A true taste of France: authentic cuisine, first-class wine, and exceptionally warm service. The ambiance exudes a charming bistro flair. We were particularly impressed by the owner – not only a gifted chef but also a wonderful conversationalist who rounded off the evening with his thoughts on food and life. Thank you for this thoroughly enjoyable experience; we will be back.

The food was okay, nothing to complain about, but also nothing memorable. The real downside was the service: We had a reservation for 6 pm. When our friends arrived a little late, we were told that the table was only reserved until 8 pm and that we should call our friends again to be sure. As soon as we were all there, our order was taken so hastily that we felt rushed rather than welcome. We were also told to order everything because otherwise (quote) it would "take even longer." No joke. It felt more like a cafeteria with a stopwatch than a relaxing evening in a "French" restaurant. One wonders what would happen if actual French people showed up at this restaurant and wanted to sit at a table all evening. In short: The food was decent, the service was stressed, and it wasn't suitable for a relaxed dinner. We'll definitely go somewhere else next time. It's supposed to be a cozy place, after all.

Several of us went to Le Coq for dinner. We really enjoyed it! The service was extremely friendly and professional. The food was excellent – ​​you can tell that the food is prepared with a lot of love, expertise, and high-quality ingredients. And the atmosphere is truly lovely and cozy. We particularly enjoyed the bouillabaisse! We had a wonderful evening and were completely satisfied. Thank you so much – we'd love to come back!

Unfortunately, reservation requests weren't responded to. They didn't answer the phone either, and they didn't return calls. Therefore, the service was subpar. I can't comment on the food. The ambiance looked very inviting and pleasant.

Not a very large restaurant, but it has a pleasant atmosphere and a lot of attention to detail. I had a delicious beef bourguignon there.

We politely asked if a table for three would be available at 8:30 p.m. The manager laughed at us, turned around, and asked if we could see a free table. Then he walked away. Extremely unpleasant; it was possible that someone would pay and leave. We would have waited anyway. But since this seems to be the place to be, the guests are treated accordingly. First bad experience in Le Coq. I should have also written a review when everything was good, I know! The waiters are awesome! Usually it's good, but I never had a starter there. This time we did. We weren't hungry and we ordered some starters. I had a salad. It was quite bad, mostly lettuce and some carrots and cucumber. It was obvious that it was prepared probably morning, and we were there at ~20. The other Starter was Duck paté, it tasted like it was canned paté. Two and a half glasses of wine, pretty good! Olives with some dips, good. Around 80€, tip included. It's just too much money for what we've got..

Yes it is a bit expansive but it really is worth it, the food is amazing (the wine selection is also good) just do not take the cheese, it was the only disapointment.

Great and sympathetic service (in English), authentic French cuisine and great wine. I loved all of it, thank you Le Coq team. Inside is like a Paris bistro but we enjoyed the terrace. Only menu dinner in the evening and midday only lunch menu. I went back the next day for lunch 😉.

I am Korean I visited last summer after the reservation by rental car (I think you can park on the street, but there is not much space) 3-year-old child, father-in-law, mother-in-law The owner runs it alone, but he is very kind and good at handling work There are no tourists, so it is leisurely The food, the fish dish was moist and delicious, so I still remember it (it is not easy to find moist food in other restaurants in Germany and Switzerland) The other foods and desserts were all delicious I am writing this late because it remains a very good memory It is not very big, so make sure to make a reservation before you go

The cutest French restaurant in Heidelberg! Highly recommend the sea bass risotto and the coq au vin. Their raspberry and chocolate parfait was the perfect dessert. Staff was welcoming and very accommodating to my pregnancy diet. Perfect date night spot!

The small selection (two starters, two main courses, and one dessert) guarantees freshness and high quality. The restaurant itself is unique, with its walls covered in pictures. I stopped by here yesterday for lunch. Although I'm usually a big fan of set menus, the very tempting daily menu was simply too much for me. The very friendly and attentive waitress offered me only the main course, which I really liked: pork belly with teriyaki pointed cabbage and baked potatoes. A truly impeccable dish. Once again, a big compliment to the cook. It was truly enjoyable. I'll definitely be back. Best regards.

There are places you stumble upon that seem to carry a quiet kind of magic. This was one of them. My wife, a lifelong devotee of risotto, laid down her fork after the first few bites and whispered (half in disbelief) that it was the best she’d ever tasted. "It's as soft as ice cream!" she said. I could only nod, humbled by the honesty of the flavors on my own plate. Every element spoke of care. A sauce not merely poured, but composed, layered like a story told with intent. The crust of the fish, just the right kind of resistance before surrendering to tenderness. Nothing loud, yet everything present. And then there’s the service. Quiet, but alert like someone who sees before you're even aware of needing. A fingerprint on a glass, gone before it could be noticed. That kind of attentiveness. You don’t hand out stars lightly. But here, they don’t need to ask for them. They earn them—one detail at a time.

Die Karte ist übersichtlich und bietet neben französischen Klassikern auch eine schöne Auswahl für Vegetarier. Alle Gerichte waren sorgfältig zubereitet und optisch ansprechend angerichtet. Der Service aufmerksam, die Weinpreise voll im Rahmen.

