The quality of the preparation and the ingredients make the prices a bit high. But the food is delicious and the portions are generous. Highly recommended.

We were passing through and stopped off in Münster, starving. We were lucky and got a table for two outside under the first warm rays of sunshine. The menu was very appealing and varied. We opted for cheese spaetzle with mushrooms. It was very tasty, beautifully presented, and the salad, which came in a separate bowl, was crisp and also excellent. The staff was very friendly. We'll be back when we have more time.

We had a really great and sociable evening! Jürgen and Fabian served us extremely charmingly and courteously. Attentive, personable, honest. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is cozy, the prices reflect the good quality. Always my pleasure!

A nice brasserie with no positive surprises. You sit really nicely and the service is nice and quick. The drinks are average, from large brewing companies, but the food is disappointing, warmed up in the microwave and prepared in advance with little imagination. We had young broad beans - drowned in cream sauce, overcooked Mettwurst and boiled potatoes, Tagliarini Rossi - simply stirred, men's cream - flabby, but luckily without a microwave. Still a nice place to sit and drink if original drinks aren't particularly important.

We were there for lunch today. Quality and service top. We'd love to come back. A water bowl for our dog would have been nice. But maybe we overlooked it. Still 5 stars. 👍 Addendum from 3/7/25 Today we were at the restaurant again at lunchtime. The ambience and service were again excellent. But urgent criticism of the kitchen is appropriate. We ordered a rump steak, rare, with vegetables and fried potatoes. The steak and fried potatoes were lukewarm. I complained about this and less than five minutes later I received a new rump steak and new fried potatoes. The fried potatoes were actually warmed up and now delicious. But the “new” steak was only lukewarm again. I complained again and four minutes later I received a new rump steak, not rare, but at least warmed as ordered. No chef can fry a rump steak in four minutes. I think rump steaks and fried potatoes are pre-cooked in the Salamander and waiting for orders. At these prices, I always expect freshly prepared food. I think I'll prefer the big Kiepenkerl the next time I visit the cathedral.

We were there on February 24th, 2025. The reservation was pure lottery. We made a reservation for 5 p.m. and received a corresponding confirmation. Afterwards, the reservation was questioned and we were only offered a time slot from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. by phone. There were probably more reservations and then confirmations play a subordinate role. Food was modestly good. Portions in a good price-performance ratio. Unfortunately it was only lukewarm. We are certainly not repeat offenders.

Yes, great service and very tasty food

Leider hat der traditionelle Kiepenkerl doch sehr an Qualität und Stil verloren. Personal freundlich, aber Westfälisches Krüstchen - ein Klassiker—so traurig angerichtet, Schnitzel klein und viel zu hell gebraten . Das Porzellan umgestellt auf weiße, ovale Teller …wie man sie im Imbiss kennt. Auf Tischen und Fensterbänken nur noch Plastikblumen….kühle LED-Tischlichter statt stilvoller Kerzen. Die Atmosphere war früher viel schöner, die Küche überzeugender. Sehr schade.

Very nice atmosphere, making a reservation takes some getting used to, it's very restrictive when you come and how long you can stay, especially if you don't arrive on time, which is stressful if you travel a little further away. But on site everything was very relaxed and ok. The food and service were excellent and highly recommended.

Good food, good staff without question but not being able to come in 1 minute before is borderline, they left us standing outside in the cold and brought us in even later than reserved, absolutely silly and you're not welcome in any way, Mass production, every cent counts apparently! Very good service and excellent local food

The restaurant impresses not only with its cozy Westphalian ambience, but also with the courteous staff. At first we were irritated that we had to wait outside when we were early. (This restaurant pays attention to the time slots in which you have reserved, which is not a negative criticism). We were even more impressed by the subsequent service! Everything was to our satisfaction. There is also something for vegetarians and vegans here. I had the delicious Mediterranean Coucous. But all the other dishes looked delicious too. This was only my second visit here, but I'd love to come back in the future! A real centerpiece in Münster.

