KOKIO Berlin in Berlin

I’ve been coming here for years now and the food has remained delicious. I was also happy to see that the restaurant has expanded a bit, as it was always packed and had a huge waitlist. Now with the new space I hope that wont happen as much anymore (although the restaurant is so popular I can see it happen still) . I went there again last week and the food and service were still excellent. The fries and the chicken were great and I was happy to see them have new menu items. If those I got the gimmari and that was great too. I regard this as the best Korean fried chicken in Berlin and most everyone I know agrees. Definitely recommend a visit.

Love this place, perfectly done chicken, now in a bigger venue, love it!

The food is delicious, but the service was unfortunately unfriendly and downright mean. When I was there alone, the service was actually quite nice. But a friend of mine who is Arabic told me that he was always treated badly there. I didn't believe it until we went there together. We were served rudely and downright meanly for no reason. We behaved completely normally. It's strange that that doesn't happen when I'm alone. If your job is in service, you should treat all guests equally kindly, and if you don't want to do that, then maybe you should do something else.

It was amazing and soy sauce wasabi was especially good! Chilli sauce is authentic although it's less salty and less garlic flavoured compared to the Korean local taste. I missed it so much and I appreciated the athentic food here. Thanks for the quality food!

The Korean fried chicken with Super Spicy and Soy Garlic sauce was absolutely delicious—the best I’ve ever had! Special mention to the flavorful and comforting veg noodle soup, which was equally amazing. The ambience and vibe of the place were great, making the experience even better. Highly recommend!

Best Korean fried chicken I've ever had in Germany! The chicken is nice and juicy on the inside and super crispy on the outside. As an alternative there is also fried tofu! The selection of sauces is great You should be prepared to wait because the store is quite small but the crowds are high.

this is probably my partners favorite restaurant in Berlin. We come at least 2x a month and every time the food, service, quality has been very consistent. Staff is also really warm and friendly so it creates a very nice atmosphere. They also move very fast so even if there's a wait, you're not waiting for too long. 10/10

Amazing, must visit when in Berlin!!!

This is the Chinese review you are looking for. The signature fried chicken focuses on the crispiness of the thin skin. The chicken is very solid and juicy. I believe they marinated it very skillfully. Basically, it looks heavy but is actually very refreshing and not too sweet. It is different from the greasy bomb of American fried chicken. I recommend this place and it’s very comfortable to eat.

It is simply a must for anyone who likes Korean chicken. The quality of the food has not only maintained its quality after all these years, but it has also improved. The staff are always friendly and keep an eye on everything (because it can be quite busy and turbulent).

After a long while, I visited the new location. Much better since it has more space. Taste is as always good.

2025 Update: i tried their gol bang yii(not sure about the name). So good. 💯 dduk bbok ggi is good too. Chicken quality is still the same, sometime good, sometime bad. 2022: I like here a lot. One problem is, taste is not always good, sometimes good sometime bad. Having problem to maintain the taste. Hope you guys are working on that matter.

The chicken and the sauces that go with it taste very tasty. We also had sticky rice cake as a topping and it was really great. I just find the prices relatively too expensive.

Absolutely delicious food! We had the Boneless for 2, Veggie Dumplings, Kimchi and O-I-MuChim. Everything was very tasty and came to the table quickly. The staff was also very friendly.

The food is very good, we live nearby and get something often. But as a local resident, I find the Kokio garbage around the restaurant totally disgusting! I wonder why the guests can't dispose of their garbage, but just throw it on the street? Unfortunately, this is an increasing Berlin problem. But the Kokio owners also have responsibility. You would have to take out the garbage and set up trash cans. Also in your own interest: If it stays like this, there will soon be even more rats in the neighborhood and around the restaurant.

I always order take out because the restaurant is super tiny. Although they have now moved to a different local (next door) that has more space. The boneless with spicy chilly is just great. Sweet Chili is also good. Or without sauce. The fries are meh.

