Dumplings, suet style not Asian ones. Seating available indoors and outside. Place was packed on a Sunday evening. I ordered one bacon, liver and truffle dumplings which comes with salad on the side. I had trouble finishing my plate even though I was famished, I think 2 dumplings would have been enough. Delicious meal. There was one dumping option for vegan and several for vegetarian. The mushroom sauce and single dessert in the menu is not suitable for vegans. Hot drinks are very reasonable prices.

The Knödelwirtschaft combines a rustic Alpine feel with Berlin flair. There's a wide selection of dumplings, both special and classic, and even many vegetarian options. Reservations are definitely recommended, as the restaurant is quite small and gets quite busy. Yesterday, I chose the spinach and tofu dumpling, the truffle dumpling, and the cheese dumpling, and I couldn't say which was the best because they all tasted fantastic. They were accompanied by various pickled salads. A positive note was that a complimentary carafe of water was placed on our table. Overall, it was a delicious experience that transported me to the mountains. ☺️🌄

The selection of dumplings is simply fantastic and super delicious! The decor adds just the right amount of charm. On a Friday night, however, I would recommend making a reservation or arriving early. By 6 p.m., the place was already packed. The only downside: it was a bit loud, making it difficult to have a proper conversation. But it was still perfectly fine for two people.

Very tasty, traditional food. The atmosphere is very authentic, and there's something for everyone. One positive aspect is that tap water is always brought to the table, without any strange comments or anything like that. The staff is very friendly, and the service is prompt. It's just a shame that you can't sit outside for very long (especially in summer) (though that's not the restaurant's fault). All in all, highly recommended.

The varied dumplings are served with salad and are especially delicious with the mushroom sauce, which you can order on top. An absolutely fantastic shop that we love visiting. The staff are also extremely pleasant. Highly recommended!

I loved everything about this place! The interior was simple yet cosy. The staff were diverse, helpful, prompt and friendly. We ordered the 4 vegetarian dumplings to share and ordered the dessert one. All of it was delicious, soul nourishing, and ambient.

Two or three dumplings are enough to satisfy one's hunger. The sides were delicious. The sauce added flavor to the dumplings, but it was served a little cold... The waiters were really very kind.

Cute shop with truly amazing dumplings. The vegan rosemary dumpling was delicious, as were the cheese dumplings and the chard dumplings. All lovingly prepared and perfectly balanced. I really like the concept – focusing on one delicacy and making the most of it. Truly successful and highly recommended!

The dumpling dish was delicious – especially in combination with the fresh salad. I had the impression that there was a hint of wasabi in the sauce - it's not quite my taste, but the salad balanced it out well. Overall, I highly recommend the meal, especially with a cool light one. Cheers!

It's crowded most of the time, which I can't handle sometimes. Luckily you can get your meal to go if you bring your Tupperware. I really love the mangold dumplings. Prices are still OK to eat there from time to time, but they decreased the number of dumplings you get at some point.

I heard so much about this place, wanted to give it a chance since I’ve been positively surprised by german food before( in Südtyrol ofc lol) Extremely overpriced for what they serve, the goulash was average, some hard bits, sauce insipid. Knodel was ok but does not justify the price.. all different flavours tasted the same except for the liver knodel. Truly disappointing. White people praising mediocrity as per usual

Unfortunately, the meat in the goulash was not at all tender. Strangely enough, the mushroom dumpling hardly has any mushroom flavor and the bacon dumpling didn't taste like bacon either. You can definitely expect more given the prices.

First time having knödel and it was absolutely divine. The cheese and bacon dumplings were our favorite. But the crepe soup with veal broth was amazing. Very cozy and intimate place where you can get a solid hearty meal and glass of wine for 20 euros.

The restaurant is very old and rustic - rustic with a nice atmosphere. The waitresses are super nice and attentive. The food is very tasty, changing dishes. The portion size can be chosen (1, 2 or 3 dumplings). All in all a recommendation.

