Very tasty, not too salty as is often the case, and special requests were accommodated without any problems. Highly recommended!

After our Monday and Tuesday rest days, we stopped by the Klippengrill for dinner on Thursday. We were lucky to get a table for four of us without a reservation. The food was incredibly delicious, whether it was venison steak or pork medallions. The venison burger, in particular, was exceptionally well seasoned; we haven't had anything like it anywhere else. A special highlight was the open-plan kitchen, and from our seats, we could watch the chef at work the whole time. :) The service wasn't the friendliest, but that was probably due to the full house. The prices were surprisingly low for the high quality offered. We can therefore highly recommend this restaurant. :D

The food was excellent. Here in Altenau, it's clear that those who make good food survive. Many restaurants have to close. I'm always a fan of restaurants with small menus and a few seasonal dishes that are spot on. I'd be happy to go again.

The place is a disaster. The restaurant is fantastic. Nice chef, great food. Everything is freshly prepared, the meat is excellent. The staff is courteous, and they even offer a free shot after the meal. One of two restaurants where you can still eat in this place.

Matthias is a true grill master; he has his place under control, and it's always packed. Reservations are essential on weekends! Keep it up!

It looked like a nice restaurant. But I didn't get a chance to try it because the grumpy waitress wouldn't let us in when we arrived at 8:15 p.m., and they closed at 9:00 p.m. What a shame.

Great restaurant in Altenau, always worth a visit. So, people, support the community and go out to eat.

Soooo...where do I begin? Normally my husband and I would agree that a 2-star rating is too much, but considering we got a table without a reservation, we're turning a blind eye. But - I feel obligated to support the elderly couple who were seated next to us, as they certainly won't be publishing a review. The lady and gentleman arrived 15 minutes late for their reservation, which by no means gives the young, blonde, apparently inexperienced server the right to speak to the guests in such a rude tone, and so loudly, that neighboring tables, including us, felt embarrassed. I don't know if the young lady is the regular server in the restaurant, but she should pay attention to friendliness despite the stress of her shift. Or the manager should pay attention to his staff, as things also got "bitchy" between the aforementioned server and the kitchen staff in front of guests. We run a service business ourselves; if such rudeness were encountered in our store, the person in question would face consequences without discussion. The food was mediocre at best and could have been better prepared and, above all, seasoned at home. Salt and pepper on the tables would be a good measure. Why so many positive reviews have been written is a mystery to us; perhaps there was a better time for this restaurant back then, when hospitality and service were still a top priority.

My wife and I spontaneously went there for dinner today. The service was very friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious. My wife had fries and salad. I had the Cliff Burger. I've had quite a few burgers, but this one is definitely among my top three. Delicious with red cabbage and pickled gherkins. With a delicious sauce. I really recommend it. Unfortunately, I can't say much about the rest.

The best steak I've ever eaten, and they even brought us home because I'm having trouble breathing. The food is amazing, and so is the service. We'll be happy to visit this restaurant again whenever we're here. The chef and the staff are all super friendly and accommodating. Always a pleasure and a definite recommendation.

This is the third time we have been to Altenau and each time we have been to Klippengill. Like other years, the food was excellent. Steaks juicy and cooked to perfection, fried potatoes and mushrooms very good and fresh, accompanied by the delicious local Pils. Service nice and competent. Very modern, like not everywhere else in Altenau 🤭 We'll be back.

Unfortunately we had to wait over 90 minutes for the food. After asking whether we had been forgotten, the waitress became unfriendly and said that the reservations were being processed first and that she couldn't do more than walk. The people next to us didn't make a reservation and ordered after us and the four of us got their food after 30 minutes. There were two of us. The waitress went in and came out again and said that the things were now on the grill and if we didn't like it, we could take the order back.

I really love this restaurant. Asparagus is currently on offer there and the price-performance ratio is simply unbeatable. If requested, the asparagus was cooked a little softer. The potatoes, asparagus, hollandaise sauce and ham were incredibly delicious. There was also a very nice service person there. :)

We are currently sitting in the restaurant for the second time because the first time alone was awesome! The first time we made a reservation, there wasn't much available. Today we were able to spontaneously come in and sit outside in a rustic, beautiful winter garden/terrace. Great food, flexibly selectable number of grams (meat) and the presentation on the plate, really great! Inside, the kitchen is visible to the customer, freshly prepared and absolutely clean. Price-performance ratio is also bomb, no deduction from us - completely perfect all around!

We weren't even planning on visiting the restaurant at first, as we'd assumed it was a fast-food restaurant based on the online photos. However, during our two-day stay in Altenau, we passed by in person and found it more appealing than we first expected. In the end, it was definitely the best meal of the entire weekend. We highly recommend it! Special requests were accommodated, the food was fresh and delicious, and the service was also perfectly fine. 5 stars from us!

The most beautiful restaurant in this town with very good food and super friendly service. Although I had only ordered a table for 6 people the day before, everything was still possible. We were warmly welcomed, the drinks and food came quickly and everyone enjoyed it very well. Paying with an EC card would also work and last but not least we got a schnapps from the house. All in all a successful evening. Thank you very much, we will be back.

Kleines Restaurant mit hervorragendem Essen. Ich hatte ein Nackensteak was perfekt gegrillt war. Auch die anderen Gerichte waren qualitativ einwandfrei. Der Service war freundlich und aufmerksam. Wer gute Steaks mag ist hier richtig. Vom Ambiente erwartet einem kein spektakuläres Restaurant. Die offene Küche zeigt aber das hohe Kochniveau. Das Restaurant ist somit zu empfehlen.

A great restaurant! The food tastes amazing, but I felt there was a bit of a lack of side dishes. Price/performance ok. The rooms are quaint and a bit cramped. You should definitely make a reservation if you want to eat with several people. Still really great, delicious regional food! Unfortunately, orders for pickup/take away are not possible. We would have liked to take another cliff burger with us 😋

We were traveling as a small motorcycle group and ended the day in this beautiful restaurant. It is a very tastefully decorated inn with super friendly service. Today I decided on the venison steak and I have to say that I made a good choice. The steak was medium fried and had a very good spicy taste. The side dishes were also not to be sniffed at and complemented the whole dish well. I would always come here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a good and inexpensive restaurant.
