I've rarely experienced a more unfriendly restaurant. Four of us, plus a small child, wanted to eat there and had made a reservation by phone. When we arrived, the waitress was so rude, telling us there were no seats, even though there were obviously empty seats. There was also no indication that we might have to wait. This kind of behavior towards guests is unacceptable and completely unacceptable!

We went here for dinner with our little daughter (1 year old). The staff was very friendly. They brought a high chair to our table, and our daughter received a bowl of fresh fries very quickly. Our meal (the daily special) arrived a little late, but that was perfectly fine! A reservation in advance is definitely advisable.

We were satisfied. We had to wait a bit long for the food.

There were four of us. Three stayed home, and one checked the restaurants for available tables because reservations aren't available there either. When I arrived, I was promised a table for four and had to wait outside. I called the other three. When my name was called, I wasn't allowed to sit alone at the table, only the whole group, and so the table was taken away. This statement came across as very rude and snarky. The other three arrived, and we waited a little longer until a new table became available. The atmosphere by the pond with the croaking frogs was great, but the food, unfortunately, was not. The fish salad consisted of various coleslaws and two dry pieces of fish. The pickled herring was beyond dry and therefore inedible. The children's schnitzel was as thin as a hair and tasted very strange (meat? breading?). Only the fish soup was very tasty. We wouldn't go there again. The older waitress was very unfriendly to us and the other guests.

We've rarely had such an unpleasant experience in a restaurant. During our visit, we asked to be seated on the outdoor terrace in the nice weather – there was a large table available there. Our request was initially rejected very dismissively, then we were reprimanded in an unfriendly and abusive tone, as if it were impertinent for us to have even asked. Instead of a polite reminder or a brief conversation, the waitress literally dismissed us. The tone was disrespectful and inappropriate – we felt completely unwelcome as a guest. Such behavior is unacceptable for a restaurant that relies on customers. The nice weather would have made for a pleasant restaurant visit – instead, it turned out to be an experience we won't soon forget, unfortunately in a negative sense. We then decided not to order and left the restaurant. Service is the hallmark of every restaurant – and here it failed miserably. I unfortunately cannot recommend a visit to this restaurant.

I don't understand all the positive reviews! The restaurant is dark and musty. It's quite nice outside, but nothing special. We were very disappointed with the highly praised food. I've had much better fish in Zingst... The white wine wasn't cold enough. Overall, we won't go back. Oh, and the staff wasn't unfriendly, but nothing more...

I was truly disappointed by the staff's behavior. Friendliness and customer service were unfortunately lacking. Instead of being helpful or courteous, you felt like you were a nuisance. Questions were answered impatiently or even rudely, and the overall atmosphere was very unprofessional. A place stands or falls with its team – and here, unfortunately, the entire experience was negatively impacted by the staff. It's a shame; I had hoped for more.

A restaurant located on a main road in Zingst, bordered by a pretty pond. The ambiance is understated and sophisticated. Service is friendly and attentive. The food, priced around €20, is of excellent quality and selection. Highly recommended after several visits. It's sure to be very busy during peak season.

There were 8 of us there and everyone was completely satisfied with the food! From fish to meat and children's meals, everything was delicious and prepared to perfection. The desserts were also to die for. Clear recommendation! We went without a reservation and even though it was very busy we didn't have to wait long for a table. Thanks to the whole team!

Der Geschäftsführer des Restaurants war unverschämt. Als wir ein Fenster öffneten, weil es zu warm war, sagte er uns, er würde ja auch nicht zu uns nach Hause kommen und dasselbe tun. Ab diesem Moment war der Service praktisch nicht mehr vorhanden. Eine Person aus unserer Gruppe wollte nichts essen und wurde respektlos behandelt. Uns wurde gesagt, wir seien Gäste und sollten uns auch so verhalten. Ich würde dieses Restaurant unter allen Umständen meiden. Das Essen war in Ordnung.

Nice restaurant, a bit hidden, we came across it through the good reviews on the internet and were not disappointed. The four of us were there in the late afternoon in the off-season and it was therefore empty. We didn't have a reservation. In the evening, however, things are different and without a reservation you have little chance. The service was very nice and the food was very tasty. We sat outside on the terrace in sunny weather and had a nice view of a small pond. This restaurant is recommended.

