On our way home from Cologne, we accidentally ended up in Duisburg and were looking for a restaurant. It was very busy, but the waiter still found us a table. Fantastic! We didn't know what to expect, but the food was absolutely fantastic! And the service was just as good! If we're ever near Duisburg again, we'll definitely go there again. And we'll definitely make a reservation 😁

We went here for dinner and weren't satisfied. Also, this restaurant has reviews deleted, so there are hardly any 1-, 2-, or 3-star reviews. What a shame!

The food, drinks, and service are very good, and the prices are reasonable. Two of us had lunch there on September 26, 2025. The Leberkäse (meatloaf) and schnitzel with French fries and a delicious mushroom sauce were delicious. With dessert and drinks, the price came to under €50. Highly recommended.

Very nice atmosphere. The staff was friendly and the food was good, nothing special. The tables for two people were a joke; you can't arrange anything or anything else. Even after asking, they got a larger one. It's okay to go there once, but nothing more.

We're visiting Duisburg and are eating our way through the inner harbor this week. Unfortunately, things didn't start well today, with the terrace being in the shade early on. It was a shame, but nobody could have helped that. However, it must be said that the waiting times are quite long, even though the place isn't full. It takes a long time for service to arrive at the table, and the beers look like they've been sitting at the bar for too long. The food is ready, not what I expect in a pub. Ready-made fried potatoes, ready-made schnitzel, and somehow I miss the typical dishes when the name "pub" is in the outside. There's a lot of room for improvement here, but the place itself is quite nice.

We were there today and unfortunately won't be back. The service was terrible. We waited 40 minutes just to order drinks, and it took just as long for them to arrive. We were hoping for something different from the food; it tasted strongly of frozen food. We were there for three hours, and the waiter only came to our table twice, and that time only because we called him.

We visited the König Pilsner Wirtshaus at Duisburg's inner harbor and were very disappointed. The service was extremely poor: Upon arrival, we had to wait a long time before anyone even noticed us. After half an hour, we still hadn't been served and hadn't even received a menu. The waitress walked past us several times without showing the slightest interest. It seemed like they simply didn't care about their guests. It's a shame, because the location at the inner harbor is actually great, but this is simply unacceptable.

A very inviting and friendly restaurant. A variety of draft beers and delicious dishes await you here. The beer tasting includes six different draft beers, each of which tastes excellent. The food offers modern German cuisine. We were particularly impressed by the roast suckling pig and the Thai curry. The restaurant is located in the inner harbor. On weekends, you can stroll there and have lunch or take a short break in the restaurant.

I really liked this restaurant. The food was delicious, too. I'd love to come back.

The food was delicious and the portions were generous. My daughter couldn't finish her meal, so we wanted to take it home. They charged us an extra €0.80 for that. Sorry, that's completely unacceptable, and I've never experienced that before.

We were there yesterday with a group of five. The food was really good, the service very friendly and attentive. We had a lovely evening and will definitely be back… that's exactly how it should be 😊 The only thing I find a shame is that you can't make a reservation for outside, as we would have preferred to sit outside in this weather. I understand the problem behind it, but perhaps a compromise could be found 🙏🏼

Good food, and very nice seating

The beer was delicious and the food was decent, and the terrace was lovely. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing: When I wanted to order another round of drinks, the waiter stopped me with his hand and told me to come back later – but he never came. In the end, we had to pay another waiter without being able to order anything else. It's a real shame.

Highly recommended! The food arrived quickly and was incredibly delicious, kudos to the kitchen! The waitresses were friendly, and the drinks, as well as the food, were beautifully presented. I had the roast suckling pig and initially didn't expect much, as my expectations are always very high for this dish, but they were exceeded! The dumplings and ratatouille were also excellent. The cordon bleu and the cheese and leek soup were also great! The location is beautiful, right on the water. I'd go back anytime 😊

After waiting several minutes for a seat, we were rudely shown to our table. The meal was a complete disaster. The schnitzel seemed overcooked, and so was the sauce. The portion wasn't particularly large either. I definitely don't recommend this restaurant.

Schnitzel is always available in chicken or pork versions. Very tasty.

The location is nice and the service is decent. The quality of the food is comparatively poor. Wiener schnitzel with a sticky coating and soggy potatoes. The cooking lacked enthusiasm. The bill was also too high. We won't be returning for dinner.

It's truly astonishing how different a freshly tapped Köpi can taste. In my own experiment, I "worked" my way through every restaurant along the inner harbor and ordered only one Köpi each time. Wirtshaus Duisburg, you won, and not because you were last in line. If you like it, you'll be happy here.

