Landgasthof Mariaberg in Kempten (Allgäu)

We were here for the first time since the reopening in December 2024 and can absolutely recommend it. Very friendly service, family friendly (small play kitchen for children, books and art supplies) and good food. We are very happy that new life has been breathed into the restaurant and we will come back more often in the future. We are also really looking forward to the beer garden in the summer.

An idyllic country farm with typical Allgäu cuisine. The service is courteous and warm. Too bad there was bacon in the potato salad. Otherwise the food would have gotten stars too. One thing is certain: we'll be back!

Great rustic interior. The excellent food will make you a repeat offender. The service was absolutely friendly, courteous and quick. We'll be happy to stop by there more often :) The cake is also highly recommended.

Were at the Landgasthof Mariaberg today for the first time since the change of tenant. Had 1x summit stormer, 1x Waidmannsheil and a side salad. Everything was super tasty and plentiful. We were warmly welcomed. Very friendly service 🙂. Resume 🥰 we can really recommend it and will definitely come back soon.

My/our son Florian and Nadine only got married about a month ago, it was the first wedding celebration at the Gasthof Mariaberg, and we can highly recommend the food, especially the new young chef Michael conjures up very tasty dishes! 😊😜😋 I can highly recommend the inn, and very nice guests! 🙂😀😉 we'll be back!

Have eaten here several times and the food and service are worth more than 5 stars. We were so excited that we even had Just&Ela organize our wedding and it was a 100% successful day/evening. Thank you very much again at this point. Keep it up. Ps: The coffee is super delicious.

We thought we would try this restaurant after taking over, I was told in advance that the tomato soup was not good, I also ordered one to try it and all I can say is - not recommended - the schnitzel and the nuggets are all frozen goods of inferior quality , we will certainly not visit this restaurant again, unfortunately my mother-in-law's cake was also TK. Well, I could run a restaurant that way

Have now eaten here several times with the new operators (since December 1st, 2024). So far everything has always tasted great, relaxed atmosphere. Reservations should be made for dining. Operators are very open to criticism and ideas in order to please everyone. We would love to come back ☺️

The landgasthof mariaberg was an absolute highlight for us. The food was great, the service was excellent and the location was great. AND you have to try the cake.

Very nice location that invites you to stop off after a hike on Mariaberg. I've been there several times since it reopened and have been surprised every time with a new variation of the side salad. What can also be praised are the delicious homemade desserts and cakes.

It was taken over again, we were eating and were disappointed. We waited 20 minutes for our drinks and only got something when we asked again. We had stuffed peppers, a very small portion of which you couldn't get enough of. The minced meat filling was much too firm and... It didn't taste like anything. Far too expensive for the portions, far too little choice of food, not even fish or roast or Allgäu dishes except for cheese spaetzle for €16.10 and cabbage donuts 15.60 proud prices. Otherwise only salads and chicken dishes. It's a shame, I had imagined it differently for a new opening.

Exorbitantly overpriced vending machine coffee, unfortunately the taste of the food was poor. We were dazzled by the new good reviews - apparently all completely new users with only 1-2 reviews so far. Too bad. Let's see how the concept turns out in the summer.

It couldn't have turned out better. With Justine and Pamela, the restaurant on the Mariaberg has got two very good landladies. Together with their team, they pamper their guests with excellent food, especially lovers of good red wines, and with very friendly service. Since it opened on December 1st, 2024, we have been there 5 times or more. Ate several main courses and were able to taste the cakes and tarts. Everything was very, very tasty. This restaurant is particularly recommended. Not just because of the beautiful view.

I think it's very good throughout. Price-performance is very good and the new tenants have really done something with it.

With the hosts Justine and Ela, the restaurant on the Mariaberg is worth a trip again. The food is very, very tasty. The selection of cakes, tarts and desserts leaves nothing to be desired. The entire team offers a service that couldn't be more friendly. A visit to this restaurant is an experience with or without a previous hike. We are always happy to be able to come back there.

