Very dog ​​friendly restaurant. Inexpensive food.

Great location, beautiful ambience, fantastic view and incredibly good steaks!

We wanted to go out to eat after the zoo around 2 p.m. but were turned away because there weren't enough staff, which was a real shame 😔

You can go there, especially for the ambience and the view of the zoo, in the summer with a seat by the window. This wish was also fulfilled when we made our reservation. (Incidentally, during our visit, the animals were put in their cages at 7:30 p.m. and were then no longer visible.) You don't necessarily have to come for the burgers. The side salad was good, the burgers (spicy and vegetarian) were OK, but nothing special and in our opinion too expensive. The normal fries were rather bad for €7.90. We would rate the food 4 stars with one point deducted for the high prices. There is a plus point for the location and the good service.

The service wasn't friendly. The waiters were very listless. I didn't like the burger at all, but it cost just under €20. The meat smelled very strongly and unfortunately I could only eat half of the burger. A waitress was very polite. The rest wasn't good at all. 👎

If you love meat, you're in culinary heaven here. Everything cooked perfectly, served wonderfully by Fiona, and the chocolate dessert was another dream.

Visiting mom from states and wanted to take her to have a nice steak for her bday. Everything started great! Place is nice had a love view of an open area, though no animals, but it was a later dinner… server came took our drink and food orders… brought the drinks and that’s the last time we came to the table… but steak was way under cooked so I waited for server to come back so we can fix it… which he never did… no one did! The filets were also the toughest I’ve eaten… especially T what’s supposed to be high end… server came to clear our dishes… I informed him we hadn’t seen our server again and my steak is not ok. At this point everyone is done eating… so no I don’t want it now… just take it off my bill. They did do that, but again… no server… not even a visit from the manager. Not the kind of service I’m accustomed to in this type of establishment. Over 200 for 3 people.. after my steak was taken off and 3 small beers. I visit every year and this will not be a place we will dine in again.

We have been visiting this store regularly for about six years. We think the spices and steak sauce used are unique, but the quality of the meat has also remained consistently very good over the years. As in every company, there is fluctuation and depending on who you are served by, the above can occur. Plus points are lost. Ultimately, the best product is no good if the service is not good. Unfortunately, the last two times we had very long waiting times before we could place the orders, even though the store was relatively empty. In some cases, orders were forgotten and only brought when requested again. We hope this does not become a regular occurrence. Otherwise, you can enjoy a nice lunch or dinner with a view of the zoo.

Great ambience but especially the vegetarian food is mediocre at best. Quality and price are disproportionate to each other. The staff is slow and inattentive. The statement "we have fish for the vegetarians." should no longer occur in an upscale restaurant in 2024. Even looking at the zoo doesn't help anymore.

I have rarely had such a bad experience in a restaurant. The food was absolutely inedible and did not correspond to the high prices that were charged for it. A perfectly normal burger without any side dish costs 20 euros - for bread, some minced meat and a piece of cheese. For the money I would have expected much better quality. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this restaurant.

A wonderful location. With a view of the Opelzoo. You can watch giraffes, wildebeests and zebras while enjoying the excellent food (e.g. delicious steaks, top wines). Upscale gastronomy with corresponding prices, but it's worth it. Staff was very friendly and attentive.

We had a very nice seat by the window today. But the prices are really high. Paid over 500 euros for 7 people this evening. With dessert and coffee etc. Nevertheless, for us the lodge belongs to the top league in Frankfurt. We recommend!

Were guests today. The food was good, but the service was subpar. A drink was ordered several times and only brought when asked. Afterwards we weren't even asked if we would like something more to drink. When we asked for salt and pepper we were completely ignored. I then go to the cash register to pay, otherwise we would still be sitting there. In response to my criticism, the answer from the waiter was that there were only two people on the terrace, one of whom was stubborn and the other completely blind. Sorry, but if I don't want/expect service, I'll go to the kebab shop around the corner and not have to pay €180 for two pieces of meat. Strangely enough, the “Sylter” audience was looked after much better.