Never again crane rest - a tragedy in several acts Anyone who expects a relaxing evening with good food and pleasant service should give the “Kranichrast” a wide berth. Our visit ended before it could even begin - and that was not our fault, but rather the innkeeper's remarkably unfriendly demeanor. We arrived five minutes before our reservation - not too early, mind you, but simply on time with a touch of anticipation. But instead of being greeted in a friendly manner, we were harshly expelled from the restaurant. Reason: We are too early. Several tables were obviously free and already set, but that didn't seem to bother anyone at the crane rest - in fact we were asked to wait in front of the door. Our polite request whether we could perhaps have a drink at the bar was rudely and categorically rejected. Instead of a welcome greeting, we received a strangely imperious tone and a clear message: We were not wanted here. When we expressed our incomprehension about this strange reception, we were quickly advised to leave the restaurant and not to come back. We were happy to oblige – with growing shaking of our heads. Anyone who treats their guests like this should worry less about star ratings and more about basic decency. Conclusion: arrogance instead of hospitality. If you value respectful treatment, it's better to look for another restaurant.

Nie wieder Kranichrast – ein Trauerspiel in mehreren Akten Wer sich einen entspannten Abend mit gutem Essen und angenehmem Service verspricht, sollte um die „Kranichrast“ einen weiten Bogen machen. Unser Besuch endete, bevor er überhaupt beginnen konnte – und das lag nicht etwa an uns, sondern am bemerkenswert unfreundlichen Auftreten des Wirts. Wir trafen fünf Minuten vor unserer Reservierung ein – wohlgemerkt: nicht zu früh, sondern schlicht pünktlich mit einem Hauch von Vorfreude. Doch anstatt freundlich empfangen zu werden, wurden wir barsch des Lokals verwiesen. Begründung: Wir seien zu früh. Mehrere Tische waren offensichtlich frei und bereits eingedeckt, doch daran schien man sich im Kranichrast nicht zu stören – vielmehr wurden wir aufgefordert, vor der Tür zu warten. Unsere höfliche Nachfrage, ob wir vielleicht einen Drink an der Bar nehmen dürften, wurde ebenso unhöflich wie kategorisch abgelehnt. Statt eines Willkommensgrußes ernteten wir einen befremdlich herrischen Ton und eine klare Botschaft: Wir seien hier unerwünscht. Als wir unser Unverständnis über diesen merkwürdigen Empfang äußerten, wurde uns kurzerhand empfohlen, das Restaurant zu verlassen und auch nicht wiederzukommen. Dem sind wir – mit wachsendem Kopfschütteln – gerne nachgekommen. Denn wer seine Gäste so behandelt, sollte sich weniger um Sternebewertungen und mehr um Grundanstand bemühen. Fazit: Arroganz statt Gastfreundschaft. Wer Wert auf respektvollen Umgang legt, sucht sich besser ein anderes Lokal.

So everyone was friendly and accommodating to me, I can't complain. We had the Hamburger Schnitzel twice. At the beginning the recommendation of the day was also presented (which would have been fish dishes). The atmosphere was just as I imagined it, typical, no big surprises. You can pay in cash or with EC. We were here for lunch, so it was very quiet. But you should definitely make a reservation for dinner as it always seems to be full. But I also made a personal reservation for lunch, as I lived right next door. The food was tasty, the fried potatoes weren't swimming in oil like some of the other bad reviews. The side salad was very tasty with the dressing. The prices are like everywhere else, ok. The Hamburger Schnitzel came to €17.90 and the large soda €4.60. We spent a total of just under €48, which is great for two. The portion size was also more than enough. So everything is great.

The dish of cod fillet on braised cucumbers in Dijon mustard sauce took a lot of getting used to. The braised cucumbers were made from gherkins, which didn't go well with the mustard sauce. But the other dishes were all great. The staff very friendly. The ambience is simple.

