Kleiner Kiepenkerl in Münster

Of course we came to the restaurant without a reservation, but despite the house being full we still got a table near the counter. The service was great from the start. Sympathetic, courteous and simply friendly. The food came very quickly. My friend had a Wiener Schnitzel and I had a Vegan Schnitzel. There were fried potatoes with both. Both dishes were simply top notch! We would love to come back here. Definitely worth a visit!

It's actually always the first choice for me when I'm in Münster. Food is good but today we had the smallest beef roulade I have ever seen. It was more like potatoes with red cabbage and a small dry meat roll! It only costs 28 euros.

We went there for dinner with 5 colleagues. The food was great for everyone, as were the starters. The service staff was extremely friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The journey from Dortmund to Münster is also worth it!

A must when visiting Munster. The restaurant, centrally located in the old town, is well furnished and offers good food at a good price. The portions are well sized to fill you up and the staff always have a friendly saying on their lips. You can also sit outside very well. I'd love to come back.

Had fantastic bowel movement-promoting schnitzels here. I've never had to use the toilet so much as after eating here. Service very friendly and accommodating for acoustic people like me.

It's pretty there, very cozy! Unfortunately I find a black tea for €4.20 too expensive. First of all in general but then also because a small beer costs €3.90 less. The food, highly praised by others, was fine. Really fine! Not bad, but not above average either. For the price paid it fits.

I've eaten at "Kleiner Kiepenkerl" twice in the last few days. I enjoyed it very much, the atmosphere is very cozy and the service was extremely friendly and accommodating. Gladly again.

I absolutely cannot understand the good reviews. We sat right in the entrance area, it was drafty and we sat there as if we were crammed together. The food was exorbitantly expensive, so I thankfully skipped it. What came for my companions looked good, but at certain prices a red line is simply crossed for me. For me it was the first and last time there. A wheat beer for €6.10 says it all.

An absolute highlight in Münster! From the moment we entered the restaurant we were warmly welcomed. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with charming, rustic decor that perfectly matches the history of the house. It feels like a piece of Münster tradition. The menu offers a wonderful selection of regional dishes that are prepared with a lot of love. I chose the classic Westphalian dish and was thrilled by the quality of the ingredients and the perfect preparation. Every bite was a delight! The vegetarian options are also creative and tasty - there is something for everyone here. The service was attentive and friendly without being intrusive. You can immediately tell that the staff is well trained and has a passion for gastronomy. Overall, I can only warmly recommend the Little Kiepenkerl. Whether for dinner or a social evening with friends – you will be completely pampered here. I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

Selten waren wir in einem Restaurant mit einer solch hervorragenden Servicementalität. Wirklich jede/r Mitarbeiter/in ist unheimlich freundlich, zuvorkommend und aufmerksam. Wir haben ausgezeichnet gegessen bei reichlichen Portionen. Schön angerichtet (Auge ist mit) und sehr schmackhaft. Dabei ist in der Karte für jede/n etwas dabei auch für Vegetarier und Veganer. Das Ambiente ist sehr schön, ohne den Eindruck eines "edlen" Restaurants zu erwecken. Dabei sind sehr viele historischen Informationen und Bilder u.a. von Anette Droste Hülshoff an den Wänden. Alles in allem ein gelungener Abend Man sollte auf jeden Fall reservieren, wer draussen sitzen will muss früh kommen oder Glück haben. Das Ambiente draussen ist auch wunderschön aber reservieren kann man nur drinnnen. Wir waren lediglich auf der Durchreise haben aber vor wieder nach Münster zu kommmen und dann wird der Kleine Kiepenkerl unsere erste Adresse sein.

Thanks to the mild temperatures, we had a very nice evening with extremely friendly service from Fabian v.d.B. spent with delicious food in beautiful surroundings. We were completely satisfied and would love to come back. Thanks to Fabian and the kitchen!

We went to the "Kleiner Kiepenkerl" restaurant with our family (8 people) on the occasion of our mother's birthday. Starting from the reservation, everything was great. We were greeted and served in a friendly and courteous manner and had an excellent meal. A big compliment to the entire team, we were completely satisfied and would love to come back.

Solid German cuisine has been a winner in Emsxhede for years

It was our first time in the small Kiepenkerl. It's a great atmosphere, a nice ambience and particularly delicious food (see photo). The employees were courteous and friendly! Especially the trainee Mr. Nguyen. Always my pleasure.

DING DONG we have a 5* Champion! - We too a tour through Germany and this was one of our favorite dinners. The Restaurant was packed, but they found us a nice table without waiting and did their very best to serve us in a timely fashion. We had the Antipasti, Rumpsteak, Käsespätzle with Truffles. Everything was very flavorful and the steak was cooked medium rare as ordered. The atmosphere was lively but in a positive sense and we really enjoyed spending the evening at this fantastic Restaurant

Good food in a charming building. However, the service left much to be desired. The starter was on the table within 2 minutes, the main course arrived after more than an hour of waiting (with apologies) and for dessert we only received the menu. After 20 minutes there was still no attendant to take our dessert. It was already late so we finally asked for the bill. Then the clerk asked for a tip and the options for this had already been filled in on the ATM. That is somewhat misplaced and with little customer understanding.

Super nice team. Very trying. Fulfill (almost) every wish. Only recommended!

Wir haben einen sehr gelungenen Abend verbracht: gutes Essen, egal, von welchem Teil der Karte man bestellte, gute und einfallsreiche Getränke, man saß bei vollem Haus trotzdem nicht beengt und es war nicht zu laut, um sich zu unterhalten. Ein besonderes Lob verdient die immer präsente, sehr freundliche und überaus aufmerksame Bedienung.