Delicious & high quality steaks. The service is excellent, as it must be in such an atmosphere. The salads were also excellent. Great dressing & generous steaks - these are buttery tender and fried to perfection. Be sure to make a reservation, especially on the weekend - there is of course a lot of activity where it tastes good. Not cheap in terms of price, but completely justified!

The ambience is unique, with a direct view of the “savanna enclosure” of the Opel Zoo. You can see zebras, wildebeests, impalas and giraffes. A first-class view, especially for children and adults who are interested in African wild animals. I was there at lunchtime and have to say that I was completely satisfied with my visit. Service was quick and courteous right from the start. My little daughter received her Fanta very quickly, as well as her main course. I had the fillet (regular cut) which was fried to perfection (rare). Meat quality is also top notch. Definitely worth the price. The truffle puree was also very good. You could immediately tell that the emphasis here is on freshness and quality. We will definitely come again, but in the evening for a dinner for two with a unique view of the “African savannah”.

A great location to end the evening in a beautiful atmosphere. The view invites you to linger. I thought the side salad was great because the dressing harmonized very well. I'm not normally a burger fan, but I can highly recommend the Lodge Classic. The service is excellent. A reservation is recommended here.

Very nice, upscale restaurant. The main focus is on steaks, but of course there are other things too! The explanation of the different types of meat, which takes place at the table, is really nice. A piece of meat for each type is brought along on a cart and explained. Everything was fried to perfection, super tender and delicious! The side dish, which you can/must choose yourself, was also fantastic. We can highly recommend this restaurant. I would also like to highlight the view... you look at the savanna outdoor enclosure of the Opelzoo! Antelopes, giraffes and zebras can be observed.

Very nice place for fine dining, view of an enclosure with wildebeests in the zoo. Service was extremely courteous, food was great. Prices are high, but also reasonable for every now and then.

The ambience and service are great, but 40 euros for 200g of meat alone without any side dish is unreasonable. We are aware that everything has become more expensive, but this is not organic quality. Otherwise everything was great.

The prices have now become very high, which is no longer in proportion to the performance offered. The service was mediocre and frequently asked if it should be more, which seemed unreasonable given the high prices. The quality of the food was good, but the dishes, especially the meat, were not brought to the table hot. The ambience was not pleasant and quiet due to several barking dogs. Overall, for me, the restaurant is no longer a top restaurant in the Vordertaunus.

Went back to the lodge with friends and had a wonderful evening Enjoy good food and good service. I particularly recommend the cappuccino as a starter with the best thing I have had in recent years. The main course has something for every meat lover. For us, the lodge is the best steakhouse in the Rhine-Main area and we would love to come back.

Overpriced and nothing special Overpriced restaurant with mediocre quality, located directly at the Opel Zoo with a great view of the giraffe/zebra enclosure. However, we were there in the evening and all the animals were already inside. Food: went like this. Ordered steak and my girlfriend likes medium rare. Medium has arrived. We then commented on this, and the waitress then discussed with us that it was medium-rare. I had medium and it looked identical. After insisting that we didn't agree, the steak was taken away and a new one was prepared. You can guess how this turned out - it was rare. My girlfriend didn't want to complain again and ate it like that. When a restaurant offers prices like this, I expect the steaks to be cooked PERFECTLY. However, this is not the case here. Every Blockhouse Restaurant in Frankfurt makes better steaks! The two of us paid around 170 euros with a starter, two main courses and a dessert. Bottom line: we tried it once, but it will stay that way. Too expensive, too bad, only the location is great.

Very expensive, but excellent meat quality. We had the filet mignon with pepper sauce. The meat was fried as requested, very tender, lean and great taste. Friendly, attentive service. No rush, relaxed atmosphere. A beautiful view over the Opelzoo to the Frankfurt skyline. The chairs alone take some getting used to and are a bit wobbly. Not for every day due to the high prices, but recommended for a special occasion.

Unfortunately overrated, the price-performance ratio is not right at all. Bad pieces of meat, everything very very fatty especially the fries with truffle but also the starters and the pepper sauce. Unfortunately just a great atmosphere… Never again :/

A feeling like being at a lodge in Africa. Always great!

