Kwan Kao - Taste of Thailand in Stuttgart

We were there with a large group and reservations worked out. The food was tasty, deliciously seasoned. Our questions were also answered well.

I think this is the best restaurant in Stuttgart for Thai food. The service and the waiter was so welcoming and patient with our hundreds questions about food and assured us its the best Thai food in the city and its fresh which was totally true. Its just 10min from charlottenplatz and very quiet place. The gravy was good plus the chicken and pad Thai what can i say ? only that we will definitely go again.

We were in Thailand at the beginning of the year and wanted to rediscover good Thai dishes... Well we thought we were in Thailand again: everything was delicious like there: deliciously good, spicy (you could ask for less spicy) , hearty, really perfect. We also found iced black teas. I forgot to take photos: we were so excited. The service was perfect, very friendly, we were able to discuss Thailand with the waitress.

Really excellent Thai food and friendly service. All dishes were delicious, especially the fried fish in chili sweet and sour sauce and the water spinach with crispy pork belly - definitely try it!

Large portions and prices (the main course is enough, unless you haven't eaten anything for a week), occasionally irritating - but always very attentive - service (almost like in Thailand 😊). For us, the taste doesn't come close to Thai street food. Tables outside on the quiet street are nice in the hot summer. Inside in the basement - no idea. We keep looking.

Great service and really delicious food

The food and the ambience were great. Everything screamed Thailand and you felt really comfortable. The food in particular was carefully prepared and all 4 dishes we ordered deserved 10/10 points. The staff was nice and accommodating. Now the question arises, why do I only give one out of five possible stars as a rating? This is because we actually ordered 5 dishes, but we only got 4. Unfortunately, the mango sticky rice never arrived. It wasn't a surprise at the end or anything, no, not at all. The nice waitress came back from the kitchen immediately after the order was placed and informed us that this dessert was unfortunately no longer available for that day. Sadly, I gave up and paid. On the way to the toilet, however, I noticed another guest also placing an order for mango sticky rice and the waiter took the order. This caught my attention and I waited a moment to see if this waiter would also come back from the kitchen with bad news. But puff cake... The waiter brought some things to the table and the lady didn't hear any further disappointments. Unlike me. All in all it may be a few impostors in the kitchen but I have to admit that the food was very very good and I would recommend everyone to go there.

The Pad Thai was really tasty. The green curry was a bit too spicy for us. But we will definitely come back, because you won't find such authentic Thai food anywhere else in Germany. It's a bit stuffy inside in summer, but it's very pleasant outside. The bathrooms are old and heavily perfumed.

Recently ate here, something went wrong with our order, which can happen on a busy evening. Very neatly resolved; a thousand apologies and the drinks were at their expense. Now that's some customer service. But what made it all better: we had two curries and both were super delicious. If we are ever in Stuttgart again, we will definitely eat here again.

As a Thai person, the food is very authentic and the service is outstanding. There's a many choices on the menu, including a variety of noodle soups.

Fantastic meal, but only managed starter and main course. The tables are relatively small and it's a bit tight. But we'll definitely be back. No. 15 great starter.

Excellent service and food. The outdoor seating is next to the street, but the street is quiet so that's not a problem. The portions were large, so we asked to pack the rest to take away, and the box even included a fresh portion of rice for everyone.

Very nice staff and delicious food. I found the green curry with a spiciness level of 2 chilies to be medium.

The food was very tasty and of high quality and sumptuous for the price. But the basement where the restaurant is located is not quite as nice as the other location in Stuttgart.

Ich kann meine Vorredner nicht verstehen selbstverständlich sind größere Tische für Gruppen, wenn man zu zweit ist reichen die Zweiertische voll aus. Dafür dann eine schlechte Bewertung finde ich vollkommen deplatziert. Das essen ist ein wahrer Genuss Orginal Thai / super Weinkarte. Hier wird sich richtig Mühe gegeben, das zu st weit weg vom fertig / Standort selbst in Thailand ist das gehoben. Die Mehrarbeit, die hier in den selbstgemachte Currys steckt muss auch entsprechend entlohnt werden. Klar dass Becher auf sauße rein billiger ist. Wer das sucht sollte in ein anderes Restaurant gehen. Gerne wird der hiesige Chef (Kitty) die Zubereitung der Sauße auch erklären, da bin ich mir sicher. Er steckt viel Zeit und Überlegung in die zum Teil leicht adaptierten Traditionsrezepte. Er gibt den Currys im seinen eigenen touch. Sehr thailändisch.

Unfortunately, none of us could eat. We were all doing more or less badly. Too bad! Cocktails were beautifully prepared and tasted good. Service was ok. Unfortunately the toilet wasn't clean. Restaurant was very cramped and the air was bad.

Pretty restaurant and good food - nothing special. However, we were disappointed here: despite expressly requesting gluten-free food, I was served a dish with gluten. Luckily I noticed it. I did get another dish, but my friend was then charged in full for the remaining dish after she agreed to take it away. That's really not very customer-friendly, especially since I came close to eating the gluten-containing food (I have celiac disease). When I pointed out that they would otherwise have had to throw the food away, there was no response at all. This is really unpleasant.

