want to drink, but were completely ignored. When we were finally able to order a sparkling water from a service person, it was simply forgotten and we waited 15 minutes for it in vain. We had to let them know again and then we got non-carbonated water... and the highlight was paying. We didn't want to tip at all, but since the pizza was okay, we wanted to give €2. The waitress saw that too, because the device was working, she then re-entered the amount and simply pressed the 10% tip. That was really the highlight, where is it possible for the service to choose its own tip, especially when she saw that we didn't want to give 10%. It was also very loud and stressful in the shop and some of the pizza had very little toppings... we definitely won't be coming back... the L'Osterias in other places are much better!

It's always a pleasure to be here. The service is really good for a large restaurant, the employees are very attentive and very friendly. We are frequent guests at l'Ostereia and everything that has been ordered so far has been really good in terms of quality, freshness, quantity and taste. Gladly again !

Excellent pizza and... great!!! I couldn't eat it all. The pasta is thin and not rubbery, the filling rich. The service is courteous and helpful. Convenient location, near the Münster. I highly recommend.

As is known from all other locations, the food was very tasty. The pizza is actually one of the best. Unfortunately, the only thing that can be criticized is the service. The girls there either fundamentally lack an overview of the location or are completely listless. The plates are taken away as you put the last bite into your mouth. The glasses are served glowing warm from the dishwasher - into which you should pour yourself the iced tea and the leftovers that you want to take with you are joined on the plate by all the cutlery and use napkins from the people sitting at the table. A “standard” friendliness is here despite being clear! Utilization is absolutely lacking. It's a shame because the food is really delicious. We will come back, but with the hope that this lady in particular will not be on duty.

We have already been to a few L'Osterias across Germany. To celebrate my birthday, the two of us came to L'Osteria in Ulm. Despite reservations, we had to wait in line outside for a long time and were jostled and jostled from all sides. When we were finally brought to the table, it was so loud because of all the people that we couldn't talk the whole evening. I ordered an iced tea and realized when I tried it that it was the Zero iced tea. When asked, they took a quick look and said the normal one was off. They should at least inform me about it and ask if I would like to drink something else instead of just serving something wrong! After 40 minutes of waiting, an appetizer (bruschetta) was brought. We've never eaten anything so salty and that's why we left almost everything alone. Then my main course was brought even though my starter wasn't even there! When I asked, they brought everything at once. It's extremely uncomfortable to have to eat 4 dishes at the same time on this small table. Of course, everything was cold and it didn't taste particularly good. We were used to completely different things from other L'Osterias. I was so disappointed and just wanted to leave, but that also turned out to be difficult because we had to wait a long time for the bill. This is definitely not how we imagined my birthday would be :-(.

The pizza is absolutely amazing! I love the Cesare e Polo, but all the others are good too as the dough is thin and crispy. The downside here are the drinks. Either too little or no carbon dioxide in it, or sometimes too much. The art of setting up a tap system has not yet arrived here.

We were a guest on Saturday evening after shopping...probably like many others...an advance reservation is absolutely necessary here in order not to stand on your feet...of course this restaurant is very busy, but I found the hosting unstructured...maybe that was the case also at our seat, as we were constantly exposed to the hustle and bustle of the employees. The service was friendly, but only present with a very long delay, due to the high number of guests. This is where management is called upon to do justice to the situation. Of course, service employees are difficult to find, but many temporary workers are no better than people with less technical experience. The food was good and a lot, as you would expect from this restaurant... the salad I ordered wasn't enough for me for the price... but very tasty... despite all the criticism, we will come back... it's just a restaurant right in the center

Many thanks to the staff for the nice evening! Things happen - like our waitress left the restaurant soon and probably because of that the part of our order was 'doubled'. Capricciosa was wet in the middle - but it was re-done successfully and it was amazingly tasty! We had a nice evening and very grateful to the stuff! I've left tips, leaving a nice review and highly recommend this place. And will return again and again!

