Lodge – Beef’s Finest in Kronberg im Taunus

Far too expensive for the quality of the food: The piece of meat I was served was overcooked on one side and still raw on the other. You can then choose your own side dishes separately—which is fine. What's not okay is that they're each too large in quantity, so it would have been better to share them between two people. The waitress didn't think it necessary to point out that, with our group of eight people, we were practically ordering enough food to feed ten people. Orders were also mixed up. Last but not least, you have to make compromises in terms of comfort: The restaurant is a hall, the place is buzzing, and the noise there is accordingly loud.

Great quality of all the food, whether fillet or fries. It was really excellent.

We were here for a birthday dinner and were really looking forward to the food. As a starter there were variations of tuna. There were three variants. Unfortunately, they were all on the stove for too long - it was the driest tuna I've ever eaten. Since we were starving and had to wait a bit, we ate it. Under normal circumstances this goes back. I recreated it at home last week with tuna from Metro and it was flawless, tender, juicy. Therefore the dry fish goes to the cook. Fucked up. As a main course, the 300g fillet was supposed to make up for everything; my friend at the table had the combination of lamb and beef. Here came the next failure - the piece of meat was as medium as it should be, but the beef tasted terrible in both dishes. It had nothing of a delicious fillet. It was creamy and tasted bad. Didn't eat it. Unfortunately our waitress didn't come to ask if everything was okay. I only reported the matter when it was cleared away and then refused to make any compensation. The evening was over and the group had had enough. They took my fillet off the bill. However, I don't need it anymore. Nice try, too bad.

A lot has already been said here! We've already been to Lodge! Never really had anything to complain about! Always top quality meat. Great side dishes too! Fast, attentive service. We had a very nice seat by the window today. But the prices are really high. Paid over 500 euros for 7 people this evening. With dessert and coffee etc. Nevertheless, for us the lodge belongs to the top league in Frankfurt. Highly recommended!

We had breakfast there. The breakfast menu is rather “clear” - I would like to see a little more choice (perhaps also for vegans). We waited a full 40 minutes for our breakfast (2x sweet & easy and a scrambled egg), even though we were the only guests there. BUT: The service was super friendly, the scrambled eggs were delicious and the croissants were very fresh. The ambience is really special and very beautiful and the view is amazing. Who can see zebras, wildebeests and giraffes at breakfast? And if you have time to enjoy it all, the 40 minutes of waiting are quickly forgotten. We felt very comfortable and would love to come back 😊

First let's get to the food: That was really great! The side dishes were also very generous. The meat was really of good quality. It would be nice to get more information. For example, whether it is grass-fed, organic or the country of origin. Dessert was really amazing. Disadvantages: ->High price ->Staff could be better trained on wine & meat selection. Very, very excellent, and I recommend visiting it. It has wonderful lamb, potato slices, and then New York cake. There is a delay in ordering due to crowding and because the food is prepared after the customer’s order.

Exquisite but worth every penny!

The starters were relatively large, which surprised us positively. The meat was delicious and so were the sides. However, I think transit for the Sides is very high. This could be a bit cheaper in my opinion. Basically, I would like there to be free table water in Germany. But that is another topic.

Eat: Italian Burger: Tastes good, a bit small for the price, could have been a little warmer. Sirloin steak: Average quality like you can get at our Italian restaurant around the corner. I expect more from a steakhouse here, especially given the price. Positive: The desired degree of doneness was maintained. Supplements: Sweet potato fries: Very tasty. Vegetables: Asian seasoned and also very tasty. We found the price for the side dishes to be reasonable and the size of the portion pleasantly surprised us. Service: OK. In a restaurant (especially in this price range) I expect that the customer will be asked if everything is ok a few minutes after the food has been served. Unfortunately that wasn't the case for us. We were there with a baby, which is probably why we were assigned a table without a tablecloth and with crumbs on the floor, while other tables were covered with tablecloths. Positive: We asked for bread for our little one. We were given a bread basket which was not charged. Ambience: Nice building with good views and open plan design. We sat by the window with a view of the zebras. The other animals were probably not in the enclosure because of the weather. We liked it. In the background you could see... catch a glimpse of Frankfurt city. Conclusion: Great ambience, but everything else didn't really convince us in terms of price and performance ratio.