After the change of tenant on December 1st, 2024, we were very happy to have gotten a place for Christmas Day. We didn't regret it for a second. Child-friendly, accommodating, delicious fresh food. The fireplace makes up for the outdated furniture and creates a rustic atmosphere.

For a country inn with a relatively old interior and little choice of food (very chicken-heavy) absolutely overpriced... at least 10% more than in other restaurants with a higher standard:-(

Finally the beautiful place has the right hosts so that you can feel completely comfortable there! The menu, its implementation and the service are great! We are already looking forward to the next time and wish the team many nice guests!

Rustic furnishings in Allgäu style, the fire burns comfortably in the fireplace, the new hosts are very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, the prices were reasonable.

This evening was my first time at the Landgasthof Mariaberg by Just and Ela. The service was top 👍🥹 and the Kässpatz’n were excellent ☺️ with four types of cheese. The pasta with chicken and gratinated mozzarella was also very tasty. The tomato sauce for the pasta was very tasty 🥹. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very cozy 🥰 and the service is very warm 😃. We'd love to come back ☺️

Unfassbar, ganzes Lokal leer, es wurde uns verboten an den runden Tisch, der gedeckt war, zu sitzen mit der Begründung, wir sind ja zu sechst aber der Tisch sei ja wohl nur für 4 Leute da gedeckt, wir sollen an den langen Tisch ganz drüben sitzen, aber da dürfen wir nur was trinken!!! Jetzt kommt’s- dann haben wir nachgegeben und der unverschämte Kellner legte uns dann die Speisekarte hin, obwohl er sagte wir dürfen nur da drüben essen! Und das im leeren Lokal!! So unfassbar! Dem müsste man als erstes kündigen auf der Stelle!!!

If I had read the reviews beforehand, I wouldn't have left my money here. Unfriendly, self-service and shouting from the door. I don't want to say much about the food, except that the apprentice was probably sick and he sent his brother... If you ever want to eat a really bad schnitzel, you can start trying here as a reference location. Beer garden is absolutely fine for drinking. But that's about it. Free parking, great view. When you say goodbye, you don't have to expect to get an answer. You'd better keep going unless you're really starving.

A very nice guest house with a great view

The beer garden is nice, but the innkeeper doesn't work at all. We had emptied our water bottles while hiking and wanted to refill them there. There was a sign on the toilet saying “No drinking water” and we would have had to buy water at the inn. Otherwise self-service, which was okay, the ice cream was gross. The coffee OK. The small playground at the edge of the beer garden is completely broken and should not be used by children.

We always enjoy going to the beer garden. At the moment there is self-service there. Staff vacation. The food is good and the price-performance ratio is fair. We can highly recommend the restaurant.

Great location with very good food and great service! A special highlight is the beautiful chestnut garden with a panoramic mountain view. Here you can dine quietly and comfortably without any traffic. We'll definitely be back!

no consideration, I order here very often and leave 30-40€ every time because fried potatoes were ordered, ham was not listed as an ingredient nor was it in the info and I myself hadn't even specified pork, when I called I have to listen to that should have stated that! Why should I specify something that wasn't sent to the customer as information, which means it was a mistake from the inn, but there was no apology, no credit or anything else, the food of course ended up in the bin, €7 gone!! Impudence when I calculate how much money I've already spent here, I would have expected an apology instead of that it's discussed that was my last order. Nowadays you only have cold ideology and character, time has changed a lot of things negatively. I'm not surprised that no one eats out anymore and many restaurants go bankrupt.

We ate cake, it was good. The service was sometimes rather slow and unmotivated. But still it was okay, the prices are normal.

All-in, ok, unfortunately only kitchen until 9 p.m.

Beautiful beer garden. The food was very good. The prices are ok too. Just a little messy around the house.

