Kwan Kao in Stuttgart

The food is delicious, authentic Thai flavors, and packed with ingredients. I've been here many times and will continue to come. The staff are lovely and provide excellent service. If you come in large groups, you should make a reservation because the restaurant is always full.

I ate at Kwan Kao on Rotebühlstrasse in Stuttgart a few times over the past couple of months. Once with a friend and once alone, and I have to say: the food is truly fantastic. The Thai dishes, in particular, are incredibly delicious, fresh, and authentic. Most of the waiters are also super friendly and attentive. However, both times we had the same server (black hair, speaks very good German, presumably the owner's daughter), and unfortunately, her service was extremely disappointing. She greets you very curtly, comes across as unfriendly, and not at all accommodating. The way she spoke to us was sometimes even condescending, as if she were arrogant about who she was. On our first visit, we were also given the wrong change. My friend noticed that €10 was missing, and I was €6 short. When we pointed this out, we were simply told that we probably couldn't do math. No apology, no acknowledgment – ​​nothing. When we asked to speak to the manager, she simply stated that she was the manager. Despite this incident, I recently went back because I really enjoyed the food, but even then I wasn't greeted or even looked at, just rushed through. Extremely rude again. It's a real shame, because the food is excellent, but because of this one employee, I won't be coming back. A good restaurant shouldn't fail because one person treats guests so disrespectfully.

It's really almost typical Thai food. It's been adapted to our tastes and spice levels. Thai women especially love eating here. The service was exceptional too!

I came here while searching for Thai food during our trip in Stuttgart. I can tell that the taste is truly authentic — just like eating in Thailand. The staff are very friendly and always smiling. There are various types of meat which also include vegetarian to choose from on the menu. I recommend coming here by public transport. It’s near the U-Bahn Schwabstraße station.

It was my first time here. The restaurant was 80% full of occupancy. The food took an hour without a mention and there was neither and apologize. During the service the staff were correct and professional. The food was great ( cheap chicken quality ) the atmosphere was nice.

Very delicious food, especially the excellent Manho Sticky Rice – it tasted like Thailand! Everything else was great, too. Making a reservation online was very easy, and the service was also very good.

FACTS / REASON FOR THE COMPLAINT "The meat cold storage facility had a temperature above 20°C. The duck and chicken meat stored there had an internal temperature of 11.4°C to 15.5°C." INSTRUCTIONS FOR CORRECTION AND REMARKS "The meat, a total of approximately 25 kg, was disposed of." I hope that those responsible have now thoroughly eliminated the identified deficiencies and introduced permanent, effective hygiene and quality control measures.

Authentic Thai cuisine, but the dishes are way too spicy!!! We ordered a curry and a Pad Thai via delivery service, but unfortunately, they didn't ask us how spicy we wanted them. We generally like our food a bit spicier, but in this case, it was a bit too much of a good thing.

We were pleasantly surprised; the dining room is lovingly decorated and has a unique concept. The tables are beautifully decorated. Everything is very clean. The service is fast, polite, and accommodating, but not intrusive. The food was excellent, with just the right amount of spice for me. The "Dining Room" is now off our Thai list. We will definitely be back.

The Thai food was very good and authentic! Highly recommend for vegetarians where you can select almost all dishes and make a vegetarian version of it with Tofu or vegetables. Great flavours and good service. This is one of our favourite Thai places in Stuttgart.

Yes, the food is fine. However, I heard that they simply continued using a broken refrigerator. Even with poultry. So that's where the fun stops. I don't want to get sick. That shouldn't happen in a restaurant. Then there's just NO poultry that day. And if you lie once... It's still the same people. No special food for the prices they charge, there are better

Delicious food, unfortunately not quite as authentic as it used to be. Nice, friendly service, but unfortunately, they don't pay enough attention to their customers. I'm happy to come back, though.

In my opinion, the food was very tasty and the service was great as well. We had Miang Kam as a starter — I would definitely recommend it. I tried it for the first time, and the flavors were truly splendid. For the main course, I had Pad Phet, and my wife had Pad Med Mamuang. Both dishes were delicious and well-prepared. Overall, a great dining experience!

From a Thai restaurant I would have never expected the waitress to be so rude! That makes the evening a little uneasy. However the food was okay and the atmosphere in the restaurant was very unique.

Our lunch dishes cost 11.90 and 13.90, respectively. They were delicious, but I don't think the price-performance ratio for a lunch menu is quite right.

The ambiance is pleasant, with very nice decor. We received good advice on our food selection, ordered a few dishes, and tried them out. I'm very satisfied and would recommend it to anyone.

