KostBar in Chemnitz

We stumbled upon this little restaurant by chance and were absolutely delighted. My husband had a rump steak that couldn't have been better. Kudos to the chef! The other dishes were also high-quality and delicious. The staff is incredibly friendly and clearly knows their craft. We'll definitely be back.

The atmosphere was lovely. Unfortunately, the price and the food didn't match up. The schnitzel was awful, and charging so much for it was unacceptable. Even the schnitzel I had at school tasted better... The service was also incredibly slow, even though the place was practically empty.

The atmosphere is great, the staff were attentive and friendly, but seemed a bit overwhelmed as the restaurant was full. The food could definitely be better, but the kitchen was probably struggling with a larger group. Instead of steakhouse fries, we got cheap, thin fries that were also overcooked. This isn't meant to be a complaint, just constructive criticism; we'll still come back and give it another chance with a smaller group.

After our performance of "Aladdin and the Magic Lamp" at the Chemnitz City Hall, we wanted to grab a nice bite to eat. Through TripAdvisor and Google searches, we stumbled upon KostBar's cool website and weren't disappointed! The food was excellent, the staff very professional and attentive, despite the stress and the packed house. We were thrilled and will definitely be back when we perform in Chemnitz again! The service was top-notch – especially the lady behind the bar, who was incredibly friendly and attentive, truly lovely. The buffet was simply outstanding, high-quality, and delicious, and absolutely delighted all our guests. The reliable service, including delivery and pickup, also deserves special mention. All in all, highly recommended! 👌 Mr. Naumann and his team impressed us, and we would like to thank them again most sincerely for everything!!

We arrived spontaneously on Saturday evening after 10 pm with a group of 10, and a table was immediately prepared for us. The service was excellent, and so were the drinks.

I was looking forward to a relaxing evening, but unfortunately, I was disappointed. I ordered a glass of red wine, which was listed on the menu as €5. The bill, however, suddenly showed €10. When I inquired, I was told the price was for 0.1 liters – but I was served 0.2 liters without being asked or informed. I find this unacceptable. It would be fair and common courtesy to ask the customer beforehand, instead of surprising them with a double price afterward. Transparency and communication would make a big difference here.

High-quality food. In my opinion, the price was almost too low. The service was very friendly and attentive. We were absolutely delighted. And a big thank you again to the lovely lady from the service team (and the whole team) who gave us such a wonderful evening.

The pleasant environment and very nice staff made a very good first impression on us. The shrimp as an appetizer and the homemade lemonades were very good. Unfortunately, the main courses were not, the liver was a hair more cooked than it should have been, but otherwise quite ok. On the other hand, the Wiener schnitzel was a big disappointment, the meat was not pounded enough, nor salted. The salad was also not very tasty. The price-performance ratio was definitely not very good here overall. It's a shame that such a simple dish spoils the impression.

The Kostbar team literally spoiled us at our wedding. Ordering, coordinating the menu, and communication all went absolutely smoothly. We had no specific ideas, but they were very kindly informed and treated us to house specialties. The delivery was made by two incredibly sweet young ladies, and they were very punctual. They quickly set up the designated table. When it was finally time to feast, everyone was absolutely thrilled. Even the kids, who are usually rather picky, were thrilled. All in all, the value for money was perfect. We will definitely eat there again.

The food was very good, but unfortunately we had to wait over an hour for it. When you're only allowed to stay in a restaurant for two hours, that's a bit inappropriate.

A particularly positive aspect: despite the upscale setting, you immediately feel welcome and well looked after. An unreserved recommendation! Tip: Be sure to make a reservation in advance – due to the Capital of Culture year, every table was occupied, even on a Wednesday evening.

The salad with the steak would have benefited from a bit of dressing. The ambiance was okay. We sat outside. The price/performance ratio was good. We were there on a Thursday, and I had booked a table for 9 P two days earlier by phone to be changed to a table for 6, and I also received a confirmation email. First, upon entering the restaurant, we were rudely informed, and the lady insisted that the table was reserved for 9 people and I hadn't called. That was the first time I was "served." We sat down at the reserved table for 9, which was then converted to a table for 6 in our presence, and we had to move around a few times – in an empty restaurant, mind you. Our stay was limited to 2 hours, even though the restaurant was empty. By the time the food arrived, 45 minutes had already passed. All the dishes were served at the same time, and everything was excellent and tasted great! When we wanted to pay and mentioned that everyone was paying separately, we were told to go to the front of the cash register. So we lined up, like at the bakery, to pay our bills individually. The real kicker was that a €2.00 environmental surcharge was added to the bill because the lady wanted to take her leftovers with her, supposedly for the sustainable packaging. That's all well and good, but that wasn't pointed out beforehand. Otherwise, she certainly wouldn't have taken it. The ambiance is debatable; we found it dark and uncomfortable. All in all, the food was excellent, but the service was a flop.

We were looking for catering for our graduation party and came across KostBar. We received excellent advice, and our requests were met. Delivery and payment went absolutely smoothly. We were very satisfied and can fully recommend KostBar.

Time is precious, but I don't have to waste it waiting for food. I waited 1.5 hours for the main course, then another 0.5 hours for dessert. Both were disappointing in terms of taste. The Wiener Schnitzel was kept warm for too long and was completely flavorless. The crème brûlée was stale and not creamy at all. Too bad, it was a sad evening. I can't recommend KostBar to anyone.