I've always been satisfied with the König Pilsener Wirtshaus in Duisburg. However, we've been very disappointed the last few times. 🥲 The endless wait and the incorrect delivery of orders didn't contribute to a pleasant, relaxing evening. Hopefully, things will improve. We've passed this on to the staff as feedback.

Amazing German food along with quality beers and desserts. Staff can sometimes be a miss(slow & confused about their own menu), but in most of my visits, staff is quite professional and fast. They have quite a beautiful indoor seating atmosphere and also a nice outdoor seating with an amazing view of the waters.

The food was plentiful and delicious, and the beer selection was great. A thoroughly enjoyable evening.

We were well received in a standard and friendly setting. My Riesling was good. My Schnitzel was ok and the Pinot Noir - from Kaiserstuhl - was very nice!

I'm actually a regular customer, but what I experienced about 45 minutes ago shocked me: There were three of us sitting outside – the third row of tables near the small staircase. After waiting for ten minutes, a blonde waitress came and told us that there would be no service at those seats, or rather, only the first and second rows would be served. There was a free table less than 1.5 meters away, but the waitress simply left. Since we didn't feel like waiting another ten minutes, we left. The area where we were sitting wasn't even cordoned off or otherwise marked. We wouldn't tolerate such rude and arrogant behavior, and now we're sitting diagonally across the table at the new competition.

Nice place, the food is certainly not spectacular, and the service is a bit slow. (It would also be nice if the waiters could speak multiple languages.)

Positive: Good location, and service, although a bit chaotic, was also friendly and good. Converse: Most importantly... the food. Unfortunately, it wasn't as good as expected. We didn't like the schnitzel, and even the fries (and you can't go wrong with that) were far from a highlight. It's a shame, I would have liked to come more often otherwise.

Actually, it's great... delicious food, great atmosphere, and the staff are actually very friendly. Why deduct a star? If the waitress at the next table spills malt beer on the tray while serving and it spills all over my wife's clothes, and then only gives us napkins, that's not okay. She mumbled an apology. We wanted to go somewhere else, but that was resolved, and we were allowed to drive back to Xanten. The white top was covered in yellow-brown stains...

Good location, a variety of beers, not just Königs Pilsener. The portions are generous.

Good food in a pleasant environment with friendly service

Unfortunately, we were very dissatisfied with the service. Even our first drink order took forever, and after that, we sat there for a long time without the opportunity to reorder. We couldn't order our food at the same time as our drinks – and when it finally arrived, we had waited almost an hour and a half. When we asked, we received no response as to how long it would take. Unfortunately, this isn't an isolated incident; it happens all the time. The place was full, which is understandable – but when you, as a guest, aren't informed or taken away, it's simply disappointing. The food is generally delicious, but the extremely long wait times unfortunately make this a visit not worth recommending.

Nine of us ate there at the end of June. Due to the high number of guests, we were informed when ordering that there would be a 60-minute wait. The waitress did a good job, the food was good, but it was quite noisy since we were sitting opposite the kitchen/food counter. Beautiful decor. Great location on the inner harbor. Good value for money.

A very nice location, and everyone who attended the event provided excellent food. I personally had a REAL Wiener Schnitzel. It's rare to find one in a chain restaurant, and it was really, really good. The service was friendly and attentive. The missing star would have been given if we hadn't had to wait 15 minutes for our drinks.

I don't know how to rate this. I've always enjoyed coming here. Today, as always, I asked for a child's portion and was told that the boss didn't want that. So I went to the boss and wanted to explain to him that because of my stomach surgery I can only eat small portions and that it wouldn't be productive to give the rest away. He explained to me that he wouldn't go along with my "way of saving money" and that I should just leave the rest or take it with me. He would only offer smaller portions for children. It's always a bit of a different thing to have to reveal yourself like that, but oh well. Unfortunately, that's the end of the matter; I don't want to deal with such ignorance and unsustainability anymore.

The König Pilsener Wirtshaus at Duisburg's inner harbor impresses with its excellent beer selection – from classic Pilsner to craft beers – and delicious, regionally inspired cuisine. The spacious outdoor terrace on the promenade offers a beautiful view of the Stadtwerke Tower and the town hall – ideal for relaxing hours with food and drinks in a maritime atmosphere. Highly recommended!

The business is beautifully located in the inner harbor. It has good facilities. The staff is pleasant and friendly. Customer requests are catered to. The food and drinks are freshly prepared and top-quality. The prices are also reasonable.