After we had paid our inexpensive bill for 8 people and had added a little tip for our waiter, a waiter who suddenly came to see how much tip we had put in (probably the restaurant manager) found that it wasn't enough and revealed it to us in your face telling you what to do with the small banknote. Customer is king is apparently not a priority at LODGE in Kronberg. Danger!

A friendly team. People who love their job. I would like to thank Mr. Orhan and Ms. Fiona for their interest and concern. Rinderfiletcarpaccio, Chateaubriand, 400gr. Sirloin, 300gr. Regular Cut Filet, Hähnchen mit Pommes, Haussalat and Pommes Frites were absolutely delicious. I recommend. You will be very pleased when you go. Luckily it was next to the Opel Zoo, it was snowing and the Gazelles were wandering around. It was a very kind thought of them to put candles next to the Apfelstrudel because we went for my wife's birthday. We were very pleased with its view, calmness, peaceful and decent environment, caring staff and delicious food. It was my first time at the lodge with my team. We were not only fascinated by the great food, but also by the beautiful atmosphere. The lodge team was very welcoming and very service minded. Special ambience, albeit quite expensive. Service was good but not very good, could be a little warmer. One had the impression that they were a bit listless. The food - we had lady's cut each and truffle fries, small. Salad and carpaccio - everything was very good. The espresso is slightly watery. The ambience is, as usual, pleasant and original, something special. Prices are as usual high, but the location and quality are right. It would be nice to be a little more friendly, as most of the waitresses seem very businesslike. It's not so comfortable in the front area, but it's better in the back.

A lot has already been written. I honestly have a mixed experience with this. Top location and hard to beat with a view of the zoo, Kronberg and distant views of Frankfurt. We were there for a celebration. Pleasant champagne reception. Table decorations and places perfect. Also suitable for wheelchairs. Starters platter very generous and with top dishes. Among other things, beef tartare 5* and tuna 5*, shrimp and scallops, on the other hand, p. overcooked. Actually enough in terms of quantity. The portion sizes of the main course were completely excessive. It would have been nice to have pointed this out. Very large portions of everything, even by American standards. One side dish is enough for 2-4 people as an example. Wines very good. Service attentive. Where does meat come from please? Unfortunately it doesn't say on the menu whether I had organic, US beef or regional or whatever. This could be added to the prices and requirements. But then I didn't ask. Everything was beautifully prepared. My rib eye medium rare was good and juicy. The fillet medium was already too done. It's a shame then. One wine had cork. Bottle was changed without any problems. Thank you very much. Overall, there is still some room for improvement.

After years we tried again. The steaks are good, the side dishes are ok but nothing special. Depending on where you sit you have a good view, unfortunately we got the only table in the back room in the middle of the room, even though about half of the tables by the windows were free. We thought we were reserved, but most of them weren't occupied the whole evening. That being said, we haven't experienced worse service at such a high-priced restaurant in a long time. We were immediately asked for water, which came after a good 15 minutes. Then ask for an order. He neither knew afterwards who ordered what, nor did he serve the ladies first or put the drinks on the table at random. When paying, he entered an amount into the credit card machine. When I asked for the bill, he was very surprised and tried to print it. It will be a long time before we try again.

We were there on New Year's Eve and it was a lovely evening! The service (the man who served us was friendly and simply pleasant) was top (many restaurants underestimate that!), the food too and the dessert...simply delicious, and the espresso was served quite exceptionally on a tray full of espresso beans, great Idea! We just felt right at home, thank you!

Ambience was quite good and the people were very nice and friendly. The waiting time for the main course was okay but not for the starter and night course. It took too much. Despite the starter and side dishes being good, they are very expensive and the price/performance ratio is poor. Not worth it We ate two rib eyes and they were delicious. Nevertheless, when I compare the Lodge with other steakhouses, the extra price (+50% approximately) is not worth it.

