The food is perfectly fine for the size of the place! Unfortunately, it's quite loud and very hectic in the restaurant!

The food is generally delicious. Unfortunately, only one side dish is served with the main courses. Also, the crackling on the pork shoulder isn't always crispy. Nevertheless, we really enjoy going here and will definitely do so again in the future.

Five of us were on a business trip and wanted Franconian food. Three of the five ordered Schäufele (pork shoulder), and everyone complained that the food was very dry. Everyone found the waiter's response, "Yeah, it happens," inappropriate, so we quickly decided to move on. It was also so loud that we couldn't have a conversation. Otherwise, a quaint building.

I recently visited the BräuSchänke and can say: the concept is compelling. The atmosphere, decor, and offerings—especially the seasonal Franconian cuisine and draft beer—are solid and appealing. However, the prices are comparatively high, which makes the visit a bit more expensive. Furthermore, the parking situation is rather inconvenient—there's no parking directly on site, which can be inconvenient depending on your journey. Overall: a recommended visit if you're willing to spend a little more and possibly tolerate a longer walk for parking.

Solid Franconian cuisine and a fun, rustic ambience

Quaint ambiance, great service, but the main reason for my rather poor review is the main course I ate today. The cheese spaetzle I ordered were delivered quickly, but they were only lukewarm, the seasoning in the spaetzle left a lot to be desired, the cheese was more of a sauce than a part of the dish, with no strings or anything similar, and the spring onions, along with the dry fried onions, simply didn't fit into a normally traditional recipe.

Very loud, like a train station waiting room, with sluggish service and lukewarm, poor-quality food. It's a shame the advertising promises aren't even remotely kept. You should check out the restroom before visiting.

Great beer garden/great brewery tavern Delicious Franconian dishes such as shoulder of pork, knuckle of pork, liver dumpling soup, and bread soup. Delicious house beer. The Franconian Hochmoorgeist is a must.

We were visiting friends in Erlangen for a weekend and stopped by this beer garden the evening after our arrival. The beer and the food were delicious and perfect for dinner! We would definitely come back.

On a beautiful Saturday evening in September, four of us visited the Bräuschänke. We had reserved a table as we were traveling from out of town. The service was friendly and quick, the beer was delicious, and the Schäufela (pork shoulder) was impressive, with its lovely crust and tender meat. Everything was just perfect here; we can recommend the beer garden without reservation.

A friend recommended this restaurant, but unfortunately, everything went wrong that day. The waitress was very friendly, but the first waiter was forgetful. The food was okay, the blue tips had a bland flavor. The fish dish was okay. Overall, it's a good 3 stars out of a possible 5.

The food and beer are very good, the portions are generous, and the prices are absolutely reasonable. The staff is friendly, and the first beer and the food arrived very quickly. Unfortunately, after the second beer, you had to almost stretch your arm to make yourself heard. Unfortunately, the staff didn't respond proactively to empty glasses. At that time, the brewery wasn't even particularly busy. Overall, though, it's a highly recommended brewery.

Gut, das Wetter passte, da ist ein Ausflug mit Abendessen keine so schlechte Idee. Die Reservierung, die uns angeraten wurde, klappte ohne Probleme. Dss Personal sehr net, aufmerksam und flott. Der Außenbereich ist nett, aber die unbequemen Sitzbänke ohne Lehne, laden nicht zum längeren Verweilen ein. Das Bier hervorragend und gut temperiert. Das Essen ist eher durchschnittlich, frei nach dem Motto, kann man essen, aber es ist viel Luft nach oben. Die Salate mit Fleisch in Ordnung, die Schnitzel nicht viel zu beanstanden, allerdings keine Pfannenschnitzel. Nun die Pommes sind keine Kunst. Die Sülze mit Bratkartoffeln war nicht gut gewürzt und fad im Geschmack, da hat auch der milde Sud nicht viel verändert. Die Bratkartoffeln waren keine klassischen Bratkartoffeln, sondern gebratene klein Kartoffelstücke mit Schnittlauch. Als Fazit möchte ich ziehen, dass es vermutlich aufgrund der Lage und des Namens Kitzmann anziehend ist. Wegen des Essens (zumindest das was wir probiert haben) muss man da nicht hin.

Netter kleiner Biergarten vor der eigentlichen Schänke. Das Personal war nett. Als kurzer Zwischenhalt oder auch für ein paar Getränke und Essen gut geeignet.

Solid beer garden. The outdoor seating is very comfortable, and most of the seats are dry. Otherwise, there are plenty of tables inside. Good food with decent portions and fair prices. The knuckle of pork had a really good crust. Can't complain. The beer tastes good too, and gets better with each one. They also serve Aperol by the liter, but I'm not sure what to make of that...