This was the best discovery in a long time. Very cozy atmosphere, everything lovingly done. Super friendly service. Very tasty food, but some of it was quite spicy. I now say: authentic. We are already looking forward to the next time.

Were there today, the starter was absolutely amazing, the main courses were excellent, we'll be back. We were back, if this is Thailand food, we urgently need to go to Thailand.

From the outside it's a rather inconspicuous Thai restaurant, but the inside is also easy to manage, but fantastic food in the usual fine Thai preparation style. The taste is beautifully balanced by the specific spices. Service for "long noses" - the ranking of the level of spiciness from 0 to 3 chili peppers can already be seen on the menu. Pleasant service. Reservations (online) are strongly recommended, even for a Dinner For Two! Fairly priced and appropriate for the quality offered. Always happy again.

Absolutely amazing. Some of the best Thai food I have ever eaten.

After an internship in Bangkok more than 10 years ago, I tried out a variety of restaurants that could produce an authentic Pad Kra Pao in terms of taste and spiciness. Both the taste and spiciness are right here (it will be a little milder than for Bangkok locals, but when I wanted it a little milder there, it was something like Kwan Kao). The service and the option to choose vegan and vegetarian options also make Kwan Kao a place that I would not only visit alone, with my girlfriend but also with my family and colleagues.

Small fine shop. Eichbaum in Stuttgart is wonderful. Top service, quality taste, 5 stars are not enough. Not only will I come back, the store must and will be recommended.

I ate there with my family and I really have to say if you're looking for good Thai food, you've come to the right place. The service staff are also very courteous and friendly. Overall, I can't complain. That's why I give it 5 stars 👍

A somewhat impersonal, rather hectic atmosphere. There was also no indication, either on the menu or in person, about the spiciness of the food. It was too spicy for my liking, so I couldn't eat a lot of it. That was of course very unfortunate. After exactly 2 hours the reservation ends and then you have to get out quickly... not really pleasant.

Super friendly service. The dishes are authentic, extremely tasty and attractively presented. Small but very good wine selection. We will be back...

Service there is a joke. You always feel "politely" stressed and disturbed by the waitresses while eating.

Loved the food, the description in the menu is commendable , 🌶️ meter is clear for germans😃, the fresh ginger tea was abit watery. It's quite narrow between tables and it would be great to have a bit brighter light.

There were four of us for dinner! The other 3's food was delicious! I had a dish with glass noodles and shrimps. Quite tasty, but very, very noodle-heavy with only 5 shrimps and a few onions. There was no real response to my criticism of this.

Super tasty food, really big portions for a low price. We got a starter for free which was very tasty. Gladly again.

We also had severe stomach pain and vomiting after eating. We even had to call the emergency doctor.

Almost every dish contains flavor enhancers! The taste was too intense/sweet for us. My husband and I had severe stomach problems after the visit, then we knew it and found confirmation in the menu. A good Thai is not. In addition, the service is extremely hectic.

The food was as I was introduced to it by our au pair. 10 out of 10.

The food was very good, but unfortunately you have to know exactly what you are ordering. Otherwise, you may end up with something that doesn't really meet your expectations. The restaurant itself is small, cozy but also a bit cramped when it gets fuller. The staff is extremely polite, very accommodating and gives no reason to complain. Conclusion: I would like to go there again.

Authentisches Thai Essen, modernes Ambiente, nettes Personal- uns hat es gefallen!

We spent a cozy lovely evening here with nice yummy food and sweet Thai style milk tea. I highly recommend the Thai style fried noodles with shrimps ( pad thai) because I always love this dish and I order it in all the Thai restaurants I went to, this one here is really tasty! Red curry with sliced beef is also yummy. The mango they use is fresh and juicy. But better book a table in advance because the space is kinda small and many people go there for dinner. Easy to find the location is in city’s center close to the Main Street.

Sehr freundliches und fürsorgliches Personal. Das Essen ist sehr lecker. Was beachtet werden sollte, 3 Peperonis bedeutet SEHR scharf.. Wer nicht sehr scharf verträgt, sollte unbedingt darauf achten. Für mich, obwohl ich scharf vertrage, war es zu viel.. Ansonsten haben wir unseren Thailänder gefunden, wenn wir in Stuttgart sind. Auch unseren Kindern hat es sehr geschmeckt. Top 👍👍

This place has really good food. We ordered 7 dishes and everything was great. Soups were yummy, papaya salad was refreshing, and pad Thai was great as well. However, service could have been better. Our server kept forgetting our drinks…we were party of five so one of our party was sitting on a chair by the street made us little bit nervous. Overall I would give 4.5 check this place out but do call and make a reservation. Mango Eis and Roti were delicious.

Sehr leckere Thai Küche. Vor allem für Schärfeliebhaber, denn die scharfen Gerichte sind auch wirklich feurig. Einziger Kritikpunkt, Weinauswahl könnte internationaler sein, da nur deutsche Weine im Angebot.