I often go to the Opel Zoo & treat myself once a month I treat myself to a nice steak or a burger in this wonderful restaurant. The view from one the round tables are always magical. Then worry the employees & mostly the guests for that, one thing special atmosphere prevails. The lodge shows that the pearls of gastronomy still exist.

If the guest complains that the good and expensive meat is well done and not medium as desired, one would think that the waiter in this price range would respond to it and not contradict it. The restaurant was relatively empty at lunchtime and the food was supposed to be served quickly.... Unfortunately, we waited over 25 minutes for our steaks! Waiters were not particularly friendly and were more busy playing with their cell phones. In the future we will eat steaks elsewhere for this price range.

- 5* The food is top without a doubt. - 3* The service seems very overloaded for the many tables, but nice. The only thing that was unusual for me was that you had to wait until drinks and food could be ordered together. - 2* But we were most disappointed by the ambience. Unfortunately we sat in the middle of the aisle, which may have been due to my late reservation. But if you have a restaurant right next to the Opel Zoo, everything is in place for the ambience to score points. Unfortunately it is indescribably loud here, so one would wish for a few acoustic elements. The price-performance ratio becomes blurred when you charge +€50 for a steak, but the whole thing presents itself as if you want to process as many people as quickly as possible. All in all it was ok but we won't be coming back.

Wir sind (seit 10 Jahren) so im Tonus 2-3 mal im Jahr im Lodge essen und fanden es immer hervorragend. Diesmal hatte mein Mann den Ribeye 400gr., unser Kind ein Hamburger classic und ich das Lammkarree. Obwohl wir Medium gewünscht hatten, waren mehrere Karreestücke von mir hart wie Schuhsohle. Das Fleisch von meinem Mann durch und das Hamburgerfleisch meiner Tochter trocken und hart und ungenießbar wie Pappe. Beim Abräumen fragte der Ober, ob alles gut war- als wir uns im Detaill verwundert und enttäuscht geäußert haben, hat er nichts sagen können und hat unsere Beschwerde nicht weitergegeben und es hat sich auch keiner bei uns entschuldigt. Echt übel bei so einem Location :(

We were there with wedding guests. We had expressed the wish that our guests would each receive a menu without prices, that worked, but we had different menus and our guests found the dishes on different pages. Except for this small problem, everything was fine, the food was great. Unfortunately, garlic is often used in food; if it is freshly cooked, you would think that you could do without this ingredient. But unfortunately it didn't work either. There are quite a few without garlic, so it's all good. It just makes you wonder.

It is located right in front of the river and the restaurant is spacious. The downside is that the parking lot is a bit small, so it may be difficult to park during busy times.

A special place for special food. The view of the Opelzoo is the absolute highlight of this restaurant. However, we only ever ate there after the zoo closed, so I could imagine that it could be relatively noisy during the day. But I definitely recommend getting there before dark so that you don't miss the view. You should definitely make a reservation to be sure to get a table. My husband loves lobster, we stated this when making the reservation and a lobster will be provided. So there is real surf n turf. The steaks are of incredibly great quality and the steak sauce is a delight. We didn't try the burgers, but all the starters we tried were also really good. The staff is friendly, courteous and highly professional. In fact, the lodge is an upscale establishment - and that shows in every respect. I was extremely happy about an extremely flexible kitchen. After I asked the service about an intolerance to the dessert and discovered that it was unsuitable for me, I was simply served a version of my favorites that I could tolerate. For that we get 5+ stars and a huge thank you

Very good food and you are served very quickly

Nice steakhouse, ambience with a great view. The house has excellent waitresses who are very welcoming and friendly. Everything tasted very good, the fries, the Caesar salad, etc. Only the main player, the steaks, couldn't keep up with the service and the atmosphere. They weren't first class. Filet steak was rolled and tough...rib eye wasn't great but OK.

Had classic burger, that was a disappointment. Cheese not melted, on top of it mayo , between the buns weird sautéed onion, tasteless patty. Fries for an extra charge at McDonald’s level. Very expensive. Although restaurant was mostly empty, the weiters could not decide who will take our order. Location is nice, but will not eat there again.