Delicious and cozy. I ate here on the outdoor terrace in the sunshine and was satisfied. The food seemed fresh and tasted good. The beer selection is excellent, as expected. However, the staff isn't the fastest and a bit reserved, not what you'd expect at a brewery. I would still come back, especially if the weather was nice.

I can't recommend it... At the restaurant, a maximum of 15% of the tables are occupied. Apparently, reservations for two hours aren't possible. In the inner harbor, it's all just a money-making scheme. Now we're heading to the city center, where MSN is being warmly welcomed.

A table with its own beer tap—what more could you want? Top-notch service, delicious food, and all at reasonable prices. The location in the inner harbor is also top-notch—definitely recommended for a celebration or just for fun.

The food was great, with really large portions. However, the service was unfortunately relatively slow. This didn't change even as the restaurant slowly emptied.

Colleagues from the office had organised an excursion to Duisburg. If you want to reserve a table for forty people, that is of course a challenge. In any case, I was able to easily join at the time of 19:00 at which I had been ordered. The entrance door is not easy to find. I myself had not recognised it, I saw colleagues sitting there and looked for the shortest way to get to them; I came across a bar that gave the impression that I had found the entrance for staff and suppliers - as if I would let that stop me. Groups of colleagues who arrived after me also walked past the entrance as standard, sometimes up to three times. The door clearly deserves an upgrade, for example by hanging a sign "WELCOME" or "WILLKOMMEN" (after all, we live in Germany) above it. Everywhere in Germany I see those beautiful white signs with black letters, in the shape of a quarter moon. The staff clearly had difficulty serving this large group. Earlier in the day we had experienced a terrace with a waitress who started by asking everyone her main drink "beer", passing them a list of drinks at the bar, and then making an inventory of the different drinks. The speed of service at the König will improve visibly with some training and coaching by that skilled waitress. After we had our drinks (you can imagine how smoothly that was served) came the feat: taking the order for the food. Seven pages with probably ten dishes per page that sometimes differed by minimal nuances is simply too much. Without having seen the menu I already had a prejudice about what I wanted to eat, which made it easier for me to find my way in this maze. We are going to Germany, there they have schnitzel everywhere; I want it breaded, not pork but chicken, if there is gravy or sauce I want it with glazed boiled potatoes and otherwise fried potatoes, and I like it when it is served with boiled vegetables. The schnitzel is a success. It was much thinner than I had expected, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but the paneer curled around it generously and was (to my taste) a bit too soft due to rising moisture. The fried potatoes were really delicious, perfectly brown and half-crispy fried with the refined taste of a gently fried tasty onion. I got a bowl of salad with mainly iceberg lettuce, generously dressed with white sauce. The service must have missed that I pointed out the one euro more expensive dish with boiled vegetables that was one line lower on the menu. Other relatively well-travelled table companions had also found a main course to their liking. Whether they were ultimately happy with what was served I did not get to experience: when I placed my order around half past seven, I said that I had to leave at half past eight to catch my train home, and I eventually had ten minutes to eat my main course. The kitchen needed the meantime for the starters. Because it had already crystallised that I would not have enough time for that, I passed on that round. The very experienced traveler next to me had arranged several starters for our part of the table; because the choice was too complex, she had basically given some guidelines to the service, with the instruction to ensure that there would be a flow of varied dishes. That flow of dishes came, even though it later turned out that we got the dishes that had been ordered by the table behind me. I noticed that they were exclusively unleavened pizza bases (Turkish style), spread with spicy dairy, and a topping that varied from pineapple pieces (not a great success) to pieces of tuna (was better received). On my bill of 35 centimeters long next to my expected Hefe Weizen of 5.70 euros a Wiener schnitzel of 26.90 euros instead of the ordered schnitzel of 17.90 euros.

Visited for lunch. Good food, nice location. Just one small complaint about the waitress who seemed like she was bothering her. Would definitely do it again.

The menu needs to be revised. I ordered vegetable stew with rice, but I got a huge plate of rice with vegetable sauce, possibly from a can. The blond waiter on May 18th at 8 p.m. wasn't particularly friendly.

I called specifically to order food for pickup. First, the service on the phone was very unfriendly. Then I received the completely wrong meal. And then no one even answered the phone so I could return the food and pick up the ordered food. I'm very dissatisfied.

The food was average. We had the cheeseburger. The knives were simply blunt. The bread was a bit dry, and the meat lacked flavor. Still, it was perfectly fine.

