A really quaint and beautiful wine bar in a historic half-timbered house. The interior design is also reminiscent of the Middle Ages. You will be served very warmly and friendly and will also be given advice on choosing your wine. If you spend your time in Bacharach, you should definitely stop by here and spend a cozy evening.

What a quaint restaurant with a historical background, world-famous guests (at least there have been some here) and warm hosts. Here you immediately feel accepted and always find connection. There are great wines and delicious smaller treats. Salty biscuits are also served free of charge. It feels like you're sitting in a pub, only in the Mint it's so much higher quality, cleaner and more atmospheric. For me, every visit to Bacharach is worth at least one or two nightcaps. A very rustic restaurant in Bacharach, where you are warmly welcomed and warmly looked after. If a drink isn't on the menu, just ask and they'll try to fulfill your every wish.

A fantastic place to recharge your batteries. A certainly tasty meal served to us by Andreas, a very nice and friendly man who also speaks perfect Spanish. Since the temperature was great, we ate on their cozy terrace.

For my 30th birthday I had the brilliant idea of ​​taking a hiking tour from Mainz to Bacharach and stopping at the mint. "Guys, we're going to the coin, but on foot," I told my friends. I already knew the “House of Cultivated Hospitality” from previous hiking tours in and around Bacharach and I simply loved the place. I was simply impressed by the historical ambience in the half-timbered house, the delicious food and especially the family atmosphere. However, I can only refuse the hiking tour. Between Mainz and Bingen it is very beautiful with all the riparian forests and so on. But from Bingen there is only this asphalt path between the railway tracks and the Rhine. You can save that. The apple-cinnamon tarte flambée and the beer made up for it. Let's see, maybe next time we'll take the canoe to the coin :D

Nice atmosphere, you also get a blanket if it's too cold or a heater. We had a cold plate with a lot of selection, good wine and good beer. We'll be happy to come back

Super great restaurant! The owner is super nice and funny! We asked the owner to recommend all of our wine and food and it was delicious and affordable ~ less than 10 euros per person was something we didn't expect. Also took a lot of photos, in short if you come to this town then this restaurant is definitely recommended!

Really cozy, old tavern. Great wines on the menu, Flammkuchen also was very tasty. Just expect it to be crowded and food to take a bit of time.

