Kupferpfand`l in Amberg

Very delicious food. I always resolve to try something new, but I always order rump steak fromage – and I've never been disappointed! The steak is always cooked to perfection. The four dips that accompany the steak are all delicious, with the garlic dip being the star. Service is super fast. Today, including starter and dessert, I went home full and satisfied—no, more like happy—after just over an hour! If you're not familiar with "Kupper," you should definitely try it!

It's always delicious and if you have a complaint or request, it's dealt with really well!

After more than 15 years, I had the opportunity to eat at Kupferpfandl again. The ambiance is still fantastic. When it comes to food, preferences differ. I found there was too much (delicious!) sauce on my plate, and I would have liked to have been asked how I preferred my beef tenderloin. Nevertheless, I can definitely recommend a visit.

My brother and I arrived a half hour after they opened and we had no problem finding a table. We are native English speakers and our server understood us perfectly. I ordered the smoked spare ribs and my brother ordered a steak. Both of our meals were fantastic. My brother's steak was cooked to perfection. My spare ribs were one of my favorite meals I had in Germany.

The atmosphere is very pleasant, cozy, and ideal for a date. The food was good, although I would have preferred a bit more quality for a restaurant that specializes in steaks. The meat tasted good, but I found it a little tough. Otherwise, everything was fine, and I would go back, but maybe try something different.

We visited this quaint inn for the first time today. The ambiance and service are very good. Unfortunately, I wasn't so lucky with the food. I had a starter, a garlic baguette. It was delicious. For my main course, I had a grill plate. It consisted of four small slices of meat and a baked potato. Unfortunately, two pieces of meat were very dry, making them difficult to eat. One was pork and the other was beef. What I have to say is that the taste was very good. However, it was a very small portion of meat with side dishes for more than 20 euros, which is very unbalanced.

There's something for everyone. Quality comes at a price, but it's totally worth it!

Steaks were undercooked on both visits—clearly a pattern, not a fluke. Service was inattentive, and the prices don’t reflect the quality, especially with better options in Amberg. The wine list was the one highlight, and the outdoor atmosphere was decent, but not nearly enough to make up for the rest. Gave it two chances—won’t be back.

Very good food with excellent steaks and everything else is simply first class.

Everything is just right here: A steak straight out of a picture book – tender, juicy, grilled to perfection. And all served in a restaurant that's as quaint as the name suggests. Lots of wood, copper decor, warm lighting. It's not a restaurant you'll only visit once. You eat, you laugh, you linger a little too long, and that's just right. Our conclusion: Good food, a great vibe, a fantastic atmosphere. If you like cozy and delicious food, this is the place—er, the right place for copper!

We were back after a long time. Unfortunately, the air was stale, which was a bit unpleasant. Otherwise, it's cozy. The staff is super friendly. This time I went for the premium meal, which I was a bit disappointed with. But it was replaced without any problems. But we'll be back 😉

I was recommended the ribeye and also had the scampi on the starters menu. I will be coming back when I'm in Amberg. Best steak I've had in Germany

Dear team at Kupferpfand'l, you are truly fantastic! Thank you for a truly wonderful culinary evening in a wonderful atmosphere and with excellent service! I absolutely fell in love with the spring menu with asparagus, meat, and wild garlic! The beef fillet was spot on! One point deducted for the unfortunately underwhelming prawn pan as a starter and the fact that they don't offer any non-alcoholic spritzers 😉 The value for money is excellent 👌 If we're ever in the area again, we'd love to come back! Two stars deducted. Yesterday I had a reservation for two at 6:15 p.m. My friend was seated on time and waiting for me. I had to take care of a sick pet and then search for a parking space. By the time I got there, my friend was standing at the door. She was repeatedly harassed and then had to leave the table... which meant my reserved table was no longer valid. I find that unacceptable. It has nothing to do with customer service; it just looks like greed to increase sales when you escort the person already waiting out. =============================== Recently, new photos at Kupferpfandl. It was very delicious. It feels like we've been going there with our family for dinner since the Kupferpfandl opened many, many years ago. Delicious, delicious, delicious 🤤 The courtyard is also very idyllic for outdoor dining in the summer. The menu is very varied, and the food, as I said, is very delicious 😋

Super delicious!! The men's menu was absolutely amazing. Great burgers, juicy spareribs with crispy fries and a variety of homemade sauces. And to top it all off, a warm chocolate cake with a liquid center and cotton candy on top. Divine! 🙏🏼 To die for. The team was super friendly and accommodating. 🥰Simply a wonderful evening throughout. We'll definitely be back.

Great restaurant in the middle of Amberg's old town. The culinary specialties not only read well on the menu but were beautifully presented on the plate. The taste was absolutely convincing and the restaurant is a must for every lover of good food.

I didn't find anywhere near the value in the 50€+ dry aged ribeye than expected. Definitely may have been an "off day" for the restaurant as I have had much better steak there before. The prices are pretty high and account for my rating of the food NOT being 4 stars.

