A simply designed restaurant. The service spoke poor German, but that wasn't a problem. The food was very good, as was the price-performance ratio. The sanitary facilities were also clean. All in all, highly recommended.

Authentic Hot Pot & BBQ Lahuhu 川外川 is a good choice for those who enjoy interactive dining with hot pot/BBQ, enjoy a wide variety of options, and are open to minor shortcomings in service or ambiance. If you're looking for a perfect restaurant evening with a sophisticated atmosphere, there may be better options—but if you enjoy home-cooked meals, variety, and authentic flavors, then this is the place for you.

Very negative experience! Unfortunately, the vegetables weren't washed – there were lots of small bugs on the salad. We also called the restaurant beforehand and specifically inquired about the prices listed on the website for bringing our own drinks. However, when we arrived, we were told that the prices were higher and that there was an additional charge per bottle. For example, we had to pay €5 for each beer we brought. If you want to try hot pot, I recommend China Bros in Essen instead – both the quality and service are top-notch.

I've been here several times now and I'm always impressed! The owner is also very nice, and the service is excellent! I'll be back again and again!

I hadn't finished the meat yet, so I said I'd go out for a walk and come back to eat. My Turkish friend thought I had gone home and ran away. The boss even chased me out and gave me an umbrella. The boss was so nice. The meat was very tender, and it was still tender after BBQ. The moisture was completely locked in.

We're so happy to finally have a Korean BBQ in Dortmund. If you haven't tried it yet, you should definitely give it a try. The quality is extremely good, and the service is also excellent. An 11 out of 10, I'd say. We'll definitely be regulars❤️

Really delicious! They offer a wide variety of meat and vegetables, and you can set up your very own hot pot. I'm trying new things there every time. The employees are very friendly and helpful (if you don't know how everything works or it's your first time there). Really delicious! The selection is varied, and you can customize your hot pot to your liking. I try something new every time. The staff is friendly and happy to help even if you're not familiar with the place.

It's always very crowded and very cramped. Well, you can't say much about the food or whether the chef is good... You cook yourself 👌

Difficult. The concept is great and also sociable. The food is fresh and delicious. But the location is compact, the food has to be fetched, and running back and forth multiple times wasn't really my thing. Plus, the price is almost too high for what's on offer.

The taste was average, and the lettuce leaves were not clean, with many small bugs on them. The tables and chairs were greasy, as if they were not wiped clean, and the waiter's attitude was quite rude. In short, the dining experience was very bad, and I will never go there again.

So to cut a long story short, we had a great evening. However, there was one person in the wait staff who made us miss the atmosphere. The service seems annoyed and does everything half-heartedly. (Does not place order). We had never tried Korean BBQ before and asked how it worked. It was then explained to us that you should put baking paper on the plate and put some oil on it, but not that you should improve it much. The food was beautifully prepared and the boss was very accommodating. However, it was difficult to understand what kind of meat was in front of you (is it beef fillet or beef tongue) (we are amateurs). Sauces were amazing! The ambience was rather difficult at first pleasantly quiet and then progressively louder, more hectic and hot. There was no ventilation despite the fact that at least 6 hotpods were in operation. We also had a reservation and instead of a comfortable spot, we got one in the middle of the room. At the end we got ice cream and a present for the birthday child. As I said, despite everything, it was a nice evening and we will probably come back, just very rarely. You have to know

The taste is good, especially considering that this is in Germany :) We had a hot pot buffet, and the side dishes/cold dishes were also self-service. Vegetarian dishes are self-service, you can choose them yourself. For meat dishes, you can order them as needed. The decoration style of the restaurant is a bit like going back to the millennium in China. Compared with many European restaurants, the bathroom here is large and clean, which is worth praising.

Hotpot or altitude training? This restaurant offers a unique experience - finding out how long you can survive on minimal oxygen. The air was so thick you could have cut it (probably tastier than some of the meat here). Speaking of meat: Some pieces tasted like they had seen better days, or worse - hard to say. Conclusion: If you're looking for the thrill of gasping for air while eating and testing your immune system, you've come to the right place. Everyone else: run as long as you still have oxygen.