„Eigentlich“ wollen wir in der Münze an einem Mittwoch im August gegen 13.00 Uhr lediglich etwas draußen sitzen, Flammkuchen essen und Wein trinken, um dann zeitig wieder nach Hause zu reisen. Dieser Plan ging nicht auf: um 21.30 Uhr verließen wir diesen Ort gepflegter Gastlichkeit. Die Gründe dafür, dass man die Münze nur widerwillig verlässt, lassen sich nur an mehreren Händen abzählen. Dazu zählen eine mit Sachkunde getroffene Auswahl an lokalen und regionalen Weinen und Spirituosen zu mehr als fairen Preisen, der großzügig portionierte und auf die Sekunde exakt gebackene Flammkuchen, der Ausblick von der Terrasse auf den gegenüber liegenden Weinberg („Bacharacher Posten“?), die „entschleunigte“ Atmosphäre, in der man rasch mit Einheimischen und (meist als Paar hier einkehrenden) Touristen in nette Gespräche kommt, das urige Innere des historischen Gebäudes, vor allem aber der gute Geist in Küche und Service, amüsante Unterhalter, umsichtige Gastgeber und unermüdliche Auskunftgeber auf alle ihm gestellten touristisch relevanten Fragen und Bitten: Andreas, dem der Grad eines „Masters of Multitasking“ gebührt. Da bei unserer Ankunft kein Platz auf der Terrasse mehr frei war, dauerte es etwas, bis sich unsere Augen nach dem Eintreten an das Dunkel im niedrigen Innenraum mit seinen massiven herab hängenden Deckenbalken gewöhnt hatten, als uns eine Männerstimme in Englisch riet, auf unsere Köpfe aufzupassen. Auf unsere Antwort, dass man mit uns ruhig in Deutsch sprechen könne, trat ein junger Herr aus der Dunkelheit hervor, den wir spätestens drei Minuten ins Herz geschlossen hatten, weil er die Frage, ob der „Loreley Rivaner“ auch wirklich trocken sei, umgehend äußerst pragmatisch ohne große Worte beantwortete. Flugs standen zwei Gläser mit generös eingeschenkten Proben auf dem Tisch, nach deren Verkostung wir keinen Anlass mehr hatten, an der Richtigkeit der Bestellung einer Flasche dieses in der Tat trockenen leichten Sommerweines zu zweifeln. Fünf Minuten später hatten wir das Glück, dass ein Tisch auf der Terrasse frei wurde. Wieselflink hatte Andreas diesen für uns gereinigt und eingedeckt, sodass wir nun in erster Reihe den Ausblick auf das beschauliche Straßenleben und den gegenüber liegenden Weinberg genießen konnten. Wenig später tischte Andreas zwei große Flammkuchen von perfekter Konsistenz auf, die er unter Berücksichtigung geschlechtsspezifisch unterschiedlicher Essgewohnheiten in kleinere und größere Stücke schon vorgeschnitten hatte. Von so viel Liebe zum Detail angetan, kam unser Vorsatz, nach dem mittäglichen Imbiss die Münze zu verlassen, bereits ins Wanken. Da in der Münze nur Bares gilt, machte ich einen kurzen Abstecher zur VB-Filiale. Die 5,80 Euro Gebühr für eine Barabhebung wären sinnvoller in zwei weitere Gläser Wein oder Digestif oder alternativ „Krustenbrot, Käsewürfel, Weintrauben“ zu 4,90 €) investiert gewesen.Weil mittlerweile die Sonne prall auf die zuvor schattige Terrasse strahlte, entschieden wir, dass weitere Flüssigkeitszufuhr keine schlechte Idee sein könne, ohne dabei die feste Nahrungsaufnahme zu vernachlässigen. Das mündete in die Bestellung einer zweiten Flasche „Loreley“ und einer Käseplatte. Für meine Begleiterin kamen sukzessive vier lokale Riesling auf den Tisch. Da Andreas stets eine Mappe lokaler Unterkünfte griffbereit hat, konnten wir unbesorgt dazu übergehen, den Durst im weiteren Verlauf des Nachmittags statt mit Wein mit Sekt bzw. Koblenzer Weizenbier (0,5 l für 3,90 €!) zu stillen, was sich als gute Wahl erwies. Am späten Nachmittag zog es Andreas nach Hause zu seinem Nachwuchs, und an seiner Stelle übernahmen die aktuelle Besitzerin Heike und ihre Tochter Veronika das Zepter. Zweifellos sind alle drei ausgesprochen herzliche und freundliche Gastgeber an einem Ort, der in idyllischer Weise lokale Verwurzelung mit kosmopolitischem Kolorit vereint und an dem man sich nach kürzester Zeit fühlt, als sei man in seinem seit Jahren vertrauten Stammlokal. Sinnspruch: "wer am Mittag in die Münze geht, kommt nach Haus am Abends spät!"

Freitag der 22.09.23 Wollten die Kurpfälzische Münze besuchen .Gegen 17.00 Uhr aber leider geschlossen öffnet erst um 18.00 Uhr. Also ist man um 18.00 Uhr dagewesen um ein Glas Wein oder 2 zu trinken und nee Kleinigkeit zu essen. Leider war wohl niemand da oder doch. Auf jeden Fall standen wir draußen und dann kam ein Gewitter und als wir total durchnässt waren sind wir mit dem Fahrrad weiter gefahren. Wir hoffen nur die anderen Gäste die vor der Tür standen hatten mehr Glück. Schade das sich Gastwirte dann beschweren das ihr Umsatz sinkt und Gäste fern bleiben. Trotzdem wünscht man der Weinstube alles Gute und evtl Gäste falls sie pünktlich öffnet. Liebe Grüße Familie Grunze

Kleine Speisekarte, dennoch ansprechend regional. Andreas ist ein zuvor kommender und cooler Typ. Er hat uns eine Käse und Schinken Platte hergerichtet, vom feinsten, obwohl er zur Zeit alles im Restaurant alleine machen musste. Freundlich und nett. Können wir gern weiter empfehlen.