French fries are hard to eat The chicken is marinated like a dragon, it's like eating zombie meat Without comparison, I would never think that "Angry Chicken" is actually quite delicious🌚 Because of the social activities, I have no recollection of having eaten junk food here. It turns out that I had been trapped last year. This food is really hard to eat! The chicken was thick with heavy MSG and flour, the fries were not even as good as the cheapest frozen fries sold in supermarkets, and they were left for so long that they looked like food waste. Because I ordered a glass of sparkling wine at a social event and the menu said it was carbonated, but when I got it, there was no carbonated wine. It was obviously garbage that had been left there for a long time. The food and drinks were terrible, and even the waiters ignored me or pretended I wasn't there or couldn't hear anything I said, so they just listened to what the Germans said. I ordered two and one was missing, and I ordered Coke and nothing was left out, that's really cool. If nothing unexpected happens, there will be no tourists coming to such a remote place to eat, so Westerners say it is a success.

Kokio is definitely one of the best spots for Korean Fried Chicken in Berlin 😋 The Chicken Boneless were crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and generously portioned. The pickled side dishes were also well balanced and complemented the taste of the dish.

The soy wasabi flavor is truly delicious!! Personally, sweet potato fries are much more delicious than gamfries, K Chicken is the best!!!

We ordered via Uber Eats and chose the main menu. Once Boneless Soy Garlic and then Chicken Wings Soy Wasabi. The soy garlic was very tasty, but in my opinion the soy wasabi wings were way too heavy on wasabi - you really only tasted wasabi. Unfortunately, the fries that came with it were the worst I've ever eaten.

Kokio has been one of our favorite restaurants in Berlin for the last few years. However, unfortunately, the quality and the taste has been going down regularly for almost a year. The chicken is not as tender as it used to be. The amount of batter seems to have increased, this causes it to separate from the chicken and we are left with many pieces of crust at the end of the meal. This didn't happen before. Most importantly, the flavor and the spicyness of the spicy sauce has decreased a lot. It used to be really mouth watering & so hot it made my nose run. Now it is just bland. I hope the managers take this review seriously & resolve the issues mentioned. Then I will happily revise this review. It is meant to be a warning anyway.

I went to eat Korean chicken with an (old) Berliner. Because there are so many people, waiting is necessary. It tastes almost similar to what you get in Korea. French fries are just frozen fries The interior has become bigger after remodeling. They say it has become clean. Friendly young female staff It was delicious Willing to visit again 🙆‍♀️

Everything was fine and i love that you have mayonaise and ketchup at your table but i would be nice to have a bit more variation in the sauces. But i also assume it wouldn't be authentically korean style fried chicken anymore so i get it.

Absolutely delicious Korean Fried Chicken. New restaurant much bigger than the old Kokio next door. It's best to make a reservation, otherwise there will be a long queue.

The food itself is good and the prices are appropriate. Unfortunately my chicken was a bit tough, which is why I have to deduct a star. The service is quite good so far. The location itself isn't particularly great. The shop is much too small, so you sometimes have to wait outside. In addition, you are only allowed to stay for 90 minutes, which is why the seat can actually only be used for a meal and nothing more. Overall, I only give 4 stars because the idea of ​​the restaurant itself is convincing. Nevertheless, you should definitely enlarge the search!

Quality of the food went down since I was first there, at the same the the price went up in almost 50%. The service was ice cold and I did not feel welcome at all. Probably my last time there!

I tried the Chicken Bites without bones (sweet chilli). The taste was just ok, and the portion was big. Price was also a bit more expensive than I would have expected.

You had to wait in line a bit but the food was very tasty. I also liked the ambience and the price was actually good.

This is the best Korean fried chicken spot in Berlin! I ordered two types of chicken, one boneless and one with bones, and both were absolutely delicious! The exterior was perfectly crispy, while the inside remained juicy and tender, the seasoning soaked into the meat 😋 The portion sizes are quite generous, and I think one serving is more than enough to fill you up. Besides the amazing food, the service here was excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself is quite small and always busy, but it’s absolutely worth a visit!

One of the best addresses for Korean Fried Chicken in Berlin! The boneless chicken pieces were crispy, large and nice and juicy. The pickled side dishes that came with it were also very good. The fries could be better though. They were a little limp when they were served to us.

Super nice conditions and mega delicious chicken.