The service tried hard, but was quickly overwhelmed and then unfortunately very rude and bad-tempered towards the guests. I don't think it was meant in a bad way, but it didn't make you feel welcome. Unfortunately, there were several unpleasant dialogues between guests and the waitress while we were there. The currywurst wasn't that special. The sauce was more like the typical paprika sauce that Croatians have than a currywurst sauce. I didn't particularly like the sausage itself or the lightly seasoned fries either. There is room for improvement here, especially when it comes to customer friendliness.

Unfortunately, some of the staff were very unfriendly and rude. Unfortunately, the food wasn't anything special either. It's a shame, given the beautiful view and ambience of the restaurant.

Danger! This restaurant does not take into account the guests. We wanted to eat with a large group. Unfortunately, a person cannot eat many foods, so it should only be one portion of fries. Unfortunately we weren't allowed to order fries individually... because it was only for children! The boss served us very rudely. We decided not to eat and left again.

The beer garden was beautiful as always, except for the fact that one of the five parasols was completely moldy!!! The food, however, was subterranean, it was actually supposed to be Pleskavica, simply frozen, pressed minced meat with some feta cheese on the plate, when I cut into it, water simply ran out of the folded minced meat bag!! My partner and I only took a bite of the entire dish, the rest remained on the plate, which the staff didn't care about in the least, paid, left and never went there to eat again.

Delivery service TOP!!! Fast and friendly driver! Food was still super warm, the quality was A1!!! Absolutely recommended!!!

I find it very disgraceful when you can't even go to the toilet without having to pay €1 and unfortunately you didn't have any cash with you on the mountain. As a lady you are sent away with a nice question and an absolutely rude manner... according to the statement “he also has to finance the toilet paper and the soap as well as the paper and the water himself” I understand... didn't know that going to the toilet was dependent on existence...

After 1 hour we got something to drink and after about 2.5 hours the food came. The staff was totally overwhelmed and unfortunately not very friendly. The food was also better, it was a shame that the economy was run down and the playground was completely out of order. No play opportunities for children.

After a long hike, we arrived just in time, just before 12, before the “lunch rush.” Ate outside in beautiful weather. The tables, chairs and the terrace in general were very, very well maintained and clean, as was the interior and the toilets. We had a schnitzel with pepper cream sauce and a baked potato with a bouquet of salad. The small extra charge (€2.50) for fried potatoes instead of fries is absolutely worth it with the schnitzel. Fresh fried potatoes, garnished with fresh herbs and, above all, not fried too greasy. We recommend. The salad tasted great and the baked potato had enough quark/cream cheese, which is often not the case in other restaurants. The service was very, very nice and tried hard, did a great job, but we felt a bit sorry because it seemed understaffed; Then a larger company came and then it became understandably stressful; Nevertheless, the service remained very quick and extremely friendly. We definitely recommend the inn, especially with the beautiful terrace and the great view. It was the best meal we ate in Kempten 😊 It's best to come before 12 p.m. (opens at 11 a.m.) or after lunchtime so you can still get a table.

Aggressiver und arroganter Kellner. Und das Essen ist schrecklich. Das Schlimmste aller aufgewärmten, gefrorenen Fertiggerichte. Einfach schrecklich. Alte Möbel und schimmelige Sonnenschirme im Garten, die ersetzt werden müssen. Aber schöne Aussicht!

We were there on Sunday evening and it was relatively quiet, which was really nice. The food we ordered came relatively quickly and hot. The food was very good and the portion size was just right. So an excellent price/performance ratio. The restaurant is rustic, the toilet is clean. In my opinion, there are still two points of criticism: 1. The table or tablecloth was unfortunately not completely clean and had stains on it. That wasn't quite as inviting. A little more care would be nice here. 2. If I want to listen to the radio, I do it at home. Here either a playlist/CD etc. would be more pleasant or simply out. I don't need the radio while I'm eating, including news and chatter from presenters. Otherwise everything was good and I'm looking forward to the next time and in the summer, when you can sit in the chestnut beer garden, it's even nicer.