Truly a unique restaurant in a beautiful location in Münster. We would particularly like to emphasize the service: the extreme friendliness is no longer common everywhere these days. Thanks for that! 😊 The food (Westphalian snack plate and potato gratin with pork medallions) was delicious. We are considering coming back here once a month for a leisurely day in MS, despite the 60 km journey, for a stop in the evening!

An absolute must visit when strolling through the old town.

Munster day, so the city was rammed. We asked if they had a quiet table - boy were we in luck. Excellent food, and despite being SO busy the service was truly excellent - 3 or 4 staff attended us but Viet was an absolute star. His recommendations were spot on (honestly, the best schnapps I ever had!) his english is superb, allowing his wonderful personality to beam through. A guy like this just makes you want to go back to Munster. The food was lovely, straightforward in design, superb in execution I had the special - lovely beef and pork medalions.. tasty, and I laughed with Viet that if I was at home I would have licked the plate clean. He looked about but then thought twice about encouraging me. LOL... and now I know in Germany to ask for a 'theives spoon' for my wife to share my desert. Honestly, if you are in Munster and hungry, and want a good meal, go here. Say Hi to Viet for us if he is working.

First we were given a menu, a little later an older waiter corrected that the kitchen was already closed. In the end they cooked for us - complete chaos. A little later, the connection to the parasols above the heads of the guests sitting there was dismantled, obviously disturbing several guests. The food was solid, but not outstanding. Price/performance just about right. You live by the name and the location.

Wir hatten für heute eine Tisch reserviert, welches auch notwendig war, und wurden freundlich zu dem Tisch im Außenbereich begleitet. Man reichte uns dann die Karte. Hier ist eine große Auswahl an Lokalen und Internationalen Speisen ersichtlich. Die Angebote sind reichlich und machen ein Wiederkommen notwendig. Der sehr freundliche Service ist klasse. Man merkt hier wird gern gearbeitet, weil alles stimmt, Atmosphäre Einrichtung u.v.m. Auch der Hinweis das der Beilagensalat den meine Frau nicht haben wollte selbstständig vom Preis abgezogen wird zeugt auch von Nachhaltiger Denkweise. Zum Essen ist zu sagen hier wird mit guter Qualität gearbeitet und dieses auch in der Zubereitung weitergegeben, welches sich am Geschmack bemerkbar macht deshalb stimmt auch hier der Preis mit der Leistung. Waren nicht das erste mal hier, die hohe Qualität an Service (Bedienung) Qualität der Speisen, und der ganzen Atmosphäre hat über die ganze Zeit hinweg gehalten. Wir können nur allen empfehlen hier zu essen und zu genießen. Es hat mal wieder richtig Freude und Spass wiederzubekommen, und wir kommen wieder, Versprochen

Good quality food with friendly service. Unfortunately, the vegetarian potato soup (upon request) was served with bacon skewers and pieces of sausage in the soup. The staff only reacted partially with understanding. Too bad.

Apparently the price-performance ratio seems to be completely out of control. Gratin “style of the house”, which is supposed to be a specialty, for a mere €23 was neither a taste experience nor a quantitative surprise. A small piece of pork tenderloin got lost in the potatoes and felt completely lost. Unfortunately, the spices were also missing, so the potatoes tasted quite bland. The cost of goods was a maximum of 3.00. The schnitzel with gypsy sauce from the next table for €17 cut a better figure. Someone should improve the quality and quantity here. The restaurant's outfit doesn't look like a fast food restaurant, although some of the waiters behave like one. The salad was good and our service was very accommodating. There is something for children to paint and do crafts with. All in all we were disappointed for the price.

As a “Münstertouri” this location is highly recommended and a “must” on every stroll through the city. Wonderful location on the square in front of the Kiepenkerl with very beautiful house gables in the heart of Münster. You are right in the middle and yet sit very quietly. The service and staff are second to none. The selection from the menu is very extensive. Something for everyone. The prices correspond to the high standard.

Pleasant atmosphere, tasty food and attentive service. We came across this restaurant on our trip through the city center. We quickly found a place and were served quickly and friendly. There is also a separate allergen menu where you can see which dishes contain which allergens. The food was very good and I can highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Münster.

This is a very sweet local restaurant in Münster - I love the terrace to seat outside during the summer and it is always quite full of locals having lunch and dinner. The food is good, regional cuisine. The service attentive and quick.

A very child-friendly restaurant. There was even a surprise bag with lots of activity materials. The food was very tasty. The homemade Béarnaise sauce was excellent. The children's meals were also high quality and very tasty. The Kinderschnitzel was a real schnitzel again. The staff was particularly convincing. Everyone was very friendly, attentive and eager to have fun. We really liked it and can recommend the restaurant 100 percent.

Spontaneously going out to eat on a Monday evening - extremely friendly service, really tasty, honest food and Altbier punch with fresh strawberries. We were outside with our children. Although the restaurant was completely full, the service staff were not stressed. Cards and drinks came quickly and the food also came in a reasonable time. The staff was very child-friendly and very attentive. The dishes were very well prepared. The vegetables were crunchy. Overall, we were very impressed with the service staff.

Das Essen war einfach hervorragend. Die Speisekarte bot eine wunderbare Auswahl an Gerichten, die alle frisch und mit hochwertigen Zutaten zubereitet wurden. Ich hatte einen Wiener schnitzen , das perfekt gewürzt und absolut köstlich war. Auch die Präsentation der Speisen war erstklassig und zeigte die Liebe zum Detail, die in jedes Gericht einfloss.

Hier kann man super Mittagessen ! Nettes Personal, schönes Restaurant und tolle Lage ! Immer wieder gerne, sehr empfehlenswert !