Food is very good, albeit also priced respectively. The service is friendly, we did have to wait unreasonably long for the desert though. The place is cosy and has a very Berlin vibe.

You have to try handmade dumplings

The food, the service, the vibe. It's just a great experience ! I took 2 cheese knödels and 2 speck and because I was really hungry I added goulash to it. It was the best homemade-style cooking I've had in any restaurant ever.

The atmosphere is very quaint and cozy, as a lot of old furniture was used, the shop really has charm. The food was also great, I had three dumplings with salad and we shared the mushroom sauce. Everything tasted very good and I think the concept is great that there are a few dishes on the menu and you can put together the dumplings yourself. We were there on Saturday lunchtime and it's definitely better to make a reservation. Everything was great and I would love to come back!

You can tell that the operator doesn't come from Berlin and doesn't see real Berliners as a target group - 15 euros for two dumplings (because the dish, i.e. salad and sauce, costs €8.50 + at least 2x €3.50 per dumpling). us here in Bavaria? And then, in a cheeky reaction to incredulous questions, he laughingly and derogatorily called me "boy"....! Anyone who has any self-respect should not visit this store. The dumpling variations are very tasty. They must have had a bad day with the goulash. I couldn't recommend it. I found the reservation fee (8 p.) of €35 strange, but it will be refunded after the meal (the next day). But the service was quick and friendly!

I reserved a table for people by email a week ago and received confirmation. When I showed up on site yesterday, an employee treated me completely differently than I expected. Despite the email confirmation it claimed we had spoken over the phone which was not the case. I was only offered a seat at the counter or a bistro table right next to the kitchen door - kitchen exit - a very inappropriate option that does not meet the expectations I have of a pre-confirmed reservation. Only after I pointed out my email was I offered a seat at a table for eight, but it was already reserved for six guests. This whole situation was not only disorganized but also very disappointing. I expected much more from this visit. Guests who reserve early should be treated reliably and professionally.

First of all, you are seated and they make you share a table with other people. They took a long time to give as the menu and to take our order. Even though we were ready to order after 5 minutes of seeing the menu as they do not have. many things. They even asked other people that arrived later than us first. When ordering, they did not give us any information about the menu, which turned out to not be clear.

What a nice place. The atmosphere is super cozy and decelerated. The service was attentive and not intrusive. The food is awesome. No matter whether dumplings in broth, with butter and parmesan or as a dessert.

The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful and super cozy. The real wood tables, the Florentina lamps and the light create a super pleasant atmosphere. The dumplings are very tasty and you can put them together however you like. It could have been a little more intense in terms of taste and, for my taste, more salad dressing and butter. But that's complaining at a high level.

I finally went to the Knödelwirtschaft SÜD in Berlin for the first time. In the best autumn weather I tried the dumpling menu with 2 dumplings and it was really good. Service and ambience were also good. Definitely not my last visit!

(Although) there is no meat, the combination of the delicious dumplings and a fresh salad offers a complete meal. Anyone who eats here will definitely be full and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. Knödelwirtschaft is a cozy spot that transports you to a mountain hut with its dark wood interior, old-style decor, and candlelit tables. Specializing in Knödel (bread dumplings), the menu is a dumpling lover’s dream, offering around seven different varieties, including mushroom, speck, cheese, and sage. Each Knödel was well-made - chewy but not too heavy. The flavours were food, however not very distinct. You can enjoy the Knödel in various ways, from the traditional Parmesan and butter option to a comforting clear broth or paired with hearty beef goulash. The goulash was rich and flavorful, with tender beef that pulled apart effortlessly. Even the side salads were a delightful surprise, with a vibrant mix of red beets, cabbage, and cucumbers, providing a refreshing contrast to the heavier dumplings. The service was polite, and the food arrived quickly. Even the coffee was great, rounding off the meal nicely. Prices are ok, maybe a tick on the higher end considering the base ingredients that go into making the dumplings. The only downside was a large hole in the door of one of the dining rooms, which made it quite cold, forcing us to keep our jackets on while eating. Despite this, Knödelwirtschaft is an interesting place to indulge in tasty, well-made Knödel. Just hope they fix the door soon!

