Yesterday at lunchtime. The food and drinks came quickly and were good. Our service was excellent. It was convenient because we still had to catch a boat.

Nine of us ate there at the end of June. Due to the high number of guests, we were informed when ordering that there would be a 60-minute wait. The waitress did a good job, the food was good, but it was quite noisy since we were sitting opposite the kitchen/food counter. Beautiful decor. Great location on the inner harbor. Good value for money.

A very nice location, and everyone who attended the event provided excellent food. I personally had a REAL Wiener Schnitzel. It's rare to find one in a chain restaurant, and it was really, really good. The service was friendly and attentive. The missing star would have been given if we hadn't had to wait 15 minutes for our drinks.

I don't know how to rate this. I've always enjoyed coming here. Today, as always, I asked for a child's portion and was told that the boss didn't want that. So I went to the boss and wanted to explain to him that because of my stomach surgery I can only eat small portions and that it wouldn't be productive to give the rest away. He explained to me that he wouldn't go along with my "way of saving money" and that I should just leave the rest or take it with me. He would only offer smaller portions for children. It's always a bit of a different thing to have to reveal yourself like that, but oh well. Unfortunately, that's the end of the matter; I don't want to deal with such ignorance and unsustainability anymore.

The König Pilsener Wirtshaus at Duisburg's inner harbor impresses with its excellent beer selection – from classic Pilsner to craft beers – and delicious, regionally inspired cuisine. The business is beautifully located in the inner harbor. It has good facilities. The staff is pleasant and friendly. Customer requests are catered to. The food and drinks are freshly prepared and top-quality. The prices are also reasonable.

I can't recommend it... At the restaurant, a maximum of 15% of the tables are occupied. Apparently, reservations for two hours aren't possible. In the inner harbor, it's all just a money-making scheme. Now we're heading to the city center, where MSN is being warmly welcomed.

Delicious and cozy. I ate here on the outdoor terrace in the sunshine and was satisfied. The food seemed fresh and tasted good. The beer selection is excellent, as expected. However, the staff isn't the fastest and a bit reserved, not what you'd expect at a brewery. I would still come back, especially if the weather was nice.

The food was great, with really large portions. However, the service was unfortunately relatively slow. This didn't change even as the restaurant slowly emptied.

Colleagues from the office had organised an excursion to Duisburg. If you want to reserve a table for forty people, that is of course a challenge. In any case, I was able to easily join at the time of 19:00 at which I had been ordered. The entrance door is not easy to find. I myself had not recognised it, I saw colleagues sitting there and looked for the shortest way to get to them; I came across a bar that gave the impression that I had found the entrance for staff and suppliers - as if I would let that stop me. Groups of colleagues who arrived after me also walked past the entrance as standard, sometimes up to three times. The door clearly deserves an upgrade, for example by hanging a sign "WELCOME" or "WILLKOMMEN" (after all, we live in Germany) above it. Everywhere in Germany I see those beautiful white signs with black letters, in the shape of a quarter moon. The staff clearly had difficulty serving this large group. Earlier in the day we had experienced a terrace with a waitress who started by asking everyone her main drink "beer", passing them a list of drinks at the bar, and then making an inventory of the different drinks. The speed of service at the König will improve visibly with some training and coaching by that skilled waitress. After we had our drinks (you can imagine how smoothly that was served) came the feat: taking the order for the food. Seven pages with probably ten dishes per page that sometimes differed by minimal nuances is simply too much. Without having seen the menu I already had a prejudice about what I wanted to eat, which made it easier for me to find my way in this maze. We are going to Germany, there they have schnitzel everywhere; I want it breaded, not pork but chicken, if there is gravy or sauce I want it with glazed boiled potatoes and otherwise fried potatoes, and I like it when it is served with boiled vegetables. The schnitzel is a success. It was much thinner than I had expected, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but the paneer curled around it generously and was (to my taste) a bit too soft due to rising moisture. The fried potatoes were really delicious, perfectly brown and half-crispy fried with the refined taste of a gently fried tasty onion. I got a bowl of salad with mainly iceberg lettuce, generously dressed with white sauce. The service must have missed that I pointed out the one euro more expensive dish with boiled vegetables that was one line lower on the menu. Other relatively well-travelled table companions had also found a main course to their liking. Whether they were ultimately happy with what was served I did not get to experience: when I placed my order around half past seven, I said that I had to leave at half past eight to catch my train home, and I eventually had ten minutes to eat my main course. The kitchen needed the meantime for the starters. Because it had already crystallised that I would not have enough time for that, I passed on that round. The very experienced traveler next to me had arranged several starters for our part of the table; because the choice was too complex, she had basically given some guidelines to the service, with the instruction to ensure that there would be a flow of varied dishes. That flow of dishes came, even though it later turned out that we got the dishes that had been ordered by the table behind me. I noticed that they were exclusively unleavened pizza bases (Turkish style), spread with spicy dairy, and a topping that varied from pineapple pieces (not a great success) to pieces of tuna (was better received). On my bill of 35 centimeters long next to my expected Hefe Weizen of 5.70 euros a Wiener schnitzel of 26.90 euros instead of the ordered schnitzel of 17.90 euros.