Having frequented several L’Osteria locations across Germany, I’ve come to rely on the restaurant chain as a dependable choice for both quality food and service. My previous experiences in Berlin, Düsseldorf, Limburg, Nürnberg, and Munich have consistently met high standards, both in cuisine and in a welcoming atmosphere. Unfortunately, this visit to the Ulm location fell far short of that benchmark. The experience took a surprising turn as soon as I arrived. I was met by two chefs smoking directly outside the main entrance—a rather unprofessional sight for a restaurant of this caliber. As I walked past, one chef flicked a cigarette butt toward my feet, an action that not only came off as careless but also set a poor initial impression. Nonetheless, I chose to continue inside, expecting that the dining experience might make up for this lackluster welcome. Upon entering, I found myself waiting at the door, anticipating being seated as is customary in every other L’Osteria I’ve visited. Yet instead of the warm reception I expected, I was greeted with a brusque remark, asking why I was "standing around" and what I wanted, all in a notably unfriendly tone. This sort of reception felt completely out of character for the brand, especially compared to the welcoming service I’ve experienced elsewhere. At that point, given the overall lack of professionalism and courtesy, I chose to leave and dine elsewhere. I’m genuinely disappointed to see this level of service at L’Osteria Ulm, especially when it contrasts so sharply with the high standards upheld in other locations. I hope that these issues will be addressed so that the Ulm restaurant can offer the same quality and experience that L’Osteria patrons have come to expect across Germany.

Super delicious food, staff also great

The food is delicious but the service is not good. My starter came after the main course and my partner wouldn't have received his meal until half an hour after my meal, but we canceled it because we wanted to eat together. After that the waitresses were unfortunately just unfriendly…

Of course the pizza is unbeatably delicious! Despite everything, I have to say that the waitress unfortunately didn't understand a single word of German... There wasn't a table with space for a stroller, so we were seated directly at the door, where it was very windy and drafty. The pizza came before the drinks and the starter didn't come at all, but ended up being on the bill. Your service was significantly better!

Our visit as a group of three to L'Osteria was completely harmonious. Sebastian served us very courteously. The food was plentiful (huge pizza and other large portions), but also tasted very good! The Conchiglie the Fiume pasta with crayfish is highly recommended. Everything already prepared bite-sized. The lasagne and pizza funghi e prosciutto were also tasty, said the others. I'm looking forward to my next meal here.

Unfortunately we waited about 20 minutes until we were served. The food came surprisingly quickly (unfortunately that's how it tasted) When we had just finished eating we were asked if it could go away and if we would like anything else because quote "I think we're about to close" at 10:15 p.m. (according to Google, the restaurant would have been open until 12:00 a.m.) . Ambiance outdated. Prices too expensive for the quality. Too many staff - but the service took far too long even though there was nothing going on. We won't come a second time.

The ambience is ok. Comfortable, well, too big for that. Pizza is huge, but you can choose two toppings. We had ordered wine, which was first promised, then canceled when it wasn't available. Did someone take pity on you in the basement? to go. Lo and behold: The desired wine was available. The service was friendly and nice. However, I had the feeling that when I was taken care of, I no longer needed “attention”. Conclusion: it was good. But it won't be my favorite Italian.

I expected much more from this chain. Very high noise level even though the restaurant was not full. Customers or delivery services were constantly standing in the middle of the restaurant with their large boxes, waiting for their orders. No fixed service, resulting in long waiting times when ordering and paying. Food was okay, although my vegetarian pizza was more of a Margherita because there was so little toppings on it. The plates are also far too small for the pizzas. The ambience inside and out wasn't appealing either.

Unfortunately, I only read the reviews when we were already sitting in the restaurant and had our first experience of the service. Instead of our ordered beer with alcohol, we got a non-alcoholic beer. And 2 beer glasses were dirty after one had already been exchanged and we had complained about it. We preferred to drink the beer from the bottle. Unfortunately, this L'Osteria is not of as good quality as you would expect from this chain. It's a shame, especially since many people probably have the same experiences with the service etc. when reading the reviews here. So you could just improve the service etc. Unfortunately, the sanitary facilities “rounded off” the “experience”. We were here for the first and last time.

We had to wait a long time for our pizza because the pizzeria was super full because of the Ulm Culture Night, but it was worth the wait. The pizza was exactly how you would imagine a good pizza to be. Super thin, crispy dough, perfectly topped and super tasty. Don't let the high price put you off, a 45cm pizza with salad is great for 2.

Today we want to have lunch on Terrase for 12 people, and the terrace was half empty, we proposed putting 3 tables together and everyone eating together, the boss of Terrase said that wasn't possible, and should we just sit in there and if so We don't want to, then just leave because she has enough customers and doesn't need us as a customer.... very unfriendly, never go there 👎👎

We ordered home once and I really didn't think the food was very good. Today we gave it another chance, we were there, I was thrilled. Price performance is very good, pizza tasted wonderful, burrata was fresh and juicy and the spaghetti carbonara was also very tasty. The service was very nice. We specifically asked for the names, Ivan was our waiter's name. Our son was a little nervous because he was teething and we couldn't sit at the table together because one of us was always carrying him. Ivan said he would like to help us, but didn't know how because he was so small. I just found the idea nice. We'll definitely come back when the tooth is out ☺️