Sadly always full, but hhe pick up order works amazingly good (15-20min max). The chicken is super crispy outside and soft inside. I would recommend to take the sauces on the side as they can be quite spicy. Very friendly and welcomong staff. Highly recommended, especially with a korean beer.

Pretty authentic (especially for Korean food in Europe), nice staff, but a bit over-priced, especially in terms of drinks. Also, be ready to wait a while to get seats as there’s often a queue.

We always used Kokio Chicken, it was good, but what we got today was really spoiled and tasted really bad. Unfortunately the quality has deteriorated.

One of our favorite places in all of Berlin. The food is really incredibly good, the only drawback is the waiting times and the size of the place. Unfortunately, you sit very close to the other guests, so you often can't hear the person opposite at normal volume. Despite this, highly recommended

This is the best Korean Fried Chicken I have had in Berlin. Really Really tasty.. The service is also good. The only problem is there is very little space in the restaurant and you might have to wait for 30 minutes to get in. But its worth the wait. :)

The place smells bad. The smell hit me once I got in, just terrible. It was very cold, my feet got frozen (the heater was most likely switched off). The sauce is too sweet for my taste (I had spicy and garlic). The fries are not fresh! I honestly wouldn’t pay 2€ for these fries. The only good thing about this place were the toilets, very nice. Amazing choice of lights and plants. For the money I paid not worth it at all.

Unfortunately, everything was disappointing. The moment I walked in, I was hit by a strong, unpleasant smell. On top of that, it was freezing inside. The food didn’t make up for it either. the fries were stale. It’s too pricey for what you get. Overhyped!

The food came in a short time and was very tasty, it was full of flavors and spices which made the food very very delicious. In addition, the toilet has been designed very cleanly and creatively.

I would even give it 6 stars if I could. Great food, the best chicken (especially Korean Fried Chicken) in all of Berlin. The shop is a bit smaller but still very cozy, but be prepared for a slightly longer queue. €27.50 for 2 people for around 12 large pieces of chicken and fries is more than fair. My girlfriend and I were definitely full. More than just sweetened my 6 months in Berlin.

Only place that is serving the authentic Korean Fried Chicken (serving the whole chicken). This place is maybe the closest to the fried chicken you get in Korea. The restaurant gets packed and does walk-in only during dinner time. So better be aware.

Kokio is my go to place when I'm craving Korean fried chicken. I always get chicken with bone since it's usually more juicy than boneless. The sauces are great, the crunch is there and if you order banana makgeolli on the side it's a perfect meal. The staff is super friendly and helpfull. They also speak English. Even though the restaurant is pretty small and usually full of people, it weirdly doesn't feel crowded. Another plus is that Kokio doesn't reserve tables but they have a great system where you place your name outside if the restaurant is full and they will let you in when a table is available ✨

The quality just isn't the same. The fried chicken is a hit or miss and the portion sizes are not consistent which for the price is unacceptable. However the beef dumpling is delicious so two stars for that.

The fried chickens here are to die for! Good service. You’ll probably have to wait about 30-45 minutes if you go in peak times, but it’s all worth it.

The three of us were in front of the store on a Saturday evening and there was already a line waiting outside. You could sign up on a waiting list in front of the door. After about 30 minutes we got a table inside. We ate the boneless chicken menu for 3 people. You could choose 3 different marinades and there were fries on the side. We all enjoyed it very much. Highly recommended.

This is the place with the absolute best chicken wings I have ever tasted in my life! The sauces are incredibly tasty and varied, simply perfect. The potatoes are also excellent and the rice balls are a real discovery. But the best part is the kimchi - it's just unrealistically delicious, exactly as it should be. The drinks go perfectly with it and round off the experience. The only downside, like many popular places, is the long wait, especially if you want to sit inside. So if you don't want to waste a lot of time, I recommend ordering it to go and eating it somewhere else, maybe in the park or in the car if the weather permits. However, if you want to eat inside, be aware that there are rarely any free seats as the place is really popular and cool. But overall it's definitely a place to visit, even if you have to wait a bit!

I think it is so far the best Korean chicken in town. We had boneless chicken as original, soy garlic, sweet chili and extra sauce spicy sour. Very delicious and I have seen a lot of local Korean here as well. The service is very nice.