The menu needs to be revised. I ordered vegetable stew with rice, but I got a huge plate of rice with vegetable sauce, possibly from a can. The blond waiter on May 18th at 8 p.m. wasn't particularly friendly.

The food was average. We had the cheeseburger. The knives were simply blunt. The bread was a bit dry, and the meat lacked flavor. Still, it was perfectly fine.

I called specifically to order food for pickup. First, the service on the phone was very unfriendly. Then I received the completely wrong meal. And then no one even answered the phone so I could return the food and pick up the ordered food. I'm very dissatisfied.

Pub but modern, delicious food, solid service

The salad is very tasty and the portions are generous. A suggestion for improvement would be whole grain bread instead of baguette with the salad. The service is super slow. Waiting over 20 minutes for a salad during your lunch break isn't nice. If I then tell the waitress that I would like to pay, it's not nice to wait another 10 minutes because she continues to walk from table to table. I finally went in to pay. Unfortunately, the restaurant is no longer an option for me for further lunch breaks. You can only eat well there with a lot of time and patience. By the way, when I ordered the salad there was hardly anything going on there. 🙄 I involuntarily took a lunch break of over an hour, which wasn't planned!

Nice restaurant, unfortunately no waiters (5 in number) were interested in greeting us or assigning us a table. -Went back and had a delicious meal somewhere else. It's good that there are enough alternatives in the inner harbor.

Apart from the food, nothing works here without very long waiting times, which are so long that it is unreasonable.

Were there for the first time and left with a good feeling. The menu is quite classic and “home-style” enough to work in a pub, but still has enough options for a certain twist. The vegetarian and vegan options are really great too! The only tip: maybe change your straws. Unfortunately, after a few minutes they were so soft that they gave up the ghost. :-) The view is great (we sat outside by the water), the shop and the sanitary facilities are well maintained and decorated quite coolly, prices are okay! The staff was super friendly and accommodating. We'd love to come back!

Why are recessions that were not negative but neutral deleted here? My recession was deleted using the automatic agent function. Are only positive things tolerated here? Food was good, the place is good, but the staff was absolutely listless and we had to wait a long time and were served unfriendly. Probably extremely stressed staff.

We were lucky to get a table spontaneously, the restaurant is very busy. Reservations make sense! The food and service were great despite the full house!

Unfortunately our visit was on April 5th. from around 2 p.m. a bitter disappointment. The store was very busy, which certainly contributed to delays, but waiting over 1.5 hours for food is still unacceptable. When the food finally came, it was already cold because it had probably been served for far too long. Paying was also a test of patience: we had to wait more than 20 minutes and remind the waiter several times. He also appeared to be unfriendly and not trying hard, which made the already disappointing visit even more unpleasant. With all due respect for a busy operation, this is not the way to treat guests. We won't be coming back.

I was with friends at the König Pilsener Wirtshaus in Duisburg on April 5th, 2025 (at lunchtime) - and we will definitely never come back!!! We had to wait a long time for our food, even though the restaurant wasn't very busy. When it finally came, my order was already cold. After asking to get the cold food again, I had to wait another 20-25 minutes. The result: I ended up sitting alone at the table and eating while everyone else had long since finished. But that's not enough. We also had to wait forever to pay. When we asked the waiter about it again, he replied bluntly, “Yes, then you’ll just have to wait.” An unnecessary discussion followed in which he made it clear to us that he didn't care how long we had to wait. After paying there was neither a “thank you” nor a “goodbye”. This lunch was a complete disappointment for us - poor service, unfriendly (and above all overwhelmed) staff and an unacceptable waiting time. We're definitely not coming back.

Sunny weather? Are you looking forward to drinking one or two freshly tapped Köpi outside? Then bring your time. Because the staff is constantly understaffed. The service takes accordingly. Very sad! I have experienced it several times that guests have left because no waiter came.

The brewery itself is great, the location is fantastic. Unfortunately, the service has been rather unsatisfactory for years. Especially outside, it takes a long time for a waiter to take your order. It's quite annoying, especially if you just want a drink. Unfortunately, nothing has changed... completely incomprehensible.

Overall a nice brewery. Staff is very nice. Could have asked for drinks more often. Small drawback, there could be seat cushions on the high tables. It's uncomfortable on the wooden benches if you sit for a long time.