The kitchen is clearly overwhelmed when the house is full. Ordered two pizzas and pasta once, pasta arrived after 15 minutes and there was no trace of the pizza. After 50 minutes, when we asked, the waiter told us that it takes a long time when a lot of people order pizza and it is not possible for the food to arrive at the table at the same time because otherwise the pasta would be like “stone” and the pizza would be hot. You could also tell customers before ordering that the pizza will take longer, like in any other restaurant. Then we packed up the pizza and left

The four of me had lunch with the family and ordered two pizzas and two pasta dishes. Unfortunately, the bruschetta starter was just warm white bread slices like from a bakery, with tomato pieces that were very watery. The lady who brought two noodle main courses just said: who gets which spaghetti? She wasn't particularly fluent in German and didn't understand that we ourselves don't know what dish is. She had to ask another colleague what the dishes were called so we could identify them. Once that was sorted out, we only had to wait 5 minutes for the two pizzas. The bases of the pizzas were very thin, which didn't quite suit my taste, but the toppings were very good. Unfortunately, the atmosphere was very loud due to the many visitors and not particularly comfortable in my opinion. However, our assigned waitress was very friendly and not intrusive. I will still come back at some point and try another dish to give the place another chance, maybe just the pizza isn't for me.

Food was really great. What really bothered us was the noise there. You couldn't really have a conversation. The toilets weren't that great anymore, due to the many guests. And the service, which is understandable, wasn't very attentive.

If I could give out negative points for the service, I would do it immediately. If you can wait two to three hours for service and food, this is the place for you. Food is good. Service absolutely bottomless - honest. Go eat somewhere else for the money. No signage and then tried to take a tip even though I didn't want to give one. The food (pizza) was super tasty. Unfortunately the drinks we ordered, a few Cola, Fanta and Sprite were ALL non-carbonated and simply didn't taste like anything. There is a lot of room for improvement here. Edit: The problem with the drinks is still there, they don't taste like anything. They certainly work with 2 liter bottles. So, one star is too many.

Our reservation was no longer available and we had to sit inside in 30 degree temperatures with no air conditioning. Drinks took a very long time, yeast had lost all foam. Unfortunately it didn't taste good either. Exactly the same with the second drink delivery. Dishes arrived very far apart, the first ones were finished by the time the last ones had gotten their food. Pizzas extremely oily. I had to be asked to pay 3 times. No recommendation from us.

The lasagna would have been perfect. It would be good if all waiters could take orders. We had to wait half an hour for our order to be taken. It would be desirable to improve the service.

The food at L'Osteria Ulm is really excellent! The pizzas are particularly delicious – large, crispy and perfectly topped. The service is absolutely top: super friendly, attentive and extremely fast. You feel very welcome here as a guest. Absolutely recommended!

Unfortunately the worst Losteria I have visited so far.. In contrast to the other stores, the food was mediocre. The staff walked past empty plates and glasses 2-3 times. They didn't ask if there was anything else they wanted or something similar. Waiting time when ordering drinks was very long at the beginning...

Hello everyone, there were 9 of us here today to eat, the yeast was unfortunately completely stale, we left it standing, instead of fuel I put water on the pasta. The first thing that came when we were finished with it was that the rest got their pizza, which was floating in the oil. We had to let them know 5 times to pay. Drinks sit on the counter for ages and are not brought. Will not visit the restaurant again and will not recommend it to others.

We were there with our children. I can only report good things. The service and the food were simply top.

Disappointing service and extremely long waiting time Four of us went to this restaurant today to have a pizza and unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. After we placed our order, the drinks came quickly, but we had to wait over an hour for our pizzas! What was particularly annoying was that all the guests who came after us and had also ordered received their food well before us. It's an absolute disgrace how the guests' time is treated here. As a group you simply don’t feel valued. Due to this negative experience, I unfortunately cannot recommend the restaurant.

The waiters did everything great, and the chefs probably did too. Nevertheless, the manager probably made such terrible decisions, which you really can't afford. The pizza was okay, but big - but almost 15 euros?? But the quality was really suffering; it seemed like no yeast had been used. The whole thing was suspicious to me. The fruit drinks cost almost 5 euros and are obviously diluted, I'm kidding myself. Of course I understand that most restaurants try to earn a bonus with drinks in particular, but for the price please just give me the normal thing. The fact that the store was nice and the employees were good saved it.

Normally we like to go to l'osteria... here we were disappointed. Completely unmotivated staff, unfortunately the pizza was still doughy, which I politely complained about. Annoyed interaction best describes the situation. We don't come here anymore.

