Ladezone in Harzgerode

We had planned to enjoy a relaxing coffee break at the Marktklause café with coffee and cake. After the waitress asked if we wanted to eat, we said we just wanted coffee and a slice of cake. To our surprise, however, no cake was offered; the menu only listed waffles in various styles and apple strudel. So we opted for an espresso, waffles with powdered sugar, and an apricot punch. The drinks arrived quickly, but they were disappointing in terms of taste: the espresso wasn't even made in the available coffee machine. Instead, it tasted like a brewed instant cappuccino with vanilla flavoring and had little in common with a real espresso. The apricot punch tasted like a simple instant drink from East German times – at least it was hot. The waffles were freshly baked, but very dry and prepared without any sugar, which unfortunately detracted significantly from the enjoyment. Overall, our visit unfortunately did not meet our expectations for a coffee break. The service was friendly, but the food and drinks offered were not convincing. Too bad...

The options in Güntersberge are limited. We were there on a short vacation and stopped in twice at the Schmunzelstube. Everything is a bit dated. The view of the lake is great. The food and drinks are good. Unfortunately, only cash payments are accepted. Self-service. If you don't have excessively high expectations, you'll be fine there. Parking is available in front of the door. We were pleased with the rustic ambiance. :-)

The calzone dough was far too floury and the ham was like a sausage! Never again...

Very little meat in the doner kebab🤔

We were here today quite by chance, and only in the afternoon, so it's a rather unusual time for lunch. From the outside, it looks like an unassuming restaurant by the sports field, but we were pleasantly surprised in several ways: cozy, tastefully and lovingly decorated, great, impeccable service that truly deserves 5 stars, and wonderful food. Everything is freshly prepared and absolutely delicious.