What a great German pub. If you come to Bacharach, you must visit this pub. We stayed next door and this was our place to drink a beer and meet local people. Andreas made us feel like family. This was the best time of our visit to Bacharach!!! Can't wait until we can visit again. Thank you, Andreas, for a great time!

Bardzo polecamy, przemiła obsługa i świetnie jedzenie. Za 4 dania + 5 piw, zapłaciliśmy 54e. Jedyny minus to płatność tylko gotówką, ale bankomat jest blisko, więc warto :)

Urgemütliche Weinstube - kleine Weinproben sind wie auch Koblenzer Bier vorhanden, und kleine Gerichte für den Hunger zwischendurch gibt es auch. Hier kann man sich wohlfühlen. Klasse war auch die Bedienung durch Andreas und auch der sympathischen Wirtin - wir kommen gerne wieder.

Urgemütliche, und wohl auch die erste deutsche, Münzprägestelle, die zu einer Weinbar umgebaut wurde. Der Service ist toll, der Besitzer zeigt auch gerne die ersten Münzen die dort geprägt wurden, und der Wein sehr lecker. Kleine Snacks gibt es hier auch, so dass man hier einen gemütlichen Nachmittag/Abend verbringen kann. Ich komme wieder. 😉

Service juste adorable, le gérant est super gentil. Petite musique, en touristes français qui ne parlent pas un mot allemand on s’est régalé ! Sa cuisine est super bonne et les tartes flambées sont bien meilleures qu’en Alsace! On reviendra ici, ça c’est sûr !

Très bon repas, à un prix très abordable. Nous avons pris la flammenkuche, qui est servie en grosses portions. Le cadre est sympathique, et le personnel est adorable. Pour un budget serré et une nourriture typique, je recommande. Nous avons également testé trois verres de vin locaux pour 11,70€, ce qui est un prix plus que raisonnable, d'autant que les vins étaient délicieux.

Très bon restaurant, avec une serveuse très attentionnée. La dégustation de vin nous a beaucoup plu et nous a permis de découvrir la production du village et de la région. Tres bonne carte de vin. La cuisine est simple mais bonne et avec un très bon rapport qualité-prix. Je recommande vivement pour une halte un midi ou un soir. L'ambiance à l'intérieur est sympathique.

Our best meal in town! Sadly, we had chosen other places to eat on our first two evenings, but when we tried this we regretted not having all our dinners here! The wine was amazing, the service was excellent, the waiter made it all fun, and the food: the best Flammkuchen (Tarte Flambée) I've ever had! A homely, comfortable place, not fancy, but a must for a great meal!

Tolles Ambiente, unbedingt rein gehen und testen. Getränke sind gut und günstig. Das Essen sah sehr lecker aus, wir hatten aber selber nichts. Der Humor des Wirtes überrascht erst, klingt seltsam, er ist aber sehr nett.

Ein schönes Weinstübchen zum einkehren. Guter Wein und gutes Bier in einem schönen Ambiente. Beim Essen sollte man keine highend Küche erwarten aber leckere Wurst und Käseplatten passend zum Wein. Auch die Pizza ist ok kein Vergleich zum Italiener aber ich nicht schlecht. Die Ziegenwurst war der Knaller. Alles in allem ein tolles Lokal.

Das Essen ist sehr lecker, die Portionen sind üppig, der Wein ist regional und ebenfalls sehr köstlich. Der Wirt ist sehr nett. Insgesamt sehr zu empfehlen.

Inmejorable. Comida muy rica, servicio estupendo, el mejor camarero que hemos encontrado en Alemania. Nos ha encantado.

