Klosterhof Knechtsteden in Dormagen

We've already eaten here once with a group of seven. Then my children celebrated their milestone birthdays here, as well as their civil wedding ceremony. The food and service were always delicious and excellent on every occasion. What was particularly impressive was that at the civil wedding, all 20 of us ordered à la carte and the food arrived for everyone at the same time – not every restaurant can manage that. The quality of the food has consistently impressed us. 👍 Highly recommended.

Everything was brilliant!!! We enjoyed our dinner there, plus the kids menu was very tasty and quality meal! The local food and beer was just amazing!! Hope I visit it again!

I can only comment on the goose, which was very good, including the side dishes. I'd gladly order it again sometime, perhaps a different dish. 👍

A cozy monastery restaurant. Very generous portions and delicious food. They also have a monastery beer. Large outdoor terrace in the summer.

You can relax in a peaceful atmosphere within the historic setting. The food offers something for everyone, and for me, it was a culinary delight! The service is very attentive and friendly! We'll gladly come back.

During a visit to the monastery, we suddenly had a craving for a waffle. Although the restaurant was quite busy, we decided to go in. A display at the counter asks you to wait. Seats are assigned, which happened shortly afterward. The food selection is plentiful and reasonably priced. We ordered two waffles with whipped cream and ice cream, as well as two lattes. The waffles were delicious, and the drinks were nice and hot. All for €25, including tip. Thank you so much, we'll be back.

A nice place to visit, but ordering and paying is very tedious and time-consuming. Once you've ordered, the drinks and food are served relatively quickly.

The currywurst isn't on the menu for inside. My insider tip for those who like a lot of 😜 meat. The fries are great, the atmosphere is like a monastery. Everything's just right.

We had coffee and cake here. We were lucky with the weather and were able to sit outside.

Very good food, service a bit overwhelmed but by no means bad, and the seats are a bit uncomfortable but definitely bearable for the duration of a restaurant visit.

Yes, very good food. Very nice terrace. Ideal for cyclists. Very beautiful monastery and cathedral nearby.

The food is okay for the price, but nothing that will blow you away. I think it really depends on what you order. The service is great; all the staff are very friendly and helpful. I recommend the house cellar beer; it's very easy to digest.

After a bike ride, we took a break at Knechtsteden Monastery. We didn't have to wait long and were served very early. Our order was brought very promptly, even though it was very busy. It was very nice to sit outside in the monastery courtyard.

I was there yesterday for coffee and cake. I ordered plum crumble. It was almost an insult to even be served the cake. I guess it had thawed. In any case, it was a mess. The crust was so mushy (like raw cake batter), it stuck to the cake plate and fork; no crumbles, they had melted. Anything can happen. I've been there many times, and everything has been fine so far. But what annoyed me most was the waitress's comment when I said I didn't agree with the cake. She said I didn't have to pay for it. I wanted to say something nice and told her that I never complain... Her response: the customer is always right. Well, thank you very much!

The location is good - we were there on a Friday at 5.30pm, the beer garden is nice, very friendly staff, the beer is well chilled but my Penne Klosterhof was a disaster: barely seasoned, drowned in cream, there was no taste of the white wine, carelessly prepared (I had also told 2 waiters this): so for this dish 1 point and I can't recommend it to anyone - if you are on a bike and just want to have a drink, very nice atmosphere and the Knechtsteden monastery next door is tempting with a visit

We were on our way from Cologne to Helmond and were looking for a place to eat when we saw this place. We were delighted with how welcoming this place is! The entire staff is very friendly and attentive, even though we didn't speak the same language. The food is spectacular, very tasty, and the portions are very generous! The house stout is another plus! A very pleasant experience. Thank you

The waitresses were busy picking up beer mats and clearing the tables. When we finally managed to get our attention, we received a silly response. Okay, the place was busy and probably didn't need it. We left.

Highly recommended. My husband really enjoyed the sauerbraten with red cabbage and dumplings. I had a schnitzel with fries. We were completely satisfied. Great location. It's like stepping back in time when you enter the restaurant. We really enjoyed it.

The restaurant is very large and has a large outdoor area. We ate there with about 25 people. They have a reduced menu for lunch. The drinks came very quickly, and we didn't have to wait too long for the food. Despite the large number of people, everyone was served one after the other. The Bockwurst with the potato salad was enormous and almost didn't fit on the plate. The pasta dish and the tarte flambée were also very tasty. However, I wasn't that fond of the schnitzel. It seemed to have been deep-fried. It reminded me a bit of a snack bar. I'll choose something else next time. But the beer is very tasty.

Food took way too long, many waiters were unfriendly and the food didn't even fill you up and wasn't very tasty for 1 hour 20 minutes

The staff was completely overwhelmed. It took over an hour for us to receive our order. The sauce for the schnitzel tasted like it was made with Maggi, and the dumplings were also from a packet. We actually wanted to order dessert and drinks, but we were afraid we'd have to wait forever again. The head waitress, in particular, was quite unfriendly and snippily dismissed our questions. We won't be back, even though the atmosphere is quite nice.