A wonderful restaurant with authentic French flair! Both the meat dish and the vegetarian dish were excellent - tasted great and prepared with a lot of love. We were also impressed by the ambience: stylish, cozy and full of charm. My absolute highlight was the dessert. The chocolate mousse with a few flakes of coarse salt came in a generous portion. The service was first class, attentive and friendly! An all-round successful evening. We will definitely be back :)

In a pleasant atmosphere, you can enjoy classic French dishes prepared with attention to detail. I particularly liked the coq au vin. It was perfectly seasoned and wonderfully tender. The staff was friendly and attentive and were able to help us with recommendations. There was also a nice selection of wines that were perfectly matched. All in all, a restaurant for everyone who loves French cuisine and is looking for a cozy atmosphere. I'll definitely be back!

Actually a nice restaurant for dinner with friends. If you are immediately informed upon arrival that you have only booked the table from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., I expect that the service will run accordingly. Well, there was almost a quarter of an hour left for dessert and the espresso exceeded the limit. The onion soup and the coq au vin were OK, the "Iberico" was probably on the verge of retirement when it expired. It was so tough that even when fried it vigorously resisted being cut up with a knife. The open wines from Roussilion were also OK, but not for around fifteen euros per glass. In general, the prices: over three hundred euros for four people with two to three courses each with unspectacularly usable food (apart from the Spanish pork grandfather) in very manageable portions and equally inconspicuous wines and, when it comes to time management, overwhelmed service, so the price-performance ratio is not really right. We also know this better from small restaurants in France...

We came to a spontaneous dinner in the old/new restaurant. We often don't drink alcohol and were pleasantly surprised by good non-alcoholic sparkling wine and wine. The food was interesting...I didn't know fish with cassoulet before. The Coq au Vin was somewhat strongly seasoned. Conclusion: We'll be back!

Beautiful little restaurant with French cuisine. The LeCoq has a long tradition in Heidelberg, with a new tenant since February. We were very excited and were not disappointed. Excellent, high quality food, great ambience for a special occasion. We would like to come back soon and look forward to an alternative to the many Italian restaurants in Neuenheim.

The owner changed hands just a few days ago, so I was curious: the greeting from the kitchen, i.e. leek and potato soup, immediately put me in a good mood. The starter, a goat cheese tart, was also very tasty. Mushroom dashi and the cabbage roll brought a little Asian touch to the great taste experience. At the end, instead of dessert, I had the cheese platter: all 3 types were well chosen, the fig mustard tasted great with it. Since I don't drink alcohol, I was very positively surprised by the non-alcoholic sparkling wine and the non-alcoholic Riesling. Since there are almost only Italian restaurants in HD-Neuenheim, the new LeCoq is definitely an asset!

Unfortunately, the quality of the cuisine and the high prices have changed a lot since our last visit. The onion soup as a starter was quite sweet, there was hardly any onion flavor. The meat from the coq au vin as the main course was very tender and tasty. However, it was surrounded by a thin layer of black burnt onion pieces (?) that had to be removed first. The side dish was a small bowl of mashed potatoes. Since we were both still hungry after our meal, we ordered a chocolate mousse. This was unusually large, but unfortunately quite heavily salted. We actually really like the sweet-salty combo. As a child, for example, I dipped pretzel sticks into the Nutella jar. But the mousse was way too salty. This was also complained about at the next table. The quality of our dishes in no way justifies the high prices that are charged for them. Since we last dined there two years ago, I can't judge whether the quality has deteriorated over time or whether this is due to the change of ownership in February of this year.

Die Portionen waren alle extrem klein. Der Zander für 31€ verschwindend klein. Unverschämt! Auch mein Salat war klein, wenige Blätter, ein Streifen Speck, ein paar Nüsse, 12€.

We were on a short visit to Heidelberg and wanted to try a special restaurant. Here we found what we were looking for. The food was delivered very quickly and was very lovingly prepared. The staff is super friendly. The menu is very clear and there is something for everyone. We will definitely come back. Thank you.

Very decent meal and classic dishes with well-selected meats. Fairly high prices for the service. Extremely cold and unsmiling service. No attention was paid to a 5 year old child. The dishes are served without associating them with the people who ordered them.

I wonder where the great reviews come from. We actually had a lovely meal here, but neither the food nor the service was impressive. Of our four meals, one was really tasty (coq au vin), two were normal (salads) and one was subpar (mussels). Even after we returned the mussels because they were tasteless (and actually unkind), a portion that was twice as large was returned (we assume that corresponded to the quantity ordered), but it only marginally resembled good food (and that includes mussels). yes, really not difficult) and were of low quality in terms of both taste and size. The two waitresses were rather listless and unimpressed by the fact that the food had to go back to the kitchen. The reason we didn't order anything else was because we didn't really think we were valued.

Alles war recht mittelmäßig; die Preise jedoch gehoben. Ich hatte Muscheln, die ich im ersten Anlauf zurückgehen lassen musste, denn sie waren nicht gewürzt/fad. Im zweiten Anlauf waren sie essbar, aber weit von irgendwelchen Restaurant-Standards. Das Essen meiner Freunde war akzeptabel.