The food was delicious and the service was (partially) friendly, hence the 3 stars. Unfortunately, you don't feel welcome with a child or stroller. We were asked on the phone if we could come by car, as there was limited space for the stroller. Outside, we had to move several times because the stroller was always "in the way." Overall, it was quite a back-and-forth, even though there was more than enough space. The worst part, however, was the long wait. We waited about 1.5 hours for our food and then unfortunately received the wrong food. After almost 2 hours, our correct food finally arrived.

Seit Eröffnung in der Rotebühlstr. und auch bereits davor in der Ludwigstrasse war ich gerne regelmäßiger Gast im Kwan Kao, da das Essen wirklich immer sehr lecker war. Gerne bestellen wir auch dort und lassen Essen liefern. Die letzten Lieferungen waren leider total enttäuschend und gar nicht mehr zu empfehlen. Gestern waren z.B. die Meeresfrüchte fischig und nicht essbar. Das Pad Thai war wiederholt völlig über süßt und der Klebreis nicht durchgegart. Sehr schade.

The food was good as usual. However, the service was absolutely subpar? There were very few guests in the restaurant that day. Nevertheless, the service only came after repeated requests. Nobody bothered to check on us on their own. There were 6 of us and we actually consumed very well with wine, food, etc. - but no one was interested in that. It wasn't until it was 9 p.m. that the service became attentive because the ladies obviously wanted to get off work. Our plates were cleared away while others at the table were still eating. At 9:15 p.m. we were brought the bill without asking and when one of us wanted a beer at 9:30 p.m. we were told that the cash register was now closed. The lights were turned on and the music was played so loud that it was no longer possible to carry on a conversation. Remember, the restaurant closes at 10 p.m.!! To be honest, I have never experienced such a penetrating expulsion - not only annoying, but also outrageous. We will definitely not be friends anymore...

We ordered here on Saturday evening. The delivery time was short and the gentleman who delivered it was friendly. Everything was very tasty and fresh.

We've been there several times now. The service is very friendly, even to the dog. The service is quick and always very friendly. No matter whether you sit inside or outside, you sit beautifully. You should definitely try the starter for 2 people. You should definitely follow the wine recommendations for the main courses. It's worth it. The food is great!

Wirklich ausgezeichnet. Schön eingerichtet, guter Service, ausgezeichnete Speisen und eine gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Hier passt alles. Meine Suppe - bestens, und mein vom Lokal empfohlenes Hauptgericht stand der Suppe in der Qualität in nichts nach. Die Portionen - sehr ordentlich. Wir rätselten anfangs, ob zu den Hauptgerichten Reis serviert würde, weil das auf der Karte nirgends erwähnt wurde (jedenfalls fanden wir keinen Hinweis dazu) - aber Entwarnung - Es kam tatsächlich eine üppige Portion Reis dazu. Schöne Erfahrung.

Hier im Stuttgarter Westen gibt es erstaunlich viele Thailändische und andere asiatische Restaurants. Kwan Kao ist nicht das Teuerste, das Billigste oder das Beste, liegt aber zuverlässig im Mittelfeld mit guten Portionen und freundlicher Bedienung. Bei gutem Wetter kann man schön draußen sitzen.

The foods are great. But I will not recommend this place to tourist who doesn’t speak German. Not a very tourist friendly restaurant :)

Very delicious Thai food, perfect for a gathering of friends, but the milk tea is too sweet

This is our secret sauce when it comes to entertaining guests, and we often visit this Thai restaurant when we don’t have guests over. We have friends who often go to Thailand for vacation and have given very good reviews about the dishes. The environment is comfortable, but it is often full, so the service staff is slightly understaffed.

The food was delicious and absolutely authentic. The ambience was chic and appropriate. Service was average. The prices were normal. Reservation online is very easy and absolutely necessary.

It is a very nice place in Stuttgart West, which offers a big variety of delicious Thailand food and drinks. The service was excellent and it is also a kid friendly restaurant. A table reservation is recommended to be sure that you get seated. I liked the traditional Thai decoration of this place!

Eigentlich verdient das Restaurant 2-3 Punkte, weil das Essen ok ist aber der Service Katastrophe. Da das Restaurant aber sehr schnell Bewertungen löschen lässt, welche sie nicht mögen, ist das eine Unverschämtheit und ein Punkt wert.

We are always very satisfied. It really is the best Thai restaurant in Stuttgart. The drinks taste very tasty and fresh. So I recommend sitting outside if possible. As a vegetarian you are also in good hands. The papaya salad is always nice and fresh and the food is of great quality. The service is super friendly and always very attentive. It has become our favorite restaurant and we eat here at least once a week. My recommendations: Papaya salad, sticky rice, pad thai, shrimp starter and pepper leaves

Food was delicious, there's nothing you can say about it. But since we ordered and 20 minutes after the appointment there was still nothing, I had to call and found out that the driver still wasn't there to pick it up but the food was already ready. We have to wait another 30 minutes. Since it was 8 minutes away from us, I picked it up myself. No apologies on site, rather annoyed I got the food. It was clear that some of the food was already cold. It's a shame because the food was good. So it's better to eat locally.