The salad is very tasty and the portions are generous. A suggestion for improvement would be whole grain bread instead of baguette with the salad. The service is super slow. Waiting over 20 minutes for a salad during your lunch break isn't nice. If I then tell the waitress that I would like to pay, it's not nice to wait another 10 minutes because she continues to walk from table to table. I finally went in to pay. Unfortunately, the restaurant is no longer an option for me for further lunch breaks. You can only eat well there with a lot of time and patience. By the way, when I ordered the salad there was hardly anything going on there. 🙄 I involuntarily took a lunch break of over an hour, which wasn't planned!

Apart from the food, nothing works here without very long waiting times, which are so long that it is unreasonable.

Nice restaurant, unfortunately no waiters (5 in number) were interested in greeting us or assigning us a table. -Went back and had a delicious meal somewhere else. It's good that there are enough alternatives in the inner harbor.

Were there for the first time and left with a good feeling. The menu is quite classic and “home-style” enough to work in a pub, but still has enough options for a certain twist. The vegetarian and vegan options are really great too! The only tip: maybe change your straws. Unfortunately, after a few minutes they were so soft that they gave up the ghost. :-) The view is great (we sat outside by the water), the shop and the sanitary facilities are well maintained and decorated quite coolly, prices are okay! The staff was super friendly and accommodating. We'd love to come back!

Food was good, the place is good, but the staff was absolutely listless and we had to wait a long time and were served unfriendly. Probably extremely stressed staff.

I was with friends at the König Pilsener Wirtshaus in Duisburg on April 5th, 2025 (at lunchtime) - and we will definitely never come back!!! We had to wait a long time for our food, even though the restaurant wasn't very busy. When it finally came, my order was already cold. After asking to get the cold food again, I had to wait another 20-25 minutes. The result: I ended up sitting alone at the table and eating while everyone else had long since finished. But that's not enough. We also had to wait forever to pay. When we asked the waiter about it again, he replied bluntly, “Yes, then you’ll just have to wait.” An unnecessary discussion followed in which he made it clear to us that he didn't care how long we had to wait. After paying there was neither a “thank you” nor a “goodbye”. This lunch was a complete disappointment for us - poor service, unfriendly (and above all overwhelmed) staff and an unacceptable waiting time. We're definitely not coming back.

Unfortunately our visit was on April 5th. from around 2 p.m. a bitter disappointment. The store was very busy, which certainly contributed to delays, but waiting over 1.5 hours for food is still unacceptable. When the food finally came, it was already cold because it had probably been served for far too long. Paying was also a test of patience: we had to wait more than 20 minutes and remind the waiter several times. He also appeared to be unfriendly and not trying hard, which made the already disappointing visit even more unpleasant. With all due respect for a busy operation, this is not the way to treat guests. We won't be coming back.

Real Duisburg harbor water in a nice atmosphere.

The brewery itself is great, the location is fantastic. Unfortunately, the service has been rather unsatisfactory for years. Especially outside, it takes a long time for a waiter to take your order. It's quite annoying, especially if you just want a drink. Unfortunately, nothing has changed... completely incomprehensible.

Sunny weather? Are you looking forward to drinking one or two freshly tapped Köpi outside? Then bring your time. Because the staff is constantly understaffed. The service takes accordingly. Very sad! I have experienced it several times that guests have left because no waiter came.

Overall a nice brewery. Staff is very nice. Could have asked for drinks more often. Small drawback, there could be seat cushions on the high tables. It's uncomfortable on the wooden benches if you sit for a long time.

Meine Kollegen waren zufrieden mit ihrem Essen, ich leider gar nicht... Meine Kollegen hatten Schnitzel, Nudeln, Burger und andere Hauptgerichte. Als Vegetarier fragte ich, was zu empfehlen sei, da ich zwischen zwei vegetarischen/veganen Gerichten geschwankt habe. Der Kellner empfahl mir das vergangene Schnitzel, welches gut sei. Es war leider überhaupt nicht gut. Schon als es an den Tisch gebracht wurde, sagten meine Kollegen, dass es trocken und nicht sehr einladend aussehe. Leider war es das auch. Die Pommes waren in Ordnung, aber die veganen Schnitzel war trocken und schmeckte nach nichts. Wenn ein Kellner nicht weiß, was gut ist, finde ich es in Ordnung, wenn das kommuniziert wird. Aber wenn das das beste vegetarischer/vegane Gericht war, dann sollte hier dringend etwas verbessert werden. Die Auswahl an Getränken bzw. Bier war gut.