Prachtige plek, uitstekende en goedkope lunch en uitermate vriendelijke, ongedwongen bediening. Heerlijke flammekuche, kaasplank en brood met spek en kaas. Voor minder dan dertig euro een tafel vol eten en twee grote bieren. En de ober/kok was zeer vriendelijk. Heerlijke plek, oud gebouw met laag plafond, aparte nisjes. Gewoon een geweldige plek voor een lunch in dit mooie stadje aan de Rijn.

We were staying in Bacharach and came upon this local bar. It was a very busy place, but the staff were really kind and accommodating. We had the flammkuchen (classic!) and spundekase with pretzels, along with some really good local white wine. The ambiance was off the charts, and we can’t say enough about the staff. It was the perfect evening! Look this place up when you’re in the area.

Great little pace, lovely cheese platter and meat platter really good too. Lovely wines. Not expensive, good value. We really enjoyed it.

Visited on a wet Sunday afternoon. Service lovely such a lovely young man pouring wine and beer making beautiful cheese and ham platers. His lovely personality made it even better! Really lovely place, we went for wine tasting and a snack. Not only was everything delicious and very reasonably priced, but the waiter bent over backwards to keep my daughter smiling.

We first reserved thinking this was a restaurant but then found they have a limited menu more suitbable to a wine bar (pizza, flammkucken, cheeses/cold meats). It was lovely but we just saw the wait staff constantly sending people elsewhere as they were looking for typical restaurant. The menu is huge, but it s the wine menu that is huge. So many choices. The lady was very helpful in picking something, it was one of the best we had on the trip. Inside is very cozy but on a warm day it is too hot. Altogether cute place but it is not a restaurant.

While visiting Bacharach we came upon this local restaurant. The owner was also the chef and we watched him make some amazing food. We stopped by 2 different times for a beer and to chat with other tourists. Definitely a must to see this restaurant!

Some of us from our Rick Steve's group came here one evening after wine tasting across the street. (which was only so-so) We ordered a number of appetizer plates to share and some drinks. The food was delicious and very generously portioned, but the most memorable part was the service that we received from the owner and his wife. As someone mentioned already, their family has owned the building for hundreds of years and he was nice enough to spend some time with us telling us the history of the town and the building. The atmosphere inside is warm and cozy and very old world German Pub. I would highly recommend stopping into this place for a drink or food while you are in Bacharach! I would love to return some day. Thank you to Carston and his wife!

Nipped in here after reading mixed reviews. We had an excellent meal, which was the Munze Platter it had a selection of cold meats, sausages and cheeses and salad it was very tasty. Along with it we had a wine tasting of local wines again everything was 1st class, including the extremely helpful staff.

We visited with friends for post dinner drinks and enjoyed the exceptional atmosphere. Reasonably priced drinks and food, kind staff, cozy and inviting ambiance. Staff was flexible and provided a great pace of service. Would visit again!

Based on previous reviews this sounded pretty good and I was ready for something other than schnitzel. We had a spinach pizza and the wine cheese plate plus 2 glasses of wine. Nothing to encourage us to return. Service started out attentive but our server disappeared. Got everything at the same time and wasn’t anything special. Setting is nice but nothing to draw us back. Was not busy but person preparing food seemed overwhelmed.

Stopped by for an after-dinner drink. Fantastic live music by the talented Tarq Bowen. Hugely welcoming, friendly and lively. Cheerful mix of locals and tourists. A surprise find in seemingly sleepy Bacharach—will definitely be back. Can’t comment on the food as we didn’t dine, but the flammkuchen looked good!

Our entire family loved this place. It is the old mint. Cardston (who runs it with his wife...her family has owned the building for about 400 years if I understood him correctly) was very generous with his time. He brought out some of the old local coins minted on site, and even some Roman coins left behind by their soldiers. He gave us an incredibly interesting history of the area that we hadn't found in guidebooks. His English is excellent. Both Cardston and his wife took excellent care of us. Food pleased our fussy 9 year old and our teens were delighted with their massive alcohol free radlers. There is a small patio, but it was filled with smokers. We dined inside (smoking not allowed, but dogs are).
