The Krottenau Garden is not only a beautiful place to relax, but also a real culinary gem. The food there is fresh, delicious, and prepared with love. The dishes taste like homemade and fit perfectly into the cozy ambiance of the garden. The large playground, goats, and birds are a particular highlight for children. While the children romp around, the adults can chat and eat in peace and quiet.

We spontaneously went there with 12 people (5 kids) and got a nice spot where we could keep an eye on them. Great play opportunities for the kids, with various vehicles, play equipment, and animals—just fantastic. The service staff was very nice, friendly, and attentive, thank you! The food was also delicious and reasonably priced. Small changes or extras were no problem! Keep it up. We'd love to come back.

We were there with a large group. The service deserves special mention. Everyone was very friendly and on the ball. That's how you feel as a guest. Hats off! The food was also good. All in all, a very successful and enjoyable evening.

Leckeres Essen, freundliches Team. Aktualisierung August 2023: ok - Es war viel los... das Personal war sehr freundlich. Das bestellte Essen dauerte eine Weile, dann kam das Rumpsteak für 28 Euro doch total durchgebraten am Tisch an. Ging zurück, der zweite Versuch war dann ein wenig besser, leider waren die anderen Gäste am Tisch dann halt mit essen bereits fertig. Später musste man dann selbst zur Theke und eine Servicelkraft in den Nebenraum bitten... die ist dann allerdings erst mal zur großen Gesellschaft zum abkassieren, bestellen konnte man dann wieder nicht... auf die nächste Kraft warten... hier musste man erst mal drauf aufmerksam machen, dass sie doch bitte die leeren Teller mitnehmen möge. Die Fliegen waren dann doch sehr nervig. Alles in allem ein netter Abend, dass nächste mal werde ich aber definitiv kein Rumpsteak mehr bestellen....

Good every time. Not everything is homemade, but still delicious. The atmosphere is nice, too. The kids can be a bit loud at times, but that's the parents' fault.

We had dinner at the Krottenau Garden with our family on Sunday and were absolutely thrilled! The location is beautiful, cozy, inviting, and perfect for a relaxing evening. The service staff was consistently attentive, friendly, and very accommodating. The food also completely impressed us. Everything was freshly prepared and tasted absolutely fantastic! I especially recommend the feta cheese salad. The KroGa special was also a real highlight. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable visit. We'd love to come back!

Nice for kids. But the food is extremely bad.

I've been there several times with friends and family and have never been disappointed. Attentive and friendly staff, and the food was really good. I highly recommend it, even for larger events and parties, especially since it's very child-friendly.

Beautiful outdoor area. Unfortunately, only open from May to the end of August. Highly recommended. I love the fried potatoes. Great service, they always give their best and do a fantastic job! There's a huge outdoor area with play areas for the kids. Delicious Pflamkuchen (flamcakes), amazing schnitzel—really reasonably priced food!

The ambiance is very nice, and there's plenty for the kids to discover, but the food isn't of high quality; everything tastes like convenience foods. The salad was very soggy with sauce. You can't really call it pizza either; it's more like a pizza-style tarte flambée, and the schnitzel with Brägele (fried veal) was unfortunately also bad. We won't be going back.

My friends took me to this lovely family-run garden restaurant which is part of a farm/nursery located at a beautiful spot near Denzlingen. This is a wonderful place to have a yummy traditional Baden cuisine (Badische Küche) sitting outside enjoying a warm summer evening. The food is great, and the service personnel were very friendly and efficient. This is a great place for families with children to go for a meal or a drink as there is enough space and toys for kids to play and enjoy the time without getting bored. I visited this place twice and I enjoyed the food, service and the great atmosphere very much. My understanding is that this garden restaurant is only open during the summer months.

Nice ambience, cozy and lovely atmosphere.

We had the schnitzel with Brägele (traditional German sausage) and Bibliskäs (a kind of cheese). It was horrible, low-quality frozen goods. Charging €20 for it is a rip-off. Service was okay, and the ambiance is definitely a plus here, even if the plants look a bit worn and unkempt at first. You can certainly come here for a drink on a hot day, but never for the food.

We were there on Friday, June 27, 2025, with our children and grandchildren. Everyone was thrilled with the play options for the grandchildren. The food was delicious, and the service was exceptionally friendly and attentive. We highly recommend it and would happily go back.

I always enjoy coming back to the Krottenau Garden! Not only do you receive warm and attentive service, but you can also enjoy the beautiful ambiance. It's especially ideal for families with children, as there's a huge play area where the little ones can let off steam to their heart's content. The food is truly delicious, and the selection of vegetarian dishes leaves nothing to be desired. Highly recommended!

Very nice ambiance with plenty of space in the green. Perfect for children with a playground. Good food and super friendly service. Reservations are recommended on weekends because it's very popular. We'd be happy to return.

The salads we ordered were drowned in the dressing, probably long before we ordered. It was just green salad with a hint of carrot salad, and it cost a whopping €18 per salad. The spaetzle from the kids' menu was still hard, so our little one left it. The kitchen seemed to have had a terrible day during our visit yesterday. We won't be coming back.

