Ein paar Nudel mit cocovin, überschaubar und unverhältnismäßig teuer. So auch die Weine. Das Preis Leistungs Verhältnis ist nicht gegeben. Schade! Die Location ist schön. Drinnen klimatisiert. Nach 2 Stunden wir man aufgefordert den Tisch für die nächsten Gäste zu räumen. Wenn man Glück hat und draußen sitzen darf, Sitz man praktisch auf einer viel befahrenen Hauptstraße….

Everything was good. Prices are normal. But after the meal, I offered tea and we said it would be a treat, but 3 euros seemed a bit overpriced.

Beautiful French restaurant. Here you can find classics of French cuisine but also try out modern menus! Absolute recommendation. Of course the quality also has its price but it is worth a visit!

Delicious four course tasting menu. Very innovative first course with lemon sorbet complementing yellowtail tartare. The strawberry gazpacho was also a treat as intermediate course and the veal fricasee was also quite tasty. The cheeses were outstanding, but I was too full to enjoy them all. Also delicious wine selections and Vetter beer.

What's better than a good French restaurant to cure your homesickness? The dishes are delicious and the portions generous, which justifies the slightly high price. The best-known specialties are there, as well as an atmosphere/decor that takes us back to France. The service was impeccable, overall a very good restaurant, I will come back! Only small negative point: there is no (or little) vegetarian option for the main course, except possibly salads...

There is a little piece of France 🇫🇷 to be found in Heidelberg. If you cross the Neckar bridge, after a few meters you will find a beautiful restaurant that has chosen our neighbors' national animal as its name. Le Coq offers what you would expect to find in a small side street in Paris. Nice atmosphere with good wine and dishes that you would rarely get better. When we're back in Heidelberg, we'll be happy to come back...

Food was good, but the price shocked us a bit. 116€ per person for a 3-course menu?? We paid a total of more than €260 for two people. Craziness!

A wonderful restaurant in Heidelberg with a real French flair. The lunch menu in particular impresses with its price-performance ratio. Highly recommended besides the steaks: any kind of fish they prepare there. Add a good glass of white wine - and nothing can go wrong.

Direkt vorweg - das Essen im Le Coq war sehr gut. Die vegetarische Auswahl würde ich mir persönlich größer Wünschen (nur 1 Gericht pro Gang) und die Käseauswahl könnte feiner abgestimmt sein. Das Hauptgericht war allerdings außerordentlich gut. Der Service steht dem Essen leider nach. Trotz einiger Tage alte. Reservierung sollten wir zunächst den Abend am Katzentisch platziert werden. Auch Kommentare wie „Wegen gestiegener Preise gibt es kein Baguette vorweg“ sollten besser nicht angebracht werden. Bei 26€ für das vegetarische Hauptgericht sollte ein Entrée schon zu erwarten sein, ebenso wie sehr guter Service.

Sehr abwechlungsreiche Menüs, auch vegetarisch. Wir waren zu viert und würden sehr aufmerksam bedient.

Schön eingerichtetes Lokal, sehr freundliches Personal, gutes Essen und leckere Getränke. Wir kommen gerne wieder, ob zu fünft oder nur zu zweit.

Ein Restaurant wie ich es mir vorstelle: Perfekter freundlicher und unaufdringlicher Service. Gemütliches Ambiente. Das Essen ist sehr gut, sehr schmackhaft und handwerklich hervorragend gemacht und liebevoll angerichtet. Das schlägt sich natürlich im Preis nieder aber gemessen an der Leistung sind die Preise mehr als in Ordnung. Dazu sind Tobi und Krissi echt tolle Gastgeber. Ein Restaurant in das ich sehr gerne wieder komme.