Simply magnificent. We spontaneously got a place. A reservation is therefore recommended in any case. Just like this restaurant. Top!

Were there for our 18th wedding anniversary and got a bistro table. Something like that doesn't work at all and it's really tight to sit on. If I want to eat at a bistro table, I go to the abistro and not to a steak house... For the meal we had to clear everything away from the table so that we had a plate for two people and enough space for our two plates. Food was ok on average, there was no barbecue sauce or anything like that with the spare ribs... Beef steak was tough and absolutely nothing special, we can do better. The best were the fries and vegetables. And for an opulent price. I don't need it a second time...

Unfortunately the dining room was filled with smoke from the open grill to the point where it was no longer possible!

The steaks, sauces, side dishes and salad were extremely tasty, especially the salad dressing was sensational and the meat was cooked to perfection. The desserts with the cotton candy as decoration were also very good and looked great (= The service was perfect! Very nice service, who was extremely attentive (a dropped napkin was replaced before we even realized that the napkin had accidentally landed on the floor). Even when we changed our mind at short notice to have beer instead of the wine we had already ordered, this wasn't a problem at all. Although, as we had only noticed, the wine was already poured at the counter and we would of course have stuck with wine in that case, they insisted on fulfilling our spontaneous request for beer instead of wine and bringing us a beer. We can highly recommend the restaurant to everyone!

For us, THE restaurant in Amberg has been for decades, both under the previous owner and in recent years under new management, but now even better. Impeccable quality, great service and a cozy atmosphere. I can't remember ever having a negative experience here. Whether fillet steak, burger or spare ribs: excellent meat quality, prepared to perfection, extremely tasty and visually very appealing. And this is also confirmed by the service: although the restaurant was fully reserved, so we had reserved at another restaurant in Amberg, but were transferred there with guests from Munich on a Saturday evening (!), they found 4 seats for us at the Kupfer at short notice. Another reason for us to actually just stop here. That's how hospitality works!

The Kupferpfandl is the number 1 steak restaurant in Amberg. They have been loyal guests there on a regular basis for many years. This speaks primarily for the consistently high quality of the food. The Kupferpfandl is best known for its various meat specialties, which get their distinctive aroma over the open charcoal grill. I actually always eat beef fillet or pork loin with fried onions and fries as a side dish. This is mainly due to the fact that the accompanying sauces, which are always included free of charge, come into their own perfectly with this dish. There is a garlic, curry, paprika and horseradish sauce. Even my kids love the sauces. They always order fries with turkey steak so they can eat the sauces with it too. :-) I always order French onion soup as a starter. For dessert, my favorite is the warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. This is the perfect overall package for me. :-) Of course, there are many different side dishes for the meat dishes. There is also a burger on the menu. I think everyone will find something here. The owners Stefanie and Adam are perfect hosts. The entire restaurant team is also very attentive and friendly and ensures that every visit is a unique experience. We can fully recommend the Kupferpfandl and are already looking forward to our next visit. :-)

Went there with the family, with a reservation of course! I have to say it was very well attended on Monday! Super nice service and nice ambience with a view of the grill. You could watch the steaks being prepared. The food was very good. Actually 4.5 stars because I think the prices are excessive. In my opinion, the supplements are rather small and don't justify the price.

In November we were guests at the Kupferpfandl as a family. The ambience and the service from the team were very good and the waitresses often asked whether everything fit in and whether there was anything else. Personally, I didn't find the price-performance ratio to be appropriate for the steak dishes with selected side dishes. The ultimate embarrassment for this steak restaurant was the salad that was served with it. They served a mixed salad from the packet with cheap dressing. This is how you know and accept it from a canteen or cafeteria. But not in a high-priced steak restaurant! You should try the fresh side salad at Notstain.

Oh my God! What can you say about this?!? I'm rarely at a loss for words, but here... speechless! I like to eat a lot of beef... and I've come to the right place! Dry aged fillet please and 400g of it! Divine! In my opinion, there is no better place in Amberg where you can get such great beef served on an open flame as here!

Food great, ambience perfect, service excellent, prices reasonable. In addition to the price explosion, the portion was also reduced. With natural steak, there used to be at least one baked potato with it. We then went to the Christmas market and ate a bratwurst roll. Too bad.

Rustic steakhouse with a touch of French cuisine. Be sure to reserve in advance. There are 4 different sauces to accompany the steak. The only drawback is in the back part with the booths, the cooking steam comes out of the kitchen due to the service staff constantly coming in and out.

10/10. Definitely need a reservation. Amazing experience. We went as a group of four, the table was so nice, drinks were very good and came fast. Appetizers were delicious, but the mains were all incredible everyone got a variation of the steak, all cooked perfectly, all amazing. Service was so great. Loved this place!

