A very cozy restaurant with delicious home-style cooking for those who enjoy hearty Bavarian fare. The staff is friendly, and the adjoining room with its lovely artificial fireplace is extremely cozy.

We are visiting Franconia and wanted local cuisine in a local atmosphere. Direct hit!!

Great shop for a bit of Franconian cosiness. Perfect shovel. Delicious beer, even if it is no longer brewed there. Very suitably furnished inside. Beer garden also cozy. Unfortunately the service also exuded the Franconian charm... But we'd love to come back.

Pork ax with pepper sauce. Good, but perhaps pepper sauce combined with pork meat isn't the first choice? In my opinion, are there better ones?

Worth a visit every time. Beautiful brewing cabinets in a classic style. Exceptionally good service, even with large groups, attention is paid to eating at the same time.

Absolutely unacceptable experience at Kitzmann Bräuschänke! Last night, a server spilled an entire bowl of ketchup and mayonnaise on me. To make matters worse, the sauces were inexplicably hot, causing extreme discomfort. However, what shocked me even more was the staff’s complete lack of responsibility. The server didn’t even apologize, and throughout the entire two-hour dining experience, not a staff checked on me or offered any assistance—not even a simple “sorry.” Even if I had only ordered a glass of water, I would still expect friendly service. But considering that our bill exceeded €300 that night, the lack of basic courtesy was beyond disappointing. This level of negligence raises serious concerns about the restaurant’s service standards and customer care. I am attaching photos of my stained clothes, even after washing. One can only imagine how ridiculous they looked before being cleaned. This experience was truly unacceptable. I will never return, and I strongly advise others to think twice before dining here. We were there for dinner at the end of December. The selection is large. Food is ready extremely quickly, the place is relatively loud. Potato salad was brilliantly good, original Wiener Schnitzel was too dry, breading not crispy. Horseradish meat is super tasty. Unfortunately one slice was tough, the rest was buttery soft. The portions are definitely generous. Price-performance fits.

The beautiful atmosphere attracted us travelers to stop by. Great location inside too. We went into the next room because it was very loud. After 3!!! Minutes after ordering our food, we were served a lukewarm, uncrispy knuckle, as well as 2 small PAN schnitzels, which resembled pressed meat from the supermarket and tasted like used fryer oil. The specially ordered salad was also swimming in oil and was no longer fresh. We politely pointed this out to the initially friendly waiter. He didn't care and sent his colleague to collect. When we asked to speak to the cook or boss, we were deeply insulted: "We have no idea how to cook," "We talk so smartly," and we couldn't expect a Franconian schnitzel here. After this disappointment, we found pictures here of schnitzels that cannot be compared with what we were served today. They also tried to rip us off with the bill and we had to point out what we hadn't ordered or received. The price-performance ratio was not there. We have never experienced anything so outrageous in Franconia.

This is my second time visiting this restaurant and I can only say positive things about it. The service is very friendly, fast and attentive. Just as you would wish. The food is brought to the table so quickly that you might assume it had already been prepared for you before you entered, but that couldn't explain the freshness and crispiness of the dishes we ate. As soon as I went to the toilet after ordering, my colleague was already waiting for me, hungry, with the table set. The price is absolutely right and you can eat really well here.

Our regulars' table with 12 people took place on Saturday evening (January 2025) in the Kitzmann Bräuschänke. The food was consistently very tasty, whether it was a starter, main course or dessert. Great service, quick, attentive and really friendly. We cannot confirm some of the bad reviews and would be happy to come back.

The Kitzmann Bräuschänke has very good Palatinate cuisine. We got a place without a reservation, which is not a given for a group of 8 people. Unfortunately the waitress was a little unfriendly, but the food tasted very good. The Schäufele are recommended, among others.

Food was rather simple, rustic, okay.