Food was very tasty. Our aim was to test the special method of preparation. Unfortunately, the instructions from the waiter were very short and to the point. Sometimes you didn't even know what to prepare from the buffet and what you could eat cold as a side dish. We still had a lot of fun experimenting with it and it was super tasty. The special sauce recommended by the boss was simply delicious and couldn't be topped. Given the prices, however, we are considering whether we will go again

A new culinary experience. We ordered hot pot (fire pot). We chose two very tasty broths and were able to cook our food in them. There is a selection of vegetables, noodles, tofu, sauces, etc. at the buffet. Meat and mushrooms are ordered separately. The service staff was super friendly and helpful. We didn't like the quality of the meat, everything else was really tasty 😋.

Unfortunately, we didn't have a good experience with this -all you can eat-. We ordered a lot from the menu several times that were only brought to us when we asked (bbq) Some types of meat were also not delivered for some orders. For the first time it took forever until we got grilled food to the table and some of the ingredients tasted old and rancid. We had to change the paper on the grill ourselves, which wasn't a problem in itself, but we had to ask for more paper twice. Therefore only 1 star.

We ordered both hot pot and the BBQ. The seasoned meat was especially great! Not too spicy but really flavorful. Unfortunately there is no cloakroom, so the jackets had to go into the wash because everything smelled of BBQ grease. Sometimes it was difficult to communicate with the staff. It was our first time there and we wanted a bit of guidance on what to do but because the store was full there was unfortunately no time to explain anything to us and in general the service could be a bit better. Nevertheless, I would go there again

The Lahuhu restaurant is horribly run down in some side street. Anyone who dares to go in will be greeted unfriendly. If this is your first time, have fun finding out what works and how. The chairs are too high for the table, everything is old and run down. The kitchen, which you can see through slits in the cover on the window, is also not really inviting. Anyone who goes here voluntarily has probably never been to good restaurants. The ingredients seemed fresh, the meat was tasty but I think €75 for two people is just too much for a pub atmosphere

The petsonal was friendly. The food good. Plenty of choice. Also for vegetarians and vegans We had HotPot and a table grill. Everything was delicious and plentiful. It's not a stylish newly decorated restaurant. But when you sit at the table and eat, you don't even notice it anymore.

We have been there three times now and feel very well looked after there. On the one hand, the food is really great, especially the quality of the meat is excellent and on the other hand, everyone is really very friendly and accommodating, especially Mr. Chung Ping Zhang, the owner of the restaurant, who goes out of his way to give his guests a great evening and for one Always have stimulating small talk. He explains everything you want to know about Chinese/Korean cuisine and gives valuable tips on how to get the best out of this cuisine. The restaurant itself may seem a bit inconspicuous and unspectacular, but that is very deceptive, the food is simply amazing and Mr. Zhang is very attentive to his guests! We almost developed a friendly relationship with him. So thumbs up and honestly meant 5 stars for this great restaurant!

Best food to cook yourself (so to speak). The BBQ in conjunction with the hot pot is an absolute recommendation. The operators are friendly and it's just a great shop!

We spontaneously went to Lahuhu and managed to get a place because it was so early, but it got very crowded very quickly in the evening. It was our first time eating hotpot and we would have liked a little more guidance, especially since we said we had no idea. We ordered “too much” and ended up having to eat more than we wanted because the portion sizes were impossible for us to estimate. The ingredients on display were fresh (although you could refill more often instead of waiting until the last two leaves of pak choi were used up), the adjustable ingredients were all (still) frozen. I can't judge how authentic Lahuhu is, but overall we liked it!

Were there for the first time. Everything was explained in detail about how grilling at the table works. Was fun. You got full. Very polite and helpful staff. Maybe not for everyone. It was perfect for us.

We were the first at Lahuhu Dortmund today. At first I couldn't imagine HotPot, but thanks to the great staff it was a successful evening. There is a large selection of meat, fish and crustaceans. The buffet also has lots of vegetables, salad, pasta and lots of sauces and dips. So anyone who wants to experience something special shouldn't miss the Lahuhu.