Very pretty bistro with very friendly service. Cheese was excellent especially with paired red wine. Bouillabaisse was nice but Rouille needs to be better. Tartare was excellent (best without pesto and cream it sadly came with). Nice cocktail (just needed more ice)

Bonsoir Nous sommes venus dans ce restau par hasard et nous n´avons pas regretté. Nous avons commandé deux coqs au vin et ils étaient très bons. La décoration est typiquement française. Nous reviendrons surement ici quand nous repasserons à Heidelberg. Petite suggestion : sur la carte il manque de l´aligot, spécialité aveyronnaise.

Die Chefin ist sehr zuvorkommend, das Essen schmeckt wunderbar und es gibt köstliche Weine. Die jungen Bedienungen könnten jedoch etwas stillvoller sein.

Supergezellig restaurant met heerlijk eten! De gerechten worden met aandacht bereid. In de keuken staat duidelijk iemand die plezier heeft in zijn werk en dat geldt ook voor de mensen in de bediening. Erg aardig, gastvrij en opgewekt. Wij hebben genoten van de sfeer (je waant je in Parijs), het eten en de gastvrijheid. Een aanrader!

Wir waren heute zu 7 Frauen im „Le Coq“ essen und waren restlos begeistert. Die Suppen, der Salat und die vegetarischen Ravioli waren großartig; das Dessert ein gelungener Abschluss. Der Service war sehr zuvorkommend und unaufdringlich und das kleine, feine, sehr hübsch eingerichtete Restaurant lädt zum Verweilen ein. 100%ige Weiterempfehlung!

Everything from the moment I sat down was wonderful. The staff are very helpful and informative, but the star of the show is the combination of tastes and aesthetics of the dishes. I was spoiled for choice - wonderful!

I had been living in Heidelberg for a looooong time and yet, never entered, as the exterior was never that inviting. Then a saturday arrived when we wanted to test something new, and we ended up testing something which had always been under our noses. Oh la la! We were not disappointed at all. From the first step in, we were under a spell, the interiors are so warm, interesting and inviting that we were immediately put in a good mood. So different from what we had imagined! The service is nice and endearing. We ordered a mixed plate of cheese to start and mmmmmmmm followed by 2 main dishes from the specialty section. Everything was mouthwatering, tasty and cooked to perfection. We will not repeat the same mistake and overlook this place, it is now on our must-go-place list!!

We live nearby and regularly take visitors here. It’s lovely for a casual lunch or a nice dinner. It is charming inside, and everyone is pleasantly surprised with how good the food is. The Croque Madame is lovely, as is the French Onion Soup, and the Tarte Flambée and quiche options. It’s one of those restaurants where the side salad is a good size and excellent. Staff are sweet and friendly. In the summer, they will even pack a fancy picnic basket including plates and cutlery, you can take down to the river meadow! You do have to book that one in advance though. I always see neighbourhood folks in there, so I’m letting you in on a locals’ secret here! ;)

11 friends had a marvellous food experience at this lovely restaurant. Very nice french interior style place, and very expedient waiter. But food served was extraordinary well prepared to be a Bistro. I went for the tuna as starter, and the lamb carre (rack of lamb) for main. The latter was a real gourmet experience.

One of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. I don’t usually bother with tripadvisor so much any more, but a meal like that deserves all the appreciation I can give it. It’s a charming restaurant with a pleasant old world decor, and good, attentive service - but that all belies the quality of the food, which was really exceptional. I had a octopus starter with a lobster foam which would have been perfectly at home in a restaurant with one or two Michelin stars, and the tenderest pigeon breast I have ever eaten. I wish I were staying longer in Heidelberg so I could return.

Excellent local French restaurant for celebratory meals, or a nice lunch. Absolutely must book ahead for dinner. You can also get a picnic basket to take down to the park by the river including wine, sandwiches and more in a beautiful wicker basket with dishes, you just have to call ahead and reserve it.

I have been to Le Coq many times since moving back to Germany and have always been satisfied. My personal favorite is the Flammkuchen- unfortunately it is not available after 18:00. But also the rest of the menu is very good - beef, chicken, salad ... try the changing specials. Special recognition for the selection of wine- I always go with the recommended red and it was always a good choice. Now they also have tables outside- though a bit noisy. Attentive service.