Strongly recommend visiting this place, great location, great food and great people. We booked a table and ordered a very varied selection of food from steaks to schnitzels to salads..... For a group of six nobody was dissapointed, can't wait to visit again when it warmer, as the garden area next to the chapel looks excellent to sit out and enjoy a meal or a drink. Easy to think the location is in the middle of knowhere, however for me, this is what also makes it so special..... As it attracts a customer bar who enjoy exactly that, good food, food people and great location. Strongly Recommend.

Sehr nettes und angenehmes Lokal, mit super leckerem Essen 😋. Einzig die Preise für die Getränke sind ein bisschen hoch (1L Wasserflasche = 7,20€). Das Essen ist aber sehr zu empfehlen. Besonders die Käsespätzle und das Schäufele 😋🫠.

Schöne Ausflugslocation von der man einen schönen Blick auf das Kemptner Tal haben kann. Sehr üppige Öffnungszeiten. Vielleicht lag es am trüben Herbstwetter, aber das Personal könnte noch einen Tick "gastfreundlicher" sein.

Unangekündigt mit größerer Gruppe dort gewesen, wurde souverän gehandled, Essen war lecker, Aussicht und Biergarten sehr schön und wenig Leute. Ich werd wiederkommen! (Übrigens entgegen anderer Rezension oder neuerdings - Kartenzahlung war kein Problem)

Extrem unfreundliche Bedienung!!! Scheinbar mag der Besitzer alleinreisende Frauen nicht? Der Kellner (Besitzer) wollte sich nicht mal die Mühe geben, persönlich an meinen Tisch zu kommen, um die Bestellung aufzunehmen, ich sollte ihm die Bestellung über einen anderen Tisch zurufen. Das Essen war eher mäßig, zu ölig. Zu guter Letzt wurde mir die Benutzung der Toiletten verweigert mit der fadenscheinigen Begründung: Die Toiletten sind derzeit nicht funktionsfähig. Wäre die Aussicht nicht so schön hier, wäre ich schon früher gegangen.

Toller Biergarten unter alten Kastanien mit super Bergblick und klasse Essen zu erschwinglichen Preisen. Hierher gehen wir gern!

Toller Blick...super Essen sehr empfehlenswert

Telefonische Tischreservierung: die Person am anderen Ende der Leitung macht einen nicht sehr freundlichen Eindruck. Den Tisch durften wir uns aussuchen, die bequemeren Stühle dazu nicht. Das Essen: ausbaufähig. Beim Verlassen der Örtlichkeit kein Abschiedsgruß. Schade um die landschaftlich schöne Location.

Waren wandern und sind spontan eingekehrt. Freundliches Personal, leckeres Bier und eine sehr leckere serbische Bohnensuppe! Bis zum nächsten Mal!

Sehr schön gelegener Gasthof mit traumhaftem Blick auf Kempten und die Berge. Schöner Biergarten vor dem Haus. Einrichtung schön, rustikal, alles super sauber. Toiletten tip top. Wir haben Kässpätzle, einen kleinen (!) Beilagensalat und eine Folienkartoffel mit Salat gegessen. Beide Salate waren groß, frisch zubereitet und sehr lecker. Sowohl die Kässpätzle wie auch die Folienkartoffel mit dem selbstgemachten Dip waren ebenfalls sehr lecker. Wir haben mit Getränken, Cappuccino und doppeltem Espresso knapp 40€ bezahlt. Der junge Mann, der uns bedient hat war super freundlich und schnell. Es hat uns gefallen und geschmeckt! Vielen Dank!

Lage toll. Service ok (wenn man englisch kann). Kulinarik muss man hier nicht erwarten, aber einen halbwegs schmackhaften Kartoffelsalat scheint wohl schwierig zu sein. Ausserdem kein Lokal fuer Kinder. Kinderstuehle gibt es keine und das kleine Spielhaus ist arg renovierungsbeduerftig bzw. gefaerhlich.

Sehr gutes Essen. Zuvorkommender Service. Tolle Umgebung. Gerne wieder, wenn wir wieder im Allgäu bzw. Kempten sind.