Meine Kollegen waren zufrieden mit ihrem Essen, ich leider gar nicht... Meine Kollegen hatten Schnitzel, Nudeln, Burger und andere Hauptgerichte. Als Vegetarier fragte ich, was zu empfehlen sei, da ich zwischen zwei vegetarischen/veganen Gerichten geschwankt habe. Der Kellner empfahl mir das vergangene Schnitzel, welches gut sei. Es war leider überhaupt nicht gut. Schon als es an den Tisch gebracht wurde, sagten meine Kollegen, dass es trocken und nicht sehr einladend aussehe. Leider war es das auch. Die Pommes waren in Ordnung, aber die veganen Schnitzel war trocken und schmeckte nach nichts. Wenn ein Kellner nicht weiß, was gut ist, finde ich es in Ordnung, wenn das kommuniziert wird. Aber wenn das das beste vegetarischer/vegane Gericht war, dann sollte hier dringend etwas verbessert werden. Die Auswahl an Getränken bzw. Bier war gut.

Das Essen war mal wieder sehr gut gewesen es lohnt sich immer wieder hinzugehen das Personal ist klasse.

Most of the food was okay. However, I had ordered a potato soup as a starter, which according to the menu was to be served with Mettenden and vegetables. However, the deeper I dug in, the clearer it became that there were no Metttenden in the soup at all, just carrots. I then complained to the waitress and she in turn wanted to forward it accordingly. When we paid, I was really amazed at the building blocks. On the one hand, I asked for the invoice, which then had to be printed first. I thought these days it has to be presented without asking if the cash register is not open, but oh well... In any case, the Köpis was so bold as to charge me the entire amount for the soup, even though the most expensive thing was probably missing from the soup - the Mettenden. So instead of automatically reducing the price after the complaint or serving a drink for free (or whatever) I grudgingly left. So that definitely needs to be worked on!! After all, it was not for nothing that I contacted the staff and complained. If in doubt, this is of course a lucrative scam.

We often go to the pub, sometimes just to drink coffee. We really like it there and would like to mention an employee. Tim is super nice, always friendly and very accommodating. Great employee! Jutta Lauer

A nice evening with friends and a meal with slight room for improvement. At first glance the plates look great, unfortunately some salt and spices are missing. In addition, the burger didn't come out of the kitchen quite hot. Service nice and attentive. Even though the store was really full on Friday... prices were reasonable.

A very nice, cozy place to relax, rustic and simple with a Ruhrpottsnauze. After I passed my master's examination, I went there with a colleague and not for the last time!!

Modern, stylish and down-to-earth. Steak and schnitzel are very tasty here. Special requests are also absolutely no problem. you'll be happy to come back. And in summer you can even sit outside.

Our visit to the inn today was, as usual, extremely satisfactory. The atmosphere, food and service were first class as always. Unfortunately, the positive impression was marred by a single guest who made unjustified and loud comments to the staff on several occasions. This guest also wrote a review under the name “Sjjs Snkskd,” which is what motivated me to share my own experience in the first place. The name alone makes it clear that there is a lack of seriousness. However, the criticism from the guest in question was not only destructive, but also completely inappropriate and below the belt. A particularly unpleasant incident occurred when the guest insulted the staff about the delivery time of a burger. As we noticed, the guest himself requested that the burger be served together with the schnitzels that he also ordered. It's completely understandable that this takes a little longer - after all, several schnitzels take time. In the meantime, the wrong burger ended up on the table, which wasn't surprising given the pressure the guest was putting on the waitress. It seemed as if he lacked any understanding of what goes on in a restaurant. Other guests also noticed the situation and even offered to call the police - a clear sign of how inappropriate the guest's behavior was. The same customer later returned to the restaurant to demand his money back for an allegedly uneaten second burger. The waiters were visibly surprised because the plate had already been cleared - probably by the guest himself. In addition, he refused to pay for sauces that had obviously been consumed. Whether this was an attempt to gain unfair advantage remains unclear. In such situations, it is important to remember that mutual respect is the basis of any good relationship. The oft-quoted sentence “The customer is king” should not be understood as a license for disrespectful or abusive behavior. Respectful interaction only works at eye level - for both the guests and the staff. A little self-criticism and understanding of what goes on in a restaurant could help avoid such situations. In contrast to this situation, our own experience was entirely positive. We had the same waitress and can only praise her work. The service was attentive and friendly, and we didn't notice any glasses standing around or anything like that in the negative review. It is understandable that the staff behaves more cautiously when faced with such destructive criticism - after all, they are trying to avoid unpleasant situations. I have been coming to the inn regularly for a long time and am always impressed by the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff. The waiters are always attentive and strive to ensure that all guests have a pleasant time. My thanks go to the entire team, who remain professional despite such difficult guests. I will continue to enjoy coming here and recommend the inn!

