La Favela Restaurant in München

Great alternative place to visit. Cool, hipster vibes, with some simple, tasty dishes, great caipirinhas and an amazing dessert trio to end with… all inside a converted train car. Live music was great on the Sunday evening. We were lucky to get a table for 4 - 6 wouldn’t have squeezed in without a booking inside - but lots of tables outside (a little chilly in the autumn!).

Mega ambience in an old subway car. Delicious food and had very good and incredibly friendly service with Manuel! Absolute recommendation and we will definitely come back.

Flawless ! Everything was perfect ! Ammaaazing food, honestly, amazing ! Make sure to ask for the hot sauce !!! The cheese balls and chicken balls were perfect! We had like a meat casserole (Auflauf) which was great and very veryyyy friendly staff. ! Probably, one of the best Restaurants in Munich!

I think I only liked the atmosphere. The waiter asked for the bill while we were eating, that was really awkward... They were really not good at service. We ordered the picanha but the meat was not so tender and juicy... I think there are definitely better options out there in the city for the Brazilian cuisine. Just pay €5 more, and you will be dined way better than here...

We didn't find it that tasty, not very spicy, small portion, pricy. It's a shame that you can't look out from the inside, you only see the sprayed windows.

Food was very tasty. I visited the restaurant with 3 Brazilians and everyone really enjoyed the authentic food. The only drawback was the cold rooms (10°C outside temperature). In the colder seasons it is better to pack a sweater. The rustic atmosphere fits the name. We still felt very comfortable.

Cool vibe, cool location, typical Brazilian food. Unfortunately for what you get it's a little bit pricey. But it's great for a little snack and drinking a few beers with your girlfriend. Really nice place and very friendly service. And the 5 of us spontaneously got a place on a Friday evening.

Very pleasant atmosphere. Service somewhat slow. The portions were very small, which surprised me, as they looked well served in the photos... Coxinha had olives and corn, which unfortunately ends up taking all the taste of the coxinha's filling. The picanha meat was very good. Caipirinha was very good.

I ordered the picanha and it came with one and a half pieces, but photos always show 3 pieces. So the photos can deceive you. But the food is really good and fresh. With the exception of the kitchen that has corn and olives, it frankly doesn't make sense

The place is cool, just classic hipsterism. But seriously, people: waiting 50 minutes for fries and cheese balls and then being told these prices is just completely confusing. I loved it! The food is amazing, the atmosphere is nice and the staff are very friendly. I recommend it, without a doubt, to anyone who is visiting Munich and wants to satisfy their longing for Brazilian food. Great restaurant inside an abandoned Ubahn wagon. The Brazilian food was very good. I highly recommend going there and trying their traditional dishes, especially the Picanha.

Very interesting Place, With great Brazilian, hors d’oeuvres and food. Very legit. Their appetizers which are very popular in Brazil tasted fantastic and were just like the originals. They have all the classic dishes that you get in Brazil (pretty much the classic). the staff are for the most part Brazilian or very closely related to Brazil so the warmness and friendliness and serving is natural. If you have never been to Brazil and want to get a little taste of it, this is a good place to start.

On the advice of a friend, I opened here and after a few wrong turns I found the entrance. I didn't know the area of ​​​​the "Bahnwacht Thiel" before and was amazed. The restaurant itself is housed in an old subway car, also has a beer garden in front of it and is clearly marked in graffiti style (see photo). The restaurant is run by a Brazilian woman and her daughter, and the menu is correspondingly authentic - I only recognized “Paulaner Spezi” and that was enough for me as a sign of quality. 😅 I visited the restaurant with an exiled Brazilian, so I didn't have to guess for long and relied on his recommendation. FANTASTIC! I had jerky with cassava root chips and loved it. The audience is very mixed, rather younger, students, Brazilians and Portuguese who have chosen Munich as their new home, a few free spirits and a few who didn't know where to go, it was a relaxed, relaxed atmosphere. Important - be sure to reserve a table! There aren't many tables. One drawback should be mentioned - the toilet facilities, well, need to be overcome. In the dark, however, you can see them very well.

A must go in Munich! I was visiting Munich and googled Brazilian or Argentinian restaurants as I was looking for a nice meat restaurant and came across La Favela and went all over for it! Amazing and original facilities and the Picanha and Feijão Preto were amazing! I will definitely go back when I’m in Munich.

Very nice interior. Food took a bit long, and after 40 minutes waiting I had to leave, so unfortunately I had to cancel my order. I had just order a starter dish. All well and good, but then immediately the waiter starts talking behind my back to other customers complaining that I think this is a McDonald’s or something in German so I couldn’t understand. Unnecessary and a bit uncomfortable in my view..

Unprofessional! We called them to reserve, they told us that after 8 o'clock they did not make reservations but we could go when a table became available. We went, they told us to wait outside that a table would be available soon, we waited 1 hour and a half and nothing. They could have told us the truth from the beginning!

The feijoada was very tasty. We were disappointed with the Caipirinhas that we know from Brazil: with good cachaça, white sugar, ice and fruit. Here they simply poured juice with alcohol and large ice cubes into the glass. It's a shame, because a Caipirinha Maracuja is so delicious and you can't get it anywhere else in Germany. That's why we were so looking forward to it and were unfortunately disappointed.

To start: this is an opinion for a Brazilian living in Munich. Super nice people… Brazilian staff (at least part of it), very nice and quick. This first time we just went for snacks.. Mandioca Frita and a plate of Salgadinhos. Both were super nice and fresh. Very crispy in the outside, super tasty… perfectly done! We are definetely coming back for a full meal!