Cozy excursion restaurant with a certain pep, reasonably priced and good food

The menu is clear, but that is particularly good for the quality of the food. There were eight of us there and everyone found their dish extremely tasty. I thought mine was cooked perfectly and the prices were reasonable too. All in all a nice place!

Stopped here on the bike tour and ate the huge currywurst. Food was ok and the portion was large. If the beer garden is busy, it takes a while until you are served. But it's not that bad, it's quite nice to sit there.

Quaint, cozy restaurant, right next to Knechtsteden Monastery. In summer with a beautiful beer garden. Sufficient selection of food and drinks. Special mention should be made of the home-made monastery beer. With salads, tarte flambée, sauerbraten, broad beans, currently goose and plenty of meat options, there is something delicious for everyone. The service is fast, friendly, helpful and accommodating.

The beer garden is wonderful. The Knechtstedener Schwarzbier doesn't taste good to Altbier drinkers either

Very nice staff, a great, "real" and large inn and a black beer "to kneel down on!"; It was so delicious. My mouth is watering again. Next time we'll eat something too. What the other guests got looked great. Parking in front of the door. We previously went for a walk there with the dog, the monastery grounds and the beautiful nature, the herb garden etc. were also ideal, a good destination.

Unfortunately we couldn't eat there because everything was full. We thought it was a shame that we weren't allowed to eat outside. The service did not want to deliver to the outside world. We weren't allowed to take our food with us either. Flexibility looks different

The goose meal was the highlight for us. You can also highly recommend the steak at the Klosterhof. The restaurant management is the nicest, always in a good mood and always ready for a chat. The four of us always enjoy coming back.

Good cuisine, attentive service and a cozy atmosphere

After renovation, dogs are prohibited. The restaurant manager (or owner?) loudly rejected us. He kept tapping the sticker on the front door. Arrogant and unyielding - he didn't care that we had to walk a long time to get there. We won't go there again and many visitors with dogs will lose them in the restaurant.

We ate there with our children and our dog. My mixed salad with turkey strips, mushrooms and yogurt dressing was very tasty. The portion size was decent. My husband had roast pork with a delicious dark sauce and fried potatoes. He also enjoyed it very much. The children ate a baked potato with quark and a children's schnitzel with fries. They were probably ok. The service was very friendly. Our large dog was also welcome. The price for these four dishes with 5 drinks of around 75 euros was great! Really recommended!

The menu is extensive and there is something for every taste. The food was served by friendly staff, was plentiful and tasted very good to us. A table reservation is recommended as the restaurant was very busy. We have eaten in the restaurant several times and have always been very satisfied. In summer there is also a beautiful beer garden in front of the monastery tavern.

The food was OK. A lot of effort has been made to respond to wishes and intolerances. But there wasn't enough sauce and that certain something was missing. The service was mercilessly overwhelmed. A waitress spilled drinks on people/jackets at the neighboring table, orders were forgotten and mixed up, but people were always friendly. The ambience was great.

First of all, I really like the atmosphere there. The service staff are also really friendly. But the food... I ordered the apple fritters. The plate was very nicely presented. However, everything was convenience. Which I can excuse if it were good. But when I tried the apple fritters, I almost spontaneously spit them out. Which was because they were baked in French fries fat. The friendly waitress confirmed this to me at the end because she asked in the kitchen. That wouldn't be an oversight, it would always be done that way. Okeeee... We then got a refund.

Very nice service, everything is right. The classic tarte flambée with rocket was delicious. The price-performance ratio for the tarte flambée is ok. I don't think schnitzel is ok because they are finished products and not prepared by myself.

Very tasty food with friendly waiters

Uns hatte die Gänsekarte und die durchgehend warme Küche gelockt. Da ich Gänsefan bin, wollte ich unbedingt die Gänsebrust probieren. Der dazu gereicht Rotkohl und die Maronen & Klöße waren unspektakulär. Die Gänsebrust war echt fad und hat nach Tiefkühltruhe geschmeckt. Wirklich nicht lecker. Die Sauce hat es auch echt nicht mehr rausgerissen. Wir werden zum Essen NIE wieder zum Klosterhof Knechtsteden kommen. Schade ums Geld und die in Kauf genommene Anfahrt.

There were 16 of us there in the late afternoon (along with a group of seniors and a group of business people). The service is very friendly and accommodating. I had a very, very good schnitzel with fried potatoes and onion and pepper cream and I am more than satisfied. Everything fresh, homemade and without a microwave 👌🏻I was a bit jealous of my neighbor at the table because he had the Knechtsteder black beer onion roast. It looked very good and was said to have tasted fantastic. Here you eat well, comfortably and therefore noticed as a "go-to place"!!!!!👏🏻