The owner greeted us with the words, "These are tourists, we don't care about them." The food in the restaurant was great. But the owner needs to seriously work on her attitude. Being greeted with the feeling of being ripped off is not something to be desired.

Das Dessert: Der Apfelstrudel wurde in der Mikrowelle aufgetaut und war teilweise noch gefroren. Auf Nachfrage beim Serviceteam hieß es: Dumm gelaufen. Macht aber nichts. Der Abendverantwortliche hat dazu keine Meinung und es ist auch nicht so schlimm. Außerdem war das Wiener Schnitzel so stark paniert und das Fleisch war trocken und zäh. Absolut kein Verständnis für den Gast und das Essen ist qualitativ schlecht.

Absolutely unacceptable experience at Kitzmann Bräuschänke! Last night, a server spilled an entire bowl of ketchup and mayonnaise on me. To make matters worse, the sauces were inexplicably hot, causing extreme discomfort. However, what shocked me even more was the staff’s complete lack of responsibility. The server didn’t even apologize, and throughout the entire two-hour dining experience, not a staff checked on me or offered any assistance—not even a simple “sorry.” Even if I had only ordered a glass of water, I would still expect friendly service. But considering that our bill exceeded €300 that night, the lack of basic courtesy was beyond disappointing. This level of negligence raises serious concerns about the restaurant’s service standards and customer care. I am attaching photos of my stained clothes, even after washing. One can only imagine how ridiculous they looked before being cleaned. This experience was truly unacceptable. I will never return, and I strongly advise others to think twice before dining here. I expect an explanation and a sincere apology for this incident. One of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had at Kitzmann Bräuschänke! We were there for dinner at the end of December. The selection is large. Food is ready extremely quickly, the place is relatively loud. Potato salad was brilliantly good, original Wiener Schnitzel was too dry, breading not crispy. Horseradish meat is super tasty. Unfortunately one slice was tough, the rest was buttery soft. The portions are definitely generous. Price-performance fits.

The beautiful atmosphere attracted us travelers to stop by. Great location inside too. We went into the next room because it was very loud. After 3!!! Minutes after ordering our food, we were served a lukewarm, uncrispy knuckle, as well as 2 small PAN schnitzels, which resembled pressed meat from the supermarket and tasted like used fryer oil. The specially ordered salad was also swimming in oil and was no longer fresh. We politely pointed this out to the initially friendly waiter. He didn't care and sent his colleague to collect. When we asked to speak to the cook or boss, we were deeply insulted: "We have no idea how to cook," "We talk so smartly," and we couldn't expect a Franconian schnitzel here. After this disappointment, we found pictures here of schnitzels that cannot be compared with what we were served today. They also tried to rip us off with the bill and we had to point out what we hadn't ordered or received. The price-performance ratio was not there. We have never experienced anything so outrageous in Franconia.

This is my second time visiting this restaurant and I can only say positive things about it. The service is very friendly, fast and attentive. Just as you would wish. The food is brought to the table so quickly that you might assume it had already been prepared for you before you entered, but that couldn't explain the freshness and crispiness of the dishes we ate. As soon as I went to the toilet after ordering, my colleague was already waiting for me, hungry, with the table set. The price is absolutely right and you can eat really well here.

Our regulars' table with 12 people took place on Saturday evening (January 2025) in the Kitzmann Bräuschänke. The food was consistently very tasty, whether it was a starter, main course or dessert. Great service, quick, attentive and really friendly. We cannot confirm some of the bad reviews and would be happy to come back.

The Kitzmann Bräuschänke has very good Palatinate cuisine. We got a place without a reservation, which is not a given for a group of 8 people. Unfortunately the waitress was a little unfriendly, but the food tasted very good. The Schäufele are recommended, among others.

Food was rather simple, rustic, okay.

Booked a week in advance, we were put in the next room. Lots of kids there. After the starter, the main course took about 45 minutes... but only when I asked the waiter... the waitress became bitchy when they expressed their displeasure. The burner when paying... When paying with a card, I should also tap the tip when asked. An absolute disgrace... The family with the children gave us another one as a thank you for understanding about the children. Two stars because the food was delicious. Nothing more is possible...

We had dinner here with the family today. And I have to say that food tasted really good. But Dani, the blonde waitress, behaved very inappropriately. Your way of dealing with guests is underground. Behind the counter she often made comments about the customers that were simply inappropriate. That would give me concerns as the owner. Great food, but we won't be eating here anymore.