Our daughter has celiac disease. They do everything possible to ensure she gets a gluten-free version of her schnitzel. Simply fantastic, and for us, along with the excellent food, super friendly service, and the great environment for children, it's another reason to keep coming back. Thank you!!

It's great for kids here when the weather's good. The food is nothing special. They're not fried potatoes like the menu says. All of our "fried potatoes" were soggy and greasy. The kids' schnitzel was unfortunately tough. The schnitzel on the adults' plates didn't look any better. The food was okay but could be better. The drinks add quite a bit to the bill if you stay there for a while.

We found the restaurant by chance while passing through and were absolutely thrilled. Even though it was already late, the kitchen was opened again for us. The service is warm and super fast! Because we liked it so much, we came back two weeks later. The second visit was also great - great food, wonderful ambience and again great service. We will be back!

Really great! We had to wait forever for a table because it was so full but we didn't mind. The children were super happy playing and didn't even notice the wait. Service is nice and the food is good. You can drink a beer in peace while the children have fun. The only problem: the children don't want to go home in the end 😅

Unfreundlich zu Kindern. Wer sich direkt bei Ankunft anmotzen lassen will, weil die anderen Kinder Unfug treiben, der ist hier gut aufgehoben. Wir waren grad 2 Minuten da, da wurden wir angepampt, weil unsere Tochter angeblich andauern das Wasser anstellt. Dabei lief es schon als wir kamen. Wer so zu Kindern ist, den braucht kein Mensch!

Big fan of the restaurant. The children are always very busy with the numerous leisure activities. At the same time, you will be treated to good food and drink surrounded by beautiful plants. A visit is therefore worthwhile for couples or families!!!

We were in Krottenau-Garten today and would like to thank the owners of Krottenau-Garten from the bottom of our hearts. This ambience allows parents to drink a coffee and enjoy the food in peace. One wishes that many more restaurant owners would use the Krottenau Garden as an example. The food is great, the service. The route from Ettenheim and Herbolzheim is even worth it

Value for money is an absolute disgrace (14€ for a bit of fried potatoes & salad), service isn't great, but the location is very nice.

The atmosphere is really nice, you sit in the middle of plants and trees. However, the price of the food is a disgrace, you don't get full and still pay €19 for a bit of fried potatoes, quark and an average schnitzel.

A dream for parents and children: The food in the Strauße is (consistently) very good and it's lovely to spend some time outside. The children really get their money's worth in the playground and many vehicles. There are goats and rabbits. Always worth a visit 🌺

Absolut schlecht,beim Axhnitt l ist die soße ausgegangen ,Bibiliskäse übersalzen,und Schnitzel sehr klein und Service sehr unhöflich,und muss lange warten,beim Boden liegt auch müll,und ist dreckig.

Einen Flammkuchen für 11 Euro, ein Viertel Wein für über 8 Euro - und das in einer Gartenwirtschaft, die sich speziell an Familien richtet. Da stimmt das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis inzwischen nicht mehr. Insgesamt hat das Lokal an Charme verloren, unsere Besuchstaktung wird in der kommenden Saison deutlich reduziert...

We were here for my nephews' baptism and recently for my two brothers' birthdays. It's always nice here. There are cars for the children to drive; a deposit must be paid for this. There are two table football tables for free play. There is really a lot for the children to play and run around with. The food is very good. The waffles are also very tasty.

Once again the perfect stopover on the way back from vacation, thank you very much for the great break! Perfect for the children with pedal cars, playground and animals, perfect, cozy atmosphere for us parents and the perfect meal for all of us (although the children somehow had little time to eat 😊) We'd love to come back!

We were guests at your house two days ago in the evening. The atmosphere and the playground were really nice. As a trained hotel manager, I have to say that I have never experienced such poor service. We had 3 different waitresses at the table that evening, where no one could say please and thank you. I had to point out a few times that we would like to order something to eat, but one waitress then ran to two others because she apparently couldn't take the food. The waiter squeezed between the decorations and the chair, even though the path to the left was the same. We had to wait at least an hour for the food, which tasted really good, but the tarte flambée and the spaetzle were cold. When we wanted to order something to drink from the waiter, he stood in front of us with his cell phone without saying a word or anything. When the plates were cleared away, the plates at the table were stacked 50 different times until he took them away. That doesn't work!! We weren't asked if everything was okay. When we paid I wanted to pay our bill in cash. When the waitress told me the amount, I gave her the money and she asked me what she should give me!?!? I've never heard anything like that before. So I, as a trained hotel manager who also works in a beer garden, have to say that the waiters can't say please and thank you, it's totally unstructured. Everyone should have their own station and not 3 different ones at one table. You urgently need to learn how to clear plates or behave in front of guests. Greetings from Bavaria

Ideal für Geburtstage. Kinder sind beschäftigt. Eltern können unbekümmert essen. Danke an das ganze Team.

Der Flammkuchen von meiner Frau kam als erstes. Ca. 15 Minuten vor allen anderen Essen. Nicht gut bei 11 Personen und der Salat von meiner Frau kam dann auch erst mit dem restlichen Essen.