Booked a week in advance, we were put in the next room. Lots of kids there. After the starter, the main course took about 45 minutes... but only when I asked the waiter... the waitress became bitchy when they expressed their displeasure. The burner when paying... When paying with a card, I should also tap the tip when asked. An absolute disgrace... The family with the children gave us another one as a thank you for understanding about the children. Two stars because the food was delicious. Nothing more is possible...

In itself a nice location with nice employees. Except for the blonde waitress “Danny”; she should keep her sharp tongue under control. Just because she's behind the counter doesn't mean you can't hear her inappropriate comments. Under all...

The food was really great. But a tip for the blonde waitress. Conversations and comments that take place behind the counter and are made can be heard incredibly well in the guest area. This service and her manner were simply more than inappropriate and cheeky. And unfortunately it wasn't the first time either. The other waitresses were really great. But despite the really great food, we definitely won't be coming back!

We had dinner here with the family today. And I have to say that food tasted really good. But Dani, the blonde waitress, behaved very inappropriately. Your way of dealing with guests is underground. Behind the counter she often made comments about the customers that were simply inappropriate. That would give me concerns as the owner. Great food, but we won't be eating here anymore.

Everything was wonderful except for one of the waitresses. She should learn a little more about good behavior. Comments about guests should perhaps be kept to yourself. Really impossible, really not possible.

Good and nice restaurant. Only the portions were very different in size. For example, one guest had 2 apple fritters, the other 3...

The Kitzmann Bräuschänke is the well-known house in Erlangen. The Kitzmann brewery once existed there and I even still know the brewery shop. Now let's come to the brewery. The Bräuschänke is simply a very rustic Franconian restaurant. Food of all kinds is simply fantastic, very tasty and good portions. The service was simply excellent and quick. Kitzmann Beer Tastes good, always good, always good, always good. I'll definitely be back, long live the Kitzmann tradition.

The gentleman and lady were humble enough to let me in despite having no reservation. The beer's taste was very good. They asked for tip but there is still an option to deny it.

My host had made a reservation for Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. The house is very well attended and there were enough staff who really looked after their guests. The dinner was delicious and also reasonably priced. Thank you very much for the lovely evening.

We hadn't reserved a table and were in transit. The restaurant was full but they still made it possible for us. Food was very good. The conditions were very friendly. It all happened really, really quickly. When I head that way again, I won't miss the brewpubs.

There was a lot going on here, a very lively old brewpub. Many children felt comfortable here and they were also very dog-friendly in the brewery. The food was good and plentiful.

We only had drinks. Service very friendly. Even though we were late, we were asked if we would like to eat something else. Kitchen would be closing soon. Kitzmann Lager tastes very tasty and well chilled. Aperol for 5.60 euros is a dream if you are used to prices from Hamburg. But not only was the price good, the mix was also good. Otherwise everyone fills up with seltzer, but not here! Next time we will also come for dinner.

Everything is great, but eating out is becoming more and more expensive

We were just there for a few beers after a concert. The atmosphere is very nice and the service was quick and very friendly.

As a tourist from America, this place is about all you are looking for in a German brewhouse. Old building. Good service. Decent menu with local traditional fare and some lighter offerings. Take home a .5l stein for a souvenir at a reasonable cost. Picture is if pork shoulder (skin on for a pork rind crunch) potato dumpling and sauerkraut.

Came on a Monday around 6:30 p.m. Didn't make a reservation because we didn't know it would be so busy. We were seated but left after 2 minutes because it was very loud and we had to shout at each other. We would have liked to eat there and might do the same when we go to Erlangen again. Maybe then my opinion will change. However, the woman who seated us was very nice.

The place is really cosy and the staff is very nice and efficient. The food is really generous and well cooked, full of taste! The food is traditional, simple and delicious. Very good adress in Erlangen

Friendly and attentive service, pleasant atmosphere, good price/performance ratio.

Too expensive and portions too small

Stopped here two evenings in a row. After a long day at the trade fair, it was a great end to the day on both evenings. Good food, delicious beer & great service. We were there during the week and it was full indoors, so make sure you make a reservation.