Was there today with my family of five people. We had reserved a table that had already been missed. When our food came, one meal was a burger that wasn't right. We complained and returned it. The waitress brought a new burger later after some had already eaten. But not the one you ordered, but the wrong one. By now you were so angry that you said, now I don't want to have anyone else. We also had empty glasses the whole time, even though the waitress came to our table several times. We actually just wanted to have a nice evening, but after all the magic we experienced there, we don't feel like going to this store anymore! Only a few other guests were there and the waitresses didn't see the other unclean tables where there were still empty glasses and dishes. We complained about this when paying and asked when we would be able to speak to the boss! Today of all days he went on a winter vacation for 3 weeks, what a coincidence. Later we saw, when we were already gone, that we were still charged for the burger without having eaten one! When I read all the other negative reviews, cheers meal!

Nice restaurant with very friendly service right on the inner harbor. The food is really tasty and you can watch the cooking if you want. This is particularly exciting for the little ones. I've been going there regularly over the years and am always impressed.

We were there with a larger group on a Thursday evening. The place looks nice, cozy. The wait staff was very nice, but had a lot to do and in my opinion were understaffed when a simple drink order takes almost 20 minutes. The food was very tasty. Nobody had anything to complain about. The portions were also plentiful. But the menu could perhaps use a few more typical brewery dishes. The selection of draft beers is also good and offers something for every taste.

You can eat really tasty food here. I can't get the 400g fillet steak out of my head. Friendly and courteous service.

The ambience is really great. The food is also good, but you can't order everything (I didn't really like the schnitzel) The burgers were the best and really delicious! There is a business card from Mon-Fri that we always used (€10.90) Because otherwise I find the prices actually very steep. There is definitely room for improvement in the service. Had dinner at Königs today with 4 people, it was very full for a Wednesday. Service was very friendly and quick, and we didn't have to wait long for the food. Overall, a successful evening, we would love to come back. A big compliment to the friendly service, who was able to smile in a friendly manner even though it was so busy.

A visually appealing restaurant. We can't say anything about the quality of the food because we had to leave even though the restaurant was only 1/3 full. There were only two of us and we weren't allowed to sit at a table for four. We didn't just sit down, we asked proper questions. The problem: there wasn't a free table for two that we could sit at. The time of our visit did not suggest that there would be a short-term rush of other guests. The question about the managing director was also dismissed. It doesn't seem to be desirable for guests to sit there. Five waiters stood around unemployed and then turned their backs to us.

The food is typical pub and delicious. Dishes are beautifully prepared and served hot. Unfortunately, the waiters don't come often to refill drinks. Therefore, you should allow a little time when ordering drinks. Since it is a large restaurant, it can be louder. A little quieter compared to other large restaurants. The “train station hall atmosphere” sends greetings here... In my opinion, there weren't enough wait staff for the number of guests. The service was still nice and friendly. The food was delicious and the portion size was absolutely sufficient (yes, I was hungry...). I thought the price was reasonable. Unfortunately the malt beer is listed in the beer menu, so I overlooked this 😐

I have rarely experienced such bad service. First we sit for 15 minutes in front of our predecessors' table that hasn't been cleared. When a waiter finally comes and starts to clear away, he stops after the first two glasses, leaves his tray with the words "these guests were there before" and disappears for another 5 minutes. Then when he starts serving the people at the next table (who came after us) and the same thing happened, we left. Therefore I can't say anything about the quality of the food and drinks. However, the 1 star is still too much for the service.

The food is super tasty and the menu offers a large selection for meat eaters as well as vegetarians and vegans. In addition, strict attention is paid to allergies upon request, so that you feel well looked after by the entire team! A small deduction in the ambience because it is a little too dark for my standards. Nevertheless, this restaurant is currently sneaking into my top 3. The prices are fair (in my opinion) and there is a large selection of drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. Everyone should also find something to their taste when it comes to the dessert menu. Unfortunately there is no vegan cream there yet. But it is still the perfect place to gather a very diverse eating and drinking community. I recommend reserving a table as it is usually quite busy. This is super easy to do via Google.

The food was average at best… the meat was (unfortunately) very dry and the food overall was quite mildly seasoned. The desert comes three times out of the box, but is outrageously expensive. Service was friendly but quite slow. A rather unimpressive experience.

Once and never again. Wait 2 hours for food, then one dish is still missing. Ultimately the food wasn't a highlight. At least 1 drink was forgotten for EVERY drink order. The service blames the mistakes on the kitchen. NO ONE in this store has even the slightest claim to wanting to make the guest happy! It's sad that there are shops like this and they're still holding on... a very good example of how gastronomy does NOT work.
