We were guests at Lanternchen again on February 4th and all 6 guests were thrilled. It's always impressive that the boss offers fresh fish every day (we had monkfish yesterday) to go with an already varied menu. The service is very friendly and professional and...which is a rarity these days...the price-performance ratio is still right at Lanternchen!!! Definitely try the Rosa de Frati wine. We would love to come back.

Restaurant: Staff is very accommodating. Special requests are always fulfilled wherever possible. Very pleasant atmosphere and noise, even when the restaurant is busy. The extraordinary variety of different dishes, wines and daily specials are impressive. A ground-level entrance for guests with physical disabilities is easily paved. I rate the restaurant: We have been to Lanternchen several times or picked up food. The service is top. The food is excellent across the board (starters, salads, pasta, pizza, meat and fish as well as side dishes). The obligatory espresso afterwards also met my expectations. I really like the atmosphere. Even when the store is full, it isn't unpleasantly loud or anything like that. Thank you dear Lantern team, I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

Pre-ordered a large order of food and picked it up. Unfortunately the Pizza Napoli was extremely disappointing. Some flavor in the middle of the pizza was only thanks to the anchovies, capers and olives. Unfortunately, I completely missed cheese, or as described, parmesan. Unfortunately, the taste of the pizza as a whole was very bland and dreary. Since I was very hungry and after a long day I no longer have any intention of doing the route again, I'll leave it at this review. Unfortunately not recommended

Not for early risers/early goers. There is a restaurant on the lower floor, the background noise of which can be found in the room almost uninsulated. The mattress was totally sagging and the pillow was super uncomfortable. I hardly slept during my stay. The toilet wasn't cleaned at all when I entered the bathroom. The stars are only for the friendly staff. I can't say anything about the food in the restaurant.

This restaurant was recommended to me and it was really incredibly good. Best steak in Cologne in my opinion.

We (5 students from the 70s) met here for our annual get-together. I can only rate the restaurant because we all come from Cologne or (I from Porz) and didn't stay in the hotel. My meal (fried loup de mer with vegetables and sausage patties, dessert panna cotta with wild berry vanilla sauce) was exactly what I had imagined and was very well prepared (the fish was fried just a little too long). The fellow students also enjoyed it very much. I also give special praise to the waitress; not pushy and always with a wonderful smile. The Pizza Lanternchen, with buratta and prawns was to die for. My husband ate the San Daniele pizza with a stuffed crust, just perfect. Thanks to the new pizza oven and pizza maker. Is 100% recommended.

Great restaurant, perfect food, friendly staff

The food and the place are very good, however the service left a lot to be desired, we had to wait 1 hour for our food to arrive at the table, while the people who arrived later had already finished eating, our order still did not reach us. We discussed it with the manager and his attitude was not at all what we wanted, he made a bad face at us and said that it would arrive (a pizza and a pasta) he did not apologize or try to compensate for forgetting our food. We were having a great time and that situation completely discouraged us.

Visit to the restaurant, the dishes were beautifully prepared, the amount of pasta was clear and unfortunately something seemed to be wrong as I had stomach problems afterwards. Pizza, however, was very good.

Rarely have I had such a delicious pizza. But the pasta dishes are not bad either. Drinks are great. Come regularly to dine.

We are totally thrilled. The selection of dishes is very varied. It was difficult for us to make a choice. As a welcome we were given homemade bread with homemade dip. Insanely delicious!!! Rarely get something so good to start with. For starters we had caramelized goat cheese with walnuts and mango carpaccio with strawberries. The cheese was super fluffy and creamy with a great crust. A refreshing experience with the fruit. I found the food exceptional and extremely tasty. As a second starter we had buffalo mozzarella with salad.  Refreshingly fresh here too. Super delicious with the spices and dressing. For the main course we had homemade ravioli with spinach and arugula and another pasta dish with beef. The service was attentive and everything ran quickly even though it was extremely busy. Absolute recommendation!

Always very satisfied, great service, delicious food

We live just around the corner and recently went to Lanternchen for the first time. We didn't have a reservation but still got a table. The service was very nice and very attentive. The waiting times for the food were neither too long nor too short. The food itself was very tasty and you could tell that the pasta was fresh. Conclusion it was the first and certainly not the last time we were there.

Last night I was here with friends who often visit the restaurant. I have to say the wine selection is great, the staff is very friendly and the food is brilliant. I would like the tartare with a great selection of wines then the salmon noodles and the tuna steak, what more could you want, so I'm happy to go further.

This evening the three of us had dinner at Lanternchen in Cologne-Auweiler. A wide range of open wines, very tasty food, pleasantly prepared and presented and explained in a friendly and competent manner by the service staff. Two people chose the four-course menu, which could be ordered as a “surprise menu”. You can decide in advance what you don't want, but otherwise the guest can be surprised. It was such a positive surprise that we were thrilled all evening long. I didn't take any food pics because I always find it slightly embarrassing to take a photo of the plate first, but visually the food looks as excellent as it tastes! A super nice restaurant, with a very charming ambience. A situation ruined what was actually a lovely evening for us. The “boss” insulted his temporary waitress in the worst possible way in front of the guests. What was not only unpleasant for us was also absolutely not necessary. Without a self-promoting boss, it's always worth a visit.