We spent a lovely evening there with colleagues and the food was without complaint. But the waitress reprimanded us in a rather condescending tone because of the insufficient tip, and that with a bill of well over €300. I can therefore not make a recommendation.

Were there with 10 people. The restaurant became more and more crowded and was always busy throughout the evening. It has to be said that most of the guests came without reservations, which is why they weren't prepared for such a crowd. The food still arrived quickly, was warm and very tasty. The waitresses were always friendly and handled it very well.

My son invited us for my Granddaughters first Day of school.

Wir waren zu einem Zwischenstopp in Erlangen und haben abends im Kitzmann gegessen. Das Essen und die Getränke waren in Ordnung. Das Personal freundlich. Es handelt sich um ein Brauhaus mit der typischen (Wirtshaus-)Atmosphäre: alles in allem völlig in Ordnung, aber auch nichts besonders spektakuläres.

We had dinner in the beer garden 7 days ago. What particularly caught my attention was the staff. I haven't seen anything so friendly and accommodating in a long time. I hope the boss honors that.

Delicious beer, unfortunately poor value for money for the food. Unfortunately, the cheese spaetzle was only a tiny portion, which was quickly eaten with 10 forks and was quite expensive at just under 15 euros (if you compare it, for example, with the Schäufele, which was only 5 euros more expensive). Note wasn't passed on... I can't recommend it.

Excellent restaurant quite central and with the possibility of parking. The seats outside enjoy a quiet seating area, the service is excellent and the dishes are mostly meat-based. Good beer, average prices.

I ordered Franconian bratwurst with potato salad. In my opinion they were pork sausages that were swimming in fat and the potato salad had a bland taste. The service was very friendly.

Friendly service and wonderful food

Kitzmann is first and foremost the beer of Erlangen. Then the place is an excellent Biergarten in the city center. There are parking spaces, but if you can get there on foot. The beer is very good, the menu varied, based mainly on typical Bavarian (or more precisely Franconian) ones. And rightly so for a real Biergarten. Fast and courteous service. Prices average for the region. I recommend it.

My wife and I are regular guests here and we are always 100% thrilled and very satisfied. The service woman and Dimi are super fast and very nice and accommodating. The Braumeisterschnitzel or the Currywurst on Saturday are very tasty and recommended. We often go there on Saturdays because they have currywurst. Service very fast, even when it's busy. Wait until the food arrives. Drink replenishment also quick. We'd love to come back. The friendliness is also great. We thank you and are glad that you exist!!!

Wir sind Stammgäste. Dimi und die liebe, blonde Servicefrau sind beide auf Zack. Schnell, nett und offen. Meine Frau liebt die Currywurst und ich das Braumeisterschnitzel mit Kartoffelsalat. Auch der gemischte Salat ist lecker. Getränkenachschub ist schnell und zuvorkommend. Auch der tolle Biergarten ist schön. Für kleine Kinder nicht so geeignet, weil keine Spielmöglichkeit. Das Essen ist hervorragend und reichlich. Auch die Wartezeit auf das Essen absolut ok. Wir kommen wieder!!!!!

Have a good dinner with a bear! Only one point is that this restaurant has taken american style: ask for a trip if you are a foreigner. In Germany, service is normally included.

It was very tasty 😋 and the service was super nice

Seems like a tyrannical boss. You are only allowed to sit at certain tables in a row, even if there are 10 free unreserved tables next to them, even if the shop is almost empty. But even at the permitted tables ("that are set", in Erlangen that means a can with a wooden spoon in it!) the waitress is not allowed to wipe the table, instead she should take care of the guests (we weren't there?) and that's what she did long explained that the slowest person could have wiped three tables in that time. Everything was so unpleasant, I didn't want to stay there.

Horseradish soup was great, dumplings with sauce were good, schnitzel was rather dry and not freshly baked in a pan, but in a deep fryer, salad was ok. Service from the Italian was very nice.