We were here for dinner on September 1st, 2018. Everything was reserved. Nevertheless, we were offered a place. Menu expensive. Quality of the food is very high! BUT: With a fair price, not only the food should be good, but also the rest. The waiter had to be asked to order another drink and pay. I would have liked another drink. Toilets had no paper.

There were six of us, 3 ate the 3-course autumn menu, 3 a la carte. Food well prepared. The above Ox cheeks could have been a little harder, the ribbon noodles didn't quite match the coq-au-vin and were almost too much. But everything tasted good, the wine was at the right temperature and the service was very charming, friendly and attentive.

We ended up there by chance - after hiking (Philosopher's Path) we arrived very hungry. We weren't disappointed. Very tasty daily menu! Friendly, nice service! After eating a delicious meal, we regained our strength and were able to explore the city center. Good price-performance ratio.

Ein paar Nudel mit cocovin, überschaubar und unverhältnismäßig teuer. So auch die Weine. Das Preis Leistungs Verhältnis ist nicht gegeben. Schade! Die Location ist schön. Drinnen klimatisiert. Nach 2 Stunden wir man aufgefordert den Tisch für die nächsten Gäste zu räumen. Wenn man Glück hat und draußen sitzen darf, Sitz man praktisch auf einer viel befahrenen Hauptstraße….

Delicious four course tasting menu. Very innovative first course with lemon sorbet complementing yellowtail tartare. The strawberry gazpacho was also a treat as intermediate course and the veal fricasee was also quite tasty. The cheeses were outstanding, but I was too full to enjoy them all. Also delicious wine selections and Vetter beer.

What's better than a good French restaurant to cure your homesickness? The dishes are delicious and the portions generous, which justifies the slightly high price. The best-known specialties are there, as well as an atmosphere/decor that takes us back to France. The service was impeccable, overall a very good restaurant, I will come back! Only small negative point: there is no (or little) vegetarian option for the main course, except possibly salads...

There is a little piece of France 🇫🇷 to be found in Heidelberg. If you cross the Neckar bridge, after a few meters you will find a beautiful restaurant that has chosen our neighbors' national animal as its name. Le Coq offers what you would expect to find in a small side street in Paris. Nice atmosphere with good wine and dishes that you would rarely get better. When we're back in Heidelberg, we'll be happy to come back...

Food was good, but the price shocked us a bit. 116€ per person for a 3-course menu?? We paid a total of more than €260 for two people. Craziness!

Direkt vorweg - das Essen im Le Coq war sehr gut. Die vegetarische Auswahl würde ich mir persönlich größer Wünschen (nur 1 Gericht pro Gang) und die Käseauswahl könnte feiner abgestimmt sein. Das Hauptgericht war allerdings außerordentlich gut. Der Service steht dem Essen leider nach. Trotz einiger Tage alte. Reservierung sollten wir zunächst den Abend am Katzentisch platziert werden. Auch Kommentare wie „Wegen gestiegener Preise gibt es kein Baguette vorweg“ sollten besser nicht angebracht werden. Bei 26€ für das vegetarische Hauptgericht sollte ein Entrée schon zu erwarten sein, ebenso wie sehr guter Service.

Sehr abwechlungsreiche Menüs, auch vegetarisch. Wir waren zu viert und würden sehr aufmerksam bedient.

Schön eingerichtetes Lokal, sehr freundliches Personal, gutes Essen und leckere Getränke. Wir kommen gerne wieder, ob zu fünft oder nur zu zweit.

Ein Restaurant wie ich es mir vorstelle: Perfekter freundlicher und unaufdringlicher Service. Gemütliches Ambiente. Das Essen ist sehr gut, sehr schmackhaft und handwerklich hervorragend gemacht und liebevoll angerichtet. Das schlägt sich natürlich im Preis nieder aber gemessen an der Leistung sind die Preise mehr als in Ordnung. Dazu sind Tobi und Krissi echt tolle Gastgeber. Ein Restaurant in das ich sehr gerne wieder komme.

Very pretty bistro with very friendly service. Cheese was excellent especially with paired red wine. Bouillabaisse was nice but Rouille needs to be better. Tartare was excellent (best without pesto and cream it sadly came with). Nice cocktail (just needed more ice)

Bonsoir Nous sommes venus dans ce restau par hasard et nous n´avons pas regretté. Nous avons commandé deux coqs au vin et ils étaient très bons. La décoration est typiquement française. Nous reviendrons surement ici quand nous repasserons à Heidelberg. Petite suggestion : sur la carte il manque de l´aligot, spécialité aveyronnaise.

Supergezellig restaurant met heerlijk eten! De gerechten worden met aandacht bereid. In de keuken staat duidelijk iemand die plezier heeft in zijn werk en dat geldt ook voor de mensen in de bediening. Erg aardig, gastvrij en opgewekt. Wij hebben genoten van de sfeer (je waant je in Parijs), het eten en de gastvrijheid. Een aanrader!