The food is delicious, but the rest... if there are three of you, you'll only get a table after the earth has rotated 10 times. Therefore, if you absolutely want to come with three people, bring a tent and spend the night in front of the shop.

Maybe the best Korean fried chicken in Town and pleasant staff. Some people say that the best one is with bones, but I prefer a boneless. Basically the best setup for 2 people is to take 1 portion of chicken (it is pretty big) and dumplings or another dish of your choice. If you are heading there for the first, don't forget to put your name on the waiting list (located near the entrance door).

The shop is quite small. If you don't have a reservation (only for 4 people and only at certain times) you have to sign up on a list, wait in front of it and then be called. There were about 6 people in front of us and we had to wait 15 minutes. The food was great!!! Only card payment possible. There is a toilet.

The food is still delicious; succulent chicken, wonderful flavour, and lightening fast service. Payment is by card only. Original Review (January 2020): To be reasonably sure you will even get a seat in this very popular restaurant, you will need to show up early. The chicken is excellent: juicy, tasty, and succulent. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. I had a single serving of chicken (and the portion was very generous), fries, pickled daikon, and two sides - kimchi and gyoza (deep fried dumplings that were delicious). Everything was good. The daikon had a wonderful light taste and was very fresh. The kimchi was also light, crunchy with lots of flavour but with none of that sour taste you sometimes get. The chicken...crunchy, moist, succulent and coated with a soy-wasabi sauce. The sauce gave the chicken a bold and spicy taste, but not too much, that left slight hit of wasabi as an aftertaste. I love complex flavours that linger the way that this chicken did. Basically everything in the meal worked together to produce a real feast of flavours.

It was so delicious. There are many different types of chicken sauce, and they are all unique and very delicious. The seasoned whelk is also great. The whelk was so big.

The food is a 10 out of 10. We waited outside and then the super nice employee Kyung brought us in so we could wait in the warmth and brought us some tea to warm up, such an attentive and lovely employee! I would come back just because of him but the food is also delicious so win win! 감사합니다 Kyung!!

Great place in itself! But the waiting time, in winter, is horror. It's really cold (and it's been a while) but luckily there are 2 heating lanterns. There were two of me here and don't forget to put yourself on the list before you wait.. We waited about 20 minutes and there was one in front of us. Overall, the food is great and the atmosphere is very sociable - I would say. You're close together and it's relatively small. I only have to complain about the waiting time and the location. (It was only bad in winter, I was here in summer too and of course it was bearable)

Extremely delicious fried chicken for two. We also had the chicken in the garlic-soy sauce and sweet-spicy sauce. The latter was incredibly delicious. There were also fries which were quite good. Ketchup/mayo is available free of charge. We then had tteokbokki. It was very spicy but also delicious. Kimchi was actually a bit disappointing, but I still give the food 5/5. Then we had two Korean drinks. That worked out very well for both of us (I eat a lot, accompaniment normal to a little less). Have had enough. In total it was just under €50. For that price you don't have to come several times a week. But like once a month or every other time. It was just under 50 euros in total if I remember. The restaurant is relatively small, so not many people can fit in there. I also think it's good that they don't squeeze in more places unnecessarily. So when it's full you have to queue outside and sign your name on a list. We were there at 6pm on Thursday and had to wait too long. Went there another time on a Saturday shortly before 4pm and were then right in the store. So it's best to be there a little before opening.

Used to be a favourite treat. Now gone downhill. Tonight will be our last visit. We got boneless and the chicken quality isn’t really up to scratch anymore. We were even a bit worried and didn’t eat some pieces because of a raw “meaty” smell and texture. Lots of chicken skin and just off putting appearance of some bites. It used to be large chunks of nice white chicken. The fries have always been so-so but the chicken usually made up for it - both average here. Sauces taste pretty good but much too runny rather than thick. Service quite good and very quick. Busy, small restaurant though so be prepared to wait if you want to go. Only one toilet. Card payments only.

I placed an order for takeout and ended up waiting in the cold for an hour, nearly freezing. When I asked the staff how much longer it would take, I was only told to wait a bit more. This experience was very disappointing, and there won’t be a next time. :)