A pizza as it should be - super tasty😋 The salad with an ingenious dressing and the crowning glory is definitely our waiter Sebastian, we will definitely be back. It was a very nice and delicious evening, thank you very much

We were there in a larger group and were not satisfied for several reasons. The restaurant does not meet the L'Osteria standard: - Cruet not provided on the tables - generally not set up, we had to collect our cutlery ourselves, which is unreasonable for a group of this size, and there wasn't even enough cutlery on the table - very slow service (waited an hour for food) - my noodles were very overcooked and mushy - Being served wine in beer glasses “Unfortunately there are no glasses, sorry” - Staff at the bar are constantly shouting at the top of their voices. Obviously stressed, but then you should still be considerate and not increase the already very high noise level in the restaurant even further - Toilets not as nice and modern as in other L'Osteria restaurants

Pizza was good, but there weren't enough tomatoes on it. Finely sliced, but not enough!

The l'Osteria brand offers standard Italian food. It's acceptable if you enjoy large, typical pizzas. Why the low rating? We visited with a group of nine, and here are the reasons for our poor experience: The staff (waiters) appeared overwhelmed by the few occupied tables: - Our waiter was inexperienced and seemed to lack proper training on the menu items and the smart ordering device. - One dish was forgotten, and the waiter incorrectly claimed it was our fault for not ordering it. - We requested an extra plate three times, but it was never delivered. Eventually, I had to retrieve it myself. There is an online table reservation option, great! However, it did not work as expected. We received a generic email response referencing COVID-19 regulations, even though it was summer 2024. I never received a confirmation or decline of the reservation request, I have the impression that no human ever reviewed our reservation request. In the end, we spontaneously went to the restaurant and managed to get a table, which was fine. Additionally, the bathroom facilities could use some attention, as they have seen better days. The food was fine: the pizzas were okay, but the salads were lacking some promised ingredients. Overall, this situation seems symptomatic of a need for improved management. We will not return.

I think it's great that the pizzas are so big, we often share one between the two of us. Unfortunately, on our last visit it took a long time before the staff even noticed us and I once ordered lasagna and wasn't convinced by it.

We had to wait a little longer, we know the chain well and we don't eat at this restaurant often. My wife, about 30, had to throw up that evening and she only ate 1/4 of the 4 Seasons pizza... I had a stomach ache all night. Can't say exactly what it was, but it was definitely because of the food in the restaurant. 3 stars because the chain is actually good, otherwise the rating would be worse. We had a good time. But we had a problem while paying the amount. Instead of half pizza cost, added full pizza cost. But later we understand and pay between friends. Overall okay.

Had dinner with the family again today, as usual, always good service, quality and friendliness... but that was far from the case, I'm from Ulm myself and I know it completely differently than it is run today. After waiting for almost 40 minutes, our pizzas finally arrived. Not only were they all cold, but every pizza leaked oil, and not a little. However, the trigger for this review was the service, which was completely poor, unfriendly even when ordering and the entire process. Drinks were ordered and didn't come, only after repeated requests did the wrong drinks arrive and one was ignored at all. When we asked, they said the drink was empty, but no one told us that!!!!!!! The little one's high chair was covered up so I definitely don't know what it was like. When I asked if I could clean it off, I was again greeted very kindly and didn't really pay any attention to it. Now one or the other may say yes, it can happen, it's normal, it's stressful, yes, but not especially when there was really nothing going on and it was also 4 p.m. lunchtime. Something like this might happen during evening service, but there should never be a lack of friendliness!!!!!!

The 2 stars are ONLY for the bruschetta, which was quite ok. The mixed salad was already half wilted and the salad dressing was boring. Unfortunately I can't say anything about the pizza - after 2 (!) hours we still didn't have our pizza, we paid and left (still hungry). The garden restaurant was completely occupied, but in my opinion it was... especially because Lieferando deliveries were made every minute. So in the future: Order from the park bench, then you have a better chance of getting full. ;-)

Gute Pizza wie immer. Heute mit dem für mich neuen Kreditkartensystem bezahlt, dass automatisch 10%, 15%, 20% Trinkgeld vorschlägt. Ein anderer Betrag ist mit Zusatzaufwand für den Kunden verbunden. Sind wir in den USA, wo dass Trinkgeld weitgehend die Bezahlung ausmacht? The arugula pizza tasted delicious and, at my request, was also crispy! The ambience is very pleasant and beautiful. Sebastian was extremely kind and friendly and responded to every request. We didn't have to wait long for the food! Really great. Can only recommend it to everyone!