A disappointment this evening - that's the summary in a nutshell! The only precious thing about this evening was the time wasted. The potato risotto tasted good. It just took about 90 minutes from ordering to the time it arrived on the table. There was no indication from the staff that it would take longer today. One excuse was that there was only one appetizer (for a group of six), which delayed it. As an apology, we were allowed to choose a dessert. The crème brûlée was more of a solid mass. Lacking in creaminess. Stale. The espresso we ordered was only brought upon request. Even if some of the staff were perhaps new, the restaurant wasn't completely full, but that's no excuse for such poor service. We weren't the only ones who waited longer than an hour. Unfortunately, I won't be coming back here. There are more pleasant and better alternatives nearby.

Unfortunately, disappointing. We arrived with quite high expectations, as the menu sounded really promising. Unfortunately, this turned into a disappointment. After waiting for over 1.5 hours, the food finally arrived – the Wiener Schnitzel was quite dry and nothing special. The crème brûlée, unfortunately, wasn't a crème, but more of a solid mass. At least they gave it on the house as a small apology. But even the espresso we ordered was forgotten at the end – that was, unfortunately, the culmination of a rather disappointing evening. It's a shame, we would have liked to report something different. Unfortunately, we don't recommend it at this time.

The changing daily specials are simply delicious and very fair in price, regardless of whether they are fish or meat. Great place!!!!! Thank you for the brilliant evening. The dishes impress with their very good quality and top workmanship. We had schnitzel and the delicious goulash. The veal schnitzel is a dream, very tender and fine in taste. A classic that is second to none. Super tasty! Price-performance is unbeatable. Big praise for the great service. A reservation is recommended. I can only agree with the positive reviews and will definitely come back.

We booked the catering service from Kostbar in Chemnitz for our wedding reception. It was amazing! The food was amazing, everyone was full, and everyone enjoyed it. The booking, planning, and execution went incredibly smoothly, and we felt incredibly confident and well-advised. They even exceeded our expectations for the price per person. So, all in all, simply fantastic!

I ordered catering (a Mediterranean buffet) for 30 people. It was delivered on time, was plentiful, and incredibly delicious. All my guests were pleasantly surprised. The price was right, and I'd happily recommend this place.

A restaurant in the heart of Chemnitz. There is also outside seating. The staff was friendly. The wait for drinks and then the subsequent food was very long. Over 45 minutes from ordering to serving. The taste was ok, the 350g steak was very mixed, so a large part was not edible. Price wasn't cheap but still within reason. Will we go again? Probably not...

We made a reservation for two people based on the appealing photos on Maps, which we recommend. It was worth it and we enjoyed it. The food was well presented and the service was pleasant. Engaging and not overly intrusive. We'd be happy to return.

The price is a bit higher, but the taste justifies it! The food is lovingly prepared and well-seasoned. The entire staff is always friendly and always ready to make a joke. The only drawback is that the seating isn't particularly suitable for older people due to the high chairs. It was another lovely visit and I highly recommend it.

Culinary Highlights with a Minor Deduction in the Ambience During our visit to this restaurant, we were treated to culinary delights that impressed both in terms of taste and appearance. Starter The pumpkin and ginger soup was a successful start to the evening. It was attractively presented and boasted a pleasantly fruity flavor. We particularly enjoyed the delicate balance of pumpkin and ginger. Main Course The pan-fried sea bass was a real highlight. Perfectly prepared, the skin was crispy and the meat tender and aromatic. It was served with a fruity aioli that complemented the fish perfectly. The vegetables of cherry tomatoes, potatoes, and green asparagus complemented the dish harmoniously, although the asparagus was a bit tough at the bottom – a minor flaw in an otherwise flawless main course. Both the starter and the main course are highly recommended. Service The staff were extremely friendly and attentive – there really is nothing to complain about here. Ambience The restaurant's decor is stylish and inviting, but the tables were quite close together, which somewhat detracted from the atmosphere. With a little more space, the overall impression could be significantly improved. Conclusion A restaurant visit that impresses above all with its excellent cuisine and outstanding service. Anyone looking for a culinary experience will not be disappointed here – despite some minor flaws in the ambiance. We'd be happy to return!

We ended our Christmas party here. Great food, absolutely delicious and freshly prepared.

We ordered spontaneously and visited the KostBar for the first time. We liked it very much. The restaurant is very nicely decorated. Everything was well coordinated and tasteful. You feel very comfortable here as a guest. Service was also very good. Attentive and quick. The food is really good. Freshly prepared. All four dishes were delicious and stylishly presented on the plates. We will come again.

Unfortunately, compared to 2 years ago, it's no longer as outstanding. We waited a very long time (45 minutes) for the food. Liver was thin and correspondingly dry. No questions asked if everything was OK. After two drinks, no more service was served after 10 p.m. and the restaurant was cleaned up. It was Saturday evening. Unfortunately, the two ladies in service seemed rather unmotivated at times.

It's been 14 days since my visit. I was similarly late with my first meal because they've been open for a while. My mother had already eaten there, under the previous boss, and it was time to go again. If you haven't been there yet, you should definitely go - super nice service (and I work in the industry myself)... the food was also great, well prepared, good portion size, fantastic taste. I would like to see more great restaurants like this... On the other hand, you naturally know where you want to go again. So, just like that evening, praise again to the kitchen and the young lady (thanks for recommending the wine) and her young colleague, who was also able to shine with sympathy. Great team.
