We had a very good meal there. The service was friendly. We sat on the terrace, which had patio heaters. Our dog felt comfortable there, too.

A very nice restaurant with competent, hard-working staff. The food is simply delicious. There's a heated outdoor area for the colder months, which is beautifully designed. We'd be happy to come back anytime, so we give it a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐.

The best part is the view from the roof terrace. Nowadays, you have to serve yourself up there, and the service isn't all that friendly.

We didn't get our food, and after waiting for almost an hour, we left. The noise level is considerable, whether from the constant scraping of chairs or the sheer volume of people. Normal conversation is impossible unless you raise your voice yourself.

We've eaten there regularly for six years because of the excellent food. This year, the door was so badly slammed that we (six people) are happy to stop going. The "boss" has always been rude, especially now. Friendliness has truly become a foreign concept, and unfortunately, this has also spread to the staff. They simply don't need it anymore, and neither do we as guests.

Unfortunately, I can't comment on the food, as we left the restaurant before even seeing the menu. But let's start from the beginning... We wanted to enjoy our last evening and chose the nearby Gasthaus Kranichrast. A reservation wasn't possible, but we were assured that this wouldn't be a problem if we arrived on time. No sooner said than done, we arrived at the restaurant at 6 p.m. and were proven wrong. In the end, we were offered a seat in the supposedly heated front garden. So, warm on top and cool below... When we immediately found a table inside, we were told, upon inquiry, "We don't move once you've taken a seat." Fine, then, we didn't eat or drink there either, especially since we hadn't received the menu yet. This place is highly recommended.

We'd love to come back. The food was delicious and fresh. In summer, you can also sit on the terrace. Friendly staff.

We found this restaurant by chance, and it was worth it. The food was delicious, and the staff were on the ball and very friendly. The terrace is covered by a gazebo/tent. There's not much ventilation, hence only 4 stars. After a short while, the restaurant was very busy. We were really lucky to get a table.

Although a reservation by phone was unfortunately not possible, the five-minute wait was worth it. Where hospitality seems to be a foreign concept I visited the Kranichrast today with my wife and daughter. Since we had read online that reservations weren't recommended, we decided to go without. The man at the bar said that everything was full and we'd have to wait. That wasn't a problem for us. Since there were four or five free stools in front of the bar, we naturally wanted to sit there and wait. However, the bartender, rather unpolitely, instructed us to wait "between the doors" and pointed to the narrow entrance area between the front door and a second door. In my estimation, the space was no more than 1.5 meters wide, and every time more guests came in, we would have had to squeeze together with our damp clothes and umbrellas (it had been raining) to even get in. I have a completely different understanding of hospitality. We then spontaneously left. I certainly wouldn't throw my money at a host like that.

The Kranihrast restaurant in Zingst is a recommended restaurant. Especially for lovers of fish dishes and those looking for a place with good service and a pleasant atmosphere.

Actually, zero stars, but unfortunately, that's not possible. If you want to learn how to successfully scare away guests, this is the place for you! On the phone, they said: "We don't take reservations, just drop by, there are plenty of seats." After a 30-minute drive, we finally get the "premium seat": right by the open door in the draft. A table change? Of course not – "We don't do that here." Customer friendliness? None. Instead, the waiter simply turns around and leaves. We paid for the drinks we had already ordered and left – and now we know: If you value respect and service, you'd better eat somewhere else. 👉 "So much arrogance with zero service at the same time – thank you, never again!"

We had dinner here on our last evening together and arrived at the last minute (8:28 PM - the kitchen closes at 8:30 PM 😅) because our children wouldn't go to sleep. We were still greeted and served warmly and had an excellent meal. Since we were the last ones there, we could hear the guys laughing in the kitchen, which I think perfectly reflected what we got. Simply fantastic. Thank you so much.