The restaurant is located on the hillside, with a view of the giraffe enclosure. We had a seat by the window inside. The service was good, the employees were quick. Starter: The tartare was very tasty and reasonably priced. Steak: Unfortunately, 400g of ribeye was disappointing. The plate was very hot, but the meat arrived at the table just under lukewarm, so I had the steak go back halfway through and put it on the grill again for a moment. To be honest, that's a shame, especially with a steak that shouldn't happen. Despite the €65 for 400g, the quality is noticeably worse than in comparable steakhouses in Frankfurt. The 200g fillet steak was also “okay” but I’ve eaten better here too. In the end, in my opinion, it was more of a “Blockhouse” level of meat. The burgers were delicious, as were the fries. The location was something different, so all in all it was okay - but if you expect great meat quality, you should probably pay €20 more and go to a different restaurant. Unfortunately, the giraffes finish work at 5 p.m., so when you eat you can see an empty enclosure - but the restaurant can't do anything about that, this is just for your information.

The meat is great, we had someone with us who only wanted fish or vegetarian, so the choice was a bit difficult. We were annoyed by the service and the prices. Bad table, even though there was a lot free. Cards were thrown on the table and not even asked for drinks. Also no asking what it was like. It's a shame, we used to be here more often, but if you don't come from Kronberg/Königstein - you should think carefully about it.

Tremendous meat dishes, super atmosphere, delightful view

It is an exceptional restaurant in an exceptional location. The food is excellent and the service is attentive, quick and friendly.

An overpriced restaurant with terrible quality in a really great ambience with a view of the giraffe/zebra enclosure! After our visit to the Opel Zoo, we made reservations at the lodge. We were 5 adults and 2 children and were allowed to sit outside. First we were given 2 bottles of water. It then took forever until we received the cards and were then served. We were almost ignored. In general it can be said that the service was subpar and overall unfriendly. Drinks were tasty and reasonably priced; the large passion fruit spritzer (€4.5) is worth highlighting. The food, on the other hand, was subpar at these high prices. The beef fillets were not done to the right degree and were sometimes stringy. With my mix of lamb and beef, you basically couldn't eat the lamb because it consisted almost entirely of fat. A man at the next table also complained about this. The sauces were okay, nothing special. Desserts were average, but reasonably priced. All in all, we would never come here again. At these prices (€70-90 per person) you can find really great restaurants in the Frankfurt area.

Food is very tasty, great portions, very friendly service and great ambience.

We have been guests several times. There is something on the menu for every occasion. However, the slightly higher price level is reflected in the perfection of the overall concept. Sometimes you're a bit unlucky with the service, but the well-thought-out ambience and the impeccable food (we had the beef steak, filet mignon, as well as the appetizer platter and the sheep's cheese rolls, the homemade sauces are awesome) form a well-rounded concept. In our experience it is as complicated as it is simple, you just have to talk. We've never had a single mishandling when things were brought up. On the contrary, you quickly notice that the head of the package (black shirt) immediately tries to find a solution to make the evening perfect. You can tell that the staff is passionate about it. PS.: we are often there between lunch and evening, there is less going on and you can fully enjoy the view.

The food, service and ambience are great. It is an absolute recommendation to go there. If you want to take someone out luxuriously, you should go there. ;)

All customer requests were fulfilled. Meat cooked to perfection.

The meat was perfect. However, the Rösti that came with it was black on the bottom. The sweet potatoes for this were partly mushy. And in a restaurant in this price range you should also expect that the side dishes are delivered relatively at the same time as the main course (steak). And this was at a “off-peak time” when only 3 families were present. All in all, my expectations were not met and I can get a perfectly grilled steak cheaper elsewhere. All that remains is the unique view of giraffes, zebras and co, and that doesn't justify the price of more than 7 euros for a portion of fries.

The steak is delicious. Steak is better than burgers. I ordered sirloin steak, but it was a bit tough for my child, so I want to try filet next time.