We visited the restaurant with 8 people at 7:30pm on a Wednesday evening to celebrate a 50th birthday. Our table was very well located. We were served by excellent service, which was very attentive. Our food came quickly and was excellent. We were able to reorder side dishes for free. Since we mentioned the birthday when making our reservation, the birthday child was also given ice cream with fireworks at the table. The whole team was great, but we especially remember Mr. Swan!! We would love to come back…

We spent a very pleasant Sunday lunch with excellent regional cuisine and a very cozy atmosphere. With a visit to the “Kleiner Kiepenkerl” you can experience our beautiful Münsterland from its culinary side. The guest rooms, furnished in a traditional Westphalian style with great attention to detail, invite you to linger and gave us a “welcome home!” feeling. The extremely friendly and attentive service staff also played a significant role in this. They left nothing to be desired and our special thanks go to them! We have always been from Wuppertal for over 8 years. When we visit Münster it is mandatory that we have lunch in the small Kiepenkerl. Service from A to Z friendly, courteous and fast. The food has been incredibly tasty for years, of very good quality and always beautifully presented. We remain faithful. 🤗

Ambiance and service top. Our food (cheese spaetzle and Wiener schnitzel) were average. Spaetzle without much taste, the schnitzel had the steamed vegetables lukewarm and the fried potatoes were very oily. Spaetzle is very expensive at €19. Portion size manageable.

Great restaurant with friendly and cheerful service. Delicious down-to-earth cuisine. I had lamb fillet and only one small criticism. I found the fillets seared a little too spicy. But since they were still pink and tender, no real problem. It's also a matter of taste. I find the rooms comfortable and... matching the card. Even when booking from 15 People have shown themselves to be very flexible.

We were treated sensationally professionally. After a failed online reservation through our own fault, they were able to accommodate us at short notice despite a large group of 10 people. The food was great, the Bernaise was unforgettable, all in all a great location. We'd love to come back.

Two of us were here at 2 p.m. to celebrate my birthday. The atmosphere is very cozy. The employees are super friendly, you have the feeling that you are welcome here and that they enjoy their job. The food was very tasty and the wine went well with it. Price/performance is totally reasonable. Conclusion: We would be happy to come back and can recommend it without reservation.

Bought a currywurst and bratwurst at the Christmas market at the Kleiner Kiepenkerl stall. Almost black and inedible! The curry sauce was also more on the outside of the container than inside. When I pointed it out to the people in the stall, I was handed a few napkins. They were busy and didn't feel like it!

Table reservation went well, we were warmly welcomed and given a great table. The waitress (Patrick) was friendly, cheerful, attentive, courteous and quick. The food came quickly and was very tasty. It was probably fresh, not a run-of-the-mill industrial taste. My kale was great, the prices corresponded to the quality. Great!!

The food was very tasty and met expectations. There is a deduction because of the Kaiserschmarren, despite the waiter's recommendation it was not convincing and was burnt in places. Otherwise, the atmosphere is a little disturbed by the increased need to remember reservation times. Overall, a clear recommendation if you ever visit Münster!

Were there on Sunday lunchtime and unfortunately can't quite understand the hype. The food was okay, but nothing amazing for the price. Unfortunately it wasn't hot either and we sometimes had to wait quite a long time for service. Maybe it was due to the selected tables and the fact that there was simply a lack of staff.

Big rush even in low season. Almost nothing works without a reservation or waiting. Problem: sometimes reservations are offered, sometimes not. Not entirely understandable. We were lucky to get 2 seats at 2 p.m. Flair typical and nice restaurant atmosphere. But everything was very hectic and busy. Fully on mass production. You also notice it when you eat. Nothing special from a culinary point of view. Portions are large, prices are rather high. Staff friendly and very hard working. If you just want to eat real Westphalian food, you can't miss it here. But you can survive well without it.

We were looking forward to a piece of St. Martin's goose in a pleasant atmosphere. It was tough and hard. The apology schnapps was a nice touch, but the Kaiserschmarren was also pale - you could see the flour rather than the eggs. At least the staff was friendly and attentive. Unfortunately the kitchen was a disappointment.