We had dinner at Kranichrast in the evening. Unfortunately, we only got a table on the terrace. It was quite chilly that evening, so we ate wrapped up in our jackets. The staff can't be blamed for the temperature. We received very friendly and courteous service. The food was the best we've had in our two weeks in Zingst. I had fish and my wife had steak. We were both blown away. A huge compliment, once again, to the chef. We unfortunately visited you much too late in our vacation, otherwise we would have come more often. So, we'll keep a fantastic meal in our memories. Such great food, superb, attentive service. We'd love to go back. Thanks to the Kranichrast team. We give you full marks, which you more than deserve. 😀

A tasteful ambiance meets equally delicious food. The meat of my pork medallions with duchess potatoes and onions tossed in wine practically melted in my mouth. The unique taste is definitely worth the wait and the price. The servers are extremely attentive. There's also a mini children's menu for our little gourmets, alongside the main menu. Whether meat, fish, or vegetarian, there's something for everyone here. A tip: arrive early to secure one of the coveted tables – reservations are not required here.

Reservations aren't possible, but the wait was worth it. And it wasn't that long. Our order was taken very quickly by a friendly young waitress, and drinks were promptly served. It took a while for the food to arrive, but as I said, the wait was worth it. It was so delicious, and the portions were just right. You can't get cheap anymore, but it's reasonable here.

We wanted to have lunch with five people today. The restaurant was almost empty (one table occupied), as was the terrace. We were told that it was "forbidden" to push two tables together. That's the house rules. And if we didn't like it, we could just leave. We left and absolutely don't understand how employees can react like that when there are no customers in the restaurant. We would not recommend this restaurant. We wanted to eat there, but unfortunately all the tables outside were taken, which was not a problem for us. We asked upstairs if we could have a drink inside until a table became free, but we were told in a clear, rude and aggressive manner that we should wait outside. We complained and told them that we would not tolerate such unfriendly treatment, which made everything worse. We went outside and cursed, whereupon one employee even came out and offered to hit us. This restaurant is completely unacceptable, the owner thinks he's a king, but the customer is no longer treated like that, perhaps they no longer need it.

Unfortunately, no review is possible outside of our service experience: shortly after we arrived and hadn't (yet) ordered anything (in fact, only my youngest was sitting), I wanted to move from inside to a free table on the terrace with my two sons. I asked politely and received a very brusque and repeated reply: "No swapping!" Perhaps it was the high interior temperature (sorry), or because I didn't want to follow their instructions, or perhaps it was the 'Nordic edge,' which, as a Berliner, I've always found to be warm-hearted - we left... and therefore, unfortunately, can't comment on the quality of the food or the other, certainly friendly, ladies and gentlemen at the restaurant.

Here are my experiences at the Gasthaus Kranichrast in Zingst: Today, after a stroll through town with our toddler, baby, and dog, we were looking for a place to stop for a bite to eat. We found this option at Gasthaus Kranichrast and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The restaurant is very clean, and the service is friendly and prompt! The food (a fish dish, a portion of tagliatelle with fresh tomatoes and mushrooms, and a red and white fries for our eldest) was delicious, and we will try to get a seat here again next time we are in Zingst. We definitely recommend it.

A reservation for a larger group (8 of us) wasn't possible. Even if not everyone arrived at the same time, there wasn't enough space for a table. Other guests in front of us were also rudely greeted by the manager at the bar and told to leave – absolutely unacceptable! Sitting eight people in a beer garden is already stretched to the limit – there are no extra tables. The staff at the table tried to salvage what they could, but they weren't happy about it. The food was just about okay. The fried potatoes came out of a bag and weren't crispy, not even a little. And the price is a bit steep for that. For us, it was a one-time visit. Thank you for the unfriendly experience!

Four of us wanted to eat there, and what was offered to us was impossible. Since you can't make reservations, we went on a hunch. So we didn't mind having to wait for a table. However, we weren't offered a seat at the counter; instead, the older female server asked us to wait outside. When we were offered a table after about 10 minutes, an area of the surface was still damp and there were salt or sugar crumbs on it, so we asked the server mentioned above to wipe the table. We were told that the table had already been wiped and that was where the dampness was coming from. We then pointed out the crumbs to the server mentioned above. We were again told that the table had already been cleaned and if we didn't like it, we could leave - which we did. What should also be mentioned is that the table was on the terrace and as we left we noticed that other guests were discussing our behavior.