Very unprofessional staff/reservation! Customer NOT King! 1) If a restaurant offers the option of online reservation on the homepage, then the customer generally expects. In general, also that a prompt confirmation or rejection is received and NOT that the customer has to call again after 5 days, shortly before the celebrations, whether the reservation is now confirmed or not. 2) If a restaurant has a time limit on tables, then this should be communicated to the customer BEFORE (at the latest when/immediately after) the reservation. Anyway, an absolute nonsense in general. But then throwing us out at my 60th birthday party in front of everyone and my guests without any prior information that the tables are for a limited time is the absolutely most unprofessional thing I have experienced in my entire life!!! And when I pointed out that I hadn't received the information yet, shrugging my shoulders and making the stupid statement "...then we'll just have to add it to the homepage at some point..." without any option for a solution The icing on the cake. Insanely unprofessional (mis)behavior on the part of the restaurant staff and that in a restaurant that wasn't exactly cheap by Amberg's standards. This ruined my entire birthday party. We will all definitely never come back!

Good, solid food, attentive service and nice ambience. However, we expected more in terms of taste due to the many positive reviews. Somehow the whistle and something special was missing. Sauces were just standard. Price/performance unfortunately unbalanced... some would say overpriced.

After a long time we were here again. The service was good, but you have to expect to be called by them without being asked. The waiting times for drinks and food were reasonable. The quality and taste of the food was appropriate for the price. Our expectations of the dishes we ordered were met.

Simply a wonderful evening!!! Great restaurant - dogs are allowed! Were here this evening and had dinner with six of us. At first we sat outside, but it was quite fresh (our grandma had some with us that was freezing). Shortly afterwards a table was prepared for us inside and we were allowed in. Simply great! We had a little Dalmatian with us, who was greeted warmly and immediately given a water bowl - thanks for that and sorry again that he knocked it over... Conditions/service very accommodating and friendly. Food simply phenomenal! I am a master butcher/meat technician myself and can only praise the kitchen! We had a grill plate for 3 (picture attached) Pork medallions with cranberries and berries (there is also a picture of this) and another pasta with vegetables and a large salad. Everything was great and there was nothing to complain about! The dessert rounded off the evening perfectly. Portion sizes also very, very good. We will always be happy to come back, the spotted furry friend was also happy. All in all a 10/10. Gladly again!

As a group of colleagues, we went to Kupferpfand'l for the first time in the evening and were all totally thrilled... The dry aged beef (400g) is highly recommended and simply a dream. For dessert there was a fluffy panna cotta on a fruit sauce with cotton candy. Heavenly seduction!!! Just a perfect evening…

I absolutely love this place. Recently I stayed in Amberg on a work trip and loved every minute. The food and atmosphere was great and the staff was very patient with me as I was learning German.

Very good, cozy restaurant for “beef lovers” in Amberg. The only thing you can be unlucky with is the seat, like we were. We sat in the left part right next to the door. There is little peace and quiet as the waitresses rush in and out...

The food at Kupferpfand'l was very good, we had the "men's table" with spare ribs, burgers and fries. Well prepared, large portion and very tasty! Price-performance appropriate. The renovated area in the restaurant is very tastefully and attractively furnished. The other part of the restaurant is more rustic but also charming (old wooden beams,...). The only point of criticism: the unfortunately only 1.5 hours allowed to visit the restaurant, a longer stay was not possible (despite reservations 2 weeks in advance). Relatively insensitive clearing of the plates after about an hour even though 2 out of 4 people were still eating. And after 75 minutes a very unsympathetic and direct indication that you should leave soon because the table is only reserved for 90 minutes. Not even asked if a coffee/espresso was wanted, let alone a dessert. Unfortunately, this behavior on the part of the employees has left a decidedly negative impression and will deter us from a possible visit in the future!

This restaurant had decent steaks and a great atmosphere. Everyone in my group enjoyed their steak. I got a filet with blue cheese sauce. Everything was delicious but I expect a filet to be more tender. The service was also excellent. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant.

Nice restaurant, I wasn't sure until i tasted the food. I was shocked, and the service was on point. I truly enjoyed my dinner that night.

Was a guest at the Kupferpfandl a few times... delicious! No matter whether dry aged or classic fillet steak... always on point! There is only a miniature review of the dry chocolate cake - but that is complaining at a high level... Come back 🙂

Fillet steak top 👍Cheeseburger with too little BBQ sauce and the cheese on the burger was very dry. Garlic bread as a starter was OK, but at 5.90 for 5 small slices of baguette it was too expensive.

There was a short wait for the table, unfortunately in the entrance where the smoking area is. Otherwise everything was great, super friendly and considerate staff. The waiting time for the food was just around 15 minutes (9:10 p.m. - around 9:25 p.m.) and the food was very nicely presented and plentiful. The prices are hefty but the quality of the food makes you know that the price is justified. We had the copper pan and the sick one👍🤤. Finally, warm chocolate cake. Questions about allergens were also answered promptly and competently.

If you want to eat really well in Amberg, you've come to the right place. We are always very satisfied.

Steaks were very good, although priced at the higher end, but the quality was good. We sat in the courtyard which has a nice atmosphere.
