La Taverna in Alzenau

Excellent cuisine, from salads and pasta to pizza, fish, and steak. Consistently excellent quality and service for 20 years. Fast, friendly, and reliable service is a real plus, as is the wonderful ambiance with its many plants. Tip: The homemade tiramisu is a must-try.

I've been visiting this restaurant alone, with family, or with friends for almost 20 years. The high quality of the food and drinks, the friendly staff (with very low turnover), and the excellent, top-notch service speak for themselves. We always receive very friendly service, and our requests, whether we're traveling with a child or a dog, are always taken into account.

The food is very good, portions medium sized, one service employee was a bit unfriendly, everyone else was nice and accommodating.

La Taverna is a great place to eat! Whether it's pizza, pasta, or the beef fillet cooked on a hot stone...they taste excellent and are fresh. There are usually daily specials on the "regular" menu, and it's highly recommended to try them. The service is excellent, especially the way they interact with children. We highly recommend La Taverna. In the summer, you can enjoy the beer garden outside, and during the rest of the year, you can enjoy the wonderful Mediterranean atmosphere inside. We'd be happy to return anytime!

After the disappointment at 'Damiro am See,' we returned here. As always: outstanding service, food quality, and ambiance! We'd happily return! Highly recommended! Pure culinary experience!

Many trees and plants in the restaurant

A visit to La Taverna is highly recommended if you value a beautiful ambiance. The variety of exotic plants is impressive and offers guests a break from everyday life. The food at La Taverna offers something for every taste. Meat, fish, and vegetarian dishes are all good value for money. The staff is super friendly and you just feel completely at home. We would love to come back and look forward to our next visit to La Taverna!

Food, ambience and waiters excellent

Many plants, however, have room for improvement in their care. The food was a real disappointment. We had pizza, schnitzel, steak... Only the steak was worth the money. The schnitzel was a convenience product, and the pizza also came from the freezer, noticeably round and loaded with toppings. It's a shame, as the prices suggest something different. In the end, it's all a matter of taste; ours fell far short, which is a shame...

I've known La Taverna for decades. The ambiance is exceptionally beautiful, and you feel welcome. My companions and I enjoyed the food. There was nothing to complain about. Unfortunately, the service isn't as attentive as it used to be. The young man (the waiter) walked past our table three times, saw that my companion had an empty glass of beer in front of him, and didn't ask if I wanted another. That was before the meal. Only after asking was a new beer served. That didn't happen in the past. The staff still needs training. The prices are a bit high. The rump steak, €32, is quite expensive. But it's a great restaurant. I highly recommend La Taverna.

You have to go there, everything is right, even good parking

Just arrived from California and we where looking for a place that was a mix of German and Italian, we got lucky and found a place hidden in Alzenau, Germany that had an ambience second to no other restaurant, WOW, talk about being impressed. The food was fantastic, out of this world. If you go during the spargel season, try the Spargelauflauf, you will have to let this dish cool for 10 minutes before attempting to eat; best baked dish I have ever had in my 74 years visiting different country’s. (LA Taverna ROCKS)!

Rather inconspicuous from the outside, rustic inside, the better value for money! Was here with a friend (insider tip) and was not disappointed. Great dressing for the side salad, fries as they should be, the schnitzel tasted very good - no expectations were left unfulfilled

Exceptional location. It's basically a kind of greenhouse. Lots and lots of plants. It is very nice. I've never had anything like that before. The eater is also very tasty. However, a little bit more expensive than other Italian restaurants I know. It is advisable to reserve a table for Saturday evening.

The place is a beautiful “primeval forest,” with beautiful, large plants everywhere. The staff were extremely friendly without being intrusive. The quality of the food is at a high level and the price/performance ratio is absolutely top.

Mediocre to bad food. It was even better 3 years ago. Currently frozen schnitzel with ready-mixed sauce, ready-made salad sauce. The service didn't understand and you had to repeat yourself a few times. We won't get there anymore.

You really can't complain about the taste here, everything tasted very good. However, 1 star deducted for the quantity of the main course of the Christmas menu, because 6 tortelloni filled with porcini mushrooms at an estimated €3 per piece (if not more) will not fill you up. Furthermore, 1 star deduction for the waitress, who, despite explicit instructions that I would like to drink my drink straight from the bottle, simply filled it into a (very unwieldy) glass (if the guest says something like that, there is a reason and if so If you don't understand someone - for whatever reason - you should ask and not just do anything).

The food was delicious, unfortunately it came at different times for everyone, but it was really well attended that evening. But it still shouldn't happen. But it was also the first time that this happened to us, otherwise we always got our food together.

We had various pizzas, lasagna, salad, soup and fish salad. All the dishes were really very good. The use of fresh, excellent ingredients could certainly be eliminated, which justifies the price level. Ambience known and unique, service 1a.

The best veal liver I've ever had, sensational

First and last time. We thought we would try a new Italian restaurant in the area. We were seated as a family at 5:35 p.m., after 25 minutes of waiting at our seat, someone finally came to ask if we would like anything? After we had the menu in our hands (high prices), it took another 20 minutes until someone came by again to take drinks and order. No, there wasn't much going on and we were still made to wait for 45 minutes until then... Eat: We ordered 2x pizza plus children's schnitzel. A children's schnitzel for €12.50 and then something like that? Totally overpriced and the quality wasn't good. Plus ketchup + mayo out of the bag. The schnitzel had something of a swimming pool character. The pizzas were also at the level of a frozen pizza with extra toppings. The pizza plates were broken and had sharp marks. Of course, food and quality are always subjective and a matter of taste, but we weren't blown away here. Conclusion: The ambience is positive. All in all we won't come again.

Very good wine recommendation The starter was the seafood salad. Tastes very good. Main course was fried sea bass with fried potatoes and fried vegetables. The taste was also very good and beautifully presented on the plate. The only complaint was the dill on the plate (fortunately only as a garnish on the side). A. There is no Italian fish dish with dill - at least that's what the Italian chefs I asked tell me. B. If I want fish with dill, I go to a German restaurant. I was here with my wife. She had pasta and I had pizza. The pasta was delicious, but the pizza was a disaster: the dough was pale and undercooked, even raw in places. The cheese wasn't melted, and if you bit too much at once you could choke. I thought to myself, do they bake the pizza in the oven or do they steam it? I won't go there anymore.

The ambience is really very nice and extraordinary. Unfortunately, the food is a stark contrast. We ate there with a larger group. The Rigatoni alla Chef was bland and what little flavor came through was underwhelming. My friend's schnitzel had the quality of a fast food place. Steak was twice overdone and dry and the rest of the group weren't thrilled with their food either. We won't be coming back.