The manager's behavior was absolutely unfriendly. There were two of us here, we ordered something, and we were waiting for two more, and then we ordered again. We're blocking the table and might have to get up because others are already waiting inside for the table on the terrace. We haven't even gotten what we ordered yet, and we're already getting this announcement. This is a complete impertinence. If we weren't waiting for two more, I would have left.

Very tasty Finkenwerder-style plaice (500g). The beer (Rostocker Zwickel) is unfortunately very expensive (€6.50 for 0.6l). Cozy, quiet atmosphere on the terrace, by an artificial pond, somewhat secluded.

We came here for dinner, received a friendly welcome, and had a nice little table on the terrace with our dog. The service was very friendly and attentive, and the wait for our orders was short. The fish was cooked to perfection, and the salad, fried potatoes, and remoulade were definitely homemade. Excellent value for money; we'd be happy to come back.

I've rarely experienced such bad-tempered service two days in a row. It was clear that the waiters would rather be somewhere else than working there. Waiting at the bar, having a drink, and consequently spending more money was not encouraged. A strange way to run a restaurant. The food was good – typical German restaurant quality. The price/performance ratio was OK. I won't be coming back, though.

The food is consistently delicious. Even though we had to wait 30 minutes for it to be served. However, we are shocked that we had to pay €1.00 for 20 ml of ketchup. Kids eat ketchup with fries and schnitzel. That makes €4.00 for 80 ml of ketchup. I can get two 450 ml bottles in the store!!!! This is just as unacceptable as the drink prices. €5.90 for half a liter of Alsterwasser or a beer... Well, tourists can be ripped off. Given these circumstances, all we can say is, we won't be back. Addendum: My grandson vomited up the schnitzel after about 25 minutes in the apartment, and I had the herring, which was accompanied by diarrhea. Hmm, I don't know how to assess these health symptoms....

Immediately after we sat down at the table, an unfriendly older waitress asked us what we wanted to eat. We asked for some time to read the menu. We quickly got the impression that we were being dealt with quickly so that the table would be freed up. The lady came back 2 minutes later and asked us again if we had decided yet. This happened one more time. After we felt pressured to choose our meal, we waited almost an hour for it. When the food finally arrived, we discovered that the portion sizes were generally small, but the Jägerschnitzel in particular was too small to fill even for a 10-year-old. So overall a nice location, but unfortunately only from the outside.

A lovely restaurant where you'll enjoy a quick break. There's something here to satisfy every appetite. A quick tip: the tiramisu is a modest size! So if you just want a little something, you can easily share it with someone else!

Beautiful inn with a lovely terrace. If you want a spot in the evening, you should arrive at 5:00 PM or very late. Otherwise, you'll have to wait in line. At least in the summer months.

Like everywhere else, it was crowded, but we were allowed to choose a table. Since we didn't want to sit in the aisle, we took a chair from another table, but the waitress intervened (although they definitely didn't restrict our walking distance). The meal took a relatively long time (about 45 minutes), and the fish dishes were good (the fish was well-cooked, the fried potatoes, unfortunately, were only mediocre). However, the farmer's breakfast was a disaster—it was more like an omelet with fried potatoes carelessly thrown into it, without onions or other vegetables, and hardly any bacon. Since my comment was met with the words "that's always the way it is with us," I can only advise against it. Apart from that, the value for money is still quite good (except for the drinks; a large beer for €6.50 is too much for me). Otherwise, the outside seating by the pond is very pleasant.

We noticed the inn during a train tour. Two days ago, six of us, including two children, had dinner there. The inn offers plenty of space with a large covered terrace. The food tasted good, and the portions were sufficient. Unfortunately, we had to wait over an hour for our food, and the starter (soup) was forgotten. Only after asking again did it finally arrive. Unfortunately, this also delayed the actual main courses. A no-go, especially with small children. The staff seemed very annoyed and unfriendly to us, and they frantically "ran" from table to table.