The category for point deduction is not clear. Great ambience, courteous unobtrusive service and great food. What's really annoying are the zoo visitors who use the toilet and make a pilgrimage through the entire restaurant like they're on a pilgrimage... not allowing use of the toilet is also unpleasant... Children are obviously not welcome here. Staff was very rude to us. As When we came in with a stroller we were viewed critically, even though my baby was just sleeping. Food was good though. Unfortunately the prices are completely excessive and I like to spend money on good food. 76€ for 2 apple strudel, 1 salad, 1 portion of fries and 3 drinks.

Ate there several times. Everything is simply delicious there 😋. It costs a little more but the quality is excellent and worth it.

The Riv-Eye steak (400g) did not correspond to the price of over 60 euros in terms of quality, consistency or preparation. After we pointed this out to the service, we were informed that the chef had already left. The steak was grilled at a temperature that was far too low and probably hung in the sous vide water for too long. Burgers have been OK at the lodge so far - I won't order steak there again. VG JM It's a shame that even the owner doesn't respond to the guest. He should see it as an opportunity when guests express criticism openly and immediately. A glance from a knowledgeable chef at the piece of meat would have been enough. I'm used to the quality of "Morton's Steak Houses" in the USA and at home I prepare my steaks with a beefer. Argentinian, South African, Brazilian meat or from the USA in the best quality. The food here is very tasty, I really like the location. Another thing worth mentioning is that the steaks have a really good roasted aroma.

The steaks were good as usual. Unfortunately the selection of tuna was very small and wasn't to our taste. When it came to the starters, we had the feeling that they had already been prepared (ice-cold plates!). But above all the service was very friendly, but not focused on the guest. We sat in front of our plates for a very long time with each course. The waiters preferred to re-set the tables in the immediate vicinity. Overall we had the feeling of system catering. From our point of view, a very borderline price/performance ratio!

A great restaurant with excellent food and excellent service.

We were for dinner last night, Rib-Eye and Filet. The filet was OK. The Rib-Eye was not worth half the price. The texture was "floppy", not a joy at all. The cut was not from good quality, it must have spent too long in the sous-vide water and the grill temperature must have been far too low. I cook these cuts at home far better, even without a "beefer", just on a regular bbq. I talked to the service personal, and he said, that the chef had already left. ...I guess, he was in a rush all evening, turning the grill down too soon and not spending appropriate time with the meat. Also no manager on site felt like talking to us after the complaint. If my company chooses to go there again, I thing I will just eat a burger. Last time that was excellent. Cheers, JM

A MUST for steak lovers! Tables set, cloth napkins, good (plate) service, good, open red wine. Fantastic (fillet) steaks. Great quality meat, perfectly prepared. A real treat and worth every cent! Caution!! Danger of addiction :-)

Got out with mixed feelings. The place was flooded on Friday night in spite of the heavy prices. Their steak is outstanding, possibly one of the best in the close proximity of Frankfurt, so the high prices are kind of justified here. Some stuff on the menu are massively overpriced though. As an instance 0,75l bottle of water 9,5€ is the most shameless Ive ever seen in a restaurant. If you wanna share starters, 33€ per person. I also asked for some hot sauce for the steak and they offered me tabasco 😅 -> an upgrade needed here for sure. Dessert was really delicious 👌🏻 Count with about 100€ budget per person here if you wanna take the family out (without alcohol)

We have been going to the lodge regularly for years, but today's experience was bottomless. We spontaneously saw on the homepage that several tables were still available. So we decided to visit. On site they wanted to seat us at a table directly at the kitchen entrance. We asked for another table with less “hustle and bustle”, there were several tables available online for our number of people. At the table we were then told that they didn't have another table for us and we were left standing and the waiter disappeared. For a restaurant of this class I can only say that the service was substandard, rude and disrespectful. What particularly annoys me is the fact that we have been visiting the lodge with friends or for an evening as a couple for years and such an experience is off-putting in the sense that you have to leave the restaurant feeling unwell and seriously wondering whether to come back. I've never had to have an experience like this in a restaurant before, especially not as a regular customer. A pity

A good restaurant with expensive prices. You can do it once, but in the long run it can be hard on your wallet. Only the wardrobe above the chair backs should be viewed negatively ;o)