Wir waren auf einem Kurztrip in Stuttgart und waren gestern Abend dort essen. Der Service wahr sehr freundlich. Das Ambiente war angenehm und das Essen war sehr lecker. Sowohl die Frühlingsrollen als auch das Hauptgericht aus dem Wok konnten zu 100% überzeugen. Gewürzt war es ebenfalls sehr gut.

Hallo liebes Kon quan- Team, in einer kleinen Gruppe kamen wir gestern in Ihr Lokal. Ein wunderschönes Ambiente mit traditioneller, authentischer Einrichtung. Die Stimmung im Restaurant und im Außenbereich war sehr angenehm. Leider gibt es von mir keine allzu positive Bewertung. Wir bestellten um 20:20 Uhr und bekamen unser Essen erst um 21:30 Uhr. Wir hatten fünf mal Phad Thai (ein Nudelgericht) mit Hähnchen. Die Kellnerin war leider sehr unfreundlich und ging nicht auf unsere Wünsche ein. Wir fühlten uns nicht angemessen behandelt und verließen das Lokal mit leeren Magen und schlechter Laune.

Der volle Samstagabend ist Bestätigung genug. War lecker!

Ich habe bisher nur zwei mal bestellt, ich muss sagen es ist sehr frisch und daher wohl nicht ganz so authentisch wie ich es gewünscht hatte :) Der Geschmack wirkt wie ein Hauch von Thailand, vielleicht hatte ich die falschen Gerichte. Oder es ist nur sehr eingedeutscht fad, aber ich denke mal es liegt daran auf viel "schädliches" zu verzichten. Daher der Preis.. Letztendlich haben die übertrieben positiven Bewertungen mich dazu verführt zu glauben ich würde da an ein Geschmackserlebnis geraten, meine Erwartungen waren sehr hoch, dafür war das Essen "nur" ganz gut. Ich werde es evtl mal vor Ort versuchen, danke!

Leckere authentische Küche aus Thailand mit einer guten Schärfe. Hier kann man toll draußen sitzen und gemütlich die Thailändische Küche ausprobieren. Die Gerichte sind nicht zu groß, so dass man auf jeden Fall eine der Vorspeisen versuchen sollte. Die Bedienung war sehr nett.

Haben nur die Vorspeiseplatte und verschiedene Teesorten probiert. Hat sehr gut geschmeckt. Auch nachmittags draußen war sehr schön und ruhig, trotz Nähe zur City. Plane schon den nächsten Besuch.

Looking for Thai cuisine, this restaurant could be your go to restaurant. Food is amazing, authentic taste, good spices. I would recommend the famous Pad thai with Tofu. It’s so tasty and serves with chili flakes and peanuts. Curry’s are much oily. Home made drinks are also delicious.

Das Restaurant ist klein aber fein. Ich bin öfter mal da gewesen und es war immer ausgezeichnet. Sehr schmackhaftes Essen und ein super tolles Ambiente große Klasse. Man wird hier toll bedient und da alle die dort arbeiten Thais sind, macht es das ganze noch ein bisschen Einheimischer! Mir gefällt es dort sehr das muss ich loben fühlt sich an wie ein Urlaub in Thailand!

Restaurante muy muy recomendable si se quiere comer comida tailandesa. Todo es perfecto desde la amabilidad del servicio cómo la calidad de la comida. Saborrs frescos y también picantes si es lo que se busca.Todo a un precio más que aceptable.

Wir haben sehr gut gegessen. Mein Hauptgang mit zwei Chilischoten, war nicht besonders scharf.

War hier zum Mittagessen mit einem Kollegen. Das Restaurant hat einige Tische außen und genügend Tische, so dass man Mittags nicht zu lange warten sollte. Die beiden Servicekräfte waren stets aufmerksam und haben uns sehr zuvorkommend und freundlich bedient. Es gab einen kleinen leckeren Salat vorab unf ein Pad Thai ( mit Tofu, ohne Ei) für mich. Die Karte ist ausreichend und man kann sämtliche Gerichte variieren (Hühnchen, Ente, Tofu, etc). Für zwei Portionen haben wir 23 € bezahlt. Es war sehr lecker und eine ordentliche Portion von der ich sehr satt geworden bin. Insgesamt zu empfehlen

Unfassbar lecker, für mich einer der Top5 Thais in Europa, in denen ich gegessen habe. Achtung bei der Schärfe, bestellt lieber etwas weniger scharf, wenn ihr euch nicht sicher seid ;)

Eins unserer absoluten Lieblingsrestaurants. Der Service ist sehr freundlich auch bei vollem Betrieb. Die Preise sind der Qualität entsprechend. Ich habe Schweinebauch mit scharfe Thaibasilikum sehr sehr lecker und scharf wie ich mir vorgestellt habe. Als getrank Hausgemachte Limonade klingt wie Suppe ist aber nicht für Sommer sehr passend. Absoluter Tipp!
