I've rarely eaten such good Greek food. From appetizer to dessert, it was a dream. The main course was amazing; the meat was tender and juicy. I've had different experiences elsewhere, unfortunately... the cuts of lamb, beef, and pork were cooked to perfection and delicious. The service was attentive and very friendly. We will definitely eat here again. Highly recommended.

We spontaneously visited on our wedding day on a Saturday without a reservation. We arrived around 5 p.m., right when the restaurant opened, and were greeted incredibly warmly and invitingly. There were several other guests there with us – always a sign to me that the food is really good. I think the chef served us personally, and he was exceptionally warm and attentive. You immediately felt like you were a regular who'd been eating there forever. The food was an absolute 10/10! Especially the stuffed vine leaves, which were even homemade – unfortunately a rarity these days. We felt completely at home and at the end gave a generous tip (almost 20%), which the waiter and chef didn't even want to accept. Such appreciation and warmth are truly rare. Our visit there made our day – honestly, it was the best restaurant visit of the year! ❤️

The food was okay - as it should have been at least since then. Service was actually good (minor mistakes happen here and there, but they responded very quickly). The problem with the service was the restaurant's "boss." If it weren't for him, the service rating and overall rating would have been significantly better. His behavior/approach that evening, especially when it came to paying, was abysmal! Sorry, that's not how you talk to your guests. Obviously, they're making a distinction between regulars and first-time visitors, but that won't lead to new regulars. Everyone may have differing opinions about the ambiance, but in my opinion, you should definitely be able to tell "where you are" in a restaurant - but I didn't notice any Greek flair at all. It's just an old, homely interior. The background noise is unpleasantly loud - even though not all the tables were occupied. You can have a bad day, but then it's better to stay away from the service that day. This ultimately motivated potential regulars to become one-time visitors! Given all the reviews I've read here before, my experience at this restaurant is quite surprising, so I'm actually assuming it was just a bad day. Nevertheless, that's not how it works!

For starters, we had grilled pepperoni and fresh garlic bread – both perfectly prepared and a true prelude to the culinary experience. For main courses, we chose the Hercules plate (rich, varied, and superbly seasoned) and the pork fillet stuffed with feta – a true explosion of flavor! The meat was tender, the feta wonderfully creamy, and the whole thing perfectly seasoned. The ambiance at Leonidas is cozy, stylish, and inviting. The service was attentive and warm; you can feel that the food here is prepared with passion and joy. For us, it wasn't just a dinner, but a true experience. Conclusion: If you want authentic Greek food and value quality, friendliness, and atmosphere, Leonidas is the place for you. We'll definitely be back – and bring friends next time!

From the outside, you can't tell what a gem lies behind the old-fashioned German windows. We were on a short break in Bochum and were looking for a Greek restaurant for seven people. We chose it based on the good reviews and were not disappointed. Since the weather cooperated, we were able to sit in the cozy garden. Our waiter was, besides the food, the highlight. I've rarely experienced such friendly, yet unobtrusive staff. The food came quickly and for everyone at the same time—yes, he balanced seven plates at once :) What a shame this restaurant isn't in our hometown... otherwise I could enjoy the great food more often. The prices are absolutely reasonable, too. Thank you for the lovely evening.

Went to Leonidas for the first time today and even though we were the first guests shortly after 5 p.m., one of the two starters was forgotten. As an apology there was supposed to be a dessert on the house, which of course didn't come. For the main course we both had the Marathon plate and for me the Metaxa sauce. Everything was very tasty and the portion was sufficient, but there are similarly good Greek restaurants in the area and Leonidas is not as outstanding as one would expect based on the reviews. The selection of dishes is very diverse and changing the side dishes is no problem. However, parking spaces are a big problem.

The staff was really great, the food was solid Greek, with all the mixed meat dishes you're used to. BUT: 17.20 euros for a normal open gyros pita, like you know from the snack bar, without any side dishes????? I actually thought it was a bad joke, but it wasn't.

I can't understand why the store is rated so well. The service is unfriendly and slow. The food is nothing special and you can get the same quality in various Greek chip shops. Second time there and second time a failure.

I have had the Leonidas restaurant recommended by several people as the best Greek restaurant in Bochum - and rightly so! Yesterday I had a girls' night there with a friend and we both absolutely loved it. The hospitality and service were simply great - you immediately feel welcome. The food? Simply a dream: large portions, perfectly seasoned and incredibly tasty. The atmosphere is also really nice and cozy, which rounded off the evening perfectly. As food bloggers (@cookandpott) from Bochum, my husband and I are always open to new restaurants, and I can definitely confirm: Leonidas is the best Greek restaurant in Bochum! Next time I'd like to go with Sven so he can convince himself. Parking wasn't a problem at all. We will definitely come back and are already looking forward to the next time! Absolute recommendation! Went there for the first time today. Get assigned a table without a reservation. A very friendly team. The cold starter plate was enough for 2 people, great explanation of what is what. The main course was also great. Unfortunately I don't go to Bochum that often, but I'll be there again on my next visit.

An absolute highlight for lovers of Greek cuisine! The stuffed grape leaves are to die for, and the gratinated gyro was cooked to perfection - juicy, flavorful and simply delicious. The service is outstanding: very friendly and attentive, you immediately feel like you're being welcomed into the family. Here you can tell that the well-being of the guests is really the focus. Definitely a place I would love to visit again and again. Unfortunately I come from Berlin. But it would be my regular restaurant!

The team on site seemed nice, the food was basically delicious, but terribly overpriced. For a small pita €16.50?! They cost 6-8€ elsewhere without any major reductions in quality, at most. The food is delicious, but for the price you can go to another, almost upscale restaurant. For a complete grill plate or something similar, 16.50 is completely okay, but for a portion the size of a really small plate you have to expect gold leaf for the price 😵‍💫

The "Leonidas" is a nice restaurant with a cozy beer garden. The food was fantastic, the service was extremely friendly and personable and the toilets were very clean. It was our first time here, but we will happily come back next time we are in Bochum! Efcharisto for everything! Every visit to Leo has been an experience, and not just because of the food. He lives his role as host and conveys this welcoming culture even when the number of guests is high. A casual saying, a smile, an Uzo. Fits! The rest of the service team also knows how to satisfy the guest in a friendly, relaxed manner. Now about the food. You won't find dry gyros or boring Greek cuisine here. It's best to start with the cold and warm starter platter, accompanied by grilled pepperoni with garlic from the grill, and of course the homemade stuffed grape leaves and pita. Generous portions, great selection, fresh ingredients and therefore a delicious piece of Greece on your plate. The ideal start! My personal favorite dish is the grilled beef liver (although without sauce). But the lamb - no matter the variant - is also a pleasure for them meat-loving palate. Top quality meat and the grill master also knows his craft. The baby calamaries are also a poem. The classic, the gyros, is also delicately seasoned and not dry. Be careful, the portion is huge and often too much after the lavish starter platter, but it still tastes good the next day ;) All in all, I have a very clear recommendation. Thank you for the many great evenings and I'm already looking forward to the next one with you!