One of my favourite places in Heidelberg. I went already several times and I keep recommending it to other people. It's a cozy place, perfect for a romantic dinner. You can readily call them to book a table, but it didn't seem completely full when I've been there. The stuff is friendly and well organised. The menu is not very big, but there's always a special menu of the day available. There's a big selection of drinks.

Le Coq is a very nice restaurant which serves typical french food and has the real feel of a restaurant in France. We, two persons, went there without a reservation on a weekday. We were offered a nice table at the window. The seating is typical french and may therefore be a bit too narrow. In general, the interior of the restaurant is very cosy and one feels as in a restaurant in France. Service was very attentive, friendly and prompt. The food, we had two courses, was all very delicious. Depending on the dish, portion sizes vary, with some being lavish others being sparse, just like in France. All together, we were pleasently surprised and enjoyed our visit very much. We will definitely revisit!

Not quite living up to the hype tonight. Nobody lit the candle light. No salt and pepper supplied. Beuf slowcooked in casserole was 1/3 chewy, 1/3 fat and 1/3 delicious. Not good enough. Potato puré very nice and smooth. Ambience still very nice.

On a recent business trip to Heidelberg, I hosted my colleagues for dinner. We had a mixed group from all over Europe and all expressed there satisfaction at the great meal we enjoyed. I sampled the boujabes and it was both fragrant and fresh, the seafood was firm yet succulent. The other members of the party had a mix of steaks and French speciality dishes that all received our French colleagues stamp of approval. The staff where attentive and well spoken in English, German and French and the wine list was up scratch with our Belgian wine fanatic.

After 4 weeks in Heidelberg, were several restaurants was tested we finnally found an eveneing to visit ,Le Coq. The menu was handed out, and "todays specials" was presented separately. From this moment of it all went wrong.. When ordering the food a new waitress showed up taking our order. We ordered a Frence spesiality (snails) for the starter, and two of the courses from todays special for main course. For the food we also ordered a botle of Pinot Noir red wine and still water. The wine and the water came quickly after the order was made. Then shortly after this the main courses was served, and this time of the first waitress, and not the one taking our order. We then asked for our snails, she appologiste and told us she didnt know anything about it. The main corses was put on our table, and nothing was done to correct the missing starters. It was obviously that the restaurant was missing routines for how to handle such issues. For us this is not a waitress problem but a management problem. After some time, and after completed most of the main course, the waitress taking our order showed up and appollogised for forgetting our starters, but we should get a discount on coffe/dessert. We ordered creme brule from the dessert menu, and asked if they had Irish coffe as well. The waitress told us they could make this, they had Bailys and coffe and could mix it. We then told her that There was no Baily in Irish coffe but whiskey, coffe, cream and suger. No problem they could do this. The dessert and the Irish Coffe was served together, the dessert was by the way excellent, and the only thing about this meal which was good, the so called Irish coffe was deffenetly not Irish Coffe but something else (never tasted it before). We asked for the bill and got the highest bill ever during our stay in Heidelberg, and no discount as promissed was made. We paid and left Le Coq after one of our most strange restaurant experiences ever. The food was not more than average except for the dessert, lack of management routines in the service was obvious. There is a lot to do if this restaurant should come to the level We expecting it to be.

Casual and cozy and child friendly as well (at least for lunch). I had a sausage with mashed potato,which is a normal size. (I am used to see huge serving portion in Germany). Lovely atmosphere with seating outside. You can do the philosopher's walk from the old town and end up here for lunch.

Typically French tables, namely very small, we were 5 crammed in a very small corner, food was good service was a bit fragmented but very cheerful staff.

We have eaten at Le Coq several times in the past and this time I was disappointed. I ordered the onion soup, which was ok. It lacked the dark brown broth, crusty bread and melted cheese which I am use to, instead a somewhat tasteless...