You can go there, especially for the ambience and the view of the zoo, in the summer with a seat by the window. This wish was also fulfilled when we made our reservation. (Incidentally, during our visit, the animals were put in their cages at 7:30 p.m. and were then no longer visible.) You don't necessarily have to come for the burgers. The side salad was good, the burgers (spicy and vegetarian) were OK, but nothing special and in our opinion too expensive. The normal fries were rather bad for €7.90. We would rate the food 4 stars with one point deducted for the high prices. There is a plus point for the location and the good service.

Visiting mom from states and wanted to take her to have a nice steak for her bday. Everything started great! Place is nice had a love view of an open area, though no animals, but it was a later dinner… server came took our drink and food orders… brought the drinks and that’s the last time we came to the table… but steak was way under cooked so I waited for server to come back so we can fix it… which he never did… no one did! The filets were also the toughest I’ve eaten… especially T what’s supposed to be high end… server came to clear our dishes… I informed him we hadn’t seen our server again and my steak is not ok. At this point everyone is done eating… so no I don’t want it now… just take it off my bill. They did do that, but again… no server… not even a visit from the manager. Not the kind of service I’m accustomed to in this type of establishment. Over 200 for 3 people.. after my steak was taken off and 3 small beers. I visit every year and this will not be a place we will dine in again.

We think the spices and steak sauce used are unique, but the quality of the meat has also remained consistently very good over the years. As in every company, there is fluctuation and depending on who you are served by, the above can occur. Plus points are lost. Ultimately, the best product is no good if the service is not good. Unfortunately, the last two times we had very long waiting times before we could place the orders, even though the store was relatively empty. In some cases, orders were forgotten and only brought when requested again. We hope this does not become a regular occurrence. Otherwise, you can enjoy a nice lunch or dinner with a view of the zoo.

I have rarely had such a bad experience in a restaurant. The food was absolutely inedible and did not correspond to the high prices that were charged for it. A perfectly normal burger without any side dish costs 20 euros - for bread, some minced meat and a piece of cheese. For the money I would have expected much better quality. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Great ambience but especially the vegetarian food is mediocre at best. Quality and price are disproportionate to each other. The staff is slow and inattentive. The statement "we have fish for the vegetarians." should no longer occur in an upscale restaurant in 2024. Even looking at the zoo doesn't help anymore.

Were guests today. The food was good, but the service was subpar. A drink was ordered several times and only brought when asked. Afterwards we weren't even asked if we would like something more to drink. When we asked for salt and pepper we were completely ignored. I then go to the cash register to pay, otherwise we would still be sitting there. In response to my criticism, the answer from the waiter was that there were only two people on the terrace, one of whom was stubborn and the other completely blind. Sorry, but if I don't want/expect service, I'll go to the kebab shop around the corner and not have to pay €180 for two pieces of meat. Strangely enough, the “Sylter” audience was looked after much better.

Delicious & high quality steaks. The service is excellent, as it must be in such an atmosphere. The salads were also excellent. Great dressing & generous steaks - these are buttery tender and fried to perfection. Be sure to make a reservation, especially on the weekend - there is of course a lot of activity where it tastes good. Not cheap in terms of price, but completely justified!

The ambience is unique, with a direct view of the “savanna enclosure” of the Opel Zoo. You can see zebras, wildebeests, impalas and giraffes. A first-class view, especially for children and adults who are interested in African wild animals. I was there at lunchtime and have to say that I was completely satisfied with my visit. Service was quick and courteous right from the start. My little daughter received her Fanta very quickly, as well as her main course. I had the fillet (regular cut) which was fried to perfection (rare). Meat quality is also top notch. Definitely worth the price. The truffle puree was also very good. You could immediately tell that the emphasis here is on freshness and quality. We will definitely come again, but in the evening for a dinner for two with a unique view of the “African savannah”.

A great location to end the evening in a beautiful atmosphere. The view invites you to linger. I thought the side salad was great because the dressing harmonized very well. I'm not normally a burger fan, but I can highly recommend the Lodge Classic. The service is excellent. A reservation is recommended here.