Das Essen ist hier ganz Okay, der Service ist genau so ganz Okay und das Ambiente ist für jemanden der Kinder hat sicher gut (sonst nichts besonderes).

Wir kommen immer wieder gerne hier her. Die Einrichtung ist schön und gemütlich, ideal für einen besonderen Abend oder aber auch für einen festlichen Anlass. Auch wenn das Restaurant mal gut besucht ist, fühlen wir uns nicht übersehen, denn das Personal ist sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Sie haben uns herzlich begrüßt und sich während des gesamten Abends gut um uns gekümmert. Außerdem waren alle Servicekräfte äußerst flexibel und haben unsere persönlichen Vorlieben berücksichtigt. Falls der Service dann doch einmal überlastet sein sollte, gibt es die Möglichkeit über einen QR Code am Tisch Getränke oder Speisen (nach) zu bestellen. Mit dem Handy ist das ganz einfach und hat problemlos funktioniert. Das Essen war ebenfalls sehr gut, die Gerichte sind vielfältig und super lecker. Man merkt, dass hier mit Liebe gekocht wird und Frische, regionale Zutaten verwendet werden.

Hatten uns mit einer größeren Gruppe im Krottenau-Garten getroffen. Obwohl einige andere Leute schon da waren, gab es keinerlei Probleme, was Parkplätze oder Plätze vor Ort anging. Wir saßen dabei draußen und der Service war aufmerksam und freundlich. Auch Spätankömmlinge wurden zügig bedient. Schönes Extra: Über einen QR-Code in der Speisekarte & die Tischnummer kann man auch direkt am Platz bestellen, falls der Service gerade ausgelastet ist. Das Essen hat allen geschmeckt und die Portionen waren auch ausreichend groß. Gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis. Die Atmosphäre war angenehm und hatte etwas von gemütlicher Garten-Atmosphäre. Kinder haben ausreichend Möglichkeit in der Nähe zu spielen.

Tolles Ausflugsziel mit kleinen Kindern.

Ein super Platz für Eltern bzw. Großeltern mit kleinen Kindern, die ungewöhnlich viel Raum und Fahrzeuge zum spielen haben. Der Service ist excellent, der Flammkuchen mit Ziegenkäse besonders zu empfehlen.

Der Flammkuchen war super, das Ambiente ist für alle, die Pflanzen mögen, Klasse. Begrenzte Sitzplätze. Auch für Kinder wird ein Spielplatz und Tretautos geboten. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Einfach schön. Die Kinder sind die ganze Zeit mit spielen beschäftigt auf dem tollen Gelände. Spielplatz, Fahrzeuge und Tiere. Es ist für jedes Kind was dabei. Als Erwachsener kann man gemütlich essen und quatschen. Absolut empfehlenswert.

War zum ersten Mal hier und es hat sich sowas von gelohnt. Hier kann man super sitzen, das Essen war wirklich richtig, richtig gut. Extrem große Portionen. Kind konnte auf dem großen Gelände spielen, es gibt Fahrzeuge, einen Spielplatz, Ziegen und Hühner. Also wirklich sehr Kinderfreundlich. Die Bedienung war sehr aufmerksam und super freundlich. Das Ambiente grandios, ruhig, entspannt und idyllisch, sehr zu empfehlen. Hier kann man richtig abschalten und die Kinder sind beschäftigt.

Ein Eldorado für Familien mit Kindern!

Essen war gut und schön wars' Lediglich ein Stern abzug, da um 22 Uhr die Küche zu war (in der Karte stand 23 Uhr), wir den bestellten süßen Flammkuchen nicht mehr bekommen haben, er dann aber auf der Rechnung stand. Einen zweiten Stern abzug, da wir um 23 Uhr rausgeworfen wurden während nebenan eine größere Gesellschaft noch am Feiern war.

Vor 10 Jahren feierte ich hier meinen 60.Geburtstag. Das war so toll, dass ich nun auch meinen 70er hier feierte. Meine Gäste waren wieder begeistert. Sekt zur Begrüßung, dazu Flammkuchen. Das Grillbuffet war großzügig bestückt mit Steaks, Würstle, Grillgemüse, Brägele. Die Salate schmeckten prima, der Kartoffelsalat von der Oma des Hauses war genial. Einige Gäste haben eine Gluten-Unverträglichkeit, auch auf deren Bedürfnisse wurde eingegangen. Service war zügig und superfreundlich, auch zu fortgerückter Stunde. Und unsere Kids waren happy, dass der Spielplatz mit Tretautos, Klettermöglichkeit und Streichelzoo zum Zeitvertreib und toben da war. Meinen 80ten habe ich bereits vorgemerkt. Vielen Dank an Familie Malzacher!

War echt schön hier, tolle Atmosphäre bei angenehmen Ambiente. Der Service war sehr freundlich und schnell und auch das Essen kam Ruckzuck. Geschmeckt hat es ebenfalls sehr gut, einziger Kritikpunkt ist das die Speisekarte etwas umfangreicher sein könnte. Ich werde aber bei Gelegenheit gerne wieder kommen.