We didn't have a proper explanation of how everything worked and when we asked a question, the chubby crouched waiter responded very annoyed and unfriendly. No ventilation, the whole room stank of fish. It was brought to the table which we didn't order either.

Once and never again. The ambience is simple and seems slightly dingy. The air is saturated with food steam and there is no open window. The food is somewhat ok, but the use of materials is rather inferior. Absolutely not appropriate for the asking price. The two waiters present that evening couldn't have been more different. The older one was very friendly and polite, the slightly heavier waiter with the glasses was quite unfriendly. When we asked to explain the food ordering process in more detail, we received a curt answer. All in all, you should save yourself a visit to this restaurant and invest the money in a nicer restaurant.

There was a fat waiter who acted like I owed him money and asked why. He was very reluctant. For the sake of the boss and I also do the same job, I won't give a bad review. But I think this waiter needs to be remade. If he doesn't want to do the work, it's okay. Regardless of whether the food tastes good or not, I will never go there again!

Ordered both Hot pot and BBQ, both were amazing the food is top level. Making your own sauce is very fun and enjoying. The only downside is that the staff does not speak english at all. Was a little expensive, but worth it.

Eating out “with a difference”. A great restaurant for anyone who wants to try out a new way of eating. You get a two-part pot placed in the middle of the table in which two different hot soups/broths are simmering (you can choose between 4-5 soups). You can also order meat and vegetables that are then cooked in these broths. Similar to fondue, only instead of fat there are soups. There is also a buffet where you can help yourself to other vegetables, pasta, sauces and much more. The service is really good. Very friendly, explanatory and quick. We as a family have been there for the second time and will definitely come more often because it is delicious and everyone has fun.

The very best that Dortmund has to offer

Went there for the first time recently and so far it's one of the best restaurants I've ever tried. The mix of Korean BBQ and Chinese hotpot is terrific. You stay busy all the time and have fun preparing food. The selection is great, the staff is very friendly and both the portions and the price are absolutely satisfactory. There were two of us there and we paid a total of just under €90 after 2.5 hours. I think it's a little cheaper if you don't order as much as we did, but we wanted to treat ourselves and we got an incredible amount for the money

The food was amazing and really authentic. The service was also very pleasant with a rather quaint atmosphere. Fair warning tho, if something says spicy, it is most likely very spicy.

It was quite tasty, but the waiters ignored orders and we were also overcharged. 67€ for two people. We only ordered hotpot. The food was very tasty but definitely not worth €30. I can recommend the restaurant to anyone who has the money and the patience, but definitely not a recommendation for the average consumer with an IQ over 20

Not recommended. Food is really anything but tasty. All frozen goods. Meat inedible. Went there as a couple, paid over €70 and didn't eat anything tasty. For that price, just buy a hot pot and ingredients and make it yourself. I have a stomach ache and am only on the way back. More than dissatisfied.

Very tasty hotpot and table BBQ with a very large selection and great staff. We like to drive over an hour every time to get to our favorite hotpot restaurant. Highly Recommended!

We ate at Lahuhu for the second time today, we chose HotPot and BBQ. There was a large and exotic selection of meat and vegetables of great quality. You can order as much as you want. Very tasty broths and great marinades. The staff was very nice and accommodating. They responded very well to requests and questions. We will continue to be guests at Lahuhu and can only recommend it to everyone.

First BBQ and hot pot. There were two of us. Was super tasty. Everything was very clean and quick service. Many compatriots also ate there, which was, as expected, a very good sign. Even better: our little dog was allowed to come along too. We will be back