As a Brazilian I loved the quality and authenticity they have there. The Feijoada / Picanha and Caipirinha are a must. I’ll be there again soon.

Unfortunately, we were a bit unlucky in that we sat right at the entrance/passage, so the aisle seats were a bit cramped, especially when the waiters or new guests came or had to pass by. There was a good selection of Brazilian dishes. Since I have never eaten anything from this kitchen myself, I was very excited about it. I chose a dish from the daily menu and was definitely not disappointed. The meat was very tender and everything was seasoned perfectly. The “farofa” with plantains in particular was a highlight. In fact, it is offered with many dishes. The dessert (chocolate mousse) was also very tasty. The main courses came very quickly, but unfortunately we had to wait a little long for the desserts. The service staff were also very friendly. The only negative point for me is the price. The main course was a bit overpriced for the quantity. But the taste, ambience and service were great.

Unfortunately, in winter the cold wind whistles through the leaky doors, making it difficult for the fiery stove to reach it. All courses on the small menu are quite good in terms of quality and taste (for example starter Salgados, main course Escondidinho, dessert Pudim de Leite), only the meat skewers are disappointingly tough.

I was excited about the idea of ​​converting a subway car into a restaurant. There aren't enough unusual places like this in Munich and I want to support that. 5 stars for originality. But more could have been done with the space. In my opinion, the food was too expensive for what you got. Service was nice, but felt more like a leisure activity. Sorry. Overall a unique experience. But all is not well yet. Price-performance is not yet right - the subway car is not enough to compensate for the weaknesses. But three stars would be too mean. I wish the owners much success but they should still work a little on the icing on the cake.

A super nice, small restaurant in an old Munich S-Bahn car. Despite having a reservation, we had to share a table. Unfortunately, the cloakroom is right next to the door, stealing the jackets wouldn't be a problem at all, nobody would notice. The live music was nice, a really great singer. But unfortunately much, much too loud for me. His voice would have flooded the tiny car even without a loudspeaker. I couldn't have a conversation or enjoy my food and beer. The chicken is the first thing I left aside, although fried chicken is my favorite dish and I know all of its variations. It was just rancid and tasted like old fish smells. Beer was served from a bottle, everyone else got a glass. (It was a first for me, bottled beer in the restaurant) The food is really expensive and the portions are small. You can also eat at a star chef instead. Starter 10-16, main course between 20 and 35 euros. Giving 3 stars would be too mean given the effort, the location and the fact that the cook cooks in the driver's cab of the wagon (probably 3 m²) :).

Authentisches brasilianisches Essen

Super nett, super Essen, was eine Überraschung – und mal was ganz anderes!

My husband (who is Brazilian) and I came here. The vibe is relaxed and unique inside an underground train. The food like the feijoada is pretty good and close to what you get in Brazil. I think when we went they weren't serving alcohol. It's definitely not a place you go with a large group or a place you can get really comfortable and hang out in.

Positiv: Außergewöhnliche Location - sowas kennt man normalerweise nur aus Berlin Sehr freundliche Bedienung Sehr nettes, angenehmes cliente Das Essen ist phänomenal - sowohl die Vorspeise, als auch die Hauptspeise waren qualitativ und geschmacklich hervorragend Zu empfehlen sind definitiv die Käsebällchen vorweg und das Steak als Hauptspeise Reservierung hat problemlos geklappt Negativ: Wenn man es nicht kennt, dauert es etwas, bis man es findet Als wir angekommen sind dauerte es rund 10 Minuten bis wir die Karten bekommen haben und weitere 15 Minuten bis die Vorspeise kam - jedoch muss man dazu sagen, dass die Bedienung sich mehrfach entschuldigt hat und es auch wirklich extrem voll war Fazit: Eine absolute Empfehlung. Wir werden wieder kommen :)

What can I say - felt like home. Took me a lot of tries to find an authentic Brazilian restaurant. Nothing fancy, just good and tasty. If you like feijoada and picanha, give it a try!

Der Bahnwagon als Restaurant ist ausgefallen und sehr zu empfehlen, wenn man ein paar Bier trinken will. Die Preise für das Essen sind übertrieben und die Portionen sehr klein. Das Essen schmeckt okay. Weder besonders gut, noch besonders schlecht. Daher meine klare Empfehlung wo anders etwas zu Essen und dann auf ein paar Drinks in den Wagon zu gehen.

The food was excellent, however the service could be improved. It's very messy. We arrived by 2pm when they opened but were told nothing is prepared yet and that we can only order drinks. Had to wait almost 1 hour just to order food and then more 30 minutes for it to arrive. The table next to us had to wait 2 hours for their food! This is ridiculous. It wasn't even crowded. Please do something about it 🙏

We had a fantastic experience at La Favela! This authentic Brazilian restaurant, housed in a renovated train car surrounded by old containers covered in graffiti, offers a unique and vibrant atmosphere. The dishes were truly authentic and delicious, showcasing the rich flavors of Brazilian cuisine. Friendly service! The waiter was polite and knowledgeable, happily suggesting dishes for us to try. The music and overall atmosphere were lively and happy, adding to the enjoyable dining experience. We particularly enjoyed the Porcao de Mandioca Frita but the highlight of the meal was definitely the Feijoada. It had a delightful combination of flavors that left us wanting more. Overall, La Favela, although a little pricey, is a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic Brazilian dining experience.

Absolutely loved the food and the experience, It was almost as if you were in a mad max film. I can't wait to go back and take videos.