Um 20Uhr reserviert. Den Tisch für zwei Personen den wir wollten wurde uns aus unersichtlichem Grund verweigert. Es waren oben noch zwei Tische frei die während des Aufenthalts nicht besetzt wurden. Nur der miese Tisch direkt an der Theke neben dem ganzen Troubel wurde uns zugewiesen. Und nach der Getränke Bestellung wurden wir direkt unter Druck gesetzt zu bestellen, da die Küche, die offiziell bis 21 Uhr offen hat, gleich schließt. Für dieses Preis Gefüge geht das in Stuttgart leider nicht

Parking available within walking distance. Payment possible by card or cash. Staff friendly and attentive. Reservation is recommended. Food and drinks are brought to the table relatively quickly. Very good price/performance ratio. High chairs for small children available. Delivery and collection available.

Everything is simply delicious!

There were five of us there, all very good eaters, and we were all well fed. The various dishes we had (curries and stir fries) were very tasty, authentic and we got extra rice as often as we wanted. Sometimes it was a little difficult to get a waitress' attention, but otherwise everything was great. Prices very fair.

My favourite Thai-Resto in Stuttgart so far. The dishes are authentic. I ordered 4 menus Pad Thai w/ shrimps, Gang Kiew Wan (it’s green curry, a bit spicy but super delicious), Pad Pak Boong (morning glory, can request w/ crispy pork belly if you want), and Mango sticky rice. Don’t worry they have menus for Vegetarian or Vegan too. Better do a reservation, since they have a lots of customers. The place is clean and cozy too. The services are super friendly. Keep it up 🥰

In terms of food, it's just really good, probably the best Thai restaurant I've eaten at so far. Not exactly cheap in price, but value for money is still good. All I can criticize is the somewhat stiff atmosphere and my beer wasn't cold enough, but that's always the case with Asian restaurants.

Food was delicious we sat in their garden which is lovely. It was buzzing with lots of people. We had chicken satay, curry, prawns wrapped in leaf with peanuts, my cousin had sticky crispy chicken then we finished with sticky coconut rice with mango. All really yummy. The only star I took off was for service. The younger girls were lovely and helpful there was one older waitress that was acting a bit strange when we asked for extra plate as we were sharing and this is normal. She have a strange look twice. Otherwise awesome thank you

Top food, delicious drinks and very attentive service

Super tasty and authentic Thai food 😍 We'd love to come back! A special highlight for me: on the menu there is a picture and a good description of each dish, so that despite all the foreign dishes you can imagine something about it and make a suitable choice. Also highly recommended is the beautiful terrace in the backyard in summer, very green and cozy!

Wir waren bisher regelmäßig Kunden des Restaurant Kwan Kao in Stuttgart West. Mit unseren beiden Gerichten, die wir gestern abgeholt hatten, waren wir überhaupt nicht zufrieden. Dies war leider nicht das erste Mal: Beide Essen (Panäng) waren versalzen, so dass wir das Essen nicht aufaßen, auch befand sich kaum Gemüse in der Soße. Die Speisen werden weiterhin in Einwegbehältnissen ausgegeben, das Mehrwegkonzept wird nicht angeboten, was wir sehr schade finden.

I think it's really bad that despite having a reservation you aren't informed that the restaurant is closed. We have planned a final dinner with a colleague who is leaving us. We dutifully reserved space online and this was confirmed to us. When you arrive and park, you of course pay a parking fee for one hour. Only to find out that the restaurant is simply closed and doesn't open until 5 p.m. So how is a reservation with confirmation possible? Point service should be optimized here. Very annoying loss of time, fuel and costs!!!!

Das bestellte Essen (Wolt) wurde nicht geliefert. Ursprünglich wurde es auf 18:36 Unr angekündigt kam aber nie. Nie wieder Wolt, nie wieder Kwan Kao (obwohl wir bisher Stammgäste waren)

Unfortunately, I didn't find the service good. Long wait after ordering the drinks, although the crowd was manageable. In 3 hours there was only 3 times someone at the table to ask if anything else wanted to be ordered. Work on it, then you are definitely a good address.

The Pad Thai was a bit too sweet for me, could there be more nuts and spring onions? be. Tofu is the standard. But food came super quickly and service was nice. Lots of places available. Card payment possible. Butterfly tea quite sweet.

We loved being able to pick out whether we wanted to eat in or dine on the balcony. It was such a perfect day so we dined outside and as it got dark, they brought candles and lights out for us to be able to enjoy while still being able to see our food. The food was delicious. Didn’t capture the red curry that I purchased but the drinks and appetizers were worth the wait. The service was nice and they accept Card so that’s always a plus in downtown Stuttgart.