If you would like to spontaneously try out authentic hot pot or BBQ grill, I can absolutely recommend the restaurant. There aren't many in the area. I am satisfied with the restaurant here at Lahuhu and am glad that there is a shop like this here in Dortmund. However, if you expect a very good hot pot or BBQ grill and have time and money, then you should go to Düsseldorf. In any case, no one can come close to the Asian restaurants in Düsseldorf, which are more expensive and therefore of better quality. + very friendly and cheerful waiter or boss, with whom you can even have a drink! + cozy (older) Asian atmosphere in a quiet area in downtown Dortmund + delicious hot pot with 2 broths (The hottest broth is really very hot! The beef broth gets tastier from time to time with the ingredients) + sufficient selection of fresh ingredients at the pasta/vegetable/sauce buffet + the hot pot meat is most likely the typical pre-cut frozen meat that you can also buy in the Asian shop, but it's not exactly cheap either! + authentic spicy Asian salads + reasonable price-performance ratio - a little little space in the 4-person seat for more than 2 people

The price is okay for adults. Hotpot per person €28 + drinks pay extra. But for children aged 3 to 11 you have to pay €15 per child. Personally I think it's very bad. What can a 3 year old child eat? For example, my daughter only ate a small dumpling and we paid the children's price for that. So, it's better to go there without children.

Was received nicely. Setup doesn't work at all. Food ok for what is on offer too expensive! When ordering, they try to serve dishes that were not ordered in order to obtain a surcharge of 5 euros per dish, which is fraud.

We were there last night to celebrate a few friends' birthdays. We ordered the grill and the hotpot. The owner is super friendly and toasted our birthdays with us. The food came quickly and was super tasty. I can only recommend it as a group activity. You cook together and share the food. The place is great, the ingredients are fresh and you immediately feel at home. The price-performance ratio is great and I would definitely go there again.

The ambience is a bit dated, but not bad. The location on site is a bit difficult by car (parking garage nearby). The meal is available for 31.90 and also includes a larger drink and the 🥗 bar and everything else (sauces). The meat was great and there was a varied selection. I deducted one star because the broth was refilled after a second time, but then the taste was no longer there. All in all a visit that is worth it if you are looking for hot pot in Dortmund. Gladly again!

Neither the food was good, nor the service or the ambience. When we asked for a short introduction (it was our first time eating hot pot), there was little understanding and a few words of explanation, so we still didn't know how the whole thing worked. The meat, especially the beef, was expired and tasted very, very disgusting. It's hard to describe, but it had such a strange texture and even the meat, which came unseasoned, tasted very disgusting. Do yourself a favor and actually go eat somewhere else. I would prefer zero Give stars, I've rarely been so disappointed.

The three of us went to a hotpot restaurant for the first time. Unfortunately, the information at the beginning was a bit difficult, so we then ordered HotPot and BBQ. We then filled the order with a bit of luck and then somehow got some twice and some (we think) we didn't get. We then tried things out - some were really tasty, others were a bit strange and probably ended up in the wrong pot :-) Overall, it's a cool concept, but it's definitely possible to implement it in a more customer-friendly way. At the end of the day it was quite expensive at ~120€ for 2 adults and 1 child

We ordered the hot pot + barbecue buffet. The quality of the meat was poor, the soup base was lackluster, and most importantly, both of us were very, very thirsty after having two drinks each. Even though most of the food is terrible, here’s what it says: The boss (or store manager) who received us at first was very kind and polite, but the attitude of the waiter was so bad that it was shocking. Like many who have reviewed here, this was our first and definitely last time eating here.

The employees seemed very overwhelmed and were sometimes unfriendly. Everything took a very, very long time. The hotpot system there seems like a scam for fraud. The second time we ordered meat, we waited about 45 minutes for it. At the end of the evening the restaurant resembled a battlefield, all the unoccupied tables were empty of guests but all the dirty dishes were still on them. This is clearly better.

I ordered hot pot and barbecue, and the food was served very slowly for 20 minutes+. I ordered it twice, and every time there was something missing. Even if I pointed it out, it would not be replenished. The meat rolls were scattered. The cold dishes are good, the barbecue is okay, the seasoning area is rich, and the waiters are very enthusiastic. By the way, two people are the same price, and multiple people are the same price.