Today we're going to Zingst for lunch. My first impression was that it was a bit hidden, but when we arrived we found a very inviting place with a terrace that must be wonderful in summer. It is ideal for people with physical disabilities because it is at ground level and the parking lot is close. The entrance area was well maintained and we were greeted warmly. The staff had a smile and showed us to the seat, which we were free to choose. The drinks, such as wine and Prosecco, came quickly and sensibly chilled. We were immediately in the mood for main courses and fish (which is quite rare for me). I treated myself to the Kranihrast fish platter with fillets of cod, zander and salmon with extra prawns, fried potatoes and remolade as there are several types of fish that have to have different cooking points in order to be top, just to see how the chef understands and implements his craft. My companion had fried medallions of cod on braised cucumbers with Dijon mustard sauce and parsley potatoes. The individual types of fish (for both of us) were well done. For me, the salmon and shrimp were too cooked and therefore dry, so the generous amount of butter didn't help. Maybe cooking with lemon juice would have been enough and the salamander would finally do the rest. Since the citric acid reacts with the protein of fish, it would be the best method (in my opinion). The other types of fish were on point and the braised cucumber salt was great. The tartar sauce wasn't homemade but that can be misleading (and the bearded potatoes don't come close to those from Sandkorn Alex Prerow😜). Desserts were Mecklenburger Rote Grütze and chocolate mousse with wild berries. In both cases the berries were very sour but still tasty. Let's come to one of my most important points, the toilet was so clean and had everything I value. Even the CHROME door handles/fittings were so polished that you could really see a reflection, awesome. Ok, we were among the first guests and then at lunchtime too. You have to take a look at the evening business. Conclusion: price/management excellent, ideal for sociable, relaxed evenings. We'll be back.

Food is OK but not much homemade. Salads are from a can and I didn't hear a knock from the kitchen for the schnitzel. The interior is quite normal, not necessarily comfortable.

My daughter and I are currently on a short wellness trip in Zingst and spontaneously visited the Kranihrast inn...the service was very friendly and, above all, quick and attentive. We really enjoyed our food... my fried flounder was great and my child ate up the tagliatelle with spinach and salmon like the wind. The atmosphere is cozy and clean. The prices are reasonable up here... Definitely worth a visit👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Nice restaurant, polite and quick service

The ambience is from typical restaurant times. The food is to die for. The fish was perfect, as were the fried potatoes. Crispy and tender inside, not greasy perfect. If you are in Zingst you should definitely eat here!

A cozy restaurant that serves good traditional cuisine. The food was first class and even the children cleaned the entire plate, it was so delicious. The fish platter was perfectly prepared. All three types of fish were cooked to perfection. The fillet platter was also immaculate. And for the kids, the schnitzel and the buffers were a “precision landing” The service is first class and super friendly. All in all, a very nice restaurant where you can stop by.

We were there over New Year's Eve, a call at lunchtime to make a reservation, very friendly on the phone despite high demand, nice cozy restaurant with friendly staff even when we were stressed. Ich kann die negativen Bewertungen nicht verstehen. Wir waren Silvester da essen und mehr als zufrieden. Der Service war super. Wir wurden freundlich darauf hingewiesen , dass wir eine anderthalbe Stunde zum Essen Zeit haben. Völlig ausreichend und kein Gast hat dies bemängelt. Das Essen war super, alles frisch und der Fisch auf den Punkt. Die Nachspeisen waren auch sehr lecker und frisch gemacht.

We had dinner at the Kranihrast on New Year's Eve, and the service was unfriendly and unmotivated from the first moment. Shortly after the main course, for which we had to wait about 40 minutes, we were asked to pay and leave. The next guests would already be waiting. We had to empty our still full glasses in a hurry. Has little to do with comfortable. Everything tasted very good but the service was a disaster. Recurrence is therefore rather unlikely.

We called and wanted to reserve a table. On the phone they said rather rudely, “Just come over”… 20 minutes later in the restaurant… “Have you made a reservation?” “No? Phew, we’ll have to see if we can find something…” Seriously? I would have preferred to go back. Very unpleasant feeling… After the difficult beginning, the service was good so far! The ambience was okay. Food absolutely top. We would go there again for the food (which is what matters), but unfortunately the difficult start remains in our minds…

The restaurant is not bad, but unfortunately guests are not allowed to freely choose the payment method. The fact that only German EC cards (which have not been available for several years) are accepted is very strange in an international holiday destination and leaves an unpleasant feeling.

The food was good. I had Bratherig. Nice firm flesh and luscious. The staff could have been friendlier. I found it a bit impersonal and didn't know exactly what was on offer. In any case, the waitress couldn't answer my question about a schnapps (caraway).

A really very cozy atmosphere, very nice and attentive service and of course very tasty food. Unfortunately, we didn't discover the restaurant until the end of our vacation, but we were there again the next (and unfortunately last) evening. A big compliment to the kitchen, very tastefully prepared and also very pleasing to the eye. I can really only recommend it!