Very tasty food! The ambience is amazing and more importantly the service is so so friendly. They even help you understand the menu. Definitely recommend for you if you want to try something German but are a bit unfamiliar with the cuisine. Considerable vegetarian options.

My partner is pregnant, so we called to ask if we could reserve a table outside. An extraordinarily rude woman on the other end laughed at us, and then proceeded to reprimand us for asking such a question. We should've known dumplings were such serious business! Used to love this place, but will be avoiding it from now on. Woof! :(

The salad is nice but out of the three dumplings I had the only one with any flavour was the cheese one which was delicious. The chanterelle one tasted of nothing. My partner said the bacon one was rubbish too. Maybe I should have had the goulash.

Friendly service, rustic atmosphere and very tasty dumplings. You can put together a mix of the varieties and get fresh side salads with it. Everything tastes like it was homemade. Mushroom sauce is enough for 4 dumplings. Taking leftovers wasn't a problem either.

My absolute favorite restaurant in Berlin! My first visit to Knödelwirtschaft was actually 7 years ago when I was last in Berlin, and I have thought fondly about my meal there ever since. I had the pleasure of visiting Berlin again last week and coming back to this restaurant was my top priority. This time I tried the beef goulash with 1 liver dumpling and 1 paprika dumpling (paprika was the special dumpling of the day). Both dumplings were incredible and the beef goulash was even better than I expected. My boyfriend had the boiled veal with a cheese, a bacon, and a spinach dumpling. It was the perfect meal to enjoy together for our last evening in Berlin. In addition to the yummy knödels, the atmosphere is super cozy and the staff are very warm and welcoming. I love this spot because even as a visitor from New York, it gives the feeling of dining as a local at home in your own neighborhood. I highly recommend Knödelwirtschaft (both this location and the second 'North' location which I also visited last week) to anyone looking for a delicious and memorable meal in Berlin. I am already looking forward to my next visit!😋

The food was delicious, as always. The special Dumpling of the day was great, and the portion sizes were perfect. - (The Goulash is a MUST, for anyone that has yet to visit) - The waitress that served me with the blonde hair was excellent, although there was another staff member working mostly behind the bar/counter (wearing blue) whose attitude was not so nice and was unkind when I asked where the bathroom was. When treating myself to such a nice meal I expect to be treated better, and she also seemed to be not so nice to other staff members and it just brought down the overall positive energy in the restaurant.

Extremely delicious vegan dumplings (unfortunately there were only two vegan varieties)

Absolutely spectacular. I’m here in Berlin for the first time, and the first time in Germany as well. If you want to eat traditional German food, you can’t miss this place. It’s located in a quaint but lively neighborhood, and the vibe inside the restaurant is incredible. Large wooden tables and warm candle lighting, extremely friendly staff (who speak great English as well). We had no idea what to expect, and wow was the meal incredible! In 2, we split the plate of beef goulash with 1 dumpling added, and it was definitely enough for two people. The sauce was delicious, the dumplings full of flavor, and the meat was so tender that it fell apart with just a fork. The meal came with a salad plate of pickled veggies: cucumbers, sauerkraut, beets, etc. I wanted to try dessert too, but I was too full. I would highly recommend checking this place out, the only thing is that it is cash only, but so is most of Berlin, so make sure you bring cash!

I had the worst costumer experience in Berlin, which is not a great place for costumer experience so that speaks really loud. We arrived at the restaurant at 21:30, I live 200m away from this amazing place for 1.5 years now, I have always received somewhat reasonable costumer service (berlin standard which is super low to begin with) but I was happy to return again and again. But this time - we had this super rude moustached I think (english) guy, who was rude beyond words, it felt he was annoyed by just being approached, its like we annoyed him by saying hi. Such a nasty worker, if I was a business owner(and I am), I would definitely not want someone like that to represent me or my business.