It was our first time at a HotPot restaurant and we wouldn't come back. Unfortunately, the atmosphere of the restaurant was not very comfortable. The chairs are way too high for the tables and everything is a bit outdated. There were dirty, not perfectly translated menu cards at the table that we didn't really understand. Unfortunately, we were missing an “introduction” to the hotpot concept. We only knew from other reviews that you had to write the desired number on the cards. Since we don't know much about Asian food other than a vacation in Thailand and Asian buffets, all we could do was throw the vegetables and noodles we took from the buffet, as well as the meat brought by the waiter, into the "soup" according to our own taste and after a short while to fish out again. The meat was slightly frozen, the vegetables looked very fresh. Paying €27.90 per person, without a nice atmosphere, without explanations and without replenishment of drinks was a bit expensive for us, considering that you have to prepare your own food at the table. It's a shame that we didn't like the concept due to a lack of explanations or recipe suggestions. We won't do this again. For the price you could also go to a better Asian restaurant.

Great thing. Were here for the first time last week. We received good advice and were still overwhelmed for the first time. The next time we visit, we now know that the number of pieces of meat, or whatever else you can mark on the cards, will be counted times the number of visitors. That means: we thought we would order 4 chicken breasts for all of us, but 16 thin chicken breasts arrived. It's definitely enough for 4 people. Putting a 1 everywhere. It's always possible to order. Definitely again.

There were four of us there and we chose the BBQ+Hotpot All-You-Can-War. Food was good, fresh and the selection was very good. The service was good and friendly, unfortunately a bit slow. Prices for everything were okay and reasonable! The only drawback: the ambience was not good. The tables weren't really clean and overall it didn't seem inviting.

Great concept, great food, but most of all great staff!

We ate here for the first time today, there was enough selection and the taste was okay. Service also very nice. Old-fashioned atmosphere. What bothered me was that not everything I ordered always arrived.

Our expectations were exceeded! Everything was very tasty and fresh. Great broths. You can order as much as you want, all-you-can-eat, great! It's not like that in every restaurant these days! Visited the restaurant for the first time, the reception was friendly, we were led to the back of the restaurant with 6 people, the ambience did not invite you to stay longer. We ordered hot pot and BBQ. It took a while for newbies like us to understand the ordering concept. The service was very friendly and helpful, although the language was sometimes a bit difficult. The products we ordered didn't always arrive consistently, and some things from the first order arrived on the third. The meat was of mediocre quality The buffet selection was so mediocre. Conclusion for me: tried something new, went home with mixed feelings, won't necessarily eat there again

We were there a few days ago for the first time and the last time. We were very disappointed the rooms were run down/dirty. Heating was done with a catalytic stove. The meat was frozen and the vegetables were older. The prices you find here no longer correspond to reality but are actually much more expensive and the drink that was supposed to come with it doesn't exist either 😃 not recommended, you're really annoyed!

Kein schönes Ambiente, Essen naja…. kann mal machen aber das reicht dann auch. Das Personal war sehr nett und sehr hilfsbereit auch wenn sie nicht gut deutsch verstehen.

Wir waren zum Geburtstag hier essen. Das essen war sehr lecker und die Getränke kamen auch in vernünftiger Größe. Man kriegt alles was man möchte und wir werden definitiv wieder kommen.

Das Essen war relativ gut und hat echt Spaß gemacht sein Essen sozusagen selbst zu kreieren!!

Das war eine interessante Erfahrung. Bisher habe ich nie Hot Pot gegessen und hatte rechtzeitig einen Tisch für zwei reserviert. Als wir dort angekommen sind, hat uns das Personal begrüßt und ein bisschen erklärt, wie das Ganze funktioniert. Wir haben uns für beide Optionen (Hot Pot und Grill) entschieden. Hätte mir die Portionen größer vorgestellt aber war genug Essen. Achtung, wenn man mehr als man isst bestellt, muss man ein Gebühr bezahlen. Ich empfehle, nur die richtigen Portionen zu nehmen. Gefühlt haben wir viel mit genügendem leckeren Essen gegessen aber der Preis war eigentlich zu teuer... Das hat mir nicht so gut gefallen. Trotzdem ist es ist auf jeden Fall wert, was Neues zu probieren.

Lohnt sich nur wegen des Essens ( Hot Pot und Grill).