Reserving a table is categorically rejected at Kranichrast. So, we showed up for dinner around 5:30 p.m. with two of our four guests; the other two arrived about 15 minutes later. The owner categorically refused to assign us a table, arguing that we weren't "complete" and would take up too many seats. What's that all about??? At that time, seven tables were free inside and one on the terrace! We didn't accept this "argument" and simply sat down at one of the free tables for four. When our two other companions arrived about 10 minutes later, six of the seven free tables were still free; so much for this "guestlessness and helplessness." Two points for this are actually flattering. The staff is quick but only superficially friendly. The food is almost entirely convenience food, like anywhere else; the chef doesn't really prepare it himself; but it tastes and seasons well. The ambiance, with its water lily pond in front of the house, is a beautiful, unique selling point for Zingst. This is precisely why the owner should welcome and treat his guests appropriately. In any case, we felt like the owner treated us more like "annoying" customers; we weren't even really there. No photos, because what fried or duchess potatoes look like out of a bag is well known. Will you be coming back? - Not for now!

We initially wanted to reserve a table for 8 people, but were told over the phone to just drop by. It was full. We waited almost half an hour and got two tables for 4 people (we weren't allowed to push them together). We waited about 45 minutes for food after ordering. I ordered a steak plate, and it was a bit small, and the sauce and onions were disgusting. I wouldn't recommend it for groups of more than 4 people.

Well, what can I write? Unfortunately, I can't completely agree with the many positive reviews. Yes, it's true, the food tasted very good overall. Except that the fried potatoes were initially served lukewarm, and after asking twice, they were remedied. Furthermore, the portion of fried potatoes was a bit small for my liking! (Hence one star deduction). Unfortunately, we also observed that four paying guests were denied their request to sit outside, even though a table was available there without a reservation. These guests eventually left the restaurant. In the end, I asked for the bill via debit card. The waiter walked past our table several times without responding. The total wait time was about 6 minutes. Only after we got up was he asked again. I finally paid at the counter. At this point, as a guest, I would have expected at least a brief apology, but apparently the hosts don't care whether you feel comfortable. Therefore, an urgent appeal to the owners of this inn: please rethink your concept to focus on friendliness and customer orientation, and you'll be spared such reviews. But don't worry, you won't see us again!

Hello, I tried to reserve a table for 6 people in advance (from a distance), but they didn't. They told me to come, etc. There were maybe 10 people in front of us, and some couples and people were very annoyed. We then left and were warmly welcomed at another restaurant. P.S. We also met a few people at this restaurant.

Well, where do you start and where do you stop? Certainly with the good stuff! Location: 5 stars. We were attracted from the start and it didn't disappoint. Service: Meh. Impersonal is the best description. Not bad, but not even a hint of small talk or anything. That includes the wait time. We arrived near the end of peak time and had to wait over 80 minutes for our food. Even the best "in" restaurants with twice as many seats always manage to do it in less than half the time. (Just from experience.) Food: Ambitious for more, but still room for improvement. Nicely garnished. Portion size rather meager. Taste as well. The fried potatoes were blandly seasoned. The schnitzels were small. The fish was lukewarm. Every good snack bar in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is committed to serving properly seasoned fries. Why not the good food? At least the mushrooms and sauce as a side dish were really great. But that's not enough. The side salad wasn't really worth mentioning either. Finally, none of us five were really full. We arrived full of anticipation and left feeling like we wouldn't come back again.

Quietly located by a large garden pond, beautifully overgrown with reeds. The atmosphere is inviting, and there's seating on the terrace. We opted for cod fillet and plaice, which were cooked to my liking, not the sushi-like quality most TV chefs cook. We'll be back!

But the true highlight was the food: every single dish was a feast for the eyes, lovingly presented and prepared with high-quality ingredients. Kranichrast – Good food in a beautiful location, but not entirely family-friendly Like many restaurants in Zingst, Kranichrast doesn't accept reservations – anyone wanting a table has to drop in on the off chance. We arrived shortly after 5 p.m. and were able to snag a lovely spot on the terrace right by the pond. However, as a family with three generations, including small children, we didn't feel particularly welcome. The predominantly older guests also seemed less than pleased by the presence of children. In addition to the classic menu, there are daily specials, but these were either no longer available or weren't offered to us at all – a shame. Despite the restaurant being busy, the food arrived quickly. The dishes were solid, the fish cooked to perfection. Towards the end, the service also became noticeably friendlier. By the time we left, the restaurant was completely full, both inside and out. Therefore, if you want a seat, you should arrive early.