Everything great! I stayed with friends in the hotel and they were very satisfied. We then ate in the restaurant two evenings, both times fantastic! We are very happy to have found out about this great restaurant and will definitely come back.

We went here for dinner with friends on Friday evening. I would definitely recommend making a reservation in advance! The service and food were excellent. We women had the penne with salsa aurora and buffalo mozzarella (a dream!) and the loup de mer with vegetables and potatoes, the men tried the meat and were more than enthusiastic about the specially fed beef. At the end there was a tiramisu to share! The service is attentive, friendly, professional. All in all a successful evening, we will definitely come back!

The Laternchen not only offers a cozy atmosphere, but also an excellent selection of delicious dishes. The quality of the dishes is always top notch and the presentation of each dish is a feast for the eyes. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating, making the visit a completely pleasant experience. The attention to detail that can be felt in every aspect of the restaurant is also evident in the selection of wines and drinks that pair perfectly with the dishes. Wir waren nur zum Essen da aber sehr zufrieden. Gut zubereitete Speisen ein sehr netter Service und guter Wein. Der einzige Kritikpunkt ist das es in dem vollbesetzten Restaurant relativ laut war. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder, einer der besten Italiener in der Gegend.

Wir kommen jetzt öfters zum Essen... Die Leidenschaft der Inhaber-Familie spiegelt sich im gesamten Restaurant wieder und überträgt sich auch auf den Service. Ein gutes saisonales, europäische Cross-Over-Speisenangebot, handwerklich gut gemacht und ehrlich lecker. Dazu ein sehr ordentlich aufgestelltes Weinangebot. Tolles Ambiente und sehr zuvorkommendes Personal runden die Sache bei fairem Preis-Leistungsverhältnis ab. Für jeden der richtige Sitzplatz: Draußen auf der Terrasse oder im Bistro-Style mit modernen Akzenten eingerichteten Innenraum. Es lohnt sich im Laternchen einen netten Abend zu verbringen. Absolut empfehlenswert!

Wir waren nun schon mehrfach dort, und können bestätigen, dass es jedes Mal nicht nur einwandfrei war, sondern wirklich, wirklich sehr gut. Die Location ist gemütlich, der Patron gibt sich wirklich Mühe die Gegebenheiten zu verbessern, was ihm positiv gelingt. Der Service ist ausnahmslos herausragend, freundlich, zuvorkommend und authentisch. Die Weinkarte ist ebenso sehr gut gestaltet, und jeder (Weinkenner bis Tafelweinfreunde) werden hier fündig. Das Essen ist wirklich ausgezeichnet. Wir hatten gestern ein Filet mit frischen Pfifferlingen und Grillgemüse. Das Fleisch war perfekt gegart und butterzart. Einfach ein ganz tolles Restaurant, bei dem alles stimmt.

Wir waren nur zum essen in diesem Restaurant. Es ist schön eingerichtet und geräumig. Man wird freundlich begrüßt, sowieso sind die Bedienungen sehr aufmerksam. Auch das Essen ist sehr lecker, frisch zubereitet und auch die Portionen finde ich für diese Art von Restaurant völlig ausreichend. Wir waren an einem sehr geschäftigem Abend dort und einer von drei großen Tischen mit 9+ Gästen. Da nebenbei auch der „normale“ Tagesbetrieb lief war leider nicht alles perfekt und einige unserer Gerichte waren etwas kalt oder die Beilagen wurden verwechselt/falsch gebracht. Das wurde mit „Versprechen von Frischheit“ abgetan, was ich etwas drüber finde. Man macht Fehler, sollte dann aber auch dazu stehen. Alles in allem war es aber ein toller Abend. Uns wurde immer nachgeschenkt, alle waren sehr freundlich und das Essen war wie gesagt echt lecker. Ich würde wieder kommen.

Wir waren das erste Mal zum Essen hier und total begeistert. Freundliche Bedienung, der Inhaber hat uns direkt ein Video über die Zerlegung seines heute angebotenen Tunfisches gezeigt, den wir auch als Hauptspeise probiert haben - es war perfekt zubereitet. Auch die Vorspeise (Garnelen) auf den Punkt. Die Speisekarte bietet von Pizza, Pasta, Fisch und Fleisch für jeden etwas. Ergänzt wird das Angebot noch durch eine Tageskarte. Wir saßen bei schönem Wetter auf der Terrasse und haben uns sauwohl gefühlt. Für nächstes Wochenende direkt wieder einen Tisch reserviert.

Ich war das 2. mal im Laternchen essen das 1. Mal mit meiner Freundin und Kind, da haben wir jeweils eine Pizza gegessen, die war so gut, dass ich eine Woche später nochmal zum Pizza essen hin wollte. Kaum angekommen mit meiner Mutter, Tante und Kind kam der Chef persönlich zu mir und präsentierte mir ein Foto von einem Thunfisch, den er frisch eingekauft hatte. Ich konnte nicht anders und bestellte mir daraufhin ein Thunfisch Steak mit Rosmarin Kartoffeln. Ich muss sagen, es war ein absoluter Gaumenschmaus, richtig lecker und von top Qualität!!! Zusätzlich probierte ich die Pizza meiner Mutter und die Nudeln meiner Tante, alle Gerichte waren auf den Punkt und sehr sehr lecker. Das Laternchen können wir absolut weiterempfehlen, unser neues Stammlokal!!!
